When you are first starting a project and creating the first track...  Make sure you assign it as an Audio Track.  When the Audio Track box expands make sure you check both the Input Monitoring and Record Enable Buttons...  Then once the actual audio track is created make sure you check the "I" and the "R" buttons to the left of the audio track.
Now you should be able to hear the audio and record the audio.

    Tanks!!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Logic Pro X requires OS X 10.8.4 or newer, so if you want to use it, you will have to upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks. See > http://www.apple.com/logic-pro/specs/
In case you want to do it, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • Hi Guys - Can someone please help me confirm that I can download Logic Pro X onto my iMac

    My present system is :-
    Processor 3.06GHz Intel Core i3
    Memory 4GB 1333 MHz Ram
    Software OS X 10.9.1

    Storage - 290 GB free
I think I can download Logic Pro X but would appreciate if someone could concur before I purchase
    thanks guys

Your Mac almost meets the minimum requirements for LPX....
    http://www.apple.com/logic-pro/specs/
The only catch might be your screen size.... but others seem to be able to use such a screen without much issue.. They have to do a little scrolling, in windowed mode, (as they cannot use full screen mode )  to see everything but thats about it. (I personally have never used such a screen so i am relying here on others testimony)
The i3 isn't the world most powerful processor but you will be able to use LPX's freeze and bounce features should you find you tax the processor/memory too much by using too many tracks at the same time....
Its really all down to what you plan to do with LPX and what sort of end results are you looking for...

  • How I can get Logic pro 7?

I have used Logic since the day it was "born" till version 5.5 (on Pc). Now I bought Logic pro 9  (& Mac...) and succeeded to load songs from version 5.5
but when I loaded songs from former version, I think 4.0, I have got a note says that I need version 7 to convert them.
What am I suppose to do?

Thanks, but the subject was "How can get get Logic pro 7?"
I mean can I get it from apple free as a logic 9 user? or there other way?

  • Where I can find Logic pro 7.1 upgrade

I acquired Logic pro 7 software, which I use on PPC G4 computer with Pro Tools Mix++ system. I would like to find 7.1 upgrade. This was actualy free upgrade, Apple sold it for 20$ on DVD (shipping costs).

Indeed.. It was a paid update that was only available from Apple directly and Apple have now ceased selling it...
However, I did locate a Logic 6-7 upgrade which is actually an upgrade from Logic Pro 6 to Logic Pro 7.1.... though i have no idea what it would do if you tried to use it to upgrade from 7.0...
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/APPLE-PRO-LOGIC-7-UPGRADE-SOFTWARE-NEW-M9667Z-A-7-1-/370 832497211?pt=US_Image_Video_Audio_Software&hash=item565756da3b
Other than that, after a brief search around.. I didn't find a real 7.0 to 7.1 upgrade package anywhere and I know one of my clients took almost 8 months of looking about 18 months ago... before he located one himself... and he had to pay almost $100 for his..so be prepared for a wait and pay above the original pricing...
Might be better to upgrade to Logic Pro 8..... if your hardware supports it?

  • I have Logic Pro 7 and want to upgrade to X but I can't because I have a 2007 MacBook Pro - I can only run Logic Pro 9 - where can I find it to buy?

Any recommendation as to where I can buy Logic Pro 9?  I can't run X on my MacBook because I can't upgrade to Mavericks.

Yes.. that is described as what you need.
Fingers crossed but you should be fine if it from a reputable person..
One tip.. Once you have installed it.. remember to update LP to  9.1.8 as that is the most stable version under  Lion....
I would recommend doing this before you run LP for the first time...
Use this link to download the correct update for your version....

  • After downloading osx 10.9.2 when i open my logic pro 9 and begin to audition loops that came with lp9 i get a message that says "audio device has been removed  and then a second message the " select driver not found(-10202). my interface is a apogee duet

after downloading osx 10.9.2 when i open my logic pro 9 and begin to audition loops that came with lp9 i get a message that says "audio device has been removed  and then a second message the " select driver not found(-10202). my interface is a apogee duet. Can anyone provide a solution to this problem. Thanks

    YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!
    I got it!!! Yes!!!
Guys, I've solved my problem about that error -10202 (Selected driver not found).
I have installed in my Mac Pro (OS X 10.5.8) a document with an extension ".rsrc" to correct the position of the accents in my keyboard, like acute accent, tilde and circumflex.
That file is called "U.S. - International.rsrc" and it's stored in the following path:
    "Macintosh HD/Library/Keyboard Layouts"
So, when it's properly installed, I can choose 2 country flags on the right side of the menu bar (U.S. - International and Brazilian).
    That's the clue!
When I pick up "U.S. - International", my keyboard works fine with the accents, >>>BUT<<< Logic Pro 9 doesn't recognize my audio driver; and when I pick up "Brazilian", my keyboard doesn't work with the accents exactly as it shows me on each key, BUT Logic Pro 9 DOES recognize my audio driver.
So, when I want to write anything out, I will pick up the "US - International" and when I want to work on the Logic Pro 9, I will pick up "Brazilian".
I hope I can help all of you.
    Regards,
    Renato Veiga.

  • Logic 7.2 not seeing DAE

Hi, I am using Logic Pro on a new Mac Pro, with Digidesign HD2 (PCIe) installed. Have always used Logic as front end for HD system, never a problem, but Logic not seeing any DAE hardware. Pro Tools (7.3) working great, but Logic only offering Core Audio. Have trashed prefs, un-installed,re-installed and set HD as the source, no help. Any ideas??? Core Audio is switched off, but not getting any options for Digidesign Hardware. Help!!!!!!

I'm having exactly the same problem, it's not well documented on the Apple site but Apple are not supporting DAE in their most recent versions of Logic on the Mac Pro.
You can find this on Digi's website:
    ==quote==
The following items are currently not compatible with Pro Tools HD 7.2.1 for Intel-based Mac Pro:
    * Apple Logic Pro 7.2 in DAE Mode
o Although Logic Pro 7.2 is a universal version that runs natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Mac systems, Logic Pro 7.2 is not yet compatible in DAE mode with Pro Tools HD 7.2.1 for Intel-based Mac Pro systems.
o In order to use Logic Pro with Digidesign hardware on Intel-based Macs, the Digidesign CoreAudio Driver must be used instead of DAE mode in Logic.
o Logic Pro will require a future update from Apple to support Pro Tools HD DAE for Intel-based Macs.
    ==end of quote==
A lot of people are waiting for an upgrade from Apple. I read the following somewhere (but have not tried it):
    ==quote==
The workaround is to uninstall Logic 7.2.3 and then install Logic
7.2.0 or 7.2.1 but not to update past version 7.2.1. Those earlier
versions may work with TDM. (Make sure to instal Pro Tools 7.2.1
first.) Those earlier versions of Logic only use 2 of the 4 CPU
cores in the Mac Pro. When Apple "fixed" Logic to use all 4 of the
dual intel duo cores, the TDM functionality was broken.
    ==end of quote==
Sorry I don't remember where I found it, it was somewhere on a forum of course.
Hope this is of help to you.
Are you running a version of Logic higher than 7.2.1 ?

  • Logic Pro 7.1.1 stability

    Hi,
I'v been using logic on mac since v6, I have never bin able to have logic run continuously for more than an hour!! It always locks-up on me (crashes). I am at the end of my tether. I love the look of logic and love the way it works, (wen it works!) Am I missing sumthin? anybody?
I have checked all the following things:
I have checked all my memory modules. (removed 1 faulty 512mb)
temporarily removed addional internal/external fiwi drives
    repaired drive permission,
    Installed pro application suport 3.1
disabled ALL third party au's (Absynth, atmosphere, minimoog v)
    reset logic pro7 prefs
removed motu av/audiophile 2496 drivers and used interal audio
    tweaekd audio preferance settings.
...and still it crashes! slight improvement yeah, but crashes after hour or so
I am using logic pro 7.1.1 1/2gig ram, 4/5 audio tracks, sum logic au effects.
Am i doing sumthin wrong.? I'v checked and double checked all my g4 hardware with apple hardware tester. could there a seriouse bug in MY copy/version of logic that prevents it from running a few audiomidi tracks for an hour? Can any1 help advise?
Considering i spent ova £600 on my logic pro,
my heart sank when i (out of curiosity) downloaded and installed Logic Express Trial on sun 4th, I set it to play.. and to my astonishment it ran from 10:00 sunday morning to 23:00! all the time iwas swapping/jumpng around screensets editing and generally USING it, trying to crash it! Express remained rock solid all the way ever since, is there an pro equivalent?
    any1?
    Thanks guys...

logic 7.1 runs ok here, but that's on a G5. Did you loop the hardware ckecking prg? A guy at applecare told me that the memory is only checked random. If you want a thorough check you could press ctrl-L ( or something like that; I forgot) when starting the harware check to loop the prg, run it overnight and see what comes up. I can imagine logic pro uses a lot more memory than logic express, so it would be more sensitive to memory failure.
Any other prg that uses a lot of memory? Is your mac stable when running a load of prg at the same time?

  • Logic Pro X crash while opening project

    Hello all,
Using Logic since 9 came out. Saw that X was released so I figured I'd do it right...new SSD OS X drive, clean install of Mountain Lion 10.8, maxed out my 12 core Mac Pro with 64 GB ram, downloaded the new Logic Pro X, re-installed my Native Instruments Komplete 8 bundle. I've been using it trouble-free now for about a week, and loving the update. Until now.
One of my projects crashed and now it won't re-open.
    I tried re-booting.
I trashed my preference files and restarted.
I can open Logic Pro, and other project files OK. I opened the Audio Units Manager and disabled ALL plugins, Quit Logic and restarted. Still crashes when opening this project file.
If it's not the plugins, and Logic is working fine otherwise, it must be something to do with a particular audio file within the bin. So I moved the Audio Files folder to my desktop and Skipped the locate files option. Still crashes.
All software is up to date. Any suggestions? Here's the most recent crash report, after disabling all plugins and moving the audio files:

    Hello all,
One of my projects crashed and now it won't re-open.
    I tried re-booting.
I trashed my preference files and restarted.
I can open Logic Pro, and other project files OK. I opened the Audio Units Manager and disabled ALL plugins, Quit Logic and restarted. Still crashes when opening this project file.
Hi, it looks like a Project file corruption from what you are writing.
Let's try one more thing before going any further!
We will disable the Audio Drivers:
Hold down Control immediately (NOT TOGETHER) after clicking Logic in your Dock.
    A dialog will open :
    Press "Don't".
    Does the problematic project open?

  • Is there an upgrade path from Logic Pro 9 to Logic Pro X?

I convinced a friend to purchase Logic Pro 9, not knowing version X was about to be released 3 weeks later.   Even though upgrade path always crosses my mind prior to a software purchase, I was not worried - this was Apple.  Now it's looking like there's not a built-in upgrade path at all (as there IS with just about every other software company I have bought from).  Is this for real?  This friend has version 9, and I have version X.  So this friend learned everything there is to know about version 9, then I bought version X not even knowing we were out of synch on versions.   We were hoping to work on songwriting together, but paying $200 again is out of the question.  I notice that the file save under version X has extension .logicx, so is it even possible to exchange files?

my friend with Logic Pro 9 can send files to me but they cannot accept files created with Logic Pro X.
Which is exactly what i said earlier....
You can open Logic Pro 9 projects in LPX but not the other way around.
Apple wouldn't even give me a refund on Logic Pro X (purchased just 3 days ago), which is useless to me now.
There are no refunds from the App Store... That is what you agreed to when you purchased a license for LPX.
Your choice is simply for your friend to update to Logic Pro X or use the audio stem process I outlined earlier (Not something i would recommend doing for any period of time)... or spend even more money on purchasing two copies of a different DAW...  and taking the time to learn them and spending time converting over what your friend has already created... and hope your friend hasn't been using the internal plugins found only in Logic Pro... otherwise you have even more work to do...
The reality is, the sensible solution is simply to upgrade LP9 to LPX for $200... (and think of it as the upgrade price even though you can buy the full version for the same amount but that really doesn't matter does it?) Less outlay, less time lost and less hassle, but as always the choice is yours...
I have never, EVER, encountered a software company that treated customers that way.
Then you haven't been in the computer business that long......
Seriously though, you haven't been treated that badly...
You bought LPX at a price that is basically a steal.... and your friend bought LP9 at the same 'deal' of a price.. compared to what Logic Pro used to cost ($1000)
You can 'upgrade' from LP9 to LPX for $200 which is much cheaper than it used to cost to upgrade from , say LP8 to LP9... and the same price as it cost to upgrade to LP9 via the App Storeprior to the release of LPX
The alternatives at this stage would cost you much more money......time.. and hassle..
The only things that truly frustrating is the timing of your friend's purchase of LP9... For that he has my sympathies but it happens... Some people who bought Logic Pro 9 within a month of Logic Pro X being released were given refunds on the LP9 purchase if they bought LPX... Your friend just left it way too late.... Apple has since stopped such refunds.... and you didn't do the research you should have done before you jumped in and bought LPX... Unfortunate but sadly true.
Again, you and your friend have my sympathies for whatever they are worth... but at least the obvious solution is still cheap compared to what the alternatives could cost you now and in the past!

  • Uninstalling Logic Express 7.2 after installing Logic Pro 7.2 Upgrade

    hi guys,
my gf just bought me the logic pro 7.2 upgrade from logic express that i use and i have a quick question to ask..
i have installed and updated Logic Pro to 7.2.3 -- what do i do with Logic Express app? do i just drag and drop it to my trash to uninstall it? I want to free up some space on my HD so will Logic Pro now work if i uninstall my Logic Express? If this is the case, then if i remove Logic Express from my HD by dragging the .app file into the trash is it safe to assume i will not delete any folders that will prevent Logic Pro from working?
    Thanks!
    super excited about upgrade!!!!!

    sparco.

    Hey Sparco.
I was wondering the same thing, as I've recently done this as well (bought LP after owning LE, that is). I was always wondering whether or not I needed it there, or even GB for that matter. I almost deleted LE/GB, until I realized that the programs themselves aren't taking up that much space. What takes up the most space are the sample libraries, apple loops (at least the non-midi ones), and perhaps some of the plugins. As far as I can tell, Logic Pro will install as a separate app, but it will share all of the file resources with LE and GB, and just add extra stuff on top (like the ES2, Scultpure, etc etc). I don't think you'd be saving all that much space getting rid of LE.
Besides, having LE around means that you don't ALWAYS need the xskey. Perfect for anyone running a laptop.

  • How do I completely (!) uninstall "Logic Pro X" with all associated files?

    Hey guys,
I'm a relatively new MAC user.
I'm sitting here since two hours to figure out how I can uninstall "Logic Pro X" and all it's associated files completly?
I found several guides on the internet pointing to different folders which should be deleted.
When I follow those guides all I get are circa four deleted files and 1 GB of free space nothing more.
They are all written for older versions of Logic (mostly 8 and 9)!
So maybe someone here on the official support communities can help me getting rid of it?

    Hi
If you really want to delete all of it:
    Applications: Logic Pro X
Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple (you may want to keep the GarageBand ones?)
    Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Audio:Impulse Responses
    Macintosh HD:Lbrary:Application Support:Logic
That should get most/all of it

No, you can't. The Mac App Store doesn't know that you have a Logic Studio box.
