Cann't connect to apex from sql developer

Platform: win8.
XE and SQL Dev work properly.
Connecting under XE database user "system" (it doesn't matter, the result will be the same).
Trying to connect to "localhost-1521-xe" I get
Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
Trying to connect to "local/bequeath" I get
Status : Failure -Test failed: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin\ocijdbc11.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform

Proble to connect oracle DB from Sql Developer

1st I installed fedora 13 on VirtualBox 4.1 machine and then i installed a oracle 10g(the db run correctly and listener too).
the listener paramater:
LISTENER =(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=10.0.0.8)(PORT=1521))
2nd in my local machine (Fedora 13 too) i installed a sql developer and when i trying connect to oracle on virutal machine i recived a next error
using connection Basic:Status: Failure -Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
the parameter i settings are:
connection name:XXXX
username name:user_created
password:XXXX
Hostname = 10.0.0.8
port = 1521
SID = the_same_of_database
i can make ping well to the virtual machine.
using connection TNS: Status: Failure -Test failed. Required property 'hostname' is not set on the DatabaseProvider.
But i don't know where is the tnsnames file for sql developer.
i don't know if i have to install any JDBC for sqldeveloper.
i can't make tnsping because on my local machine i don't have installed.

Issue when connecting to database from SQL Developer tool

Hi,
I was trying to connect to a remote oracle database 10.2.0.5 (hosted at window 2008 R2 server) from my local SQL Developer tool.
When setting up connection in SQL Developer tool, I was able to connect to the database by selecting TNS (Network Allias).
However, it does not work when I choose Basic type with the same information (HOST, PORT, SID).
What is the difference between TNS and Basic setting option? Please advise and assist.

For the Basic setting:

The error I received when connecting to db based on Basic option is Failure -Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
Below are the entries of SQLnet.ora. Any entry should I add into sqlnet.ora?

HTTP/1.1 302 Found error while trying to connect to Cloud database Trial version from SQL*Developer 4.0.3.16.

I have signed up for Oracle Database Cloud Service Trial and activated the same. I am able to login to Apex applications, SQL Workshop etc but not able to connect from SQL*Developer on my local m/c.
I configured the "Cloud Connection" by giving the provided username, password and URL. When I try to connect, I get the error - "HTTP/1.1 302 Found". Any ideas how to resolve this ?

Failure to connect to 11G XE from Sql Developer

Hi Gurus,
I have been trying for more than a week to make this work. Basically I am trying to install XE database 11.2.0 on my windows 7 64 bit computer.
I have had problems with the getting the listener up , finally managed to get it up by deleting the Oracle_home and reinstalling 11g XE.
Changed the listener.ora file to include the sid XE - restarted th listener so now its working.
-- I am able to start the instance from command prompt as
SQL> conn / as sysdba

SQL> startup

Thanks for your input. I actually did a complete de-install and re-install.
The two things I did differently this time was
1. Delete any ORACLE_HOME or ORACLE_SID variables that were existing and just to make sure check from cmd> set ORACLE_HOME - should return not defined.
(This I found at a different forum)
2. Run the setup (as administrator) this time.
And you guessed it.. It worked. I was able to login to the database. Also could go to the database home page.

Could not connect to a DATABASE with localhost as Hostname from SQL develop

I am not able to connect to any Database from SQL Developer by providing "localhost" as Hostname. I could able to connect by providing the IP(192.168.1.50) of the system.
The problem here is If I am out of internet, My system does not have IP, So I am not able to connect to DB
But I need to submit a project wheere I will not have any internet. Could you please let me know how to connect to DB using localhost

Oracle always uses DNS.
DNS consults the local host file.
Try in a command box
ping localhost
This should work.
If this doesn't work you need to edit
%WINDOWS%\'systems\drivers\etc\hosts
The first line needs to read
127.0.0.1 localhost

Able to connect from SQL-Assistant BUT unable to connect from Sql Developer

Hello,
I have been troubling with this issue for the last two weeks...tried so much, but could not able to resolve....
sqlplus username/password@IPAddress:port/ServiceName
I am able to connect to DATABASE from SQLAssistant only when I provide string like ABOVE........If I dont mention the SERVICE, m unable to connect to DB...
Now the biggest issue is with SQL Developer.....m not at all able to connect to DB using SQL Developer....I tried all options...but no use...

What have you tried, and what error messages are you getting?
When you create a connection in SQL Developer, you should specify IPAddress,port,ServiceName as in your sqlplus connect string.

Connect from SQL Developer to several SQL Server instances

Our SQL Server has more than one instance, but I see only one instance of them trying to connect from SQL Developer 1.2 to SQL Server. How I should define the connection information? Usually we connect to SQL Server by <hostname>/<instancename> and then the database name as CatalogName (Initial Catalog). In the Oracle world you can give only the hostname, a port number and the database name. How I can convince the SQL Developer to choose one of our SQL Server instances?

We have not got this configuration in house, two people have suggested workarounds but we are unable to test them for now. The last person was unable to get these workarounds working, and we have not confirmed them in house.
Can you get the instances connected through two different ports?
It would be great if you could confirm either workaround.

I had same problem as you and user579801. I managed to resolve it by doing the following.
1. Locate the file called IDEConnections.xml in the folder where you have installed SQL Developer (eg. c:\sql developer\sqldeveloper\system\oracle.jdeveloper.db.connection.11.1.1.0.11.42.62).
2. Create the following entries under <connections> tag.

This took some figuring out but I cracked it in the end....
SQLServer tab:
Hostname: <servername>
Port: <portnumber>/<databasename>;instance=<instancename>
so for me the Port field looks like this: 1433/Gaffa;instance=SQL01
That should now connect to a named instance SQL Server.

APEX or SQL Developer?

Hello,
This is my first time posting here, I hope I have put it in the right section.
I was told that in order to have SPARQL with Oracle, I should use either APEX or SQL Developer, and not to install Oracle Enterprise. (I have never worked with it, and am a bit lost).
Is it possible to write SPARQL queries in this manner? Which is recommended for a beginner that only knows basics of SQL? Which has a more user-friendly interface?

APEX - Oracle Application Express is a no-cost option of the Oracle database.
SQL Developer is a tool that connects to the database to execute queries and PLSQL code
I do not know how APEX or SQL Developer would work with SPARQL.
One way to work with SPARQL with Oracle is using the Jena Adaptor. This is a set of tasks you would need to perform:
1. Install Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
2. Configure the database to use Semantic Technologies
3. Install JDK
4. Install Jena
5. Install Jena Adaptor
6. Review Jena Adaptor Demos that include SPARQL examples

This is my scratch pad that I used when doing these tasks in case it helps:
1. Install 11.2.0.2.0
and
2. Create database at time of installation.
3. Create tablespace for Semantics:
create tablespace RDF_TABLESPACE
datafile '/.../rdf01.dbf' size 2000M
autoextend on next 2000M maxsize 16000M;
4. Setup Semantic Technologies:
sqlplus / as sysdba
@?/md/admin/catsem
exec sem_apis.create_sem_network('RDF_TABLESPACE');
5. Place files in working directory:
JDK: jdk-6u22-linux-x64.bin
Jena: jena-2.6.3.zip
Jena Adaptor ./JenaAdaptor/jena_adaptor_for_release11.2.zip
6. Unzip files:
unzip jena-2.6.3.zip
cd JenaAdaptor
unzip jena_adaptor_for_release11.2.zip
7. Install JDK:
chmod u+x jdk-6u22-linux-x64.bin
./jdk-6u22-linux-x64.bin
answer: yes
8. You should have in your working directory:
Wdir> ls -l

b. Copy sdordf.jar into <Jena_DIR>/lib (Linux) or <Jena_DIR>\lib (Windows). (sdordf.jar is in
$ORACLE_HOME/md/jlib or %ORACLE_HOME%\md\jlib.)

c. Copy sdordfclient.jar. It is in Work_dir/JenaAdpator/jar

I am not able to connect to database in sql developer.how to do?

I downloaded sqldeveloper 1.5.4.59.40. iam not able to establish connection to database. Can anyone tell me ?

Have you created a database (or have one you connect to)?
Have you created the Net Service connections for SQL Developer to use?
Does SQL Developer have access to this Net Serviice name?
Have you created the connections from SQL Developer?
Can you post an error message?

Administration of APEX in SQL Developer with Proxy Authentication impossibl

Hello!
We are using latest version of SQL Developer to administer APEX. We are connecting to the database with proxy authentication. The syntax is:
personal_user[apex_ws_owner]
e.g.: mdecker[apex_demo]
When trying to deploy APEX application I go to "Database Object" -> Application Express -> Application1 [100] -> right mouse click: "Deploy Application". Then I select the appropriate database identifier and next, I am presented with a screen showing import options. In second line, it says: "Parsing Schema: MDECKER".
This is wrong: it has to be Parsing Schema: APEX_DEMO. It seems that managing APEX with SQL Developer does not support Proxy Authentication.
Could you please confirm?
Is there a way to formally ask for this enhancement?

Update:
I found out that if I check the flag "Proxy Authentication" in the connect details and provide both passwords, the deploy application parsing schema is set to the correct APEX_DEMO account. However, we are using Proxy Authentication in order to avoid having to know the application password.

You do need to have updated to Oracle APEX 3.0.1.

How export datas with special characters from SQL Developer?

I'm doing an import of datas of a table, but this table have special characteres in specific accents (á,é,í,ó,ú), my source table have for example "QRCN Querétaro, Candiles" but when I done an export from opcion Tool --> Export DLL (and Datas) from SQL Developer generate the next script
Insert into tablexxx(CADENA,NUMERO_FARMACIA,SUCURSAL_REFERENCIA) values ('C002','20280','QRCN Quer?ro, Candiles');
How can I do for export my datas and generate the script correct?

2. I Select name file, connection (this is a remote DB), objects to export in this case I select 'Tables and data' and table name to export
3. Run the procedure and generate the script following:

Create trigger not audited when run from sql developer Version 3.2.20.09

Creating or editing a trigger is not being stored in the audit table when run from sql developer.
Here is a sample script to show the issue:
Grant Connect,create table,create trigger To testuser Identified By testuser;
create table testuser.testtab(t1 number);
Select Count(*) From Dba_Audit_Trail Where Owner='TESTUSER';
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER testuser.testtab_bi_trg BEFORE
Insert
ON testuser.testtab FOR EACH ROW
begin
null;
end;
Select Count(*) From Dba_Audit_Trail Where Owner='TESTUSER';
drop user testuser cascade;
If I run the script from sql developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does not get audited.
If I run the script from sql plus or All Arround Automations PL/SQL Developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does get audited.
If I edit the trigger from sql developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does not get audited.
If I edit the trigger from All Arround Automations PL/SQL Developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does get audited.

Yes - and it works just fine once you ENABLE AUDITING. Your scripIt does NOT include the statements or code used to ENABLE auditing and, specifically, enable auditing for triggers.
Auditing doesn't just 'happen'; you have to enable it and you have to specify any non-default auditing that you want to perform.
Have you read any of the extensive documentation about auditing to learn how to use it?
