Case sensitivity in using OPEN_FORM, CALL_FORM on web deployed forms

Just A Quick Note,
Make sure the case of the form name when using CALL_FORM, OPEN_FORM is the same as the case of the filename on the UNIX box.
We spent quite a bit of time trying to find out why our CALL_FORM and OPEN_FORM command were giving the following error:
FRM-40010 Cannot read form "XXXXXX"
It turns out that we were using all caps in the OPEN_FORM build-in, but the filename was in lower case.

New form opens up in back of Menu Form in Web Deployed Form

Hi,
I am having trouble with my web-deployed form. I have one form that has toolbars and after selecting from the menu for another form to open up, the new form opens up in back of the previous form and I'd have to minimize the previous form in order for new form to be active. Is there any way that I can have the new form open up above the previous form? Also, do you know any good sites where I can get tips on web-deployed forms.

what code are you using to open new forms (call_form, open_form, new_form).
I have a similar application (custom login module and custom menu), and I run my modules from the menu using
call_form(<module_name>,HIDE,DO_REPLACE);
This hides the custom login module and displays the called module.

Executing a shell script from a web deployed form

Hi there,
i've got a web deployed form from which i want to execute a UNIX shell script upon clicking a button.. I've used the host command ,and the rsh utility in Windows NT but i'm getting an error message saying
"machine address" Permission denied, rsh can't establish connection " this is the code in the when button pressed trigger
HOST('c:\windows\system32\rsh <<machine address>> opt/apps/wmc/rw.ksh');
the machine address being the unix machine i'm trying to connect to and the last part being the path and the shell script to be executed..
can anybody help me out here ????

Launching Browser Window from Web Deployed Forms App.

Has anyone launched a new browser instance on the client within a web deployed forms application? We have browser based help within our application. In the client/server version, we used the built-in HOST command to launch the browser when the help button is clicked. However, this does not work in a web deployed situation. First, because we are deploying the application on a Solaris box, and it does not recognize the host command, and second even if we could it would launch the browser on the server. Can I do something with java or javascript?

Why don't you use the web.show_document(url, '_blank') built-in?

Do web deployed forms support insert/replace modes

We are currently using Oracle Forms 10g. In older versions of forms the Insert key could be used to toggle between Insert and Replace modes when entering data in a field. Is this functionality supported in Web deployed forms?

Case Sensitivity problems using OAS

I developed a small application in JDeveloper
& deployed that application ( or alternatively I have a small application HelloWorld )
When I tried to execute the application on Oracle Web application Server using JWeb Cartridge it seems that while giving the URL
it needs the exact name & case. If I give like test/java/HelloWorld it will execute
But If I will give like test/java/helloworld
it doesn't respond.
Is this a case sensitivity problem or what ?

This looks like a networking issue. You may want to start with the basics like telnet using port 12503. Netstat may be helpful as well. You can turn up the logging level to finest and obtain more detailed information to post here. Below find a logging and debugging URL (for 9i but still relevant).

Calling a report from a form on web deployed forms application

OS: AIX: Developer 6i, patch 3
I have a form that calls a report. The report works fine on
client server. But on the web, using reports server, I get
"FRM-41214: Unable to run report".

Online Help in Web Deployed Forms App

In a Designer generated Forms app deployed across intranet via Forms Server, what options do I have for an online help system? Is Designer's ability to generate MS Help files useful outside client/server environment? Thanks in advance.

I'd also consider checking a test case with Oracle Support to confirm its the same issue as well.

File exists on client? from web deployed forms

Any ideas on the quickest and sleekest way to identify whether or not a file at a known location actually exists on client?
My first thought is to deconstruct some part of the fileupload java stuff.
Any other ideas?

I added a method to getclientinfo.java - very simple - here it is

Run web deployed Forms through Linux clients?

I thought migrating from Forms6i to Forms10g
would make it possible that users can use
Webforms on Linux Clients in https-mode.
Am i wrong?

you are right in saying "would make possible". The Linux certification is ongoing and we expect something for within a Patchset of Forms10g. HTTPS then should not be the problem.

Nautilus case sensitive ordering

Hi,
Just wondering if it's possible to make nautilus order files without case sensitivity when they're sorted by name.
I've tried a few searches but turned up nothing, except that the gnome documentation says it isn't case sensitive (here)
There's nothing in gconf either, as far as I can see.
If I recall correctly, it wasn't case sensitive when using nautilus in other distros...
Sorry if this has come up before, but I couldn't find anything in the forums.

Sorry to dig this out, but I have the same problem here. Maybe it has something to do with a Locale setting?
EDIT: Indeed, changing the Locale did fix the problem. Add this to your ~/.bashrc
export LC_COLLATE="en_US.utf8"
Note: Now most programs will sort files insensitive including the "ls" command.

Still need help with case sensitive strings

Hello guy! Sorry to trouble you with the same problem again,
but i still need help!
"I am trying to create a scrypt that will compare a String
with an editable text that the user should type to match that

If you put each item that you are comparing into a list, it
magically
makes it case sensitive. Just put list brackets around each
item.

The = operator is not case-sensitive when used on strings,
but the < and > operators are case-sensitive.
So another way to do this is to check if the string is
neither greater than nor less than the target string:

if vExpected < vInput then
-- ignore
else if vExpected > vInput then
-- ignore
else
-- vExpected is a case-sensitive match for vInput
go next
end if

The first solution does in fact work and is probably the most
efficient way
of doing it. You can verify that it works by starting with a
new director
movie and adding a field named "t:texto1" into the cast with
the text
"Residencial Serra Verde" in the field. Next type the
following command in
the message window and press Enter
put [field "t:texto1"] = ["Residencial Serra Verde"]
You will see it return 1 which means True. Next, make the R
in the field
lower case and execute the command in the message window, it
will return 0
(true).
Now that you know this works, you need to dig deeper in your
code to find
what the problem is. Any more info you can supply?

Who can use Web Service Forms??

Just wondering, where do I find the specs for who can submit my Web Service forms. So far Reader 7 and Acrobat Standard 6 cannot use my Designer 7 web service forms (even after saving as Acrobat6 compatible static forms)
My forms are not dynamic, the formaatting and layout do not change only the fields, so I am assuming my forms are static.

Yes, that's the opinion of many people. Unfortunately, many large businesses are still willing to pay for that functionality, so its unlikley that all the RE functionality will be built into future versions of Acrobat. However, Acrobat 7 does have some Reader Extensions in it - you can enable people to comment and review on documents using the free Reader tool, and Acrobat 8 expands on this by allowing Reader users to save form data locally (something that was available only in Reader Extensions).

There are many functions that Reader Extensions provides - allowing Reader users to access a web service is one of them, as is allowing Reader users to comment and review, as is allowing Reader users to save form data locally. The upcoming release of Acrobat 8 does not provide the ability to Reader enable a form to access a web service, but it does provide the ability for Reader users to comment and review and save form data locally.
I hope this helps. I'll pass along this information to the Designer Product Manager as feedback.

Trouble with running form on web through form builder

Can anyone help me? I have research every document, talked with metalink and have checked everything. I cannot find the problem.
While running form on web through form builder, receive error FRM-92100 Connection to server was interrupted. I have checked details and receive java exception java.lang.ArrayIndexOutofBoundsException:256. Not sure this means anything but adding it just in case.
I am running Forms 6i, version 6.0.8.20.1 Loaded forms from CD which did not include the WEBDB listener, so loaded listener seperately. Loaded database version 8.1.7 with apache server.
Information in my httpd.conf file shows servername myserver.domain, port 80 and listen 80.
Information in my formsweb.cgf file shows serverport 9000 connectmode:socket
What else should I check? What is set wrong? All services up and running.
Can anyone help?

try the following
from the orant/bin directory type the following
ifweb60 <modulename> <userid>
make sure that the Forms module to start is in the Forms60_Path and can be found.
If all works well then this should start teh Appletviewer showing the Forms you request
to run.
Hope that I am not misunderstanding you and you are looking for starting Forms from the Forms developer by clicking on the preview button in the toolbar. If you are looking for Web deploying Forms applications, requesting it from a Browser, then the configuration is different.
