Cant get the current hour

Question

Hi i am trying to get the hour of the current time using the calendar class and when the time is on the 12th hour, the hour returns 0 instead of 12.
here is my code below:

                    calendar.setTime(new Date());
                    hour = calendar.get(calendar.HOUR);
