Can we put config.xml outside of domain directory?

Hi,
          I am currently working on Admin server failover under weblogic 8.1 clustering.
          I want to put config.xml outside of domain directory, if hosted machine of admin server is unreacheable, I want to build the admin server from another box using the config.xml we kept aside of domain directory.
          Idea is, All configuration files (startWeblogic.sh, config.xml etc.,) want to keep another box, we use these configuration files from admin server hosted machine. Please let me know, whether this is feasible? if so, Please suggest me solution.
          Thanks,
          Murthy P.

yes, we can place config.xml outside of domain directory.
          We have to include in startup script as,
          -Dweblogic.RootDirectory=/u/murthy/examples/config/
          Thanks,

    Can anybody help me?

    Hi Sonal,
    As mentioned in the SAP note 886209, that is the route to find this file, what i recommend you is to check the Server in this path ... \cluster\*server0*\apps\sap...

  • Storing config.xml in a separate directory (/home/secure/config) !

    Hi All,
    We wanted to keep the config.xml file alone in a different directory
    I have tried using the -Dweblogic.ConfigFile system property during weblogic server startup it did NOT work out.
    I have also tried using the -Dweblogic.RootDirectory in combination with -Dweblogic.ConfigFile . Even then I am facing a problem "weblogic.management.ManagementRuntimeException: com.rsa.jsafe.JSAFE_PaddingException"
    I would like to keep just the config.xml in a separate directory like for e.g. /home/secure/config/config.xml and wanted to point the domain I have created to use the config.xml stored under /home/secure/config directory.
    Any pointers to info source will be REALLY appreciated.
    Many Thanks in Advance,

    well it all about applying your programming logic..Why don't you write a dedicated servlet which can locate that particular in your computer and then send out the downloadable content for you by streaming the data.
    checkout the below example of one my recent posts where i'm trying to locate an image file and giving an option of opening that file in browser or asking eu to download that file via a customized logic.

  • Anyconnect 4 as 802.1x supplicant replacement for Windows - where to put config xml file?

    I want to try out Anyconnect NAM as a 802.1x supplicant replacement in Windows 8.1
    And I have made myself a fine little config xml file that I want to test.
    But where do I put that config file?
    Should I rename it to something special, or should Anyconnect NAM have some extra startup parameters?
    Thank you.

    The file must be called "configuration.xml" and if you already installed NAM, then put the file in \Users\All Users\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Network Access Manager\newConfigfiles\ and restart the anyconnect service
    If instead you are creating an install package for deploying, you can put the configuration in a directory named Profiles/NAM/  together with the msi package, the installation will import the config itself.when you run the msi file.

    I am installing OIM/OAM in a cluster configuration using release 11.1.1.7.
    I looked at the EDG here:

  • Services-config.xml REALLY necessary?

    Could somebody please clarify why we need the
    "services-config.xml" file when running in the context of Flex
    3/AMFPHP?
    As near as I can tell, "services-config.xml" MIGHT be a
    requirement for running with LiveCycle Data Services, but while I'm
    admittedly new at all this, it seems to me to be completely
    unnecessary or even detrimental when running with Flex 3 and
    AMFPHP. Using the "services-config.xml" file requires that it
    compiled into the project which pretty much makes it fixed at run
    time. By expressing it programmatically at run time (using AS and
    the appropriate property of the RemoteObject; "endpoint" I think it
    is...), you open the possibility of being able to read the
    appropriate URL from an INI file or something, very handy if you
    are installing your SWF on different servers with potentially
    different directory structures.
    Could somebody please clarify this for me?
    And would somebody PLEASE put up a good Flex 3, Flex Builder
    3, AMFPHP set of tutorials/examples? Considering how important
    accessing backend data is, you would think such examples would be
    common as dirt, but they're not. All I can find are a bunch of Flex
    2 examples, and the occasional Flex 3 example INSISTS on using
    "services-config.xml".
    Thanks in advance.

    Ah I see they've included it in a seperate file:

  • Auto update via Jabber-Config.xml file

    All,
         I wan't to force J4W updates via the jabber-config.xml file, but that's the only thing I want to do.  Can the jabber-config.xml file be populated only with the auto update option and nothing else so the user still has control over their own client's options?  Or, do the rest of the options need to be defined within the xml file as well?  The install guide seems to indicate that one can pick and choose the J4W options they want to globally set within the jabber-config.xml file, but it's not entirely clear.
    Thanks,
    Joe.

    Hi Joe,
    yes, you are right. You only have to define settings in the jabber-config.xml file that are not default. Everything else stays default.

  • Templating config.xml

    Hello all,
    I am trying to port my application from 5.1 to 6.1. We
    used to template our properties file by having place holders for certain
    properties which would get filled when we installed WLS by an inhouse
    install program. Is this an approach that is still recommended for 6.1
    given the fact that BEA recommends that we do not modify config.xml ?
    Can we template config.xml ? I agree it may not be valid xml.
    Something like this
    <JDBCConnectionPool CapacityIncrement="1"
    DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" InitialCapacity="4"
    LoginDelaySeconds="1" MaxCapacity="5" Name="thinPool"
    Properties="user=adinakar" ShrinkPeriodMinutes="15"

  • Where do I put config files for a webapp (war file)?

    To my understanding a war file is supposed to be dropped in. It's isn't intended to be unzipped by the person installing the webapp. Inside my web app I have some xml files I access to get configuration information for how the servlet works. This xml file is intended to be edited by the sysadmin using the webapp. So, it's obvious I can't put my xml file inside my war file otherwise they'd have to unzip it to edit it. So my question is, where do I put it? What is the normal place to put stuff like this for a webapp?
    Example:
    I make a servlet (or jsp/custom tags) that generates an explorer-like directory tree. It reads the tree folders and files from an xml file. So one sysadmin might make a tree that looks like this:
    Fruit
    |-apples
    | |-Gala
    |-oranges
    |-pears
    another sysadmin might make a tree that looks like this:
    Bookstore
    |-Technical Books
    | |- JSP to go
    |-Children's Books
    |-Dr Seuss
    And these are defined in the xml file.
    It's driving me crazy because I want to make my webapp deployable in a war file. Since I have to unzip it right now, the war file is useless.
    Thanks,
    David

    I don't have the answer, but I understand your pain. I was trying to figure this out last year before my company went out of business and made this problem go away.
    The issue is that you want to have a user install your webapp by deploying the war file and configure the app without unzipping the war file. If you can start the webapp first, why not just put the default or empty configuration file somewhere in your webapp director structure and write an administration servlet or JSP to configure it.
    If you must configure the application before it can start up, the following might apply.
    The obvious approach would be to install a properties or xml file separately from the war file and let the user edit that file. The problem is that your servlets and jsps need to be able to find it at run time. This is problematic because the current directory for relative paths seems to vary from one server to another. If I remember correctly, on Windows NT running Tomcat, current directory points to C:\jakarta-tomcat-x.x.x\bin. When running Websphere, it points to C:\WINNT. You can figure this out for the server your user is going to be running and have them put the file in one of those places. But I don't like putting my application files in places like that.
    I can't remember at the moment how it works in other servers, but at least in Tomcat you might put the configuration file in the webapps directory with your war file. Then you could have your servlet do a getServletContext().getRealPath() or something like that and back up the path one level to get to the file.
    At one point I thought it would be nice to put the path to the configuration file in the system environment, but we couldn't find any way in Java to get access to it.
    Will.

    if you don't want the JDBC Connection pool ion your domain ,
    please use the config Wizard to configure JDBC connection pool with database
    other that pointbase at the time of creation.
    otherwise using the wizard, you change the properties of exisiting domain.

  • Put several message-bundle in faces-config.xml

    Hello,
    I want to put several message bundle in faces-config.xml.
    How can I do that?
    I tried the following but it didn't worked
    <application>
         <locale-config>
              <default-locale>fr</default-locale>
         </locale-config>
         <message-bundle>

         </message-bundle>
         <message-bundle>
              messages.Messages_en
         </message-bundle>
    </application>

    the system will get automatically the right file depending on the Locale object , so you do not have to mention each file in the faces-config.xml
    <locale-config>
    <default-locale>fr</default-locale>
    <supported-locale>en</supported-locale>
    the supported locale is used by JSF when readind the HTTP header and depending on the language, it will choose the right mesages bundle
    The best way to process is to bind the locale property of the tag <f:view locale=#{Bean.locale}> and to change it dynamically (see class Locale in the sun API)
