Can't startup connection pool
Hi All,
I have defined a connection pool to Sybase ASE 12.0. On WLS startup, the connection
fails due to a login failure. Needless to say, the user and passwords are absolutely
the right ones. IN included the def for the pool (config.xml) and the log output
below. Any ideas?
From config.xml:
<JDBCConnectionPool
DriverName="com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver"
Name="egate2-pool"
Password="none"
Properties="user=mfinn;password=mfi123"
URL="jdbc:sybase:Tds:egate2.dev.east.frontiercorp.com:4100"
CapacityIncrement="1"
InitialCapacity="1"
MaxCapacity="2"
RefreshMinutes="0"
ShrinkPeriodMinutes="15"
ShrinkingEnabled="true"
Targets="mjf375"
TestConnectionsOnRelease="false"

/>
<JDBCDataSource
JNDIName="egate2-jdbcds"
Name="egate2"
PoolName="egate2-pool"
RowPrefetchEnabled="false"
StreamChunkSize="256"
/>
From weblogic.log:

Hi Mike. Don't specify the password except
as you have done in the properties. Let me
know...

Just to add:
1) I can login to the same URL (same login and password) from a standalone app
using the com.sybase.jdbc.SybDriver in the weblogic.jar. This is with user/password
being set in a properties object, as I assume is happening in WLS when the connection
is attempted. IOW, I am using getConnection(url,props) as opposed to getConnection(url,user,passwd,props).
2) The problem stated below also applies against a ASE 11.9.2 server.

marcoHi. Read the weblogi startServer script, and the startWLS script it calls. These
scripts build up a string which is added to the java commandline that starts
the server, with an argument -classpath ....... Unless the driver shows up there,
the server doesn't see it.
However, we already include a version of the oracle thin driver. It may not be
the best (it's old), so you will want to make sure you version gets in to the classpath
argument ahead of our stuff, but the old driver would have been invoked...
Therefore, I suspect your URL is not exactly correct. Please verify that this exact URL
works in a simple standalone JDBC program using the driver you want, without any
weblogic code in the picture.
thanks,

Can I create connection pool by oracle oci driver?
Can I create connection pool by oracle oci driver?My weblogic's version is 6.1 sp2 and oracle is 9.0.1.2.
I have some trouble with connection pool created by weblogic jDriver.
I try to read Timestamp from table and I always get the exception.It told me that ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes.
So I created another pool by oracle thin driver and everything was right.Then I created other pool by oracle oci driver,but something were wrong. 'Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was:java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06401: NETCMN:Invalid driver designator'
The oci pool's parameters are below lines.
url: jdbc:oracle:oci:@COCO
Driver Classname: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Properties: user=scott;password=tiger;protocol=oci
If I get connection directly,don't use connection pool,I can get right connection.But why didn't I create pool by oci driver?Maybe weblogic7 or weblogic8 will work good?Venkat Amirineni wrote:
Hi Joe,
I am also trying to create a connection pool using Oracle Oci XA. Weblogic
type 2 oci threads hanging on native calls and suggested to go for thin drivers.
But we want to try with Oracle Oci drivers.. Can you please tell us how to
create a conn pool using Oracle Oci.. Just the driverclass and url is enough
or need any classpath settings etc..
Thanks in advance for your quick reply.Hi. As far as driver properties, just use what Oracle says to. Any pool properties
that we recommend for XA would still apply. Note that Oracle themselves recommends
the thin driver over their OCI one:

How can i use connection pool within the sqlj?
hello
i am a beginner to sqlj,i find all of the sample code from the oracle DON'T use connectionpool,they only write the database url to "connection.properties" file,but i think in the production environment we should use the connectionpool to optimise the querying,i usually use the weblogic connection pool.
how can i use the connection pool within the sqlj?
thank you very much!Im not sure if I understand. :)
English is not my best language...
Looking up the connection again? Do you mean I have to create new DataSource object and bind it again to ServletContext? -
Can't create connection pool using weblogic 6.1 with Oracle thin driver
Hi !
I have tried to create a connection pool from adminconsole. My CLASSPATH setting
is as follows :
F:\SOAP\soap-2_2\lib;F:\SOAP\soap-2_2;
D:\Oracle\Ora81\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;
D:\Oracle\Ora81\jdbc\lib\nls_charset12.zip;

E:\bea\wlserver6.1\lib;

Following is the configuration.

weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.thin=\
url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@test:1521:PROJECT,\
driver=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,\

#Add a TXDataSource for the connection pool:

Hi Joe !
I didn't get what you would like to point out. Actully, I am using same config.,
but not to disclose the info. I gave you @test and username/password xxx/xxx.Ok. Now, assuming your pool looks like what I showed, the issue is probably
that there are multiple Oracle driver zips around, and your standlaone program
is using a different, newer, better one than the server. Our weblogic jar files
include a classes12.zip Oracle thin driver, but there are multiple versions of
classes12.zip, and the latest from oracle is better than the one we sealed into
our packaging. Please use jave -verbose to identify exactly which Oracle sip file
you are using in the successful case, then make sure this zip file comes before
any weblogic stuff in your weblogic server's classpath, so we'll use the same
driver. This should work. Edit the script you sue to start weblogic to verify
the classpath does end up with the oracle driver ahead of all weblogic stuff.

.MadhuriWell fine! That was easy. Your pool definition didn't have the same URL
or
user or password as this code. Try this for your pool definition:
weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.thin=\
url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@adl-gbsdevel:1521:PROJECT,\
driver=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver,\
initialCapacity=10,\
maxCapacity=10,\
capacityIncrement=1,\

Joseph Weinstein <[email protected]> wrote:
The key is in the log:
Could not create pool connection.
The DBMS driver exception was:
java.sql.SQLException: invalid arguments in call
at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:168)
Now we need to simplify the problem. Please make a simple 15-line
standalone
Java program like you'd find with the Oracle driver's examples, with
no
weblogic code in the picture. Just make a JDBC connection using Oracle's
driver, and show me that code. Then I can translate that into a pool
definition.

I am running WLS 6.1 and Oracle 8.1.7 on windows (separate machines). The
connection pool settings are:
<JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="0"
DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource" InitialCapacity="40"
MaxCapacity="40" Name="dbdev1XAPool"
Properties="user=cmauser;password=admin;dataSourceName=dbdev1"
RefreshMinutes="15" ShrinkingEnabled="false" SupportsLocalTransaction="true"
Targets="cmatest" TestTableName="hppcontentsource" />
I have not had any problems connecting to the same database through regular
JDBC connection pools or through the utils.dbping utility.
What am I doing wrong?This is a dup message. Add "DebugConfigInfo OFF" in httpd.conf.

How can I use the Connection Pool with DB2
Hi All,
I am facing the problem with the usage for the Connection Pool.
I want to use DB2 via JNDI lookup.
But when starting the Weblogic server, Error occured with the following message.
<Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection pool "MyJDBCPool" Cannot load driver class : com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver>
DB2 and Weblogic are on the same machine.
In case of the use of remote DB2 database, I also encountered the same error.
Configurations are as follows.
<JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="com.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver"
MaxCapacity="10" Name="MyJDBCPool"
Password="{3DES}gCGsOfD9M6iwOtgL2v/NpA==" Targets="myserver"
TestConnectionsOnReserve="false" TestTableName="test" URL="jdbc:db2://localhost:6789/yongjoo"/>
<SNMPAgent Name="mydomain"/>
<JDBCDataSource JNDIName="acsdb" Name="acsdb" PoolName="MyJDBCPool" Targets="myserver"/>
Could you please give some information about this problem? I will appreciate your kindness.Hi Joe,
Thanks your help.
Perhaps It's my fault for Weblogic console's setting.
After I reset the target server in console, Error message disappeared.
But, when I call the TestCode, I encountered another error message. The error
is NameNotFoundException.
When lookingup the JNDI name, NameNotFoundException errer occured. I tried to
change my setting and JNDI name, but the results are the same.
Would you please give me some information about this one more time? I will be
appreciated for your help.
Follows are Config.xml

Connection Pool Failure: "No suitable driver"
Hi,
Upon server startup, I get the following result:
<Nov 7, 2001 4:18:32 PM CST> <Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection pool "ora
cleTrufflePool" No suitable driver>
I assumed it was a path problem, but in the startWebLogic.cmd script I've set the PATH and CLASSPATH variables to the same as in a separate command window that can successfully dbping the Oracle db.
One thing I completely don't understand is what the URL value should be for the pool, and I can't see a pattern in the examples and docs I've found on this. Here are my pool settings, at any rate:
Name: oracleTrufflePool
URL: myOracleServerName
Driver Classname: weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver
Properties:
user=user
password=password
server=myOracleServerName
ACLName: user
Password: password
As you can see, I also don't understand whether the Oracle user name and password must be duplicated in the Properties section, or should they really only be listed in the ACLName and Password fields (in the Server Console UI)?
TIA,
SteveHi. The issue is that the URL you give is not the URL the driver (weblogic.jdbc.oci.Driver)
wants. The URL should be "jdbc:webLogic:oci". The properties user, password and server
will be passed to the driver for conenction attempts. The ACL is for who gets to use the
pool, and the other password entry is only if you need the DBMS password to be encrypted
in the XML. If so, set that password value, and don't have it in the driver properties.

An error has occured.
Operation 'create.Jdbc.ConnectionPool' failed in 'resources' Config Mbean. Target exception message :

But the connection pool for the SQL Server was not there in the list.
What may be the possible reason for this error.
i was trying to deploy a BMP entiy bean using the Sun Application Server.
Prior deploying i just tried to create connection pool and test the connection using the Admin Console

KritiHi. I am no expert, but it sounds like a problem with the privileges the user
has... The best thing is to step back to a simpler environment. Can you try
connecting to DB2 with a simple program like utils.dbping? Please look at our
driver docs for the DB2 driver, because there are several variations in connect
properties depending on the type of DB2 you are connecting to...

MartinHi Martin,
Using oracles Advanced Security Options can cause this, comment security
related lines out of your "sqlnet.ora" they generally have the words,
ENCRYPTION or CRYPTO in them.
Also try to set ORACLE_SID environment variable, like in the server startup
script.
ORACLE_SID=<SID_NAME>
export ORACLE_SID
Try it and see if it works. This is purely an Oracle issue not WebLogic
related. Try to contact Oracle support if you cannot resolve the issue with
above steps. You may have to reinstall the Client.

Cannot create connection pool with weblogic jDriver XA for oracle
Hi everybody,
we have serious problems configuring the weblogic jDriver for Oracle with support
for distributed transactions.
Everything works fine with the non-XA driver.
We tried the suggestions given here before like setting the environment variable
ORACLE_SID. However, this does not change the errors we get. We use Weblgic Server
6.1 SP2 with oracle 8.1.7 (client and server) under Windows NT.
When attempting to create the connection pool, we get the following exception:
Starting Loading jDriver/Oracle .....
<14.05.2002 15:48:30 CEST> <Error> <JDBC> <Cannot startup connection pool "DiplPool"
weblogic.common.ResourceException: java.sql.SQLException: open failed for XAResource
'DiplPool' with error XAER_RMERR : A resource manager error has occured in the transaction
branch. Check Oracle XA trace file(s) (if any) for database errors. The Oracle XA
trace file(s) are located at the directory where you start the Weblogic Server, and
have names like xa_<pool_name><MMDDYYYY>.trc.

The trace file looks like this:

We suspect that we do not set the properties of the connection pool correctly. The
declaration of the pool in config.xml looks something like the following:
<JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="1" DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
InitialCapacity="10" MaxCapacity="15" Name="DiplPool"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;url=jdbc:weblogic:oracle:srlaptop_aidenbach.muc.sdm-research.de;dataSourceName=DiplPool"
Targets="Marvin" TestTableName="privcust" URL="jdbc:weblogic:oracle:srlaptop_aidenbach.muc.sdm-research.de"/>
Are there any known issues with the XA driver and the versions of oracle and Weblogic
we use? Can someone tell us how exactly we have to define the connection pool or
provide an example?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
MichaelHi Michael
Here is an example connection pool tag,
<JDBCConnectionPool
Name="oraXAPool"
Targets="myserver"
DriverName="weblogic.jdbc.oci.xa.XADataSource"
InitialCapacity="1"
MaxCapacity="10"
CapacityIncrement="2"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;server=ORCL"
/>
Ensure that the server=ORCL is replaced by server=<what ever the Alias is
defined in TNSNAMES.ORA file>
You dont have to specify the URL for this.
