Cannot play any videos

I cannot play any videos using firefox. This is a new problem that did not exist last month. Installed latest firefox upgrades, no help. Uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled, did not help. Installed latest flash, did not help. Been dealing with the problem at least last week.

My iPod mini, 4gb is hard to get serviced obviously because they dont make them anymore

i get maybe 4-5 hours of battery life, maybe even 6 if im lucky

It's called a dock connector, not a USB port.
i found a product in the online store, that i guess you place the ipod mini on, and it gives you up to 20 or so more hours of time but then it says that you have to have a firewire port or cable?
What is it? The firewire port is on the computer, not the iPod.
If the original battery is going bad, the first thing to do is get that sorted out.

Cannot play any video (even youtube vids) on my HP TouchSmart 520 with Windows 8 in Metro Mode.

Just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
Upgrade was uneventful.. went very smoothly.
Problem is now I cannot play any videos in the new Metro Mode (I tried using various apps... Video, youtube player, etc).. not even youtube videos.
However, when I select Desktop mode.. everything still works fine.
Any idea what is wrong ?

This one is in general section. Will installation media be available for purchase? Back to Windows 8 requirements. Is Windows Media Center included in the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro? Least you are able to watch videos in other mode until you figure out what is best. Good luck frrw. Ounce you have figured out the software purchases you should post it to help others out. My computer is to old for upgrade. No drivers were made for it.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

1. Are Plug-ins Enabled?
    Enable Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security

2. Check whether you are currently in YouTube HTML 5 trial.

This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with the Flash player plugin. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
(1) Make sure all recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them.

Since you mentioned touch, does it matter whether you interact with the player using the mouse or your finger?

EVery time I try to play a video it tells me "cannot perform the operation at this time"

Try some basic troubleshooting steps and see if one of them work for you.
Quit the app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
See if you can launch the video from the search feature.
Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of any of your movies in the field at the top. When the movie appears in the search - tap on it and hopefully it will start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.

Videos will not play after downloading the mmost recent versions of Itunes and Quicktime. What can I do? The video tries to start but freezes and does not respond.

I tried putting quicktime in "safe mode", but that also did not solve the video-play problem.
However, I downloaded a video and that video does play.
A video may start but quickly freezes.
In itunes is the player "quicktime or itunes"?
When I open the quicktime player(its appearance doesn't look like a player with controls for play, pause, etc.).
Maybe the controls appear when play begins' however, then I try to open any song of video, I always get the same message: "Do you want to allow this website to open a program on your computer(in itunes, I assume).)
If i choose "yes" I get an error message.
I thought this additional information might be helpful, but you can just answer the original question if you have some additional ideas.

I recently installed Java 6 update 33, and adobe flash player 11 plugin, and now can't play any videos from any website in Mozilla, but Google Chrome works.

Cannot play any video from any website in Mozilla after installing Java 6 update 33, and adobe flash player 11 plugin. However, I can play videos from Google Chrome and also from Internet Explorer. For example, when I'm trying to play a you tube video in Mozilla, a black screen comes up with following error message: "An error has occurred. Please try again later."
(This is like the Wizard of Oz -- when the man comes to the little window in the door and says to Dorothy, "Come back tomorrow." )
