I had a similar issue. I had to hard reset the Express, and also to start off with, I had an ethernet cable that was in the same switch as the Extreme, until I got everything going. And yes I used the Airport Admin. Also see what firmware/admin versions you are using.

  • Using Chromebox, cannot get P1105w to connect to network

    I have a dlink 850L router. I am using Chromebox, so no PC for help in connecting printers,  I have a P1102w printer, but I cannot get it to connect with the network. Anyone have experieence with this?  The firmware is up to date.

    Hi,
    Use WPS to connect the printer to your router:
    Press the WPS button on your wireless router, this is the second one of your router, right below the USB port.
    On the printer control panel, press the Wireless button (). The wireless light starts to blink.
    Wait up to two minutes while the printer establishes a network connection with the wireless router
    Once the printer is connected to your wireless router, follow these steps to enable the HP ePrint feautre:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03128518/
    Finally, add the HP ePrint address as a Google Cloud Print to your Google account, that should allow printing from your Chromebox:

  • Cannot get OSX to remember default network

    I switched from TimeWarner Roadrunner service to ATT Uverse last week. Since the change, I cannot get OSX on my 2.2ghz macbook pro to stop defaulting to my old network (that no longer exists).
    I have gone into network preferences, hit apply, and locked changes. Still, every time I reboot, I am forced to switch to the new network.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Preston

    When your in Network Preferences, try removing your old network then adding the new one.

  • Cannot get macs to connect to network

    I have an ongoing issue with wireless connection. Our household has 4 macs: one desktop intel core duo running 10.4.9 3 new macbooks running 10.5. I had a netgear rangemax that worked fine until macbooks arrived and then we were no longer able to send email (connection to smtp server timed out) or were able to use the wireless with more than one computer attempting same. We also would be automatically connected to any other unprotected available network but not our own (which was actual beneficial because we could not access through our own)I found changing router mtu to 1428 worked only when I was connected to our network but because we were always automatically connected elsewhere it was a hassle to have to keep re establishing connection .I corresponded with Netgear tech and forums for 2 months...changed mtu, cycled modem, router, etc...finally, I just purchased an Airport Extreme and cannot connect at all through our network, it will only connect to other networks. I have Any help will be greatly appreciated...I do not know what else to do. I have checked settings. I am told I am connected to my network, light is green on Airport base station , it shows up in all settings. I connect only when plugged directly into base station via cable. Thank you

    *meant to write that connection only works when I am plugged into cable modem NOT airport base station.Using ethernet cable fromm base station also does not work

  • Cannot get mac and PC to network

    Hi,
    I just can't seem to get my mac and pc to network!
    - I have activated SMB via file sharing on my iMac
    - I have created a folder on my PC that I want to share on my network
    - I can see the PC on the source list in finder on my iMac
    However,
    - I cannot connect to the PC via the finder or via Go>Connect Server. When I try to do this I get the following error message: "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "smb://xxx.xxx.x.xxx" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)"
    - I cannot see the iMac on my PC.
    I have searched the forum high and low but I am yet to find a solution that works for me.
    Anyone else in the same situation..?
    Any ideas on how to deal with this would greatly appreciated.

    I was going to start a new topic, but since this is here, I will add to it.
    I have a home network with 2 Macs that were recently upgraded to leopard (I like to wait), a PC running Windows 2000, a PC running Windows XP, and 2 PC's running Vista. With Tiger, I had no problems whatsoever in finding the various machines and logging into them. It was always immediate and seamless.
    After upgrading the 2 Macs to leopard 2 weeks ago, the network is intermittent. No changes were made anywhere, other than the upgrade. Network settings on the Macs were verified and are set properly. When I boot up either machine, and open Finder to get on any of the PC's, all that shows up is the other Mac. None of the PC's are visible at first. But over the next 3 to 4 hours, the PC's on the network slowly appear.
    To me, this is a serious bug that must be addressed by Apple. I see many other people having the same problem, and for people that work on Macs and PC's together, there is a huge impact on productivity due to this network delay.
    Has anyone found a fix or a way around this problem? I ask here as Apple is notorious for lack of support and has never responded to a single support query of mine.
    Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Cannot get D110 to connect to network.

    Hello.
    I bought a D110 a few weeks ago and im having problems with it. At first it worked fine, it linked up with my wireless router ok. Then the problem grew worse and worse now it wont connect at all. I removed the driver and went to reinstall it and now it wont even install the set up since it cannot connect to my network.
    I have a WRT110 Linksys router and it runs on XP.
    http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/linksys-wrt110-rangeplus-wireless/4507-3319_7-32936970.html?tag=spec...
    I have tried everything i can think of to get it to link, even reinstalling the router driver and resetting the password.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    OK, let's get into the router settings just to check it out.  Another idea I had is perhaps you have the wrong wireless password.
    Using a web browser, type the router's IP address (192.168.1.1).  The login is left blank and the password is 'admin'.
    Go to the wireless tab.  You should be on the Basic Wireless Settings tab.  Click the manual button (if it exists on your version). There you will see the wireless settings, including the channel and if SSID is being broadcast.  If you want to change these, make the change then click the Save Settings button before leaving that page.
    Now, click on the Wireless Security page and check your password - did you have it right?

  • EJB3.0 Entity cannot get attributes of extended class

    Hi ,
    Have a very simple issue ..quite baisc one. So hopefully I"ll get an answer !
    Am using EJB3.0 with WL10.3. Like any other application , every entity has id and version column. So I decided to put these fields in EntityBase.java
    Other Entities will extend this entity .
    For EG : Entity Organisation extends EntityBase. Organisation will have only other setter/getter for attributes. Setter/Getter for id/version will be in EntityBase. Application is deployed sucessfully and I dont get any exception, But when I try to getOrganisation Entity , id and version is null. Looks like WL is not able set id and version in EntityBase.
    Am I missing something here ? How can we make an Entity extends any other class and at the same time tell the container to set/get inhertied values ? Code for EntityBase and Organisation goes something like below
    public class EntityBase implements Serializable{
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
         // ---- Entity id
         @Id
         @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.SEQUENCE ,generator="ID_SEQ")
         @SequenceGenerator(name="ID_SEQ" ,sequenceName="OBJECT_ID_SEQ" )
         @Column(name="ID")
         private int id ;
         public int getId() {
              return this.id;
         // ---- Entity version
         @Version
         private int version ;
         public int getVersion() { return this.version; }
    Organisation.java is
    @Entity
    @Table(name="TYPED_T")
    @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.TABLE_PER_CLASS)
    public class Organisation extends EntityBase{
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
    ..setter/getter for other attributes
    Thanks in advance

    Hi, if you want your entity to inherit from a superclass that provides persistent entity state and mapping information, please use @MappedSuperclass.
    You can find the definition and example from EJB3.0 Spec, chapter 2.1.9.2.
    E.g.
    @MappedSuperclass
    public class Employee {
    @Id protected Integer empId;
    @Version protected Integer version;
    @ManyToOne @JoinColumn(name="ADDR")
    protected Address address;
    public Integer getEmpId() { ... }
    public void setEmpId(Integer id) { ... }
    public Address getAddress() { ... }
    public void setAddress(Address addr) { ... }
    // Default table is FTEMPLOYEE table
    @Entity
    public class FTEmployee extends Employee {
    // Inherited empId field mapped to FTEMPLOYEE.EMPID
    // Inherited version field mapped to FTEMPLOYEE.VERSION
    // Inherited address field mapped to FTEMPLOYEE.ADDR fk
    // Defaults to FTEMPLOYEE.SALARY
    protected Integer salary;
    public FTEmployee() {}
    public Integer getSalary() { ... }
    public void setSalary(Integer salary) { ... }
    Thanks,
    Amy

  • Airport express just stopped extending the network

    I have an airport express that I have been using for 3 years to extend the network in my house.
    All of a sudden it started flashing amber. I've tried soft resets, hard resets, factory resets, and I can't get it to extend the network anymore.
    I have 3 other expresses in the house that still extend the network, but this one won't.
    Everytime I go run airport utility, it sees the express, and will actually allow me to JOIN the network (I get a solid green light, everything is good) but everytime I ask it to EXTEND the network, it gives me an error message and says it can't do it.
    It's an old extreme, that I bought refurbished, so I might be able to accept it's old and needs to be replaced, but then why can I join the network, but not EXTEND the network?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Apple's instructions to "extend a wireless network" are on the main forum page and also here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259
    Although the example pictures an AirPort Extreme as the "extending" device, the setup for an AirPort Express would be exactly the same.

    I'm confused, did you mean to say Extreme here instead?

  • Can I use my Time Capsule to extend a current network? If so, How?

    Can I use my Time Capsule to extend a current network? If so, How?

    I want to use it wirelessly to extend the range of the network. I currently have an xfinity router as the main.
    You may not have understood what I was trying to say above.
    If you want the Time Capsule to extend wirelessly, then you must have an Apple router as your "main" router.
    You have an xfinity router. You cannot use the Time Capsule to extend the range of an xfinity router wirelessly.

  • Cannot extend my network using AirPort Express

    I just purchased a Time Capsule (2TB) and replaced my Airport Express WiFi.  My intention was to expand my network, using the AirPort Express to expand the Time Capsule signal.  I have tried several times and cannot get it to work.
    Using AirPort Utility, I set up the Time Capsule successfully, making certain the "Allow the network to be expanded" box was checked off.
    After resetting my AE, I plugged it in, it was detected by AirPort Utility, and I set the AE to expand the network, using the same network name, security, and password.  When I save the settings and update, the AirPort Uitility returns an error stating that the AE unit could not be located.  AE unit is flashing amber (slowly).
    What DID work was connecting the AE to the Time Capsule with an ethernet cable, but this is not ideal, since I want to locate the AE away from the TC and wish to do it wirelessly.
    Can someone offer some helpful suggestions that will work?
    (Running MacBook Pro w/ OS X 10.7.2 and AirPort Utility 5.5.3.)

    I would suggest the following:
    Please move the AirPort Express (AX) to the same room as the Time Capsule and perform a Factory Default Reset as follows:
    Pull the AX from power
    Wait a few minutes
    Hold in the reset button and continue to hold it in for an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the AX back in to power
    Release the reset button after the hold period, and allow 40-45 seconds for the AX to display a slow, blinking amber light
    Temporarily, connect a spare Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to your AX
    Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
    Click the Base Station tab below the row of icons to name your AX, assign a device password and adjust Time Zone settings
    Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab and adjust your settings as follows:
    Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
    Wireless Nework Name = Same name as your Time Capsule wireless network
    Enter a check mark next to Allow wirelss clients
    Wireless Security = Same setting as your Time Capsule wireless network. You may need to refer to the Time Capsule settings if you are not sure what setting to use
    Wireless Password = Same password as the Time Capsule wireless network
    Confirm Password
    Click Update to save your settings
    Close AirPort Utility and disconnect the Ethernet cable as soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored successfully on the AX
    Wait 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart and display a green light
    You can now locate the AX where it is needed, assuming that it can receive a good wireless signal at its new location
    Post back on your results

    I am extending my airport extreme by adding an airport express. I had no problem setting it up and got green lights but now I cannot get on either because it says it is a self assigned IP?

    i am extending my airport extreme by adding an airport express.
    Does this mean that you are connecting the AirPort Express to the AirPort Extreme using a wired Ethernet connection....or....are you connecting the AirPort Express to the AirPort Extreme wirelessly?
    but now I cannot get on either because it is a self assigned IP?
    I suggest that you first concentrate on getting the AirPort Extreme working correctly. Power off the modem and both the Extreme and Express, wait a few minutes, then power up the modem and let it run a few minutes. Then, power up the AirPort Extreme and check the network for proper operation. Leave the AirPort Express off for now. Report on your results.

  • Help?  I keep getting "Unexpected Error" everytime I try to use my new Airport Express to extend my network from my 500GB Time Capsule.

    I am trying to extend my network from my 500GB Time Capsule using the new Airport Express I just bought, but no matter what I try I keep getting "Unexpected Error.  Try again".  The Express is still flashing Amber.  I cannot get it to turn green.  What am I doing wrong here?  Please help me.

    Locate the AirPort Express in the same room as the Time Capsule for the setup.
    Power off and restart the Time Capsule
    Shut down and restart the Mac. Turn on the wireless on the Mac and temporarily disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Mac to the AirPort Express. In other words, you want to set up the AirPort Express using wireless, since that is the way that it will be used.
    Hold in the reset button on the AirPort Express for 9-10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Express to restart.
    Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen and wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click directly on AirPort Express.
    AirPort Setup will open up and take a minute to analyze the network, then announce that the Express will be configured to extend the Time Capsule network.
    Enter a device name that you want to use and click Next
    Wait a minute while AirPort Setup configures everything, and hopefully announces a message of Setup Complete. Click Done.
    Now move the AirPort Express to a location that is about half way between the Time Capsule and the area that needs more wireless coverage. Avoid obstructions in the signal path between the Time Capsule and AirPort Express as much as possible.
    Walls, ceilings, mirrors, heavy furniture, etc. just kill the wireless signal quality. Keep any cordless phones as far away from either router as possible.
    It would be much better if you could plan to connect the Time Capsule and AirPort Express using an Ethernet cable, as best case.....you will be losing about half of the network speed trying to use wireless to extend.

  • HT4259 I have an 802.11n base and extender and still cannot get a good signal 80-90 ft away . Why?

    I have an 802.11n base and extender and still cannot get a good signal 80-90 ft away . Why?

    Hardwire is always recommended because there is virtually no signal loss in a wire....at least up to 300 feet or so.
    Another advantage of using Ethernet cable...if you can...is that you can locate the AirPort Express where it is most needed.
    If it extends using wireless only, it pretty much needs to be located about half the distance from the main router and the general area that needs more coverage.
    I like to use WiFi Explorer since it displays SNR (Signal to Noise) readings, which are the best way to evaluate signal quality.
    Mac App Store - WiFi Explorer
    If the signal is varying constantly, something is causing it to do so....assuming that the AirPorts are functioning correctly.
    Cordless phones are a huge problem for wireless networks.  You want to try to figure out if the phones are causing a problem as a first troubleshooting step.
    That is why I suggested that you turn off the phones for an hour or two and watch the network to see how it behaves.  If the signal stops fluctuating....that is a good clue that the phones are interfering with the wireless signal.
