Capacity sizing document for Forms on iAS(Oracle Application Server)

Hi,
I need to know from where I can get Capacity planning document for Forms on Oracle Application Server for Intel/Solaris/Aix arch. Please Advise.
Regards,
Noman

Hi,
we have several developers working with developer suite 10g. Our OAS runs on Linux as yours. All our developers work locally using windows-pc's. We have a samba share we use to move the developed sources to the linux box. On the linux box with have some scirpts to compile the sources and move them to the runtime-directory.
The final integration test in then done using the installed application on the oas.
This works without having any problems for more two years now.
btw: Be aware of the problems you will run into when moving an application from windows to linux:
-> All filename ar Case-sensitive
-> the writing of module-names in OPEN_FORM, NEW_FORM, CALL_FORM must match exactly the filename (in other words: call_form, open_form and new_form is also case-sensitive
-> Attached librarys are also case-sensitive, even if there are shown in uppercase in the module-navigator.
hope this helps.

  • Installation of forms reports and oracle application server 10g

    Hi,
I have been using client server till now, now planning to move to 10g. Got the developer suite 10g.
Tell me how and where to install forms/reports and Oracle application server... I mean forms reports should be on developer PC then what about application server? should it be on a different dedicated server? or can i have it on database server?
in case, if I install application server on one server and database is on another server then what about forms and reports?
please tell me which is the right option?

    One for the database server.
    One for the Application Server.
The Application Server is basically used for hosting your forms and reports, so you dont have to place the forms and reports on the developer PC or at any other server.

  • Deploying 10g 32bit forms on 64bit oracle application server

    Hi
Can forms that are generated from forms developer on a 10g 32bit environment be deployed on a 64bit oracle application server?
    Anthony.

Forms generated with Windows 32bit 10g run fine on Windows 64bit 10g because on Windows 64bit you have to run ApplicationServer 32 bit.
Using Linux might be different, but I don't know.
Using 11g You cannot run iAs 32 bit on Windows 64bit Platform and You cannot run 32bit generated Forms on iAs 64 bit.

  • Forms 10g in Oracle Application Server.

    Dear All,
We are now using OC4J in Oracle Application for our Java/J2EE application, we have now developed some forms screens in Oracle forms 10g.
Can we integrate both these application such away that the user logins thru Java Application and uses Forms screens without entering the username & password two times.
Help me in solving this issue.
    Regards,
    Anandh.B

Yes, by using SSO you can achieve it. The partner applications should be registered with SSO.
Method will depend on your version of OAS for the two applications.

  • How to use LDAP with Oracle forms 10g on Oracle application server

    Hi,
I need some help on this. I have developed oracle forms 10g on application server 9iAS. The client want to use the existing LDAP authentication to the software we wrote. I do not know how I could configure to use the existing LDAP authentication . If anyone know how would I use the existing LDAP on different server to use when they logon to our menu in 10g to validate the user. Do I need to add any varibales in formweb.cfg or any other method. Please help.
    Thanks
    Luksh

I am not quite sure if this works out of the box. According to an Oracle FAQ:
4.2 Can I use LDAP to authenticate Forms Services?
Not directly. However, Oracle Login Server is able to authenticate against a LDAP directory and thus a Forms application can take advantage of this in a SSO environment. But you cannot use access control information stored in a LDAP directory with Forms.

  • Deploying forms and reports on Application Server 10g

I had buit some forms, reports by using Oracle Developer Suite( Oracle Form developer, Report developer ) , I had run them on that tools. Now I want to deploy on Oracle Application Server. How can do it , any one can tell me step by step (because I'm a beginer). How do I deploy on Application Server ? I had installed Oracle Application Server (without install Infrastructure) , can I deploy ? because My computer not support install Oracle Application Server with Infrastructure (memory only 512M). Are there any way ?
I'm beginer, please tell me step by step. thanks

    Hi,
You can install the Oracle Application Forms and Reports standalone version of the application server. This does not require an infrastructure.
As far as deployment of Forms and Reports, you can either place your compiled (.fmx and .rep) files in the default \forms90 directory or you can place them in another directory and specify the location in the formsweb.cfg file.
For more information on the Oracle Forms and Reports standalone, see the installation guide at http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19375_06/doc/frs/install/B16392_03/toc.htm.
For information in deploying Oracle Forms, see the Oracle® Application Server Forms Services Deployment Guide at http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19375_06/doc/frs/forms/B14032_03/toc.htm
Reports deployment info is contained in the Oracle® Application Server Reports Services Publishing Reports to the Web at http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19375_06/doc/frs/reports/B14048_02/toc.htm

  • Security Evaluation of Oracle Application Server

Are there any published documents on security evaluation of Oracle Application Server?
Is it secure as a tool against some attacks, for example, are following vulnerabilities when applicable to the server dealt with or should be handled by application? :
    failure to restrict url access,
    broken authentication and session management
    insecure cryptographic storage,
    injection flaws
    failure to restrict directory browsing
Are there available document that we can refer to on these issues?

    Thank you again.
Can you advise on this part of my message also?
"Also I see in oracle recommended architectures that there is a firewall between each http server and application server. Does the built in OHS in OAS provide the firewall? or I need to install another firewall?"
I am going to explain it but I think it is completely inconsistent with the thread title which I got some of my answers in, so let me start a new thread here:

    Thanks for your useful inputs.

  • Hardware Sizing for Oracle Application Server and MapViewer

    Hi all,
I need to develop an application using Oracle Application Server 10g and MapViewer. The applicaction will, basically, do thematic maps based on a search criteria. The estimative is that we will have 25 users simultaneously using it.
I´d like to have an idea about the hardware to support it.
Do you know where I can get this information?
    Any documentation can help.
    Regards,
    Luis Augusto

    Hi Luis,
It may depend on your database size, but I think at least you need to meet the minimum requirements for the Application Server. You can find additional documentation for the AS at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html.
However I would suggest some extra memory, and if possible the better CPU that you can get. MapViewer will render the spatial features on the server side, and depending on your database size and number of features returned from the queries, this extra memory will help.

    Posting from another thread :-
    http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/76916/2/
    i have resolved the problem
    the solution is to :
-download jacob.jar and jacob.dll and frmwebutil.jar all directories (com and jini), you put them into the both directories ORACLE_HOME/forms/java and ORACLE_HOME/forms/webutil.
-download webutil.pll and webutil.olb package , copy all files into ORACLE_HOME/forms/java and ORACLE_HOME/forms/webutil.
-create a new user webutil on your data base and create the package webutil_db using script create_webutil_db.sql
after that you compile again webutil.pll and you forms.
all this steps are described in this document:

  • Developing for a Oracle Application Server with SSO

    Hello there,
I'm developing an application (Java) that will be deployed as a partner application within an Oracle Application Server 10g at my client. This Oracle instance has a SSO already configured, and my app will use this Identity Manager (consuming the cookie). The problem is that at my company we don't have a SSO system configured, not even an Oracle Application Server, just a simple Oracle XE 10g to hold data. So I'm wondering how can I do to develop my application and test it.
I was looking forward to install an OAS and configure an SSO to validate my implementation, but the download link provided by Oracle is broken (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/index.html). Another alternative that I thought of was to install an OC4J and configure a Java SSO to simulate the behavior of OSSO, and make my app the cookie set by it. But OC4J supports only til Servlet 2.4 and my app is using 2.5...
And to complete, I cannot access my client's environment. I'm supposed to write a Deploying document telling him how to deploy my app and then try to access it through Internet.
Does anyone have an idea of how can I develop and test my app in my company's environment?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bruno Krebs.

Apache 2.0 based OHS is located in Oracle Application Server Companion CD.
