Can't change Cover Flow Art

I was able to change the album artwork in "Get Info". The correct art shows in the "Now Playing Window", but the Cover Flow artwork wont change. I've been successful in changing the Cover Flow artwork using the "Get Info" change method in the past, but this is the first time I've tried it since the latest iTunes update...maybe there's a bug needs squashing. How do I change the Cover Flow artwork?

I gave that a try and it "kinda" works but doesn't really solve the annoyance. If you resize it again in the slightest or shift the divider bar, the whole thing jumps back to the 90/10 view. Why!?!?! Does that not drive anyone else insane?
Thanks for the duct tape fix though Captfred. I can at least use that in the mean time. I really hope they fix that problem with the next update. It worked just fine before, but now it makes cover flow somewhat unusable.

  • Still can't use cover flow

okay, i still can't use cover flow. i got the itunes 7 update, 7.0.1, but it still comes up with "can't browse album covers on this computer." is it just because i use windows 2000, or do i need to change something on my computer?

It shouldn't be related to Windows 2000, and luckily there are a few things you can try.
First, here's Apple's reference to the problem, iTunes 7 for Windows is unable to display album covers in Cover Flow.
The following have fixed the problem for many people...
Make sure the graphics card has 32Mb of memory or more. If you're not sure carry on as we're going check this later
Download and install iTunes 7.0.1 (or higher), http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Make sure that your Hardware Acceleration is set at Full. Control Panel > Display, Settings > Advanced, Troubleshoot
Install the latest drivers for your Graphics card - this fixes most problems
Download and install DirectX 9.0c (or higher), DirectX 9.0c
Start > Run, type dxdiag and press enter. Go to the Video tab (or Display n) and enable DirectDraw Acceleration and Direct3D acceleration.
Whilst on this tab check the Approx. Total Memory value to ensure your graphics card has at-least 32MB of available memory
    If iTunes still isn't working...
Uninstall iTunes, don't re-install just yet...
Install Quicktime 7.1.3 (or higher), http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
    Install iTunes again
However, I can confirm that none of the above will work for the Matrox G550. Guess which card I have...

  • I want to change Cover Flow to columns in Safari

I want to change Cover Flow to columns in Safari. Somehow the columns view I had in Safari Bookmarks changed to cover flow and I have lost all my subfolders within the bookmarked folders. Views in the Menu doesn't give the choice like in Finder!

    Safari 5?
In the cover flow window, under the scroll bar there are 3 horizontal lines.  It is very hard to see those lins.
Move the mouse cursor to that. Mouse cursor should turn into a hand cursor.
Drag it upward and you will see Bookmarks in column view.
    Best.

  • How to change Cover Flow background color in finder?

I realize that there's (as far as I can tell) no way to do this via the GUI, I'd welcome any more creative suggestions too.
My wife uses software called TruEmbroidery to create and edit designs for her sewing machine.   She likes to use the cover flow view to browse her files - BUT many designs' "previews" consist largely of dark colors and alpha (transparency).   Hence, the dark default background of cover flow makes them hard to discern.
Is there any way - however creative - to change it?   I found this terminal command (below) on another forum, but it doesn't seem to work in Mountain Lion.
    defaults write com.apple.Finder IKImageFlowBackgroundColor 255,255,255

sorry could not get the alternative to execute either,  so I removed it.

  • Changing Cover Flow images for a video

Is there a way to change the image of a video in Cover Flow? For instance, I have a mp4 video of my little cousin on his birthday as we all sing Happy Birthday to him. When I am using finder, in the folder with the video, and I switch to Cover Flow mode, the preview is a still image of the video. Instead, I want it to show a jpg photo I have of him blowing out his candles. I've changed the icon to the jpg, but I can't figure out how to change the image in Cover Flow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be a fun way to organize a lot of family videos I have.

You need to trim the clip in a video editor and then add it to the slideshow.

I've tryed Using The Menu Bar and clicked on View, but it only works on "Recently Played" "Recently Added" and "Playlists" only
is when Im given the option of seeing my cover flow. But Not For All Of My Music
    Can someone please help me.
    Please And Thank You

piece of cake mate best way is to go over it
find the album cover on google images save them some where(in your case find all 8 different album covers)
go in to itunes and right click the track click "get info" and add the album art in the art section.
click ok and it should write that image in to the song so when you sync over to your iphone/ipod it will appear insted of that annoying default symbol..
(small info clip: if theres an entire album and you right click there wont be a artwork tab so just drag over the image you want as album cover over to itunes while you have the GET INFO screen up :))
    recap
    "GOOGLE" images
    save them
    open itunes
find track and right click it
    get info
add album art in the appropriate section
    click ok and boom done

  • I can't see Cover Flow

When I try to see cover flow in iTunes, it says that it cant. Could someone tell me what is wrong? My information is in the green on the bottom.
HP   Windows 2000   iPod nano (1st Gen.) 2GB, iPod Radio Remote, iTunes 7.0.1.8

    OBGYNDR
With iPhoto 7 the old iPhoto Library Folder has become a Unix Style Package folder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
All of these are safer and fster than surfing the iPhoto Library Folder.

  • Can't get Cover Flow to keep previous window settings, help?

I'm sure that there is some easy quick fix to this but I couldn't find it anywhere doing various web searches. Anyway, I'm new to Snow Leopard and I've noticed a very irritating difference/glitch/whatever between it and Leopard.
I am a graphics guy and I always used Cover Flow in Finder to search through my documents and files and heap of images. The old Cover Flow view always opened new windows to the size and proportions (image vs. text) as my previous window(s). In this new Snow Leopard that I installed, whenever I open a new Finder window in Cover Flow it gives me this huge 90% image view with just this small 10% file texts at the bottom of the window. Each time I have to click and drag the divider bar back up to the 50% line. If I click on a file, again, the view jumps to this flippin' huge image view and I have to drag the divider back up to the middle.
Is there anyway to get Finder to be like in the old Leopard where it remembers that I want Cover Flow to always be a 50/50 split between seeing the images and the file names? Its driving me crazy. I would assume there is just some little button or something that I am missing. Thanks.

I gave that a try and it "kinda" works but doesn't really solve the annoyance. If you resize it again in the slightest or shift the divider bar, the whole thing jumps back to the 90/10 view. Why!?!?! Does that not drive anyone else insane?

  • How can I get cover flow to work on a fifth generation Ipod classic

I have a fifth generation Ipod. Is there any way I can get cover flow or something similar? When I'm browsing through my music, I want to be able to see the album cover, rather than just the album title.
    Thank youl

    Not possible.

  • Can coverflow or cover flow be sped up?

I have an 8-core, 8 GB machine. With one Finder folder open to a directory of images, set to cover flow (or coverflow) mode, moving from one image to the next with the up/down cursor keys results in first, a blurry version of the image, and second, a few moments later, a sharpened version.
During this process, my CPU meters are minimally active; certainly there is no indication of heavy work going on. But coverflow can't keep up with even the most gentle viewing rate... tap, tap tap and it's way behind. This seems ridiculous to me. I can browse images at many times this speed with no intermediate "blurry" render in many other applications - why is finder so pokey?
And more importantly, is there a way to speed it up? It's really kind of driving me nuts.

I don't experience any latency at all, in either Quick Look, Cover Flow, or Finder.
Have you tried creating a new account and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.)
Open System Preferences > Accounts > "+" make it an admin account.
If this works, then log back into your problem account and go to Users/yourname/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    Then, restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)
If that fix it and the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your Finder features work correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving/Users/yourname/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
If the issue is systemwide then, you may be able to repair this with the The 10.6.4 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

  • Can Top Sites & cover flow be disabled?

I do not use Top Sites or the cover flow display of them. Can these features of Safari 4.0.2 be completely disabled in order to conserve RAM and CPU usage?
    Many thanks,
    Neil

I appreciate your answer. But all I want to eliminate is Top Sites and cover flow of them. I want to retain cache and history unless I manually delete them.
When I go to Safari reset and ask it to eliminate cover flow and Top Sites, or when I go to the page displaying the cover flow and manually delete each image, neither step actually deletes because when I return to the Top Sites page, there are still cover flow images, and they happen to not be the sites I most often visit.
My only concern is I do not use these features and do not want to waste RAM or CPU usage.

  • Can't view cover flow

Message appears "itunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer". Itunes did show album covers on the computer before. The directx was updated, but directdraw or accelorater is not available to enable?". Is there away to check and fix video drivers? Would appreciate any help.
    Jen_123xc

I am having the same problems. I just recently got my laptop working again and it doesn't want to do the cover flow when it did before. My PC with XP doesn't want to do cover flow either.
I saw on another post of updating the DirectX drivers which I did and when I run the diagnostics it shows there are no probs but I can't seem to enable the 3D and Draw. Or, else I'm not sure how to enable them. I've also updated my Flash. HELP! I really like viewing by cover flow so would like to get it working again.

  • Music - Can viewing via Cover Flow be only certain categories?

When, in iTunes/Music, I reposition the iPod Touch to landscape and the viewing changes to cover flow, it seems always to return to my entire music library and shows which album is playing or paused at that moment, not where I was searching in, for example, a category>classical>composer>Mozart. Is it possible to view only certain parts of my library in cover flow view, or does it always revert to one's entire library? And, in what order is it presenting my library - alphabetically, by what, composer, song, artist, etc.? Thanks.

Coverflow always displays the entire library on the iPod (I wish it could be limited to the playlist being used). The sort order appears to be:
    1- Album Artist (if populated)
    2- Artist
    3- Album

  • Can I change the folder art picture to something different from the file art pictures contained within ?

I have a folder on my PC called downloaded singles, contained within this folder is the top 40 singles from each week and each song has it's own cover art. When i add the folder to iTunes it will display a randomly picked image from one of the 40 songs as the main folder art or cover picture that you see in your iTunes Album screen. What i would like to achieve is having an image for the main folder that reflects the name of the folder i.e. an image for take 40 Australia showing that the "Album" is a top 40 album and then all the songs contained with the folder each keep their own cover art. Is this possible??

Yes you can change it, I have done so in the past, but if you run a combo update it gets changed back, so I haven't bothered lately--although since we're now at 10.4.9 that will no longer be a problem.
You need a way to create and edit icns files and a willingness to mess with system files. You then go here:
    "/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/iMac.icns"
When you get to the CoreTypes.bundle you need to use the Contextual Menu and select Show Package Contents, then continue travelin' on down. Copy the iMac.icns file by dragging to your Desktop (it won't move out of the original folder), open the copy in an icns editor and modify it to what you want, then save. Next drag your modified file into the Resources folder--you'll be asked to Authenticae in order to do that thing, and asked if you want to replace the original, when you say yes you will have to give your admin password. You will then need to restart to see the change.
If you've never done this sort of thing before and don't know a thing about icns files, nor have an icns editor installed (there's one in Developer Tools), it probably isn't worth it.

  • ITunes - Can´t change Cover

    Hey guys.
I´m from Germany and i searched an answer for my problem on nearly every german apple-fan-page. So you´re my last hope.
A few days ago I imported many songs from my old laptop to my new MacBook. After that, i started adding Covers to the Albums. But four times it didn´t worked. I wasn´t able to add a cover. When i just pick one of the songs of the albums, i can´t even select the "Cover"-Button. That drives me crazy...
I hope that you can help me.
    WiikCore

Yep, I have the same problem and ran into this thread while searching for help. I have 3 mp3 files in iTunes that just refuses to get a cover added. The according tab field in the files properties is just grayed out.
I have changed permissions for all 3 files and they are just the same as all other files. I have no idea how to approach this.
    Any help appreciated!
