Can we query through 5-6gb large database with AIR

As it creates one single file for whole database, can we have 5-6 GB large database if an AIR application requires

There's no arbitrary limit to the database size. It would depend on performance and the user's file system, I suspect. Only you could judge the performance aspect as it should depend on the complexity of your database and queries.

    Thanks Gene,
My index was not being used but now I know why. It wasn't clear to me that the extractor passed to addIndex() and the extractor passed to the filter had to satisfy equals(). That's why I couldn't understand how the right index was chosen, if at all. In my original case, I was using 2 separate anonymous inner classes so I could override extract() to do System.out.println(). When I ran my query, I saw the extract() called once for each element in the cache. After I made the extractors equal, it didn't get called at all, like you indicated, and I can see why that means the index is being used.
I think it would be helpful if your javadocs spelled out the importance of equals instead of the current boilerplate that they now contain. This was the critical piece that I was missing. Adding this information to your implementors' guide about would be helpful, too.
    thanks

  • Update question in a large database with partitions

    Hello All!
Please help me in the following issue; I'm given a database that has partitions from 0 to 63. In each partition there can be 0 to any number of a given field like "NAME" (this may the primary key I think).
How can I update a field in a row corresponding to a "NAME" at a given partition range, if I don't know which NAME belongs to which partition.
Problems: there are around a million of this NAME field and the fastest method is only acceptable. I think I make an update command with a logical condition with a partition range (x<partition<y) and has a where clause like this:
NAME like value1 or like value2.... or like value(10^6) (here I enumerate all of the NAME field) : is it a good way?
How much is the longest where statement that can be given as a query to a database?
Or is it another way to do it?
Thank you for your kind help in advance,
    Balage

I have a list that contains the NAMES, like:
    110
    111
    112
    113
    The table is the following
    NAME OLD PART
    110 0 23
    111 1 23
    112 1 56
The NAME list is in a txt file, the OLD field should be updated according to the NAMES, and I'm writing a perl script to do the job. A thread is given a partition (PART) interval. Like the first thread works on
the PART numbers from 1 to 3... the 2nd is on from 4 to 6.. etc.
The problem is, that the NAME list is huge and I don't know which NAMEs are in a
    given PART interval.
I thought this command will do the job:
UPDATE table SET old = new where 1<= part <=3 AND name LIKE 110 OR LIKE 111 OR LIKE... stc
how long can be the where clause after "name LIKE" as I have plenty of NAME records?
Hope you can understand it, sorry for my bad English,
    regards,
    Balage

  • Working with large database with multiple large tables ( orcale 11)

    Hi all,
I'm trying to read and parse 3 tables:
    NetworkEvent - 500000 entries
    NewTrapEvent - 500000 entries
    NewTrapVlaue - 2000000 entries
I I used 1 JDBC connection, 2 statements and 3 ResultSet( i used same statement for two queries).
    My questions are:
    ==========
    1. Is it reasonable? or should I add more connections? or more statements?
    2. Additionally when creating the Result Set I used the following parameters:
    ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE
    ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY
    and stmt.setFetchSize(1000)
is it valid parameters? should the fetch be larger?
is there any more important parameters that I missed?
    3. When setting the SQL command, I used each command to retrieve all the table entries:
"select * from ana37.NetworkEvent order by detectiontime"
Should I take partial entries in a loop? (for example 100000 in each loop) or is it ok for the Result Set to hold all of the entries( 2 milion)
    4. Can I clean the result set when I finished processing previous entries?
    thx

Why don't you use a stored proc?
    Why are you ordering it?
Should I take partial entries in a loop? Yep. Because software isn't perfect. No point in attempting to process the universe when you know it will fail sometime and it is easier to handle smaller failures than large ones (and you won't have to redo everything.)

    1. How many more phones/ipods/devices can I sync with my iTunes? I know it's 5 computers. What about iphones and ipods?
    No stated limit.
    2. Does Syncing multiple devices mean that all devices and my iTunes will always
have the same content? i.e., If I download a few songs to an iPhone and then sync with iTunes, will itunes then sync that new content to any other devices that I sync with my copy of iTunes, therefore all devices will always attempt to have the same content?
Depends. If all devices are set for automatic synchronization and they all have sufficient capacity to hold your entire iTunes library, then all devices will have identical content and will continue to do so whenever you add new content. If you're using manual synchronization and/or your entire library won't fit on one or more of the devices, then of course whether or not the devices have identical content will depend on you.
    3. How does this affect store purchases? Can I sync multiple devices to the same copy of iTunes and how many times can I sync the purchased iTunes store content to devices? I know it's 5 computers, but what about devices?
    Same answer as #1.
    4. Lastly, can a device such as an iPhone be synced to more than 1 computer/iTunes? Can I sync my iPhone to my own copy of iTunes and then sync again to someone elses and will this then sync new content to all associated computers and synced devices on those computers? Again, what about purchased content in such a scenario?
Unless things have changed, an iPhone can only be synched to a single copy of iTunes. iPods other than the shuffle can be synched to multiple systems by setting to manual sync.

  • Accessing and Managing RAC 10g database with 9i OEM

can i Access and Manage RAC 10g database with 9i OEM? If yes How?

9i EM can 'see' a 10g database and perform some basic functions (rsp. all what is known to 9i). But it cannot manage any 10g functionality , because it doesn't know it. So such a constellation doesn't make really sense. On the other hand 10g EM can manage 8i,9i and 10g databases.

  • XML database query through Java

    Hi all.
I am collecting information about a little application i am trying to build:
    I have an XML database with records divided in a lot of subdirectory (with three or four .xml files);
directories' names are defined by date in format "yyyymmdd",
    the file within are "date_something.xml":
what is the best way to access it by a web app or a java class to search all the dirs adn print results in a readable way (aka not in cmd) ? I need first to define a period of time to search and then some attribute or node to print referred to some element.
I was guessing to use xpath, anyway I ve tryed JSP but it is too difficult and the query i have to do are really simple to build a full servlet.
I am learning xalan through servlet and I think in future this will be my choice but now i need to collect the data by queries without any automation, just to have results for researching and paper writing.
The main problem I found is to search a full series of directory, with transformations i can find out stuff from a single file, but how to do it for a system of directories?
Any suggestion or link to resource would be good also.

By XML database do you mean an actual XML native database, or just a bunch of XML files in a directory structure? If it is an actual XML native database, you should probably use the XML:DB API. If they are just flat files you will need to probably make something that is able to navigate through your directory structure to the documents you want. Once you have that, you can then use XQuery or XPath to get information from those documents. The data is a bunch of directories named by date in format "yyyymmdd", inside each of these there are three or four files .xml
All files have data definitions and schemas but i dont think they are a 'database'. What do u mean "something to navigate through"? A class? Suppose I would like to do it as a webapp what should i have to do?
Yes, I basically meant a class. Before querying the XML file you need something that will retrieve its location. If it's by date you could probably concoct something that takes a Date object and returns a set of File objects. Internally it would traverse the directory trees and find the proper XML file(s).
    >>
If you have a LOT of XML documents I honestly recommend something like the eXist XML Native Database, or another XND. I have been playing with them lately and they are very useful.in this case what i have to do? Take the data and put it into a database by this tool? And then I should acces it by a JSP? There is a program using Xpath instead?Well, yes. You would put the files in the XND. Although I don't know if that's useful or not in your situation. It all depends. I also think you're a bit confused as to what JSPs and XPath are...
JSPs are just Java Server Pages, which get dynamically compiled into servlets. If you are following the MVC pattern for servlets/JSP (which you should), JSPs represent your views while servlets are the controllers. The model would be your XML data in this case. XPath is a way to get at that data. If it was in an XND, you could just throw an XQuery/XPath expression at the database and it would give you back XML documents/fragments representing the results of your query. You don't have to make your own system to find the XML documents. Of course, you do have to learn how to use an XND.
Perhaps you should separate what you are trying to do. You have two problems: 1) how to get the XML data you need. 2) How to present it. You should separate those two completely and learn how to do both before attempting to put it together.

  • How can we suggest a new DBA OCE certification for very large databases?

How can we suggest a new DBA OCE certification for very large databases?
What web site, or what phone number can we call to suggest creating a VLDB OCE certification.
The largest databases that I have ever worked with barely over 1 Trillion Bytes.
Some people told me that the results of being a DBA totally change when you have a VERY LARGE DATABASE.
I could guess that maybe some of the following topics of how to configure might be on it,
    * Partitioning
    * parallel
    * bigger block size - DSS vs OLTP
    * etc
Where could I send in a recommendation?
    Thanks Roger

I wish there were some details about the OCE data warehousing.
Look at the topics for 1Z0-515. Assume that the 'lightweight' topics will go (like Best Practices) and that there will be more technical topics added.

  • SQL query can be executed through TOAD but not through Discoverer

    Hallo, everybody:
Got another problem. A SQL query can be executed through TOAD, but when I want to execute it by a worksheet of Discoverer Plus, it always shows there is no data.
PS: I copied this query from Discoverer Plus to TOAD, which means, this query is generated through the Discoverer. Does anybody know about how could it be?
    Thank you.
    Geng

    Hi,
If you are able to get data in TOAD with the same user credential as that of Discoverer Plus then it will implies an issue with Discoverer.
Else it is privilege issue , your TOAD user has select privilege to the base objects (tables/views etc) where as your Disoverer used does not.
Compare the privileges granted to these 2 users and you can narrow done to the issue .
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha
