Cant run login.sql in 10.2.0.3

using redhat linux. logging into sqlplus from the linux environment.
my login.sql script does not run on login. when i try to execute it, nothing happens and i just get a new prompt. If I rename the file to login.old I can run it.
I created a login.sql with just select 1 from dual; in it and it does not execute. if i rename the file to anything else it runs fine.
I noticed that our prompts are now set up by sqlplus. I was wondering if they disabled writing your own login.sql ? However, the new setup does not run a define_editor=vi line which I need and tend to forget to run on my own.

  • Cant run Native SQL from the New BADI enhancements

I m trying to execute a Native SQL statement from the new BADI enhancement in ECC 6.0. Its very simple piece of code
    data: v_count type i.
    EXEC SQL.
      SELECT zvbeln
             INTO :v_count
             FROM zvi2d
             WHERE zvbeln = :'0000010476'.
    ENDEXEC.
It compiles and runs perfectly fine in a regular program but in the BADI it keeps giving compile error "Field specification missing" on the SELECT zvbeln line.
In general things dont seem to work right at all in this BADI I dont understand what the problem is. This BADI is being used to populate the EDI Segments and gets called asynchronously
    Thanks for reading

why would you want to use Native SQL for this, why not just do this:
    SELECT zvbeln
    INTO v_count
    FROM zvi2d
    WHERE zvbeln = '0000010476'.
    result will be the same.

  • Running utlbstat.sql script

for testing performance i want to run the utlbstat.sql script
can i run this script using windows run command.
    i cant run utlesast.sql also.
so i cant see the report using report.txt

The UTLBSTAT.SQL is ran from the SQL prompt in SQLPLUS like this as in the case of UN*X:
    SQL> @ ${ORACLE_HOME}/rdbms/admin/utlbstat.sql
The @ tells SQLPLUS to read the commands/statements from a file.
It is on a similar path in windoze.

  • Several errors after running catalog.sql

I did a fresh installation of oracle apps EBS 11.5.10.2 on Linux OEL and was trying to do an import/export and it was not working as expected. So after i looked at Oracle's documentation it said catalog.sql has to be run before using the import/export. So i ran catalog.sql first but i did not run it with SYSDBA but ran it as SYSTEM and i saw several errors like access denied etcv. after i ran the catalog.sql i was not able to login via apps or any other user except SYSTEM and was giving me erros like ORA-04065:not executed, altered or dropped stored procedure "SYS.DBMS_SESSION"
After this to fix the issue i ran @?/rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql and @?/rdbms/admin/utlrp as SYSDBA but both executed a lot of grants etc but are haging at some point and not finishing.
The current state of the database is that im not able to login via any user except SYSTEM and i think i corrupted the db dictionary as everywhere i see they say running catalog.sql on an existing database is a bad idea. Can anyone help?

    Hi Dheeraj,
My db version is 9.2.0.5.0 and OS is OEL 5.7.
The doc where it was mentioned to run catalog.sql before using import/export is below:

Please do not follow the steps in this link and instead follow the steps in (9i Export/Import Process for Oracle Applications Release 11i [ID 230627.1]).
Currently when im trying to login using apps or any other user below are errors i get.

  • Credential problem while running with SQL job agent

    Hi,
SQL job agent fails to run when I change my computer login (Password) credentials information often.
How I can run the SQL job agent with Database login credentials.
    Regards
    Venkatesh S

    Hi Venkatesh,
If I understand correctly, you are using a proxy account has your login credential to run a step of SQL Agent Job. So when you change the login’s password, the credential of the proxy account has an expired password, then the proxy account doesn’t work in
    your job.
As per my understanding, we can only use SQL Server Agent Service Account or Proxy Account to run the SQL Server Integration Services Package steps in SQL Agent Job. Since the SQL Server Agent Service Account may not have required permissions to access the
resources in the packages, we recommend use Proxy Account. To create Proxy Account, we should create a credential first. To create a credential, we should specify a Windows user account. So we cannot use a SQL Server authentication login to run the job.
A good workaround is use a windows user account with a password that never expire or changes rarely or update the password of credential followed by your login.

  • Does SQL Developer has login.sql script where I can put all the env SQLs?

    Hello community,
Please help me out with a simple question.
Each time I start SQL Developer (3.1) and connect to a database I need to run:
    alter session set nls_date_format='YYYY.MM.DD HH24:MI:SS';
to set data fields format to reflect hours, minutes and seconds.
Can I automate it? I use login.sql in SQL Plus tro setup environment including data formant .
How to do it in SQL Dev?
    Thank you in advance,
    Yury

    Hi Yury,
    You have a choice:
    1. Specify the login script via Tools|Preferences|Database|Filename for the connection startup script.
    2. Specify the value of nls_date_format directly via Tools|Preferences|NLS|Date Format (and perhaps additionally the Timestamp formats).
Recall that not all SQL*Plus commands are supported by Worksheet, but alter session does in fact work just fine.

  • For running utlrp.sql need users termination from the database?

    Hai All,
My database jobs terminated in some time. So I want to run utlrp.sql for compiling all invalid objects. Is It needs users termination from the database? or login to restricted session? Please give a correct step for doing this activity..
    Please help?
    Shiju

database? or login to restricted session? Please
give a correct step for doing this activity..
It is good , if you run utlrp.sql in restricted mode also set job_queue_processes =0 and check no dbms_job running package ( if package is valid then fine ). Problem only come when package/procedure are locked/in use by session. If invalid package are not used by any session then you can run utlrp.sql without restricted mode also. Well you know better you application.
Since you not altering any dependencies, just want to compile , you can run without restricted mode.

  • Peoplesoft signon error after run psbuild.sql

I followed the PT849 installation guide
    Task B-15-6: Altering PeopleTools Tables
ALTER AUDIT is an online utility used to check whether the PeopleTools tables are synchronized with the
underlying SQL data tables in your database. This process compares the data structures of your database tables
with the PeopleTools tables to uncover inconsistencies. ALTER AUDIT then reports its findings. In this
release, we expect to see differences between the database structure and the tools tables. You will generate and
run a SQL script to synchronize the PeopleTools table definitions with the underlying tables in your database.
After run the script psbuild.sql generated by Application Designer
    I found I can't login use VP1/VP1

Try to run grant.sql once again. The ALTER AUDIT might change (drop+create) some tables and then remove grant to people user. By issuing grant.sql (after updating correctly) you reapply the grant as well.

Starting with Oracle Database 11g Release 1, the diagnosability infrastructure was introduced which places the trace and core files into a location controlled by the DIAGNOSTIC_DEST initialization parameter when an incident, such as an ORA-600 is created. For earlier versions, the trace file will be written to either USER_DUMP_DEST (if the error was caught in a user process) or BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST (if the error was caught in a background process like PMON or SMON). The trace file contains vital information about what led to the error condition

  • Msg 8631 Internal error: Server stack limit has been reached on SQL Server 2012 from T-SQL script that runs on SQL Server 2008 R2

I have an Script mostly that is generated by SSMS which works with-out issue on SQL Server 2008, but when I attempt to run it on a new fresh install of SQL Server 2012 I get an Msg 8631. Internal error: Server stack limit has been reached. Please look for
potentially deep nesting in your query, and try to simplify it.
The script itself doesn't seem to be all that deep or nested.  The script is large 2600 lines and when I remove the bulk of the 2600 lines, it does run on SQL Server 2012.  I'm just really baffled why something that SQL Server generated with very
few additions/changes AND that WORKS without issue in SQL Server 2008 R2 would suddenly be invalid in SQL Server 2012
I need to know why my script which is working great on our current SQL Server 2008 R2 servers suddenly fails and won't run on an new SQL Server 2012 server.  This script is used to create 'bulk' Replications on a large number of DBs saving a tremendous
amount of our time doing it the manual way.
Below is an 'condensed' version of the script which fails.  I have removed around 2550 lines of specific sp_addarticle statements which are mostly just copy and pasted from what SQL Management Studio 'scripted' for me went I when through the Replication
