Capital letters problem

Hello guys,
A user yesterday reported that he couldn't get the list of his company when he tried to search with his company's first word in the search prompt(dashboard prompt)....
The issue is he tried searching with small letters whereas his company names were stored in database in capital letters.
Is there a way to fix this...or a workaround to restrict users to entering only in capital letters whether or not caps is ON on the keyboard.

Table entries only with capital letters

I have created a table with some entries.One of these is type char length 65.My problem appears when i try to add entries to my table in this field,it will automatically transform them in capital letters.Even if i write with small letters,when saving,it will save my text with capital letters.How can i change this?

Make below change in the DOMAIN for that field
Domain
Defination Tab
Tick Lower Case Checkbox of Output Characteristics..
Use
When this attribute is activated, you can enter both upper and lower
case letters; conversion to upper case does not then take place. Use of
this attribute only makes sense with character formats.

Issue with capital letters

Hi folks!
I usually make translations of video materials in my language (italian), so I usually open Word for Mac and Quick Time Pro together.
Since I write these translations in capital letters, to make them easier to read by voice talents, I noticed that, in last Quick Time updates, with caps Lock inserted the transport keys J, K, L don't work, and the keys I and O (to loop a sequence) either.
Have you ever heard about it?
Is anybody able to suggest a work-out?

Not really a workaround or a solution, but two things to consider...
1) DOING SCRIPTS IN ALL CAPS IS AN ARCHAIC PRACTICE WHICH DATES BACK TO THE STONE AGES WHEN THE ONLY WAY TO GET LARGE TEXT WAS TO USE A PRIMARY TYPEWRITER WHICH WAS INCAPABLE OF PRODUCING LOWER CASE TEXT. I STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MIXED CASE IN A LARGE FONT SIZE, WHICH IS ACTUALLY MUCH EASIER TO READ THAN ALL-CAPS, HAS STILL NOT BECOME THE WORLDWIDE STANDARD. THIS PARAGRAPH IS IN CAPS NOT BECAUSE I AM TRYING TO SHOUT, WHICH IS THE USUAL INTERPRETATION ON THE INTERNET, BUT TO DEMONSTRATE A POINT: READING THIS PARAGRAPH IS ACTUALLY MADE MORE DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THE CAPS AS THEY OBSCURE THE SYMBOLS, THE SENTENCE ENDINGS, AND ANY OTHER METHODS WHICH MIGHT BE USEFUL FOR EMPHASIS.
THAT SAID, IT MAY NOT REALLY BE YOUR CHOICE. OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH WHATEVER STANDARDS ARE ESTABLISHED BY YOUR CLIENT, EVEN IF THOSE STANDARDS DON'T REALLY MAKE SENSE.
2) Have you considered getting yourself a Shuttle Express or Shuttle Pro controller? I'm trying to remember the manuf...I think it's Contour Design or something like that. Yeah, here it is: http://www.contourdesign.com It's a multimedia controller which plugs into the USB port and emulates a jog/shuttle control found on a professional VCR. The neat thing about it is that all of the buttons and functions are completely programmable, and you can even use it to fire off AppleScripts. I've got the Shuttle Express which has five buttons (the Shuttle Pro has "a whole bunch"), and the really cool thing about it is that because you can program it on a per-application basis or on a global basis. Even cooler is that the device focus does not necessarily follow the application focus, but it does follow the mouse pointer.
(Okay, Dave, what the heck does all that mean?)
What that means is that not only can you use it as a bi-directional jog/shuttle controller for QuickTime, not only can you program the buttons for, say, set-in, set-out, play-forward, loop, stop...but I'm pretty certain that you can set it up so that while you are TYPING MERRILY AWAY IN ALL CAPS IN MICROSOFT WEIRD, it can still control QuickTime Player *even though QuickTime Player is not the foreground application*.
It isn't really a solution or a workaround to your problem, but it's a tool that might be beneficial to your workflow.

Converting Capital Letters to Small Letters issue

Half of this program works, meaning it does convert capital letters to small, but then when the letter is already small in the array as shown in the array list, I am having problems printing that out...I am confused.

I am having the exact same issue, and it's a problem with any & all fonts I've tried. Of course, my keyboard's CAPS LOCK feature is OFF -- and I've tried many different font styles, nearly all of which allow for standard, non-ALL-CAPS usage.
I'm intending to use Century Gothic for the work I'm doing right now, but it's been an ongoing issue for at least a few weeks -- but I know I never had an issue with this before recently. (Note that I typically don't use or need the text tool for most of the photo editing work that I do w/PSE, so I'm not sure how long this has been an issue.)
In addition, I would like to access other font-setting-related features, like kerning, character spacing, small caps, & other adjustments, etc. -- but I don't see ANYWHERE within the program (or on this forum...or online) how to adjust these relatively standard settings.

Why are all my fonts capital letters only?

I was trying to design a birthday invite the other day and all of my fonts are only typing in capital letters. The caps lock is not on and i tried messing with the button on my keyboard thinking maybe it was sticking but this problem is only happening in photoshop. How did my fonts become all caps locked and how can i fix it?

Momentarily stops working when shift key is used to type in capital Letters

I've been using Firefox for an year, when ever I try to use shift key to google something or type something in capital letters firefox momentarily stops and resumes after 45-60 seconds..!
I'm using the latest version of firefox 23.0.1 but, the problem still persists.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

MacBook Pro only writing in CAPITAL LETTERS

Hi there,
my new MacBook Pro has a strange tick. Sometimes it only writes in capital letters, though capslock not activated, also when switching to see all windows one movement (there or back) is very slow. Already did the hardware test, no problems found. When I use external keyboard working normally and problem stops after a while. Anyone observed the same? Solution??

Text changed to Capital letters in SM30

Hi Folks,
I've made an update view. But i'm having a problem, because whenever I enter some text in a description field, and save the row through the sm30, he changes it to capital letters and I wan't it to maintain the text exactly as the user entered it.
Am I missing something when declaring the update view?

You need to set the indicator "Lower case" at the domain of that field.
You need go again regenrate the Table maintaianace to make this effective.

I think if you keep pressing the same key over and over it will switch to capitals and other characters.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...

Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

HT204409 my iphone 3gs cannot use wifi passwords that have capital letters

I have tried many times at 2 different locations to try and connect my iphone 3gs. Yes it is old, but I have comcast and it will connect to "xfinitywifi" cause the password is all lower case, but will not accept any password that has capital letters. I shouldn't have to change my password to accommodate this phone. Very frustated. Bout to go get an Android, if this doesnt get fixed.

There is no problem using a password with uppercase letters in iOS.

hi all
got my iphone 3gs yesterday and im having problems entering passwords that contain capital letters.
I understand how to change to uppercase on the touch keyboard and the passwords are definetly being entered with the capital letters in the correct places.
I even typed the password as a note and then pasted it into the password field and it was still rejected.
In the end i changed one of my passwords to all lower case and its was accepted first time!
This is happening when i try to enter passwords on webpages in safari and when i try to set up mail accounts.
Anyone else come across this or got any ideas what im doing wrong?
As i said im 100% sure im typing the passwords correctly.

Theres no such parameter... and I don't understand why would you do that, that will make passwords less complex.
In any case... if you limit the amount of caracters to say 8 and force 1 special caracter and 1 number, then you can set the minimun amount of capitals to 6 meaning all have to be capitals.
Again, I wouldn't do that.

For web and computing experts I would like to remind them that all the peoples nowadays have the same needs (or hobbies if you wish) regarding the electronic devices, web, compouters, softwares and that sort of thing.

1. I noticed on the you tube videos about the new ipad that the main icons are more than mine (i.e. the icon of facebook and a number or others are missing)
2. I would like to ask you to do me a favour, thanks for your patiene. Still I have not understood how (in which way, the pictures, transfered from my system or new taken by the ipad camera are uploaded directly to the FaceBook. I suppose that I will not have the same difficulties regarding the videos to both Facebook AND YoutTube. Some of the apps shown in adverts / videos have been downloaded from the App Store, they don't come pre-installed e.g. the Facebook app is a free download the app store : 'official' Facebook app.
To upload photos to Facebook you can use the above app - you can't, for example, use Safari on the iPad to upload content to sites.
Not sure whether any apps allow you to upload videos to YouTube (I don't use the site).
