Cannot start the source application for this object - Embedded PDF in Excel 2007

I am having a real issue which unfortunately is intermittant and I cannot pinpoint what is causing the problem. Basically I am inserting a PDF object into an Excel worksheet and immediately after I insert it, it will open fine. If you click off into another cell and save the sheet, then try to reopen the embedded PDF, you get the error "cannot start the source application for this object".
Any help would be very much appreciated! Has anyone else run into this?

I got that problem with one of my client after updating from Adobe  Reader 8.2 to 9.3.1. Excel version was 2002 and not 2007 but this is Adobe problem.
Check that registry key for you Acrobat  Document key points to right AcroRead32.exe path at  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\LocalServer32
of  whatever key points to your Acrobat Document.
I used  Sysinternals Procmon to monitor registry activity and found a line and  opened that registry location and found out Adobe Reader 8.0 path there.
9:55:56,9021789     EXCEL.EXE    3236    RegOpenKey     HKCR\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\LocalServer32     SUCCESS    Desired Access: Maximum Allowed
I have seen that Adobe  Reader 9.3 doesn't update that registry and leaves Adobe Reader 8.0  values there. Same problem may be in other upgrade scenarios too.
In addition to that my Windows 7 with Office 2007 that has never had anything but Adobe Reader 9.x versions didn't had anything on that registry location and it gave me same "cannot start the source application for this object" error. Putting that path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" to LocalSever Default value fixed that too. Maybe Adobe should do something with this issue?

  • MAC OS:Word cannot locate the server application for AcroExch.Document.7.objects

In MAC OS,installed Adobe reader ,When I double click a pdf file in Word2011,it shows"Word cannot locate the server application for AcroExch.Document.7.objects".what can i do to fix it?

I found out through someone else. The "how to" find the place to add it was more challenging.
    Instructions:
    1. Take the Webarchive file and save it on your computer (anywhere is fine).
    2. Open MacMail and go to preferences>signatures and create a signature with any name and filler text. Close Macmail.
    3. Open your finder, go to the "Library" folder. If you cannot view your Library folder, open up "terminal" and simply paste in: chflags nohidden ~/Library/
(this will allow you to view your Library folder from now on)
    4. In your library folder, go to Mail>Mail Data>signatures
5.Copy the name of the signature file that is already in the signatures folder. It should look something like "079ADD83-A19F-4597-BBFC-4F35858894DE" After copying that name, delete the file.
    6. Go to the webarchive file you saved and rename it the name of the file you just deleted. Then paste that into the library>Mail>Mail Data>signatures folder.
    7. Open your macmail and see if it worked!
If my directions are not clear, you may find the following article helpful from step 5:  http://code.coneybeare.net/how-to-make-an-html-signature-in-apple-mail-f
Now here's how I managed to find my Library/Mail in OSX 10.7.3:
    Menu: Go
    Choose: Home
    Library
    Mail
    Vs
    Mail Data
    Signatures
    Hope this helps!

  • How to display the source code for this friggin' file.

Below is a rather lengthy bit of code that provides the behavior and attributes of a web server for OpenCyc. I need to know if I can enter some java to have the HTML source code displayed in a separate text file whenever this class returns some resulting webpage. JLundan,
I want to thank you for responding to the thread I started on the forum at java.sun.com. Your solution to my problem of needing to print the code of the html pages that the file I included generates was just what I was looking for. However, I have some further questions to ask, if you don't mind. To clarify my task I should say that your rephrasing of the problem is accurate: "You wan't to display the contents of the HTML file that the web server produces in response of client's request?"
Yes, this is what I need to do, but also it needs to display the source code of that html file that the server produces in response to the client's request. Also, in this case, I am the client requesting that the server return some html file, and I'm not sure where the server is. But the webserver.java file that I shared on the forum is on my local machine. I was wondering if I could modify this webserver.java file at my home so that any html file the server returns to me would automatically display the source code. This is a school project of mine and I am stuck on this one thing here.
Further, where would I put the "foo.html" file so it can be written to?
    FileOuputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("foo.html");
    fos.write(bytes);
    fos.close();
Thanks so much for your help. I look forward to your response, at your convenience.
    Regards

  • Is iPhoto the best application for this?

I want to create a presentation that I record for distribution as an mp4. I'll be using various slides, like in a powerpoint presentation. For the audio, I will use my voice.
Do I create the audio first and then the video or the video first and then the audio?
Is there a better program to use than iPhoto? I currently have iPhoto 08, but can upgrade to iPhoto 09.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jeanie

    Jeanie:
Do you still have a copy of iMovie HD 6 available? If so I would recommend you use that for creating your presentation as it allows precise alignment of audio to the video/slides. It came with my Power Mac G5 Dual-core 2GHz and can be extracted from the install disks that came with the computer using Pacifist

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

I have a Ipod Nano for 5 years and Saturday I was updating the latest Itunes and when I connect my Ipod to my PC I got a Code 37 error. I uninstalled the new itunes and put back the old itunes but my Ipod is still having the same error.  I did the same thing to unistall the ipod and itunes reboot the PC and installed itunes 10.7 back in and then my Ipod and still have the error. Then last night I tried out my Ipod Shuffle and connect it to my PC and it was installed successfully. Do I have to get a new Ipod if my nano isn't working (but it still plays)?

  • Can I print out the source pages for hyperlinks in a pdf

    http://www.stratishealth.org/documents/ClinicLinkJuly14_R.pdf
I have Acrobat X Pro. I've created the above PDF that shows hyperlinks as a clickable "Read more about it...." link. A reader has asked for a PDF that she can print out, yet it would somehow show the actual URL address that the "Read more about it..." link goes to. Anyone know of a way I can provide her with this?
Also, I thought I had found a way of printing a PDF and Acrobat would "grab" the actual web pages I've hyperlinked to, but I can't find any such functionality. I'm beginning to think I dreamed it.
    Thank you,
    Katharine

Took a look-see at the PDF. In all fairness it is the reader's responsibilty to create the PDFs for the web content at the "read more" link's end.
That content is not "yours" (you don't have the authoring files and don't deploy the web content).
The reader(s) who want PDF can use Acrobat to create PDF from the web pages.
Anyone with Acrobat Pro can use the application's "web capture" feature.
Takes time and doing it in your case is likely not what you get a paycheck for.
Time spent on it is time not spent on the job's "main thing" eh.
As well, other's web content Changes! Are you going to check the targets of the links every day, once a week, or .... how often? Changed content = new PDFs via web capture and distribution of same. How does that play to legalities?
All and all, it gets ugly fast.
But then it is your call eh.
    Be well...

How do I resolve this I have reinstalled iTunes but it still doesn't recognise my ipod

I reinstalled Itunes a couple of times.  I unistalled all programs that I never use, I updated all of my drivers, Windows swept my computer and found no problems.  I have a yellow causion lite when I look at the USB-port with the phone connected.  All other devices work without a problem.

    Hi Deb,
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience so far.
I am not sure if you already tried this, but in case not, try to update Muse via Creative cloud directly.
Start creative cloud application manager, if you dont have it, you can download it from here,
Adobe - Adobe Application Manager : For Windows : Adobe Application Manager
Login using your adobe id, once you are in, switch to Apps, and you should see the Update for Muse, click Update.
Let me know if you get any error or warning.
    Thanks.

In administering this policy I am a little confused.
We have a policy that distributes proxy settings in the internet explorer maintenance settings section - however when opening this policy up in GPO editor the internet explorer maintenance section is not present.
I plan to apply the settings via User/preferences/control panel settings/ internet settings (or registry settings from article) however I am unable to edit the settings for internet explorer maintenance and these will persist. Ideas????
