Can't establish wireless connection between the printer and computer.
I recently upgraded my wireless to an Apple AirPort Time Capsule. I'm able to set up the printer via USB cable. And I'm able to set up the printer on the network via the Airport WPA utility. However I cannot establish a wireless connection between the computer and the printer. When I go to the printers window in my system prefereces, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. Only the USB version printer is listed and of course when I disconnect the USB cable it shows as offline.I've tried all the fixes on HP's support pages. I've tried reinstalling the printer on both the router and the computer numerous times. The only thing I haven't done is reinstall the printer using the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download). And when I reset the printer to factory settings, then connect it to the computer via the USB, there is no installation software that pops up. Cant even find the **bleep** thing in "Finder". (I'm assuming that it should show up as some sort of external device.) I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network. (sometimes my computer will grab a connection with the next nearest network.) I've checked all the settings for the printer via the HTML configuration utility. I've even updated my Macbook software and restarted it multiple times. Note: the printer actually worked for a bit when I first switched routers, but the printer's wireless function went offline several times and then quit altogether. Really frustrated that I bought another HP product thinking this time things would be different. HP is no help unless you want to pay $$ for a phone call. I'm about ready to take this thing out in the desert to use for target practice and never buy another HP product ever again.
Hi , I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with your LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer not showing on your Macintosh computer. I may have found some resources for you.
I have a few questions for you, so I can offer some additional assistance:Before you upgraded to the Apple AirPort Time Capsule, was the printer working wirelessly without any issues?
When you say; 'I reset the printer to factory settings', how where you trying to do this?
I found some instructions from this post: How do I reset my Laserjet p1102w to its defaults, copied here for you:
To restore the printer back to factory settings, turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and the cancel button (x button) then turn the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise. (When they say turn the printer off, I think they mean unplug the power cable.)
"I've checked to make sure both computer and printer are on the same network." Do you know if you are able to access the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS)?To access the EWS - Make sure that the Ready light () is on and that the printer is idle and silent.Press and hold the Cancel button (), and release it when the Ready light () begins blinking. The configuration page prints.Type the IP address or host name of the product in the address field of a supported Web browser, and then press Enter on your keyboardLet me know if this page loads
To answer a few more items you have listed:... When I go to the printers window in my system preferences, there is no wireless printer available to add in the "available printers" menu. This could be an issue with your print system, I recommend resetting the printing system and then Repair Disk Permissions - after that try to add the printer again.
... the "Install Wizard" software that is supposed to come with the printer - (mine never came with it in the first place and of course HP doesn't have it available for download)HP provides their software/drivers to Apple to be released through your Apple software updates. You can review this document on how to Install a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update. Which leads into your next point...
... there is no installation software that pops upWhen you connect the USB cable your mac may still recognize the printer software as being already installed - check for apple updatesOn the Mac, click the Apple menu (), and then click Software Update, or click About this Mac, and then click Software Update. A list of available updates displays.
... Not seeing the printer in "Finder" From what I understand most printers will not show in Finder unless you install a memory card into a supported port on certain printer models, only then will it read it like an external device. A few more things you can check are that the new settings in the Apple AirPort Time Capsule are setup to allow the printer to communicate. There are several of these settings listed in this document; Tips and Workarounds for Common Wireless Network Printer Issues. HP regularly releases firmware updates that may also correct the problem you are experiencing. You can click on this link to Getting Printer Updates for HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer. I did find 2 more documents that may offer some additional information as well;HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer - Connecting the Printer After Changing Your Wireless NetworkAn 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Displays for the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or the details of what happened. I look forward to hearing from you, hopefully with good news! Thanks,

Can't establish ftp connection between a Xserve and a PB
We want to use a Xserve (Mac OS X Server 10.4.8) to provide webhosting, but experience problems in establishing ftp connections using a PowerBook (Mac OS X 10.4.8).
On a WinXP-based notebook using the same Internet connection, anything works fine, just not on my PowerBook.
This is what happens when trying to establish a ftp connection (via terminal):
I type: ftp [email protected]
Returns:
220 star1.local FTP server ready.
331 Password required for user.
I provide the password, anything looks fine, get this output:
230 User starenterprise logged in.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp>
Okay, now I want to see what files are in the directory using "dir" command ("ls" brings same result). This output is shown:
502 'EPSV': command not understood.
227 Entering Passive Mode (132,78,123,92,42,115)
Now I can either press CTRL+C to escape or when waiting around one minute, then it states this:
421 Service not available, remote server timed out. Connection closed
On a ftp client software like CuteFTP Mac it shows "Can't open data connection" instead of, but result is the same.
I read through some articles I found here, but nothing compared to my problem. Please help.
I should mention one thing Apple's support told me: Since I have the same username and UID on my PowerBook as well as on the xServe, it could bring problems. However I have then added a new user to my PowerBook, result is the same. And Apple's support left helpless so far.You said: "Not really answered, the problem persists and I now go on and let
Apple work on it again"
As a native English speaker, I must say (and doubt any would disagree) that
your statement implied: "No one here has actually helped me fix this problem,
and now I'm waiting for Apple to fix it"
Please take care to the word "again" I used; this implies that Apple has tried to solve the issue before but failed (in fact, they stated to call me back, but this is weeks ago) and so I posted this here at the discussions.
Unfortunately I only have access to the "free" support (well, free is not the right word when paying 12 cents per minute for the phone call).
And this means (at least I can speak for the German part of Apple) that operators on the phone look at their knowledgebase and sending articles by e-mail; questions going deeper are resulting in a "we call you back" answer. Sometimes they phone back, sometimes not. Sometimes they are helpful, sometimes (or should I say "in most cases") they just give hints or ask me to investing a nice amount into premium support.
Don't misunderstand me in the direction that I demand assistance from this forum - I'm more than gradeful if I get help (and rewarded this always with giving points), it has saved me several times (many, many, many times) for doing time consuming investigations and making trial-and-error experiences by myself. If I cannot get more assistance, well I have to look elsewhere and so be a bit impertinent to Apple's support. Perhaps it helps
You are right, FTP itself works correctly. It even works fine on the WinXP notebook residing at the same LAN as my PB. Therefore the issue is at the PB's firewall very likely (or a strange relationship between two firewalls which seems not to affect WinXP).
But as you indicate, it makes no sense to lower down security just for doing ftp, especially since SSH works well. However since I have no problems doing ftp sessions with other servers, I would be eager to find the reason why it refuses in this case, even this just means feeding my curiosity
So if I come to new insights, I post them here. But I feel that I'll really need your wishes for luck to solve this problem Let's see... -
I bought a product called 'Helium Music Streamer' and downloaded it. I registered the product and went to launch it..
only it wouldnt launch.
It had the error 'Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:50972.'
I would be glad for some help
'Hi, in case you haven't solved your problem - here's what i've discovered based on having same issue. where IE proxy system settings automatically allows local host url access; It appears FF system proxy or auto-detect does not, it's settings blocks local host URL access. To access local host, "no proxy" settings should allow or, only way to allow this exception (or any other exceptions) is through their manual settings. You should see in manual settings that the local host is already set to be allowed through.
FF also has plug-ins available which allows you to configure multiple proxy settings/profiles that you can toggle between based on your connection needs. THis way, when you want to use local host you can select it's proxy profile and go back to default proxy settings for regular web surfing, etc
Hope this helps you. -
when I use oracle 11 and have it set in automatic (in services) it operates properly. (after restart) When I have it in manual (in services) i get the message 'Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:1158.'
We use the computer for various instructors but only one uses Oracle. With oracle in auto it takes for ever to log in (2 mins or more), when it is in manual it takes 10 secs for log in.you mean the local.profile?
i have the next values

Windows performed an automatic update on my PC this morning. Now, Firefox does not work other than in SAFE mode. I get "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server..." I downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of Firefox and get the same error message. IE works. MS Outlook works. What did Windows do to me this time?
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy" if the default "Use the system proxy settings" setting doesn't work.

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost
I was building a wordpress website on my PC: using Firefox browser, accessing wordpress through WebMatrix which opened Firefox & showed a 'localhost:20238' address. It worked for 5 days then WebMatrix said ' website does not exist. I could still load it for 1 day using browser history. Then that failed too. Have ditched WebMatrix. Now loaded XAMPP & Wordpress (shown as succesful). Putting 'localhost' into address box. Error message: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost.
Does it work in other browsers?
When you enter http://localhost/ Firefox will try port 80, since that is the standard for web servers. If there is any other software on your computer listening on port 80, the web server might not be able to use it. Can you check your XAMPP settings and try using a different port such as 8080? Then you would access the server using http://localhost:8080/. -

Hello
I have installed N1 system manager but when i try to open its web page there is an error occur on web page which is i paste below. Any body help me. please i shell be thank full to u.
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.50.28:6789The error you're saying suggests, that your N1SM isn't either configured or didn't start up properly.
N1SM was EOLed (end of life) long time ago & doesn't support any newer systems or S10 updates
Also it's slowly nearing EOSL (end of supported life).
N1SM was replaced by xVM Ops Center, which was released as of version 2.0 two weeks ago.
I strongly suggest you ask your local Sun representative for xVMOC and disregard N1SM.

How can I scan a photograph from the printer and place it in i photo?
Scan the document as you normally would.
Click Save and look for a format or option to allow you to save as a JPEG file. (The normal format is probably set to PDF)
Seve to your desktop location or to a scanned items folder if you normally scan to that desitnation
Drag the JPEG file onto the iPhoto icon on the dock and release the mouse key
Once you have imported the image into iPhoto, you can delete the file on your desktop or in the scanned items folder if you prefer
