Cant run j2ee command
Hi,
I installed j2ee on linux. But when I run j2ee it says ./j2ee:/java/re/jdk1.3.1_02/latest/binaries/linux-i386/bin/java:No
such file or directory. Why is this.
Thanks,
Chamal.
I think you may need to install the SDK as well.

Cant run J2EE tutorial DukesBank ...
Hello,
I am new in Java and J2EE and want just run the J2EE tutorial DukesBank which i have downloaded from java.sun.com.
Therefore are following steps done:
1. starting the J2EE server (j2ee -start)
2. starting the cloudscape database (cloudscape -start)
3. starting deploytool
4. compile the sources (ant compile-ejb)
5. package the ejbs (ant package-ejb)
Now when i use the verifier in the deploytool then i got the error message:
FAILED: method [makePayment] does not throw valid application exception in Remote/Local interface [com.sun.ebank.ejb.tx.TxController]
I think this causes also the error message which i got when i goto localhost/bank in the webbrowser:
Server Error
Your request cannot be completed. The server got the following error
null
So now i have modified the interface TxController.java with deleting the method 'makePayment', also in TxControllerBean.java.
Then i compiled they again (ant compile-ejb and ant package-ejb) but I have the same problem again, so has the tutorial an error or do i need to modify something else ?!?
Many thanks for every help

Plato23DukesBank - RemoteException in AppClient package
The two ant invocations "ant compile-ejb" and "ant package-ejb" take care of of the EJBs. The simplest to way to bring Bank up is "ant all" and there is no need of Deploytool though you will need J2EE Server up.
The context root of the Bank is simply "bank" and the BankAdmin can be run using "runclient.bat" (with a few vanity changes).
This is as far as I go for running the Bank. But when I tried to activate the various functions in the BankAdmin, I kept getting "RemoteException" and could neither create accounts nor customers.
Can anybody out there help? Thanks

Running a command in a remote Powershell session
Hi,
I have used the Enter-PSSession to get a remote session on a domain controller... all is ok with that.
when i run the following command it fails, however if i run this locally on the domain controller it succeeds. this command is correct, it just fails with the remote powershell session
dsacls.exe "OU=MYTestOU,OU=Servers,DC=MyDomain,DC=Local" /G "mydomain\MyComputer$":GRGWCC
I have tried placing c:\windows\system32 before the exe, and i have also tried cmd /c dsacls.exe .........
i cant figure out why this doesnt work, can anyone help?
thanks
Stevestrange, if i run the command for a user account instead of a computer account and remove the "" around it, it works.
dsacls.exe "OU=MYTestOU,OU=Servers,DC=MyDomain,DC=Local" /G mydomain\steve:GRGWCC
it must be that $ sign that is causing the problems....? -

Though applmgr have full permissions on this mount point where instance is hosted, giving this error.What is going wrong does not know?

Hi all
After installing everything and making all PATH lines needed, i run j2ee :
C:\j2ee -verbose
and get error messages :
"Insufficient environmental space" (16 times)
"Syntax error" (3 times)
"Insufficient environmental space" (1 time)
"invalid command or filename"
I would like to know if this might be because :
1) My pc hardware is too limited to run j2ee (Ibm laptop with some P3 processor and 128 RAM)
2) Some Internet or network service should be run before running j2ee
3) There are many other things to configure before running j2ee
If none of those, do u have an idea to solve the pb ?
Thx a lot for helping :)U can increase the Environment memory of ur dos thro its properties and set to above 4000.
Syntax error is due to the setenv.bat for that
comment r change the path
set JAAS_OPTIONS
set SSL_OPTIONS
set LISTEN_OPTIONS
After this run ur j2ee verbose . -

C:\Java\jwstutorial20\jwstutorial20\examples\jaxws\simpleclient>Sometimes is this tutorial a littlebit weird.
The asant skript creates the simpleclient.jar in the wrong directory.
it should be in /simpleclient but it is in /simpleclient/dist.
I copied it, and it works fine. -
Running linux commands from pl/sql
Hi, I'm using a java class to run os commands but it doesn't work, i think it's permissions but i cant understand why.
the java class is the following:
import java.io.*;
import java.lang.*;
public class RunCmd extends Object{
public static int RunThis(String args){
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
int rc = -1;
try{
Process p = rt.exec(args);
int bufSize = 4096;
BufferedInputStream bis =
new BufferedInputStream(p.getInputStream(), bufSize);
int len;
byte buffer[] = new byte[bufSize];
while ((len = bis.read(buffer, 0, bufSize)) != -1)
System.out.write(buffer, 0, len);
rc = p.waitFor();
catch (Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
rc = -1;
finally
return rc;
the pl/sql function i created:
function run_cmd(p_cmd in varchar2) return number as language java name 'RunCmd.RunThis(java.lang.String) return oracle.sql.NUMBER';
i gave the following permissions:
begin
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'SYS:java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'execute');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'SYS:java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'write');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'SYS:java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'read');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'SYS:java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'delete');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', '*', 'readFileDescriptor');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', '*', 'writeFileDescriptor');
Dbms_Java.grant_Permission(user, 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'readFileDescriptor', '');
Dbms_Java.grant_Permission(user, 'SYS:java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'writeFileDescriptor', '');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'execute');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'write');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'read');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'java.io.FilePermission', '/home/mails/*', 'delete');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'java.lang.RuntimePermission', '*', 'readFileDescriptor');
dbms_java.grant_permission(user, 'java.lang.RuntimePermission', '*', 'writeFileDescriptor' );
Dbms_Java.grant_Permission(user, 'java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'readFileDescriptor', '');
Dbms_Java.grant_Permission(user, 'java.lang.RuntimePermission', 'writeFileDescriptor', '');
commit;
end;
The command i'm trying to execute is:
select run_cmd('/bin/sh -c "ls -ltr /home/mails> /home/mails/teste.txt"') from dual;
i gave chmod 777 /home/mails and i already run this command directly in console mode and works just fine, so i dont think it's permissions related to the user oracle.
when i run
select run_cmd('/bin/sh -c "ls -ltr /home/mails> /home/mails/teste.txt"') from dual;
it returns 2
if i run
select run_cmd('/bin/sh -c ls -ltr /home/mails> /home/mails/teste.txt') from dual;
it returns 127
if i run just
select run_cmd('ls -ltr /home/mails> /home/mails/teste.txt') from dual;
it returns -1
if anyone as any clue please, i'm trying to solve this problem for 2 days and i don't have any clue for the solution...when i remove the /bin/sh -c it returns -1
i think that it runs the command because there is a diference in the return value from a valid command a an invalid, for example:
if i run a valid command
select k_cs_controlo.run_cmd('/bin/sh -c "ls -ltr /home/mails > /home/mails/teste.txt"') from dual;
it retuns 2
if i run an invalid command(removed the " between the ls command)
select k_cs_controlo.run_cmd('/bin/sh -c ls -ltr /home/mails > /home/mails/teste.txt') from dual
it returns 127
thanks for the replies Sven -

Urgent!! running system command in java
i am trying to run system command(windows) in java. I am getting
exception as java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: c:\dir
Please Help.
Here is the code
import java.io.*;
public class RunCommand {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try
//run dir command
Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("c:\\dir");
BufferedReader stdInput=new BufferedReader(new
InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
BufferedReader stdError =new BufferedReader(new
InputStreamReader(p.getErrorStream()));
//read the output
System.out.println("here is the output:\n");
while((s=stdInput.readLine())!=null){
System.out.println(s);
System.out.println("here is the error if any");
while((s=stdError.readLine())!=null){
System.out.println(s);
System.exit(0);
}//end try
catch (IOException e)
System.out.println("exception Happened" );
e.printStackTrace();
System.exit(-1);It works fine if you replaceProcess p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("c:\\dir");withProcess p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c dir");And don't forget to define your s variable.

Run shell commands using java program
Hi guys,
I am trying to run shell commands like cd /something and ./command with arguments as follows, but getting an exception that ./command not found.Instead of changing directory using "cd" command I am passing directory as an argument in rt,exec().
String []cmd={"./command","arg1", "arg2", "arg3"};
File file= new File("/path");
try{
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process proc = rt.exec(cmd,null,file);
proc.waitFor();
System.out.println(proc.exitValue())
BufferedReader buf = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(proc.getInputStream()));
catch(Exception e)
{e.printStackTrace();
So can anyone please tell me what is wrong with this approach? or is there any better way to do this?
Thanks,

What gives you the idea that the process to execute is called "./command"? If this is in Windows, it is "cmd.exe" for example.It does not have to be cmd.exe in Windows. Any executable or .bat file can be executed as long as one either specifies the full path or the executable is in a directory that is in the PATH.
On *nix the file has to have the executable bit set and one either specifies the full path or the executable must be in a directory that is in the PATH . If the executable is a script then if there is a hash-bang (#!) at the start of the first line then the rest of the line is taken as the interpreter to use. For example #!/bin/bash or #!/usr/bin/perl .
One both window and *nix one can exec() an interpreter directly and then pass the commands into the process stdin. The advantage of doing this is that one can change the environment in one line and it remains in effect for subsequent line. A simple example of this for bash on Linux is
import java.io.OutputStreamWriter;
import java.io.Writer;
public class ExecInputThroughStdin
public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception
final Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("bash");
new Thread(new PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(process.getErrorStream(), System.err)).start();
new Thread(new PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(process.getInputStream(), System.out)).start();
final Writer stdin = new OutputStreamWriter(process.getOutputStream());
stdin.write("xemacs&\n");
stdin.write("cd ~/work\n");
stdin.write("dir\n");
stdin.write("ls\n");
stdin.write("gobbldygook\n"); // Forces output to stderr
stdin.write("echo $PATH\n");
stdin.write("pwd\n");
stdin.write("df -k\n");
stdin.write("ifconfig\n");
stdin.write("echo $CWD\n");
stdin.write("dir\n");
stdin.write("cd ~/work/jlib\n");
stdin.write("dir\n");
stdin.write("cat /etc/bash.bashrc\n");
stdin.close();
final int exitVal = process.waitFor();
System.out.println("Exit value: " + exitVal);
}One can use the same approach with Windows using cmd.exe but then one must be aware of the syntactic differences between commands running in .bat file and command run from the command line. Reading 'help cmd' s essential here.
The class PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable in the above example just copies an InputStream to an OutputStream and I use
import java.io.IOException;
import java.io.InputStream;
import java.io.OutputStream;
public class PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable implements Runnable
public PipeInputStreamToOutputStreamRunnable(InputStream is, OutputStream os)
is_ = is;
os_ = os;
public void run()
try
final byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
for (int count = 0; (count = is_.read(buffer)) >= 0;)
os_.write(buffer, 0, count);
} catch (IOException e)
e.printStackTrace();
private final InputStream is_;
private final OutputStream os_;

Running Shell Commands (not Executable) in Unix from Java
What are my options to run shell commands from Java?
My goal is to change my existing shell environment variables to some new ones provided by .anotherProfile.
Using an executable from Java is not an option because it does not work i.e. ( exec(". /home/.profile") ) brings up errors.
Someone has suggested that I start a child shell with that profile and work from there, but I'm unfamiliar with that sort of syntax and programming in general.
Any good help equals duke dollars :)Well there are some possibilities. In the original thread you mentioned that you wanted the shell script to be executed to change some enviroment parameters of the shell the JVM is executing in.
If so, and you are able to rewrite the profile so you can parse it manually. Then you can change some environment setting by writing the JNI wrappers for the getenv and setenv system calls. (Check your man pages)
That will change the environment. I am just wondering what good it will do for you? What's use of sourcing the profile in a JVM? -
Applescript for running sudo commands in terminal
I'm a newbie when it comes to Applescript and was wondering if someone could help with a basic request. I need to write a small script to do the following:
1. Launch terminal
2. Run the 'Sudo -s' command
3. Enter the administrator password (in plain text)
and then
4. run some sudo commands like "sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow HiddenUsersList -array-add administrator"
I actually WANT the administrator password to be in the script in plain text even though I understand the security risks (I will literally be the only person to ever see the script). I've trawled forums all over but can't seem to find what I am looking for and cannot get it working by patching together the various commands I have found. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
SeanI've included two examples. The preferred way & the hacker way.
with administrator
It is easier to diagnose problems with debug information. I suggest adding log statements to your script to see what is going on. Here is an example.
Author: rccharles
For testing, run in the Script Editor.
1) Click on the Event Log tab to see the output from the log statement
2) Click on Run
For running shell commands see:
http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn2002/tn2065.html
on run
-- Write a message into the event log.
log " --- Starting on " & ((current date) as string) & " --- "
-- debug lines
set unixDesktopPath to POSIX path of "/System/Library/User Template/"
log "unixDesktopPath = " & unixDesktopPath
set quotedUnixDesktopPath to quoted form of unixDesktopPath
log "quoted form is " & quotedUnixDesktopPath
try
set fromUnix to do shell script "sudo ls -l " & quotedUnixDesktopPath with administrator privileges
display dialog "ls -l of " & quotedUnixDesktopPath & return & fromUnix
on error errMsg
log "ls -l error..." & errMsg
end try
end run
This version has an inline password.
Notice the echo 'password' |
The single quotes are no accident.
