Can't extract pages from PDF in 9 Pro, but coworker can in 8.

I have a PDF that I need to extract 3 consecutive pages from, but extract pages is greyed out.  However, my co-worker was able to extract them with no problem using Adobe Acrobat 8.  Any ideas why she can, but I can't?

So all the topics are showing in Project Manager and make it to the output? That suggests the TOC is showing OK in the output. From that it sounds like the TOC is also showing fine in the project and the problem is limited to the behaviour, correct?
That's not something I have seen reported so it's a bit trial and error to fix it.
First try one of the sample projects. Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left. That will identify if the problem is your installation or your project.
If it is your project is it still stored on your local drive and did you upgrade it whilst stored locally?
Try deleting the CPD file and then reopening the project.

  • Extracting pages from PDF file and creating new subfile PDF

    I am a .NET C# developer looking into creating an app that extracts a subset of pages from a PDF document, say, given a start and end page number, and possibly creating a new PDF file with that subset of pages.  Is there a convenient way of doing this ?

    Ok. The Acrobat SDK is not directly going to help, because the Acrobat SDK requires Acrobat, and Acrobat is not for server use.
    Adobe have the Adobe PDF Library for server use. C/C++, there may be a Java interface too from DataLogics, but huge overkill for this task, and many find it rather pricy for a simple task like this. There are third party libraries and tools, but this is not the place to discuss them.

    I used to be able to extract pages from my PDF file. I don't see the tools icon anymore. How can I access the tools icon?

    Hi lenm,
    To extract pages, you need to use Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). As I can attest (because I do have both Reader and Acrobat installed on the same computer), it is quite easy to open files in Reader when you mean to open then in Acrobat. So, please make sure you have the right app open. (I pull this one all the time!)
    Now, if the Tools menu is missing from Acrobat, choose View > Show/Hide > Toolbar Items > Show Toolbars to make them reappear.
    Please let us know how it goes.

  • How do I extract pages from a PDF?

    I am trying to extract pages from a pdf document through Adobe XI and the command is not there through page thumbnails or through tools.  What can I do?  We have the current version which I verified through checking for updates.

    "Adobe XI" does not exist.
    There is Acrobat XI (Standard or Pro).
    There is Adobe Reader XI.
    Acrobat XI Pro (and maybe Standard) can extract pages from a PDF.
    Adobe Reader XI cannot extract pages from a PDF.
    Once either application is open it is easy to determine which you have open.
    The "name" is in the top most "ribbon" of the application window.
    From what you've written it appears that you are using Adobe Reader XI.

    Hi adobespurs,
    To extract pages from a PDF, you need to use Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. Please see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

    How do I extract pages from a Secured PDF file?

    Adobe would call that hacking, and don't allow discussion of it in this forum. You should contact the copyright holder and see if they are prepared to release the password, or an unsecured document, to you. If it's something made for you like a bank statement you should tell the bank how inconvenient their choices are.

  • Extract Text from pdf using C#

    Hi,
    We are Solution developer using Acrobat,as we have reuirement of extracting text from pdf using C# we have downloaded adobe sdk and installed. We have found only four exmaples in C# and those are used only for viewing pdf in windows application. Can you please guide us how to extract text from pdf using SDK in C#.
    Thanks you for your help.
    Regards
    kiranmai

    Okay so I went ahead and actually added the text extraction functionality to my own C# application, since this was a requested feature by the client anyhow, which originally we were told to bypass if it wasn't "cut and dry", but it wasn't bad so I went ahead and gave the client the text extraction that they wanted. Decided I'd post the source code here for you. This returns the text from the entire document as a string.
           private static string GetText(AcroPDDoc pdDoc)
                AcroPDPage page;
                int pages = pdDoc.GetNumPages();
                string pageText = "";
                for (int i = 0; i < pages; i++)
                    page = (AcroPDPage)pdDoc.AcquirePage(i);
                    object jso, jsNumWords, jsWord;
                    List<string> words = new List<string>();
                    try
                        jso = pdDoc.GetJSObject();
                        if (jso != null)
                            object[] args = new object[] { i };
                            jsNumWords = jso.GetType().InvokeMember("getPageNumWords", BindingFlags.InvokeMethod, null, jso, args, null);
                            int numWords = Int32.Parse(jsNumWords.ToString());
                            for (int j = 0; j <= numWords; j++)
                                object[] argsj = new object[] { i, j, false };
                                jsWord = jso.GetType().InvokeMember("getPageNthWord", BindingFlags.InvokeMethod, null, jso, argsj, null);
                                words.Add((string)jsWord);
                        foreach (string word in words)
                            pageText += word;
                    catch
                return pageText;

  • Applescript or workflow to extract text from PDF and rename PDF with the results

    Hi Everyone,
    I get supplied hundreds of PDFs which each contain a stock code, but the PDFs themselves are not named consistantly, or they are supplied as multi-page PDFs.
    What I need to do is name each PDF with the code which is in the text on the PDF.
    It would work like this in an ideal world:
    1. Split PDF into single pages
    2. Extract text from PDF
    3. Rename PDF using the extracted text
    I'm struggling with part 3!
    I can get a textfile with just the code (using a call to BBEDIT I'm extracting the code)
    I did think about using a variable for the name, but the rename functions doesn't let me use variables.

    Hello
    You may also try the following applescript script, which is a wrapper of rubycocoa script. It will ask you choose source pdf files and destination directory. Then it will scan text of each page of pdf files for the predefined pattern and save the page as new pdf file with the name as extracted by the pattern in the destination directory. Those pages which do not contain string matching the pattern are ignored. (Ignored pages, if any, are reported in the result of script.)
    Currently the regex pattern is set to:
    /HB-.._[0-9]{6}/
    which means HB- followed by two characters and _ and 6 digits.
    Minimally tested under 10.6.8.
    Hope this may help,

  • Script or way to delete or export random pages from pdf...

    hello
    I have many request to export random pages from pdf doc. etc.. 1-3,51,63,78-92...I think that easy way is to have some script which will open dialog box and ask for which pages I want to export or delete from pdf. Anyone have something for this?
    thanks

    I find way for this on adobe blog. I am so stupid that I miss this "choose pages" button!!! You can combine more files and in list select pdf, and choose which pages from individual doc you want. Great

  • Extracting images from pdf

    I am trying to extract images from pdfs using pdfimages, but i am unable to retrieve all the images. By opening the pdfs using Acrobat Reader 9.0, I am able to select, those images retrieved by pdfimages, using the select tool but for other figures/images we need to try other options like print screen and then cut the relevant image. I was wondering why or when does the Acrobat treats the figures/images differently.

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for the reply. My question was not regarding any non-Adobe product like pdfimages. It was in general the way Acrobat handles the images while creating pdfs.
    I wanted to know why can we select some of the images from the pdf using select tool and can not select others for which we need to print screen and cut. Is there anything in the eps files of included image that causes such effect?
    Thanks.
