Can you sort an outline alphabetically

Hello Does any one know if you can you sort an outline in pages alphabetically? I could do it using word. I am using one of those templets. Thank you.

Ok This is what you were after.
This assumes that you use a Paragraph style for your header AND THERE IS ONLY ONE HEADER ON EACH PAGE WHICH IS ONLY ONE PARAGRAPH LONG
// Script by Trevor to sort Pages according to alphabetical order of Page Headers
// http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1082984?tstart=0
var doc =  app.documents[0], myHeaders, l;
app.changeGrepPreferences = app.findGrepPreferences = null;
app.findGrepPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = "My Header";
// Change above to the name of header style
myHeaders = doc.findGrep();
for (n=0; n < myHeaders.length-1; n++) $.writeln([myHeaders[n].contents]);
myHeaders.sort (function (a,b) {if (a.contents.toLowerCase() > b.contents.toLowerCase())  return 1 else return -1})
l = myHeaders.length;
while (l--) myHeaders[l].parentTextFrames[0].parentPage.move (LocationOptions.AT_BEGINNING);

  • Can you sort indesign pages alphabetically?

    I have a document with over 200 page and I want to sort the pages alpahetically after the heading on every page.The headings have one paragrah style. The document is singel pages, but there is two text frames on ever page. Many pages have also the same heading, so I hope to sort them in the  same order in which the document is now.
    If you see the images under, I want to sort the pages alphabetically after the "heading" in bold to the right (txt:Best Buys Natural Wines)

  • How can you sort an album that was released in 2007 but has 80s music on

    I have v8 of iTunes, almost completed all my tagging how I want it in iTunes for all my music
    I have a query though, I have a 80s, 90s smart playlist.
    I have recently got an album that was released in 2007, so the year in my library is 2007, however all the music on that album is from the 80s.
    So can you tag with 2 years, ie Album release date and song release (original date) or can you sort the album to show its songs from the 80s.
    Someone must have the same issue, especially from compilation albums
    please help
    cheers

    ahh, was hoping it may have had a "overall" year or album year release date.
    Man that means I gotta tag a lot of my music with the correct year now then, as the compilation albums I got all tagged form web with year released
    Whats the best way to get the year of the songs then please? is there an easy way? Ive got a lot of songs to do now
    cheers

  • Can you sort ibookshelf books by collections and list all of the books in each collection?

    can you sort ibookshelf books by collections and list all of the books in each collection?

    The collection changes a little by the criteria you use to view the books, and you can view them by Title, Author, and Category. So, yes, you can.
    The default view is Book view. On the upper right part of the page, you'll see four white blocks - that's the icon for book view. The icon on the right has three white lines; that's where you find Title, Author, and Category view. You can't create folders in any view.

  • Can you sort tasks in Outlook MAC 2011 by alphabetically by date?

    I can either sort by date or sort alphabetically....i want to be able to sort by date in alphabetical order - any suggestions?

    Hi Sophie,
    It would be much better if you put this query on the Outlook Mac community support:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011
    By the way, sorting tasks in Outlook Mac 2011 is too simple, just click on
    “Tasks” from the bottom of “Navigation Pane” and accomplish sorting according the requirement.

  • How can you sort without adding all the music to iTunes?

    I'm an older person and I don't get it. At first I just had a shuffle and I downloaded specific songs into iTunes that I liked. Then I upgraded. I loaded a whole bunch of cd's into various libraries at various times on an external hard drive. Now, I have a ton of music and would love an easy way to organize it! There are lots of duplicates and lots of songs I just don't like. The trouble is, I haven't figured out how to just see a list of all the songs and sort and delete from the list. I have to open a library and then I get a bunch of file folders of an album or two. Then I have to open the album to see the songs. If I forget what the song sounds like and I click on it to play it, the album goes automatically into iTunes. I don't have enough room on my pc for all that music to go right into iTunes. Do you get my question?? Can you help me?

    When you play a song with iTunes, it automatically gets added to the library, as you noticed.
    If you just want to play the song so you can decide whether to keep or delete it, use another player. You may already have Windows Media Player on your machine. If not you can download Winamp.
    When you are done sorting, add the ones you want into your iTunes library

  • Can you sort layers by file size?

    I'm working on a catalog, not my own, that was set up with all the layout done in Photoshop then placed in ID for copy and a few rasters (barcodes, mostly) to be placed in ID.  Without getting into a conversation about how this is actually supposed to be accomplished, I have run into a problem.
    The .psd is hitting the 2GB limit for file size and can only be saved as a .psb.  .psb can not be placed in ID.
    I would like to reduce the size of the .psd.  Is there a way to figure out where the bloat is?  I know that there are some fat smart objects that could be rasterized, but I don't know which ones are the most chubby.  Can I sort layers by file size or determine the size of a layer without drilling into every smart object?
    Thanks!

    I don't know of a way offhand except to export the layers as files and observe the file sizes.
    Photoshop Help | Saving images   File menu > Scripts > Export Layers to Files.
    Maybe even faster would be to save the PSD as a Layered tiff. Tiffs have an upper limit of 4 GB.
    "Save as" would allow you to keep the PSD as a backup and InDesign should recognize tiffs.

  • I can't get Sort By Name to work on the Bookmarks Menu. How do you sort your folders alphabetically?

    I have my bookmarks sorted in folders. When I create a new folder it goes to the end of the list. I have tried going into Bookmarks/Show All Bookmarks, right click on Bookmarks Menu and Sort By Name but nothing happens. I have to manually move the newly created folder.

    I have no problem sorting an individual folder by name, I can't get the list of folders to sort. As you can see by the attached images, several folders I've added are at the bottom of the folder list and even after I right click on Bookmark Menu/Sort By Name, they don't alphabetize.

  • When in the bookstore, can you sort books by release date

    Often times find an author and ey have multiple books, some might have 10 or 20. I want to read them in order or maybe I just want the latest. It seems they are displayed with no rhyme or reason that I can see. Is there any way to sort them by release date?

    I agree that Apple should improve the year field to be an actual date.
    I am not 100% happy doing this, but when you have multiple albums from a single artist for the same release year, a temporary solution is to chage the album title by adding an outline type letter before album titles for that year, so that they appear in the correct order:
    David Bowie
    1977
    a. Low
    David Bowie
    1977
    b. "Heroes"
    etc
    This could help in the short term until Apple changes that field.
