Capital One Venture Card approval proccess

So I helped my wife apply for the Cap One Venture card with the 40k bonus offer. The screen shot stated "You are approved"  you will receive your card in 7-10 days but  did not give any other info such as CL etc. When I applied for that same card I was immediately notified that I was approved and my liimit was 20k.  I contacted the 800 number and the recording said that the application was under review. I assume that is under review in regards to determining the initial CL and APR?  Any thoughts, experiences with applying for this card.

Congrats on both approvals!       In my wallet: Capital One (secured) 1917; Quicksilver 5000; Venture 15,000; Barclay Apple Rewards 2000; CareCredit 3300; Bank of America Platinum Visa 2000; Bank of America Travel Rewards 3500; Bank of America Travel Rewards 3500; Amazon Store Card 5000; Discover 10,000. Total Credit: 51,217.
6/19-FICO: EQ - 782; TU - 769; EX - 681; GOAL: 780 across the board. Gardening until further notice.

  • Capital One Secured Cards

Hi all, it's been great reading up and learning so many things on this forum about getting your credit back into shape. My only wish was getting to this forum before making a couple of recent mistakes that I should have known better but you live and learn.  So currently I have 2 Capital One secured cards; one is a HSBC Orchard Bank card that transitioned once Cap One bought out their credit card portfolio. My current limit on the Cap One card is $700 (initial limit was $300 until I added $400 to increase the limit late last year) and $300 on the converted Orchard Bank card. The last time I had a late payment on both accounts was back in October of last year. Since then I've made my payments on time and always more than the minimum.  I know from reading in this forum these cards don't graduate and although Cap One offers the account combination link when I sign in, I think I saw someone state it doesn't work with secured cards. For the heck of it I did request a credit limit increase on both accounts and one letter I received stated that I can't initiate credit limit increases on secured cards and the other letter said one or more of my accounts was recently 60 days past due. I also spoke to a rep and asked how many Cap One cards I can have (including branded) I believe she said 5 but when I did the prequal and the Platinum came up I applied for it and then got a letter stating that I couldn't have more than 2 cards. For the Cap One veterans am I just stuck with these 2 cards with no hope of getting a larger credit line (I know there is a cap to it) or getting an unsecured card? I was figuring maybe if I closed out one of them then maybe I can reapply for an unsecured card? Thanks for your time.

That is a great question core; speaking for myself I would say it's just my inexperience. By no means do I want every Capital One card they have, I was just trying to figure out what to do with these two cards and maybe at least get one unsecured card from them.Keep going to the well, keep getting the same poisoned water.  That's what we say in Texas. I understand, it's kind of a security thing.  Well if I were you I'd bust out and apply for something _other_ than Capital One.  If a mortgage writer looks at your file and sees 3 Cap One accounts and nothing else, what's he going to think?  He might think you're mentally ill and decline the mortgage.  I think 3 Cap One accounts is grounds for state-funded looney farm in some states.  You want a "travel" card, there you go. I don't know anything about your credit profile, but if  you're still in the secured market you might want to check out this helpful list:  Get one that will unsecure and grow with you.  But really, FICO doesn't know about secured cards so it doesn't affect your score anyway.  It's a card like any other.  And some are SP.  I'll take one of those SPs anyday over a triple HP and raised eyebrows from the mortgage lender from having 3 Cap One accounts and nothing else.

  • Capital One Venture Approval and Lowes Approval after verification

Capital One applied July 16th didn't get a decision until July 27 (that's when letter is dated, but I just found out today when it came in the mail). Originally asked me to fax documents, then said documents were too dark and needed to re fax, then EO wanted me to email documents, then I got a denial letter that I couldn't retrieve, reps said it was because they couldn't identify me, theeeeeeeennnnnnnn they said EO never sent them my IDs that I emailed. I have active military ID, drivers license and vet ID from my last deployment. Still weren't good enough. So I was resolved to accept the denial and close my accounts (have investments, and savings with them as well as QS One and secured card). I told EO department this through email. So needless to say, the letter I received today stated I had been approved for 10,000. I previously worked for Capital One and I know that if you have a certain amount of money with them they automatically can recon  your account if you ask but I didn't meet that threshold. However, I think they approved me to keep me as a customer. (come on, I used to work there, sent in two IDs, a SS card and randomly a birth certificate and you still deny me due to not being able to identify me lol) Just glad that's over. Bought some appliances for my mom and applied for lowes card. Was hoping to convince the rep to let me use military discount with 5% everyday. after having to call verification team (this again..) I was approved for SL of 2000. I will ask for higher CL tomorrow. So after much stress to prove i'm not jimmy joe from down the street, I did okay LOL.

ImaginaryFriend, I burned them in 2009 and they've approved three cards for me so far this year.

Thanks for everyones help and advise.  If I can help in any way, let me know.  I always read these forums and applied your notes.  On that note, do you think I should close out my Credit One account 1.7K, as well as my Citi and Capital One Bank account's with lower balances?  This should bring my average credit card limits above $10K on average.  I do not use those cards at all, and have no benefits. close creditone and make them send you a letter stating your account is PIF and has a 0 balance - best way to ensure no surprises. I actually called them back before 30 days to make sure no pop up balance came up so they wouldn't report a late charge.

  • Capital One: Denied CLI / Approved for $50K on New Card

I have two CapitalOne Cards that were open in early 2007 after my bankruptcy in August 2006. They were the first company to give me credit cards following the bankruptcy, the first one received a $3,500 limit and the second one received a $3,000 limit.
In 2013/2014, they upgraded me to their Quicksilver card so I could get cash back on my purchases. As my finances have drastically changes since then, I've attempted to request multiple limit increases, and I've kept getting denied because they say I don't use enough of my credit limit to justify a limit increases.
Then in December I just decided to apply for a CapitalOne Venture card for their 40,000 bonus miles, and was given a $50,000 credit limit.
Can someone explain how/why they won't increase my limit on a card with $3k limit, but will give me a new card with a $50,000 limit? I would rather have the limit on one of these older cards that's I've now had for 8 years.

  • Capital One Venture

So I got approved for a Venture One about 4 months ago for $5k and CLI to $7k at 3 months.I have been applying for a Venture Card for about the last 3 months and the Capital One system always auto denies it saying that I have a pending application already (like doesn't even process the application and does not pull credit)I had spoke with Executive office over a month ago and they offered to manual review the application but I declined and just tried to wait out 30 days and apply again because I feel like these computer approvals are better.Well finally about a week ago after applying again and after instantly declining (not processing) I called and asked it be manual reviewed.I just received a piece of mail that says:Cograts, you should receive your card in 5-7 days.Approved for $10,000!

Too late for me  My app with Venture was on 6/28/2015. Does this still mean I can get another card? I don't care about the pull since my inquiries are disgusting and I just want some prime cards.check pre-qual... if you get offer you can get another now... otherwise I would wait until your card is 30 days old.

  • Capital one venture restriction

just started using the card, figured id put my everyday expenses on it gas grocerices pharmacy and today when i checked my accouts just to see what my tab was i noticed i had a account restriction on the new acct, i immediatly called in they verified my home phone, had me hang up and call back and verify my purchases, the whole process took maybe 5 min. and the restriction was immediatly lifted. whew!!! im imagining what if i was doing other things like on vacation major embarassing

Yeah, CAP 1 has been doing that for a while.  They do it mostly when your charge declines in the store also.  I was on edge once in a long line and the card decline at check out. When I called, they thought it was fraud and I had to hang up for them to call me back.Wow... this is surprising to hear.  In my case Capital One has never even flinched, even when they have the right to.  I've shopped at a grocery store at 2AM at a store hundreds of miles away from my billing address, and I actually expected to have to call them but it worked - just like it always does. I also recently made my an international purchase over the internet for the first time with my Capital One card; I chatted with them to let them know I was about to make the purchase, and the CSR acted confused as to why I was even bringing it up.  The int'l charge was approved, and I've used my card for small overseas purchases several times since then, all without calling and each time it's been approved. USAA, on the other hand... is a different story.  I really, really like them, but for better or worse, their security is a bit more tight.  Actually, my Capital One card is my go-to if there is ever an issue with my USAA account, since I'm usually not in the mood to call the bank when I'm at the register if I have another card I know will work.

  • Capital one Mailing cards, should i be worried?

So, myself and my 2 roommates had all applied to capital one cards on the same day (mine was actually 1 day earlier). and we all received the YOUR CARD HAS SHIPPED email at exactly 3:45am at the same time. The thing thats kinda weirding me out though? Only 1 came in for one of the roommate (he was approved for 2), got both shipped emails at the same time. His other one and mine, as well as my other roomates have not come in. Im just slightly worried that maybe they got jacked out of the mail. Anyone have this happen to them before?

  • Capital One Secured Card Changing

I just had a long conversation with a Capital One CSR. I originally called to ask about the Credit Steps program on my new QS1 ($1k CL) and then asked about my existing Secured card ($99 dep for $300 Dec'14 -> $200 deposit -> $500 deposit -> $300 CLI = $1,300 CL). Anyway, he told me that the Secured Card is going to be changing in the next couple of months. You will no longer be able to make deposits to increase your CL. Capital One will be determining CL's and increasing them where they see fit. This is important to those who are gradually increasing their limits. I have no plans to increase mine any more now that I was approved for the QS1. After 5 on-time payments, he said they will be increasing that by $500 (though I've heard people are getting larger CLIs). Once I am able to convert from QS1 to QS, I will probably close my Secured.

You might want to hold off on that. I read that C1 will be able to combine limits, so you might be able to transfer the unsecured portion of your secured card to your other C1 card.

  • Capital One Venture shutting down rewards transfers - temporarily?

I just received this email from Capital One stating how rewards transfers will not be allowed after September 15. They say temporarily but I think that is unlikely. My wife and I both have cards and we consistently combine the points for bigger purchases. Transfers are the only reason we use the Venture over the Arrival+ which offers the 10% redemption bonus as otherwise they are basically identical. I guess the Arrival+ has just made it to 1st place on our everyday spending card list.  "Recently, we’ve been working to provide you with even better ways to manage and redeem your rewards. As we update our program, we’ll be making changes to some redemption features you may have used in the past. As of September 15, 2015, the following redemption options and features will change:If you gave someone else permission to redeem rewards on your behalf, they will no longer be able to do so as of September 15, 2015. You’ll need to redeem your own rewards after that time. The ability to transfer rewards from one Capital One® account to another will be unavailable; however, we know this feature is important to our customers and will be working to bring it back at a later date.Remember, if you’d like to use the above features, please do so before September 15, 2015. We look forward to improving your rewards experience in the future!"

There are apparently some changes to the rewards structure of the Barclay Arrival Plus card that are not so good. They're bringing down the 10% bonus travel rebate earning  to 5% starting sometime late 2015-2016 (depending on when you first applied and received the card). They're also increasing the minimum redemption amount from 2500 to 10K miles, which is a bit of a bummer. Things are definitely changing for this card - you can't even apply for one anymore (for the time being, that is).

  • Capital one credit cards ....

How many Capital One cards can I have at once? Currently I have a secured card and a quicksilver card. I qualify for a platinum one too. I want to have atleast 5 total cards before I garden for a while. Thanks

    jace8602 wrote:
Some say that up to 5, personally I have 3. I would advise that you garden now for at least 6 months. Let the accounts age and your score go up before applying for anything else.+1 Even though you're prequalified now, if you garden for a bit you'll most likely get a better APR and possibly a better SL as well.

  • Capital One 3+ Cards Average Credit

Just a data point for those who may be interested.  Have had a Quicksilver One and a secured MC for about 4 months.  I have been hitting the pre-qual site monthly and no joy for what I wanted (Venture), though another QS1 and their regular "plat" always came up on the pre-qual.  Applied for the VentureOne tonight anyway, and no joy, but quickly applied for the $0 AF Platinum and was approved for $1000. So that is 3 "average" credit cards from CP1, even though their terms do say only 2 allowed. I promptly closed my secured account (hello $100 back!).

They consider the Visa QS "prime".  I had (at the time of my application) a secured MC, and a QS1 MC (which they consider both to be sub-prime/average credit).  On their terms they say you can't have 2 or more accounts for a platinum, but I was approved anyway, so their "terms' might not be as hard and fast as they say. I did close my secured within the hour of getting the platinum, so maybe they would have recinded the approval if I hadn't but .... I'm not ... thrilled ... about having multiple CC accounts with the same bank (I think it is wise to diversify) but ... the fact that I am getting unsecured CC's with decent limits hopefully means I am on the right track.
