Cannot Download Applications from Internet

I am having problems downloading applications via Safari. First, it was Skype...From the download page (where it says download will begin shortly), it looks like it is loading for about 1/3rd of the loading bar, then nothing. The link does not do anything either.
Then, (once I decided it was a Safari issue), I attempted to download Mozilla...Nothing.
I've checked firewalls and pop-ups settings and they all agree with letting me download.
What is holding me back?
Appreciate the help all ~

Doublechecking. Are you using Safari for Mac or Safari for Windows?
(You've posted in the Safari for Windows forum, but your system info says Mac.)

  • Why can't I download applications from Internet on my iPad mini?

Hi, I have been trying to download applications from the internet on my iPad mini but i can't download them through safari or other 3rd Party browsers. I tried downloading them through many download managers but they can't download the applications either. I tried syncing my iPad with the computer through iTunes and when I opened the app on my iPad, it said "file format not supported" even though iPad mini supports it.Please reply.

The only place to get apps or other programs for your iPad is the app store - either directly on your iPad via the App Store app or on your computer's iTunes and then syncing them. PC and Mac programs (and android apps) are not compatible with the iPad, they are different operating systems.
What were you trying to sync to the iPad via your computer's iTunes ? If it's an app that you downloaded from the iTune app store and it's compatible with iPads (some apps only work on iPhones) then you should be able to sync it - if it's not syncing then have you tried deleting the app from your computer's iTunes and re-downloading it from the store ?

  • Downloaded application from internet are not resuming aft OS restart.

I am downloaded one antivirus from internet.
It started downloading the latest defination and while downloading I restared the OS.... So I believe it should also resume as it is an OS feature ?right
My 2nd que is if it is not resuming then this should be a bug of OS or that application.

First of all, I do not think it is healthy for your machine in any way to start a process like you are describing and then just shut the machine off. After doing some tests, your machine should require you to close/stop the processes/applications after selecting to shutdown/restart your machine. Once you turn the machine back on it reopens the application/process that was opened prior to shutting down/restarting. However, I don't think it will resume with the process where you left off, but then again I really didn't test that part out.
For all intended purposes, Apple says that 'Resume' is basically a feature that allows you to not lose what you are currently doing within an App. in regards to having it open and then having to restart your machine because a software update requires you to.

  • Downloading applications from internet

I'm a very new mac user and have questions about downloading apps from the internet. Not used to all the terminology and have been reading various forum threads but am still confused!
I tried to download Skype, which I think worked, but, as a pc user, I know I'm not getting what I'm supposed to do next. Plus I think I downloaded it twice by accident.
Can someone give a step-by-step doing a download, what appears, what gets dragged to the Application Folder (in the Mac Dard drive?) and what am I supposed to move to the trash?
I have the skype.dmg in my download stack on the dock. Do I delete that?
Also, there is a Skype hard-disk-looking icon that shows up. Does that go in the trash?
    Thank you!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions:
A typical DL and install is as follows:
You download a zip file or an image (.dmg)
By default it goes into your download folder. If your Downloads dock folder is set to "Stack" you will see the last item as the icon. Totally normal. Do not delete it.
You will also see the download Safari window, but that's not important. You can click Clear on that and dismiss it. Unimportant.
In your real Downloads folder in Finder you will see the dmg or zip downloaded file.
If it's a zip, double click it and it will usually expand into a dmg.
Double click the dmg and then you will see a window pop up with the actual contents of the dmg.
At that point there are several possibilities: Sometimes a good programmer will not only show you the app, but also the Applications folder in the window. You just drag the app into the folder.
You can also drag the app yourself into the applications folder. Sometimes you will be asked for a password, sometimes not. That's unimportant now.
What I usually do is not put the app into the Applications folder, but first make a new folder in Applications with the app's name. I thing drag the app and any documentation into that folder. It's less clutter and then if you choose, you can also drag the zip or dmg into that folder as well.
Once that is done, you can eject the little disk-like icon on the desktop, since you no longer need it.
After that, simply double-click the new app and run it. Usually, the first time, Leopard warns you that you are opening something you downloaded from the internet. It only happens once.
When you use Finder to migrate to the download and double click it

  • Cannot Download files from internet on my main account

I have had my macbook for about 3 months, and recently i havent been able to download files from the internet on my main account...i have had to switch between accounts. Is there anyway to fix this? Or to transfer all my files from one account to another? any help would be greatly appreciated
    Justin

    That sounds odd...
Any error messages? What happens when you try to download an item? Have you tried downloading to a specific, non-desktop, folder?

  • Win 7,Acrobat pro 9, Repaired, operational but cannot download forms from internet

Does anyone know how to fix above problem?  Acrobat Pro 9 will work with all forms on hard drive or emaile in PDF format.  But on internet when trying to download.  Acrobat window opens with blank black screen and no File listed or available  Ran repair numerous times.  Also cannot install Adobe reader to assist in acquisition of PDF formated files from any internet source.  Why me???

There is no reason to download Reader, AA9 should be able to do the job, unless someone put something very specific to AA X in their form (bad form in most cases). You have have an issue with a plugin to your browser, not Acrobat. Sometimes, the plugin is separate as I understand it. You should still be able to right click on the form and select to save it or open it with a specific application rather than in a browser window.

  • HT4059 my iPad mini cannot download books from iTunes - help

my iPad mini cannot download books from iTunes - help

    Hi, debikay45.
Test to see if you can download a free application from the App Store.  If this was successful, test downloading the book again.  Try closing all open applications and power cycling the device, test the results.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection.  If these results were unsuccessful, see the steps in the article below that refer to iOS.
Isolate the issue: (Mac OS X, Windows, iOS)
Make sure the issue is with the iTunes Store only. (You need an Internet connection to access the iTunes Store).Open a secure website to test if you are online as is necessary for the iTunes Store. This also tests if the main ports 80 and 443 are accessible. If the website works but the iTunes Store does not, it is most likely a firewall blocking the iTunes software or servers. If this is the case, follow the steps in the "Blocked by software firewall" section below.
Test using another device. If possible, another device, ideally on a different network, would help troubleshooting any iTunes Store issues most efficiently. If another device on another network has issues, the iTunes Store may be undergoing maintenance, and will be available soon.
    Test using another network.
Connect your computer or device to another network and testing helps determine the next step. This is also helpful if multiple devices are affected.
If your device can connect to Wi-Fi and a cellular network, larger downloads may not be possible over the cellular network.
If the issue disappears while connected to another network, you may need to work with your support options to open access to:
    itunes.apple.com
    ax.itunes.apple.com
    ax.init.itunes.apple.com
    albert.apple.com
    gs.apple.com
    ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net
    mzstatic.com
Note: iTunes may use the fully qualified version of these addresses for additional security.
iTunes uses well known ports and these ports may need to be opened for iTunes: 80, 443, 3689, 5297, 5298, 5353, 8000-8999, and 42000-42999.
It is critical that your date, time, and time zone be correct:Windows:
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
Click "Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options" and then click Date and Time.
Click the Date & Time tab.
Make sure that the date and time settings are configured to use the current date and time and then click OK.
    Mac OS X:
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
In System Preferences, click Date & Time.
Enable the option to "Set date and time automatically" if it is not.
Click the Time Zone tab and adjust the time zone to match your current location.
    iOS:
From the home screen, tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
If the option exists, turn off Set Automatically.
Verify the time zone and time (in the status bar) are correct for where you are currently.
If not, adjust the incorrect setting accordingly.
If everything was correct and the option exists, turn on Set Automatically.
Remove any restrictions that may be causing the issue:
    Windows:
It is recommended you use iTunes from an administrator account.
Refer to the Help documentation from Microsoft, contact your IT department, or visitsupport.microsoft.com for more information.
You can also check using iTunes Diagnostics if you are recognized as an administrator by iTunes.
    Mac OS X:
It is recommended you use iTunes from an administrator account. To become an administrator account, from the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
    In System Preferences, click Accounts.
You may need to unlock the lock in the bottom-left corner of the window to make changes. If you can unlock the lock, you are already an admin user.
Under the account you are using, it may say "Standard." Enable the option to "Allow user to administer this computer" to make the user an admin account user.
From the Apple () menu, choose Log Out.
Log back in and return to using iTunes. Test to see if the issue is resolved.
iOS: Restrictions can limit your ability to purchase some content. Check restrictions via Settings> General > Restrictions if you're unsure about those settings.
After isolating the issue to iTunes by following the above steps:
If the issue still occurs and iTunes displays an alert message with a specific code, please see the section below titled "Specific Conditions and Alert Messages" for additional troubleshooting steps.
If the issue is still not resolved and there is no specific code or alert message, you can visit the iTunes Store Discussion Board to try to find additional information for help resolving your issue:
You can also contact AppleCare to discuss your support options. Depending on your product’s coverage status, you may need to pay for support.
    iTunes Store Discussion Board (Mac)
    iTunes Store Discussion Board (Windows)
New routers or a new Internet Service Provider (ISP) may limit your ability to connect to iTunes Store. Let your router manufacturer or your ISP know about the ports and servers in this article and confirm that they are compatible.

    Steven,
Could you also make sure that the problem is not on the client side.
Is this a fresh installtion on the client machine? Or was there already an previous version of BPC on this machine?
If this is not a fresh install, you can try to uninstall the software and then deleting all the files in the folder
"program files\BPC". I've seen that sometimes not all the files are automatically deleted.
Then installing the Bpc client agian...

  • I changed my Apple ID and now I cannot download apps from app store

I changed my Apple ID and now I cannot download apps from app store, even with ios 6. A message "This app is incompatible with this iphone" appeared. What should I do?

    Hi there joannelim5288!
I have found an article that can help you to troubleshoot this issue with your iPhone. The article can be found here:
iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1702
Specifically, the first three steps listed in the article, and outlined here below, might be the most helpful to you:
    1. Update your device software
Update your device to the latest version of iOS.
    2. Check for app updates
Ensure that your apps are up to date:
Open the App Store and tap Updates. If updates are available, tap Update All.
When prompted, enter your iTunes Store account information. App Store will then download and install the application updates.
Note: Some applications may require a Wi-Fi connection to update.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If none of your user-installed apps will launch, there could be an issue with Apple ID authorization. Download and install a free (or paid) app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information. You could also remove an app from your iOS device and download it again from the App Store or sync the app from your computer.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden
