Capital One Platinum Card...Should I apply for a Quicksilver next month also?

Have you tried the Cap1 pre-qual site?
https://findmycard.capitalone.com/en/PageVersions/LandingPages/LP_UNS_QUICK_RWD_V01.aspx

If it says, "XXXX, we couldn't match your records to a card offer. But based on your answers, we think you might like this card." - - I would NOT app.
If it gives you a preapproval on the Cap1 Quicksilver, I'd try it depending on the rest of your profile.  I opened the Platinum as a secured $200 card in January. I PIF'd every month and in June I checked the preapproval site and it prepaproved be for the Quicksilver. I applied and got $1,000 unsecured. I ran some charges and paid them right away and they gave me a $300 unsecured CLI on the Platinum card just a couple weeks later.
I really like the QS card so far because of the cashback.

  • What Credit Cards Should I Apply For?

Hi there, My Ch7 was discharged 4/15/15. I have applied for a First Premier Card (approved at $700) & Target (declined) and that is it. What cards should I apply for? Trying to rebuild and not sure how to go about it. Any advice is very much appreciated. All accounts are showing as closed on credit reports except for student loans.  Transunion is 558/ Equifax is 575

Hello, My BK7 was discharged in late March. I just applied for Express and New York & Co store cards using this link http://www.doctorofcredit.com/shopping-cart-trick-get-credit-cards-without-the-hard-pull/ This link contains a list of retail cards you can get with a SOFT PULL!! Just go to the retail site, put items in your cart, go to checkout.  If a card invitation pops up, click on it and be sure to use the same address that's on your credit report. The application only asks for the last 4 of your SS.  Since I recently moved, I entered my old address and immediately after approval called customer service to update my address and find out the credit limit.  Each account has a $250 limit. I think this  is a good way to avoid secured cards or worse yet, cards like 1st Premier and Credit One with outrageous rates.  My cards will arrive any day now! With proper usage of these accounts and my student loans reporting good payment history, I expect to receive unsecured offers in a few months.

  • How many cards should I apply for ?

So, recently, I applied for 2 new cards ( both with capital one) and got approved for both ( credit score is 621). Currently, I have 5 inquries on my credit report, hence, I'm wondering should I apply for one additiona card? Alternatively, should I simply build my scores higher in order to get a better card in the future? Thanks!

Sure! Experian is 621, and 602, 600 ( Trans/Eq).  Currently, I have a Wells Fargo Secured Card ( $300 Limit), which is almost 3 years old (long time for secured I know).  The two new capital one cards both have $1,000 limits.  I still have 3-4 baddies ( small amount med collections) that I will get removed within in the next 2-3 months via PFD.  Additionally, I have a judgement ($1,800), which is 6 years old reporting on both Trans/EQ. Thanks for the detailed info.  Don't apply for any more cards until the 3-4 baddies come off your report in the next 2-3 months.  Once those come off, you will see a rise in score which will make you be able to get some really good cards. For now, work on the baddies.  Congrats on the 2 CAP 1 approvals...

  • Pre-Qual'ed for Amex Gold and Gold Premier, but i want Platinum. Should i apply for Platinum?

What the title says.  The Amex pre qual site says im pre-qual'ed for Amex Gold and Gold Premier.  But i plan on doing quite a bit of traveling soon and based on that i would really prefer Platinum.  Should i try for Platinum anyway?  If i do apply for Platinum and get denied, will they do a second hard pull when i apply for Gold Premier?

  • Capital one Mailing cards, should i be worried?

So, myself and my 2 roommates had all applied to capital one cards on the same day (mine was actually 1 day earlier). and we all received the YOUR CARD HAS SHIPPED email at exactly 3:45am at the same time. The thing thats kinda weirding me out though? Only 1 came in for one of the roommate (he was approved for 2), got both shipped emails at the same time. His other one and mine, as well as my other roomates have not come in. Im just slightly worried that maybe they got jacked out of the mail. Anyone have this happen to them before?

  • What Credit Card should I Apply for? BofA or Citi

Hello guys I would like your advice, I received a pre approved offer letter from Bank of America, for the Americard something interesting on this offer is that it has 21 billing cycles at 0% APR for Balance Transfers, after that 12.99% APR, I also have a pre approved offer letter from Citibank, for the simplicity card, 21 months at 0% APR for balance transfers, 17.99% after. What Credit Card do you think I should pull the trigger ? At first glance the APR says everything and BofA would be the best, but I would like to get some extra info from you guys. I am a Citibank customer, I have my checking and savings account with them as well as a couple of CC, in contrast I would be a new BofA customer. What do you think would be the CL if I am approved on BofA and what do you think would be the CL if I am approved on Citibank?

I don't have experience with BT cards but just wanted to share about my personal experience with these two lenders  BofA: started out as a secured card $500 and CLI to $1,500 with HP then opened a BBR $500 auto CLI to $1,000Looking at current BT offers for these cards, there are no BT promos... They are only offering 3% BT fee and then the APR on the account (currently 15.99% for me)I haven't read around the forum about BofA allowing direct deposit into checking account and then paying off other lender's credit balances but I know Citi explicitly states they allow direct deposit (if this is a feature you would like to have) Citi: have the discontinued Dividend card $9,000 CL and double cash card $2,900 (no BT promos showing for DC because I'm still in my 0% period)I have had Dividend for a year and looking at current BT offers, there are two: one 3% BT fee and 4.99% until 7/2017 and another for 3% BT fee and 2.99% until 8/2017. Personally, I think Citi has better long-term BT offers. You mentioned you have CCs from Citi? Have you checked your current cards for BT offers?
In terms of limits, everyone is different but I think Citi gives higher limits without HPs for CLIs Great, thanks for sharing your experience, I had a look at my current BT offers in citibank and they are not that good the best deal is 18 months and 2.99% APR during that period of time.  I have the thank you CC 20k CL this one is my first and oldest CC, I applied for the diamond cc about 8 months ago I got only 7.6K CL so that's my fear with citi and get a little CL than the diamond, as for BofA I got no idea of the minimu I could expect, I have read the minimum is $500 which for me knowing that is not attractive to apply for it

  • Which card should i apply for?

Hi,I have about 6500 in credit card debt with no baddies. About 55% utilization. I am thinking about applying for a card to transfer my balance over @ 0%. Scores are 660,663,666. What do you guys recommend?

What do you guys recommend?Have you requested a CLI with the current card? Who is it with? What is the current APR? Have you contacted them to see if they would lower your APR (cap1 does this frequently) in the mean time?(Balance transfers take 7 days to a month!)  Request CLI on all other cards. What other cards do you have?  Your scores are good enough for Amex ...possibly. See if they prequal you for 0 for 15months. Doubt they would give you a limit higher than 5k. you could split it between two new cards? I would say 6500 is not quite enough for a consolidation loan. What do you fellow myficoers think? Worst case scenario, your credit takes a hit for opening a new account, the new limit will lower your total UTIL, so may see it go up, but when you do the BT it will swing back a bit, but overall you could be higher than lower with scores. Transfer it all to the new card, pay it down fast, and you may be surprised at the results.  Your inquiries are high now, so you could just be forced to app for cap1. Only the qs, qs1, venture1, and prestige will offer 0% interest. Leave capital one as a last resort because they wont care about adding 1 or 2 more inquiries...Venture1 will have the higher limit most likely so do that first.

thanks addict, any method to the madness there? Don't those Cap cards have an annual fee?Ventures have AF but you can downgrade to Venture1 before AF posts.  You can get 2 Cap1 cards (if approved) with only 1 HP/per CB...but you have to apply same day.mtg, did you mean upgrade?  So you don't have to pay teh fee when you get the card? No, i meant downgrade...if you get the venture which has AF, you can downgrade to Venture 1 non-AF.  Most people like me get the venture AF because you get 2x points, spend $3k and get 40k points...with Venture1, you only get 1.5 points, have to spend $1k and get 20k points.  It wll depend on how much you spend/month.ok,  you can tell I'm pretty new to the card biz, but talk like this really helps. I have only had my current cards for 2 months. No worries...how much do you spend per month on things/bills you can pay with a credit card?

  • Capital One Secured Cards

Hi all, it's been great reading up and learning so many things on this forum about getting your credit back into shape. My only wish was getting to this forum before making a couple of recent mistakes that I should have known better but you live and learn.  So currently I have 2 Capital One secured cards; one is a HSBC Orchard Bank card that transitioned once Cap One bought out their credit card portfolio. My current limit on the Cap One card is $700 (initial limit was $300 until I added $400 to increase the limit late last year) and $300 on the converted Orchard Bank card. The last time I had a late payment on both accounts was back in October of last year. Since then I've made my payments on time and always more than the minimum.  I know from reading in this forum these cards don't graduate and although Cap One offers the account combination link when I sign in, I think I saw someone state it doesn't work with secured cards. For the heck of it I did request a credit limit increase on both accounts and one letter I received stated that I can't initiate credit limit increases on secured cards and the other letter said one or more of my accounts was recently 60 days past due. I also spoke to a rep and asked how many Cap One cards I can have (including branded) I believe she said 5 but when I did the prequal and the Platinum came up I applied for it and then got a letter stating that I couldn't have more than 2 cards. For the Cap One veterans am I just stuck with these 2 cards with no hope of getting a larger credit line (I know there is a cap to it) or getting an unsecured card? I was figuring maybe if I closed out one of them then maybe I can reapply for an unsecured card? Thanks for your time.

That is a great question core; speaking for myself I would say it's just my inexperience. By no means do I want every Capital One card they have, I was just trying to figure out what to do with these two cards and maybe at least get one unsecured card from them.Keep going to the well, keep getting the same poisoned water.  That's what we say in Texas. I understand, it's kind of a security thing.  Well if I were you I'd bust out and apply for something _other_ than Capital One.  If a mortgage writer looks at your file and sees 3 Cap One accounts and nothing else, what's he going to think?  He might think you're mentally ill and decline the mortgage.  I think 3 Cap One accounts is grounds for state-funded looney farm in some states.  You want a "travel" card, there you go. I don't know anything about your credit profile, but if  you're still in the secured market you might want to check out this helpful list:  Get one that will unsecure and grow with you.  But really, FICO doesn't know about secured cards so it doesn't affect your score anyway.  It's a card like any other.  And some are SP.  I'll take one of those SPs anyday over a triple HP and raised eyebrows from the mortgage lender from having 3 Cap One accounts and nothing else.

  • Should I apply for mortgage to see where I'm at????

Hello, we are hoping to buy end of this year. We have been working on raising our credit score to get qualified. The builder we like in our town uses a preferred lender, we were thinking of applying now just to see if it's even possible to get a mortgage with them and/or any suggestions they may have to get qualified. The preferred lender is Pulte Mortgage. Will this hurt our credit score significantly? any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Using it primarily with VMWare Fusion for Virtual Drives. Windows, Unbuntu and other OS running really well.
HPT Support was responsive and very helpfull using the WEB Portal under the product page.
I have some comments and a suggestion:
Have you tried your setup with a SD/CF combo card reader (like the Lexar or Kingston FCR-H63)? Does the card appear on the desktop when first plugged in?
Did you need to fool around with any kind of power issues in installing this card in the x4 PCIe slot of the MacPro?
Suggestion. Have you tried one of the fixed in this article to cure the BT issues in MacPro 3,1?
    Good luck.

I have received a Capital One Platinum Mastercard back in August.
Tomorrow is my 5th statement being cut but I keep reading about steps increases every 6 months.
I never got a letter or email about being in the steps program.
If I'm not in steps what am I looking at for a possible CLI and when?
    Thanks in advanced.

  • Capitol one platinum approved, now trying to figure out my next steps Please advise

I also am new to this forum after many years of neglecting my credit I have made it a focus to rebuild my credit. I also have recently received my new Capitol one platinum card, and I am about to cut my first statement. I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum, as I finally feel like I have a grasp on my credits future. I have been using my 300 limit as a debit card and have made multiple payments this month, as I have cycled about 700 in charges and payments in the last 2 weeks. Additionally as well as called CO and got my cut date which happens to be today.
i made sure my balance was at 3% utilization, and plan on making my first statement payment this week. From what I see a lot of people are getting love with the CLI. My question is since this is my first credit card in a few years, should I hit the luv button early, or wait? Other than this card I have student loans and a new car loan that started back in January, all my account are in good standing for the last 2 years, despite the fact that I have 2 baddies and a civil judgement for a cafeteria school bill for my kids lunch program.
Another question I have is that I also before getting approved for the CO platinum, I got approved for the CO secured card with a deposit of 99. My question is should I complete the deposit on the CO secured card, or should I let it lapse and milk my CO platinum card for few months before trying for a CO quicksilver one card?
My current Ficos are EX 577, EQ 572 and TU 585. I am hoping once my new credit card reflects on my credit report that I will get a bump. My goal is 700's across the boards as soon as possible.
Thanks agin this forum and everyone in it has been a Answer to prayer.

IMHO you should (a) go ahead with the secured card, (b) use both cards but pay them down to zero over and over, and (c) go slowly on adding new cards. Inquiries and newly opened accounts are considered negatives, so sometimes the best 'building' you can do is do nothing but pay your bills fast.
