Can you create a user entered text field that flows content in a subform?

I am working on a conversion project taking a document library of over 600 forms from Word into PDF, for the most part it's simple and binding fields to the database schema and using subforms is working quite well - however, there are some instances where there is a combination of user entered fields mixed with database fields and in some cases the end user fields are all there are but the amount of content can vary from 250 characters to thousands. The project manager wants a PDF that enables users to enter whatever amount of text they need to and have the form layout function the way it does as if all fields were populated by the database - I don't know of a way to make that work unless content is entered in the schema first (or implement CM and have all users working in LiveCycle, but the database uses PDF, sothat's not an option right now).
If anyone has any ideas how to make these things work I would greatly appreciate hearing about it.

    If you can post your form in the post, I can have a look at it and provide my feedback.
    I created a sample file for your reference..
    1) The Content property for the Page1 was set to Flowed.
    2) Each text box is placed inside a Subform which is also has the content property set to Flowed.
    3) In the Form Properties, under the Default tab, set the PDF render format as Dynamic XML form.
    4) In the Form Properties, under the Preview tab, set the Preview Type as "Interactive Form" and Preview Adobe XML Form as "Dynamic XML form". (this step is for the previewing the PDF in the designer).
    5) Finally save the form as Dynamic XML form. (File Menu -> Save As).

User enters 12345 in a pre filter ----- item_number field and this value exist in the table but its defined as VARCHAR2(2000).
No match is found. Do I need to define this text field in a certain way so that a match occurs - say in the element or source for P1_ITEM_NUMBER.
How does a user entered value of 12345 match a value in the table of 12345 - defined as a varchar2(2000).

Why are you storing numbers in a varchar2?
This is bad designing. (storing date information in a varchar2 field is even worst.)
99% of the time, when the number 12345 does not match the string '12345', it is because the value in the table is actually ' 12345'
Run the following SQL command in the SQL workshop. (you'll need to adjust to match schema,table,column names)
select item_number, length( item_number) as string_length
from schema_name.table_name
If '12345' does not have a string_length of 5, then you have bad data in your database.

How do I create a form with text fields that can continue to multiple pages with out it over lapping

I have created a form in Livecycle and have made every object a sub field. But I am still having the same probably. The text field only continues on to a second page and overlaps the footer I have created at the bottom of the page. I am new to livecycle and have tried a lot of different things to fix this problem. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Wayne. I'll have to try that. Although I'm wondering, doesn't Oracle have plans to use one-way password encryption at some point? making this method of password retrieval break?
I've also found the following article. It talks about how the OIM API can get an authenticated user session from the authenticated WLS session. It's tantalizing! But doesn't really match my use case or reveal the inner mechanics of how the OIM API gets what it needs from WLS; and therefore I don't think I can subvert that mechanism to do impersonation.

Another approach I'm looking at, which works if all i want to do is fire up a session for one specific user (e.g. an unprivileged service account), is to use creds (username and password) stored in the WLS Credential Store (CSF). See appendix A in:

Can you display info from 2 text fields in 1 other text field in a form?

Im trying to make a form where you enter an address. I want that info to display in another part of the same form as well. When I get to the City and State, I want those to be 2 separate fields where you enter that info. Down below, I would like those to display in the same field with a comma separating. I want to do this mostly because you never know what the length of the city name will be and dont wan the state to be so far away to the right of the city jsut to compensate from possible long city names.
I know how to make it display those field in other parts of the form normally, just not how to double them up. I figured if the form was named "text1, text2" or "text1+test2", that might work but it didnt

instead of
RICHMOND VA
because some cities are way long and im a little crammed for space

I have created a form that will be changed by the user from month to month. In this form they may have the need to make some of the font bold.
The text fields that will end up being bold will not be the same every time so I can't format the field to be bold.
Is there any way to allow the user to be able to choose whether a text field is bold or not?

Thanks GKaiseril. When I do that and go to preview the form I see where the properties are listed as an option, but they are in light gray so I can't select them. Any idea why this is happening?

Not sure if the office 365 will allow another installation into the second account, otherwise would just do that and delete the first, if that is possible?

There is no merge but you can move data from one account to another via the Shared folder. Data is copied from Shared. Watch your free space when copying. These are large files. Do one at a time if you are on a small drive. After making copy, delete from other users before you start next copy.
Office365 installs in the main Applications folder and is available for all users on the computer. Activation is tied to the drive not the User.

HELP!! How do I create hyperlink in a text field?

I've been going through the message boards and I am not finding my answer. I have created a form utilizing LiveCycle. I have made the form so that it can be fillable via Reader Extended PDF. I need to be able to put a link in a text field that the next user can just click on it, and it will take them to a document in SharePoint for review. I've tried changing the text field to rich text in LiveCycle, but the steps to add the link in the PDF is too lengthly and not friendly. Once I finally get it to put the link in, the end user cannot just click on it. They have to take additional steps. Someone on the boards mentioned something about putting a button next to the field that will convert the text of the link in the previous text field to a link, but I cannot find those instructions or understandable instructions. The management wants it to be where you just click on the link. How do I do this? I am not a techie, so I need instructions in layman's terms.

I'm in the same boat as you, inasmuchas I taught myself LC. I've tried to replicate your issue. I'm trying to understand where the issue actually lies.
First, I created a new document to test. I dragged the text field onto the document and stretched it to accomodate what I was going to type and entered: http://www.google.com/something
This works as intended.
Next I tried a link similar to yours in our own intranet: http://intranet/WebPages/support.aspx
That also worked.
Now, for what you're actually working with: a SharePoint document.
I tried to paste a link to a document that I created on our Sharepoint site. The link failed! I noticed that the end of the link was truncated (something like 7 characters). So, I tried a shorter link. That worked!
What else is happening when they click the link? Are they simply being asked to "check out" the document? Are you getting an error message like "an error has occured while opening the page"?

I know how to validate integer text but I want to validate string.such as no special chars are there,and field shud be not null.and as long as text is not valid focus is restricted to that column only.

Well you really have 2 requirements:
such as no special chars This can be edited as the character is typed. You create a custom editor the uses a text field with a DocumentFilter. Then you can edit the text as it is typed. Read the Swing tutorial on "Text Component Feature" for an example of using a DocumentFilter:

Is there a way to create a text field that shows on all slides?

I'm trying to create a "Revised On" date field that can be shown on every slide. Or, do I just have to copy and paste on all slides?

use the master slides
view > show master slides
click on the master slide that has a tick mark
add a text box to master slide and any other objects that you want on every slide; enter text, then position, size and set colour
click on the normal slide and add other content that is to be seen on that slide only
adding new slides will use the background design

I am not sure that with query designer you will be able to acahieve it. But sure that not a straight forward soltuion.
With report designer, and crystal reports, you can easily achieve it, it seems.

You seem to have some confusion between java and javascript, and when they run.
Java code runs only on the server, and produces an HTML page.
Javascript code runs on the client.
The two can not communicate. Specific to your example you seem to think that the java code will be executed by your onChange event.
This is not the case.
In order to run java code again you have make a request by submitting the form, or clicking on a link.

So when she logs in, and sync's her ipads, they will sync with her stuff and when I do the same under my user account, on the same device, my ipads will sync with my stuff?

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.
