Can't run JavaFX app as a jar file from command line

I'm trying to build a JavaFX app from scratch (that is, by including the jar file from the JavaFX SDK rather than by using the special JavaFX project type from NetBeans). It runs fine in NetBeans. However, when I try to launch it as a jar file from the command line (using "java -jar dist\TestApp") I get the following. Has anybody seen this before, and if so how can I fix it?:
*** Fallback to Prism SW pipeline

Unsatisfied link means that Java is trying to access a native library, but it cannot be found. As to why this error is being thrown, here is my guess:
If you open up one of the sample jars with a zip viewer, you will see that the Manifest file has the following entries:
>
Manifest-Version: 1.0
JavaFX-Version: 2.0
implementation-vendor: Oracle
implementation-title: BrickBreaker
implementation-version: 1.0
JavaFX-Application-Class: brickbreaker.Main
Created-By: JavaFX Packager
Main-Class: com/javafx/main/Main
>
In other words, a JavaFX project works a bit differently than a normal Java project. com/javafx/main/Main is used as the Main class and your "Main" class is called later.
If you are trying to build this from a normal Java project, then com/javafx/main/Main will not be created and it will call your Main class right away. Thus, whatever setup is needed to run JavaFX will not occur.

  • Executing jar file on command line [windows]

    Hi,
    I am trying to run .jar file "senthil.jar" . It catures systems screenshot.
    http://sensaran.wordpress.com/2010/06/04/screen-shot-utility-using-air-2-0/
    I am using it in AIR application. I want to execute this file from  command line. I am not sure how to pass command line arguments.
    Currently i am trying to do it like :  java -jar senthil.jar
    I need to provide a parameter as "Print Screen"
    Its corresponding Flex Code is :
                var arg:Vector.<String> = new Vector.<String>;
                arg.push("-jar");
                arg.push(File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("senthil.jar").nativePath);
                 var file:File = new File();
                file = file.resolvePath(javaPath.replace(/\//g, File.separator));
                var npInfo:NativeProcessStartupInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo();
                npInfo.executable = file;
                npInfo.arguments = arg;
                nativeProcess = new NativeProcess();
                nativeProcess.start(npInfo);
                nativeProcess.standardInput.writeMultiByte("Print Screen" + "\n", "utf-8");
    Thanks

    Did you give the -jar option with javaw? And the "%1"? See the file associations of some other extensions for example of how to do this
    For example on my machine,
    W:\>assoc .mp3
    .mp3=Winamp.File
    W:\>ftype Winamp.File
    Winamp.File="C:\Program Files\Winamp\Winamp.exe" "%1"Now I can
    start song.mp3Or doubleclick on mp3 file in explorer to open it in winamp.

  • Running Unit Test from test manager that run bat file from command line

    Hi ,
    I am trying to run Jsystem (java framewotk) from command line using runScenario.bat thru unit test that i associated to test in test manager.
    the idea is that when i ran the automated test  from MTM - it will run the the unit test that will run the appropriate test case in java.
    i wrote the code like this :
    using System;
    using Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting;
    namespace UnitTestProject3
    [TestClass]
    public class UnitTest1
    [TestMethod]
    public void TestMethod1()
    try
    String command = "c:\\JSYSTEM\\runner\\runScenario.bat
    c:\\Users\\ryeshua\\Source\\Workspaces\\Auto1\\my-tests-project\\target\\classes scenarios\\feature1 RoeySetup.xml ";
    System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo procStartInfo =
    new System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo("cmd", "/c " + command);
    procStartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
    procStartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
    //procStartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
    System.Diagnostics.Process proc = new System.Diagnostics.Process();
    proc.StartInfo = procStartInfo;
    proc.Start();
    string result = proc.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd();
    Console.WriteLine(result);
    catch (Exception objException)
    // Log the exception
    and when i ran it from visual studio it worked perfect. and update  the Jsystem logs of the junit test in the jsystem/runner/log folder.
    but when i added it to associated test and ran it from MTM - it pass but it does not update  the logs in jsystem folder.
    the problem that i dont know what is not working. i cant see the output of it when i ran from mtm but can see when i ran from VS.
    i am using VS 2013 Pro with MTM 2013.
    please advice
    Roey

    Hi Roey,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    Based on your issue, could you please tell me how you generate the log file under the jsystem folder?
    Generally, I know that when we run unit test from VS IDE, the file will be saved into the local machine. But when we run unit test from MTM, the unit test method will be run on the test agent machine, so the file will be saved into the test agent machine.
    Therefore, I suggest you could check if you did not see the updated logs file in jsystem folder on the test agent machine.
    In addition, I suggest you could try to copy this unit test project on this test agent machine and then run the unit test method using mstest.exe in command line and then check if you can update the logs file.

  • Run PDF File from command line and goto a bookmark

    Hi,
    I need to open a pdf file vi command line (WinXP / Win7).
    Till this I do not have a problem.
    But I need to go to a bookmark in the file direct after opening the file.
    I tried "acrord23.exe /a nameddest=BOOKMARK file.pdf" but this opened only the file.
    "acrord23.exe /a zoom=50 file.pdf" works fine.
    Is there another parameter to go to a bookmark after open a file?
    Where is my mistake?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    Hi,
    I read the PDF Open Parameters reference. So I tried the nameddest. I think the nameddest is a bookmark, or is this wrong?
    The background is, that we have the dokumentation for our application in word. So we save the word as pdf. Each chapter is now a bookmark.
    In the application we want to call the pdf and jump to the bookmark. Each frame were you can call "help" is a chapter/bookmark.
    Or is there another way to do this?

  • Can't open .term Terminal.app files from command line

    Howdy. I use Terminal.app constantly for ssh'ing into numerous remote machines. On my G4 Powerbook I have simply created .term files with customized colors, titlebars, and an appropriate ssh execution string for each machine/userid combination, which I am able to open with "open ~/bin/foo.term". Life is no longer so joyously simple on my new Intel iMac. I create a .term file (via Cmd-s while in a terminal window), but the above command to open foo.term now simply doesn't work on my iMac once a single terminal window has been opened (even after it's been closed) -- I can start one such file only from the finder or via Launchbar or Quicksilver. The only way I can use my .term files is by switching to Terminal and selecting File...Open and clicking on the .term file -- which, being a command line (and Launchbar) junkie, I hate, of course. Applescripts don't work either.
    I would be forever grateful if someone could tell me how to fix this problem!

    I cannot do it either.
    Ah, interesting -- thanks for the input. I had thought the problem might have something to do with the fact that I was using an Intel iMac, but you are using a PPC iBook. The problem isn't with 10.4.6 either, as that is what I'm running on my G4 Powerbook, and the .term files work as expected on that machine.
    Initially I thought it was a
    problem with permissions, i.e the term file hadn't
    the execute bit set (which it did not). Setting the x
    bit though did not help at all.
    Right, the .term files aren't executable.
    A work around was to
    save the command(s) into a plain text document in
    text edit (not rtf) as a .command file (no txt
    extension in this case) and set its execute bit in
    terminal (sudo chmod u+x ...).
    I don't quite understand the workaround -- what command(s) exactly did you put into the .command file? Could you paste the contents of such a file here?
    I have not dealt with term files extensively but I
    noticed that .term files are xml ones. Could anyone
    shed some light in possible changes in the way
    terminal handles them?
    Since the .term files work as desired on my Powerbook, it now doesn't appear that Terminal.app has changed its processing of the files. Something else is going on here.

  • How to create and use library JAR files with command-line tools?

    Development Tools -> General Questions:
    I am trying to figure out how to put utility classes into JAR files and then compile and run applications against those JAR files using the command-line javac, jar, and java tools. I am using jdk1.7.0_17 on Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.7.
    I have posted a simple example with one utility class, one console application class, and a Makefile:
    http://holgerdanske.com/users/dpchrist/java/examples/jar-20130520-2134.tar.gz
    Here is a console session:

    $ cat src/com/example/util/Hello.java

         System.out.println("hello, " + arg);
    2013-05-20 21:39:12 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ cat src/com/example/hello/HelloConsole.java

    import static com.example.util.Hello.hello;
    public class HelloConsole {

    chmod +x hello
    2013-05-20 21:39:28 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar
    $ ./hello
    hello, world!I believe I am looking for:
    1. Command-line invocation of "jar" to put the utility class bytecode file (Hello.class) into a JAR?
    2. Command-line invocation of "javac" to compile the application (HelloConsole.java) against the JAR file?
    3. Command-line invocation of "java" to run the application (HelloConsole.class) against the JAR file?
    I already know how t compile the utility class file.
    Any suggestions?
    TIA,
    David

    I finally figured it out:
    1. All name spaces must match -- identifiers, packages, file system, JAR contents, etc..
    2. Tools must be invoked from specific working directories with specific option arguments, all according to the project name space.
    My key discovery was that if the code says
    import com.example.util.Hello;then the JAR must contain
    com/example/util/Hello.classand I must invoke the compiler and interpreter with an -classpath argument that is the full path to the JAR file
    -classpath ext/com/example/util.jarThe code is here:
    http://holgerdanske.com/users/dpchrist/java/examples/jar-20130525-1301.tar.gz
    Here is a console session that demonstrates building and running the code two ways:
    1. Compiling the utility class into bytecode, compiling the application class against the utility bytecode, and running the application bytecode against the utility bytecode.
    2. Putting the (previously compiled) utility bytecode into a JAR and running the application bytecode against the JAR. (Note that recompiling the application against the JAR was unnecessary.)
    (If you don't know Make, understand that the working directory is reset to the initial working directory prior to each and every command issued by Make):
    2013-05-25 14:02:47 dpchrist@desktop ~/sandbox/java/jar

  • Need help compiling external jar files into my one jar file from cmd line

    Here is my problem, let me see if I can explain it right:
    I am making a jar file on my development computer that will run my java project. In this java project, it references a couple Java3D jar files. On my development computer, I create the jar file and it runs correctly, but when I move that jar file over to the test computer, the parts of the application needing those Java3D jars are not found in my jar I created. I isolated the problem and it is because those Java3D jar files I needed are not on my test machine. But that is the way I need it to be. I need it so that when I compile all my code on the development machine, I need it to also compile those two Java3D files into my one jar that I move to the test machine. You get what I'm saying? I must do all the compiling from the command line and have only one jar file to put on the test machine that contains all my compiled code and the two Java3D files needed to run some of the applications in the project.
    Here a brief sample of what I'm doing:
    To compile my java files in my project, I simply to this for all my files:
    javac file.java
    javac file2.java... and so on for all my java files.
    Then I create my jar file:
    jar -cfm MyJar.jar manifest.mf file.class
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf file2.class... and so on for all my class files.
    Also when compiling my jar file, I do this thinking that it would include the two Java3D jars into my one jar file:
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org-images.jar
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org.jar
    My manifest file looks something like this:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Main
    Class-Path: jars/j3d-org.jar jars/j3d-org-images.jar
    Do I have to have that Class-Path in there pointing to those jar files? Those jar files will not exist on my test machine because the directory structure will not be the same. I've tried a manifest without specifying my Class-Path to those jar files, but I get the same problem when I run my application on the part that needs the Java3D files.
    The error I am getting is that there is a RasterTextLabel class inside one of those Java3D jar files that my application cannot access because those jar files are not on my test machine.
    So basically what I really need to know is how I get those two Java3D jar files compiled into my one jar file that I move to a test machine and run with the following command:
    java -jar MyJar.jar
    Can anyone help me??
    Thanks.

    Here what you need is to have all the files present in a single jar file, and the classpath is set properly to the required jar files.
    Do the following in steps:
    1)
    Create a custom manifest file,say mymanifest.mf, with the following contenets, put it in current directory:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.0_01 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    main-Class: Main
    Class-Path: jars/j3d-org.jar jars/j3d-org-images.jar <press ENTER key>
    2)
    jar -cfm MyJar.jar manifest.mf file.class
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf file2.class... and so on for all class files.
    3)
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org.jar
    jar -fmu MyJar.jar manifest.mf jars/j3d-org-images.jar
    (Make sure that j3d-org-images.jar and j3d-org.jar are present in a subdirectory called 'jars')
    Now you would be able to run,
    java -jar myjar.jar

  • Can flash player app be run and controlled in a system with only command line?

    I want to test my.  flash app in a remote linux pc. I am not permitted to install  desktop environment in that remote pc.
    So I am wondering if I can use flashplayer_10_sa_debug to run my app in a system with only command line access.
    And further, can I use some command option to interact with my app for doing something?
    If not , how can I reach my goal? Can you give me some advices?

    Hi,
    Can we get a status update for this? This seems to have broken Mac Projector files when published from a PC. Our old CD-ROM presentations no longer work. They throw the same error.
    Is there a bug ticket that we can follow? Any sort of timeline? I need to give an answer to my client on when this will be fixed. Telling them to disable Gatekeeper isn't really a great solution.

  • Running jar files from the command line

    I have always felt it would be useful to run a jar file from th command line in EXACTLY the same way as an EXE. On some systems, typing MYAPP.JAR will run the app, but doesn't output and command line data, so it only works for GUI apps. I've come up with a tiny C program that runs java -jar xxxx.jar for you.
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string.h>
    #include <process.h>
    void main(int argc,char *argv[])
         char cmd[1024];
         strcpy(cmd,"java -jar ");
         strcat(cmd,argv[0]);
         strcat(cmd,".jar");
         for(int arg=1;arg<argc;arg++)
              strcat(cmd," ");
              strcat(cmd,argv[arg]);
         system(cmd);
    }Simply compile this to an exe, rename the exe to the name of your jar file and put it in the same directory. Then just type 'MyJarFile' (no jar extension) and it should run. It passes all command live args as well. Comments ?

    Here's a better version. The JAR and the EXE can be anywhere in the PATH:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>
    #include <process.h>
    void main(int argc,char *argv[])
         char jar[1024];
         char cmd[1024];
         strcpy(cmd,argv[0]);
         strcat(cmd,".jar");
         _searchenv(cmd,"PATH",jar);
         strcpy(cmd,"java -jar ");
         strcat(cmd,jar);
         for(int arg=1;arg<argc;arg++)
              strcat(cmd," ");
              strcat(cmd,argv[arg]);
         system(cmd);
    }

  • Multiple jar files from different locations

    Hello,
    I am having an applet that access code from two different jar files. Of them one is a common jar file for many applets. So I couldn't place it in the local dir as that of the applet's html. I am not using any web server.
         Just to give you a feel of it :
         <PARAM NAME = archive VALUE = "DVApplet.jar,DVVP.jar" > are the jar files my applet is dependant on. But DVVP.jar has to be accessed from a dir different from local dir.
         Will be glad if someone can throw some light on accessing different jar files from different dirs.
         Thanks for your time.
    Regards,
    Anantha

    You can use a class loader to do such things.

  • How to run an executable from command-line

    I'm learning how to use the Terminal and I got stuck in a silly thing (I suppose it is). How can I run an executable file from command-line in Terminal?
    For example: I have a file named "Hello" in the folder /sample. If I use the ls command (ls sample), I can see the file Hello. Then I move to the directory (cd /sample) and try to run the file Hello (typing "Hello") but I got "command not found" message.
    If I drag the Hello file from Finder to Terminal and hit Return, it runs perfectly. And if I type the full path to the file (even if I'm already inside its directory), it also runs.
    So, my doubt is if there is any command to run an executable from command-line.
    Thanks

    I never had to resort to doing that?

    I took the trouble of reading *man bash* and it explains the issue. to add the current directory to PATH you need to add an empty path to PATH like this
    PATH=$PATH::
    you can add it to ~/.bash_profile so that it's executed automatically when you start bash. I suspect the linux system you are talking about had this set up by default or had it added to PATH in /etc/profile which defines PATH globally.
