Cannot download a .jnlp file

I'm encountering an error while downloading a .jnlp file. Everytime I try to download a .jnlp file it just shows me the source code for the jnlp.

I had the same problem.
Try clearing your browser cache.
If you accessed the jnlp file in your browser before you set up the application helper (application/x-java-jnlp-file .jnlp), the browser would have cached the page and displayed it as text.
If that doesn't fix it, make sure you have set up the web server to handle the jnlp mime type. From the Web Start developer docs:

application/x-java-jnlp-file JNLP

Then make sure you have set up your browser to launch <JRE_HOME>/javaws/javaws when it encounters the jnlp mime type. In Netscape, this is done using "Application Helpers".

I don't think that could work that way... But it is possible to reference others JNLP files inside a JNLP file.
Example in my own jnlp file:

The Canon 5D Mk 111 was supported from LR 4.1, see the link below. Just update LR to the latest version. See link below

That's an odd one. The site is not much help either. There is a list of plugins and/or viewers that they claim are used for documents on the site: http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=plugIns (the link is at the bottom right corner of the main page, "Download plug-ins").

Foxit Reader (substitute for Adobe Reader/Acrobat): No go
Open Office Calc (substitute for MS Excel): had to parse into 2 columns of descriptive text and numbers
PowerPoint Viewer 2007: no go

The file will not open in Firefox but will open the Word application and display the download there; save it from Word if you want to keep the file.
When the screen opens to Open or Save file, choose Browse, browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office1# and click on winword.exe ; if you want it to handle all .alm files in Word in the future, check the box "Do this automatically for files like this from now on".

What is N-OS?
For the camera raw problem, every new camera has its own raw format and ACR must be updated to include it. That hasn't happened yet for the D5500, so you'll just have to use the Nikon software till Adobe gets the info and releases an updated version of ACR. It's not unusual to be in your situation if you buy a camera model that's only been out a month. You just have to wait a bit.

Since the installation of Firefox 8, I cannot download a specific file type from email. I use this for work and MUST be able to open these files with a specific software. When FF opens the file, it changes the extension and it will not open. Help!!!

I use the Microsoft Outlook Web App for work email. I receive files with a .RXML extension. This has always worked just fine until the latest version of Firefox came out (I was using FF 7 until this weekend). Now FF changes the extension to .ashx when I open the file and I cannot download it into my software. If I go to the company internet site and download directly from there, it does the same thing. But I can open these files just fine from IE. I REALLY don't want to have to go back to IE.

TS5376 itunes 11.1.4 for Windows Vista - I've uninstalled prior version and associated applications, but get message"cannot download" the exe file. Why?

Followed instructions to uninstall iTunes and related components and files, but still get error that the "exe" file cannot be downloaded. Any suggestions on what to do next? This all started because I wanted to sync my iphone to the computer.

I was able to successfully download iTunes after repeated attempts to remove Apple Mobile Device Support finally worked. Had to repair, re-install, then uninstall it. Found useful tips on how to do that in topic "Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows Updates" by turingtest2. After that, my browsers (IE or Firefox) would only partially download the iTunes install file. So paused virus scanner and Windows Defender. and uninstalled iCloud. Eventually IE downloaded the "exe" file and I was able to run it (albeit with several false starts).
Now trying to reinstall iCloud.

On many sites I cannot open or download a pdf file. A new window opens, but it is blank. I have no trouble downloading from the same site using Safari.

Acrobat passwords are case-sensitive, so please be sure that you're entering it exactly as it was provided. If you are, you may have been given the wrong password. Your best bet would to be to go back to the person who supplied the file and ask them to verify the password.

IE9 and IE10 cannot download/open any files

We are seeing this issue pretty consistently across the board with IE9 and IE10, and everything we have researched has not worked. We notice that if we are logged in as administrator on a computer (both PC's running Windows 7 and zero-client
terminals), we do not experience the issue.   When we log back in as the user, we cannot open, save, or save as any downloads.
We have deleted all appropriate registry entries, removed and reinstalled IE9 and IE10 on different computers, removed any group policy that may apply to our internet settings for testing, and removed our av program for testing only.
Across the net we see multiple questions on this issue, but no clear-cut answer. Has anyone come up with a standard answer for this?  Very frustrating...we didn't experience this on the same systems, same operating system, when we were on
IE8.

Microsoft and their experts have done a terrible job assisting valued users with resolving this debilitating issue. Their support is atrocious!
After battling this issue for many days and really frustrating myself and my client, I stumbled across the answer. Create a new user account. Yes, that is it. A new (administrative) user account works perfectly. Once you create the new
user, copy the Desktop, pictures, videos and music files... I wouldn't try an easy transfer or anything like that due to the likelihood of copying the error with it.

look in
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
and remove any with 'pdf' in the name, then restart safari.
failing that - check in the same folder within your user 'home' Library
~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
in either case, you can triple-click the names above to select, then ctrl-click & choose Services - Open which should open a new Finder window showing the folder
