Capture Design Forms in Designer 6i problem

I install Oracle 8.1.6 release 2 for Windows NT, I also install
Designer 6i.
Everything work well except when I try to capture design of form
(Generate -> Capture Design of -> Form...) I get the following error:
"CDD-23564: The file "XX:\ORANT\BIN\cfr61.dll" could not be loaded or
doeas not exist."
"The specified file or one its dependent files could not be loaded.
This may be because a file has not been installed, or is not
correctly defined in the system registry.
As an example dependency, the Forms Generator files require the
Form Builder files installed as part of Developer."
and action:
"Check the registry settings for the location of the required
file. Also check the product and any required dependencies
e.g.Developer have been installed correctly.
If necessary, try reinstalling."
I check the folder and the file is there. I re-installes alrready the designer and the error still there.

change: Installed Oracle Designer Release 4.1 over some previous version of Designer and Developer
cause: Some files have been overwritten during installaiton
fix:
Re-install Oracle Developer patchset 7.
Correct installation order is:
1. Install Oracle Developer first
2. Install Oracle Designer second
3. Install Oracle Developer patchset 7 at the last

Although you eventually want to use JHeadstart, reverse engineering forms to Designer is not an issue within the scope of this forum.

Capture design from an ERWin diagram using DDL

Hi,
I am trying to follow the advise given by Antony Hall in this forum (posted June 16/2004) to capture an ERWin ERD into Designer. Antony recommends to generate the DDL in ERWin (which I did) then open Designer Editor in Designer, go to Generate --> Capture Design and choose 'Server Model' from the list.
Then as the Source of Design Capture choose 'DDL files' and browse for the file. Before this I also created the Application System to hold the Server Model that I am going to create.
All goes fine except that the 'start' button to begin the process in the 'Capture Server Model from Database' window is grayed out, so I'm stuck.
Any help to solve this problem will be much appreciated.

1. the Target Container has to have your application in it.
2. Capture Implimentations into - needs to have the Database from the designer selected into it.
3. Datbase user - needs to have a database user in it.

Associations lost after Capture Design of table definition

Hi,
We use Designer 6i, with versioning on.
We have a table definition T and a view definition V that uses the table definition T. In other words, there is an association in Designer between T and V.
When we Capture Design the table T from a database, the association between T and V is lost.
Is there a possibility to get a warning message in the Capture Design process that the association will be lost?
Is it possible to use a preference concerning Capture Design for this?

Sorry, I didn't describe the problem properly.
I want to Capture Design a table, and not to Capture Design a view.
The issue in Design Editor (DE) is as follows:
(1) Capture Design a table T_CAPDES from the database.
(2) Create a fixed format view definition V_CAPDES in DE, based on columns of the table definition T_CAPDES.
(3) Create in the RON a reference from the view V_CAPDES to the table T_CAPDES, in the node 'Base Tables'.
(4) Modify the table T_CAPDES in the database, e.g. add a column, drop a column or change the datatype of a column.
(5) When you Capture Design the table T_CAPDES, the user receives the following information in the Message Window:
"CDS-15334 Warning: The Table T_CAPDES already exists in the Repository. NOMERGE_AND_SAC Rule selected => the captured property values will not replace the existing property values in the repository..."
The modifications in the table T_CAPDES are not visible in DE: Capture Design has not been executed for this table.
Probably this warning will be generated because of some Capture Design preferences.
A workaround is, to delete the table definition T_CAPDES in Designer and to Capture Design this table again from the database. But a major disadvantage of this workaround is, that the reference from the view definition V_CAPDES will be lost.
Bottom line: I need some more information about the Capture Design preferences in Designer?

Report design Grouping problem

I'm currently designing a report, something like an invoice. The invoice number is usually on the page header. But now i want to create a report to list down all the invoice numbers in the 'details' but when i drag the 'invoice number' data to 'details'
it only show 1 row of numbers, wheareas the data has few rows of it. How can i make it view all my numbers?

More design mode problems

I've been down this road before but now it's getting just crazy. I can't get work done if I want to create a simple layout. I've created new workspaces, cleaned, everything I can think of including taking out any third-party components that might possibly be compiled in non 4.5.1 (though they supposedly have).
I try to create a simple MXML component. If it's based on anything visual (e.g., panel) or if I start with a group and then drag in a panel, I just get the little computer icon with red x on it in design mode with the following errors in the Design Mode Problem panel. I mean, this is just a new, empty component.
Assets failed to compile.
Design Mode is unable to display the document styles, skins, and images because the following assets have failed to compile:Details
:Unable to resolve resource bundle "components".( - Line:-1)
Unable to resolve resource bundle "skins".( - Line:-1)
Unable to resolve resource bundle "core".( - Line:-1)
Unable to resolve resource bundle "core".( - Line:-1)

I thought I had it by deleting a namespace reference; things started to render and all was good for a couple minutes. Then it reverted to the same problem so I'm open to other suggestions.

Design View - problems, but does it matter?

I've got a page that consists of three columns - each floated
left, each with nested divs (the nested divs are fixed width).
In design view, everything was fine with this structure - as
was preview in browser, and the page validates with DWCS3's
checker. But adding content to the first of the columns (within a
nested div) made the next two columns drop below the first in
design view - although DWCS3 validation and previewing is still
fine.
Through judicious deleting etc., I've found that it was a
floated element in a nested div within the first column, that
caused the subsequent elements to drop below the first column.
So my main question is - should I be worried by the design
view problems, or is It just an inconvenience?
(And if there's any other obvious problems I'm inviting by
structuring the page this way, please feel free to (gently) point
it out...!).

Capture Design Questions

Hi.
I need to generate the model of the data base and I have some doubts.
1. Is necessary to create Oracle data base in the repository?
2. The option "Capture Design of" only can capture Oracle objets(tables, precedures...). Can't capture it?.
4. When I use the option "Capture Design of". I show this messages in the Message Window.

I don't know if on of these is a solution, but did you try to let it go for let's say 1 hour ?
Since the activity is initiated on the client and performed at the server, windows is waiting for a reply from the server that the action has finished. If this reply does not come within a couple of minutes, Windows automatically signals that the program is not responding. This does not mean that the server is not doing anything! When capturing designs of the server models, a lot of records have to be inserted into the repository tables and a lot of validations have to be done. This all takes time, especially when the designer database is a small one.
So, be patient. Let it go for say 30 minutes up to 1 hour. If the action still hasn't finished, try to figure out if the proces is still alive in the database and that it is doing something. There are several tools for this. Ask your DBA or use TOAD for it.

SWC Load Error - Design Mode Problem

Hi,
I'm loading custom .swcs into my Flash Builder (4.5 Burrito) project and I get these errors. These will only appear in design mode (not in source mode) and will not be labelled under the Problems tab, rather the Design Mode Problems tab:
SWC Load Error
SWC file failed to load. Any component dependent on this SWC file will not be displayed in the Design Mode.
The SWC may have failed to load because of:
* Incompatible definitions caused by usage of a different SDK version
* Missing referred class definitions
I don't think this problem is caused by an SDK incompatibility, as all these swcs have been created under flex 4 and I'm pretty sure under the 4.5 SDK.
Loading the components contained in these swcs onto my canvas (at design time) will work fine. I'm able to build and run the application without any errors caught by flash builder.
Any idea how to fix this problem, or what it means?

SWC Load error indicates that the swc used does not match with the definitions present in design view or with what is present in already loaded other lirbaries. The issue is reported by the flash loader. It looks like that, your swc is compiled with a previous version of the sdk and the design view and the related definition correpsonds to another version.
The incompatability logic is not in DV. When DV tries to load all the swc details available in the project, the loading fails as the loader reports the issue. There is hardly anything, we can do here from DV. If the player reports the incompatability issue, the loader is corrupted and all further loading is ignored. So to avoid such issue, DV ignores the failed swc's and tries to proceed.
If you pass me the swc , I can give the details of the incompatability. Ideally between 4.5 and 4.5.1 there should not have been any incompatability. However your case shows there is. You can contact me at [email protected]

XI needs to capture the form back in the mail adapter

Hi Experts,
I am working on a scenario where , data needs to be sent from SAP and in XI , a form sort of( like a web form or pdf form) needs to be created. This form needs to be emailed ( using the mail adapter ) to an outside entity. They will fill out the form and email it back. XI needs to capture the form back in the mail adapter translate it and put the data back into sap.
Can some one help me out with this ?

Forms/Designer 10g - problem with attached libraries

I've problem with forms with attached libraries. All of libraries have removed paths. I can run all forms without any problem on my local application server from Forms Builder 9i or Designer 9i. I added all paths in registry FORMS90_PATH. WORKINGDIRECTORY in formsweb.cfg is blank.
Unfortunately I can't do it with Developer 10g on second workstation. I added all paths in registry FORMS_PATH. WORKINGDIRECTORY in formsweb.cfg is blank too. When form is running I get ORA-06508. I can't store all files (fmb, fmx, pll, plx etc.) in one folder because I've to use CVS. In this case I can't set any folder in WORKINGDIRECTORY.

Assuming Forms 10.1.2.x, FMX, MMX, PLX, and OLB files are found based on the value of FORMS_PATH which is set in default.env and not the Registry. This applies to runtime only. The Builder uses the Registry.
Understand that "runtime" refers to any time a form is displayed in a browser, regardless of whether is was started from the Builder or Application Server.
Also, be aware that if you have FMX, MMX, or PLX files which were created in older versions they must be recompiled using the 10.1.2 compiler.
