The Same query is Working in TOAD...................

Forms 6i's PL/SQL engine doesn't support CASE, you need to use DECODE.
Latest versions of Forms support CASE.

It is ok but i dont have to use view there.
i need to use without view, because this code has to be use in FORMS6i.
But Forms6i doesn't support to case function. i'm newbie in Forms.
If you can convert to below bold one portion(case) into decode then please help me or

Case statement not working in rpd

Hi Gurus,
I am giving case statement for the exchange rate column#1 from original exchange rate column , the data of column is like
0.0
0.0
0.1
0.2
1.2
1.3
1.4
so here i dont want 0.0 instead of that i want 1.0 so whenever in next derived column i will calculate it would be this derived exchange rate#1 * inv amt = desired amt
for the same I used different diff. case statement but still 0.0 is not going , I am giving like

Once again, could you write all information, like I described here my example.
When tried the same it works.
TABLE.COLUMN1 is from dimension.
TABLE.COLUMN1 is DOUBLE in the physical layer (in Oracle it is NUMBER(8,2)) and view/data gives:

MDX simple case statement not working?

hi all - any idea what is wrong with this MDX statement? it is returning blank. I am trying to add a calculated measure using the below code but it is not working. thanks for the help.

If you are checking for the 'Cash' member of the Account Name hierarchy, do you need to do something like this?

MDX Case Statement not working

Hi have written the following MDX statement to create a new column calledl 'Aon Group' and group the Policy Broker Names into 2 values, either 'Aon' or 'All Other':

CLOB with case statement not working getting error

Can anyone help on this
I write this sql

Where PROPERTY column is clob column and its giving the error "ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CLOB"
Is it not possible to use clob columns with case or decode !

Its working but it does not fulfill my purpose
In you answer it is looking for position right! means, does the column contain the value('Intradesk=Y' ) or not. means
I am looking for exact match with CLOB column values, that is Clob column(PROPERTY) contains the exact value that value which I am comparing with i.e 'Intradesk=Y'

Inset statement not working in forms 6i

Hi Am trying to insert values in database table through forms 6 by using the insert statement but no values are being stored in the table. Please help. The below is the insert statement am using
forms_ddl('insert into help values ('||:text1||','||:text2||')');
Please let me know the what is wrong with the code pasted above..and the values are not being inserted in the database table.

Why do you use FORMS_DDL? there is no need for dynamic sql, simply write the insert-statement in your code, like
insert into help values (:text1,:text2);btw.. It good practice to include the column-names inside the insert, like
insert into help (col1, col2) values (:text1,:text2);

Case statement not working as expected

I get this error having the group by clause: ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression
I get this error with out it: ORA-00937: not a single-group group function
If I add sp.PUBLISHER_ID to the group by, my data comes out on separate lines like this:

The case when statement is struggling with how i have created the column mailaddress. As it does seem to understand when it is null. In the example I have got there is no value in any of the columns to create
the mailaddress. Hence why I am referencing it from elsewhere. Due to having a way on the system where it picks up data from 2 different places. The mailaddress is always correct if there is one, hence why
trying to reference that one first. So how do i change this case when statement to work ?

Count Distinct Wtih CASE Statement - Does not follow aggregation path

All,
I have a fact table, a day aggregate and a month aggregate. I have a time hierarchy and the month aggregate is set to the month level, the day aggregate is set to the day level within the time hierarchy.
When using any measures and a field from my time dimension .. the appropriate aggregate is chosen, ie month & activity count .. month aggregate is used. Day & activity count .. day aggregate is used.
However - when I use the count distinct aggregate rule .. the request always uses the lowest common denominator. The way I have found to get this to work is to use a logical table source override in the aggregation tab. Once I do this .. it does use the aggregates correctly.
A few questions
1. Is this the correct way to use aggregate navigation for the count distinct aggregation rule (using the source override option)? If yes, why is this necessary for count distinct .. what is special about it?
2. The main problem I have now is that I need to create a simple count measure that has a CASE statement in it. The only way I see to do this is to select the Based on Dimensions checkbox which then allows me to add a CASE statement into my count distinct clause. But now the aggregation issue comes back into play and I can't do the logical table source override when the based on dimensions checkbox is checked .. so I am now stuck .. any help is appreciated.

Ok - I found a workaround (and maybe the preferred solution for my particular issue), which is - Using a CASE Statement with a COUNT DISTINCT aggregation and still havine AGGREGATE AWARENESS
To get all three of the requirements above to work I had to do the following:
- Create the COUNT DISTINCT as normal (counting on a USERID physically mapped column in my case)
- Now I need to map my fact and aggregates to this column. This is where I got the case statement to work. Instead of trying to put the case statement inside of the Aggregate definition by using the checkbox 'Base on Dimension' (which didnt allow for aggregate awareness for some reason) .. I instead specified the case statement in the Column Mapping section of the Fact and Aggregate tables.
- Once all the LTS's (facts and aggregates) are mapped .. you still have to define the Logical Table Source overrides in the aggregate tab of the count distinct definition. Add in all the fact and aggregates.
Now the measure will use my month aggregate when i specify month, the day aggregate when i specify day, etc..
If you are just trying to use a Count Distinct (no CASE satement needed) with Aggregate Awareness, you just need to use the Logical Table Source override on the aggregate tab.
There is still a funky issue when using the COUNT aggregate type. As long as you dont map multiple logical table sources to the COUNT column it works fine and as expected. But, if you try to add in multiple sources and aggregate awareness it randomly starts SUMMING everything .. very weird. The blog in this thread says to check the 'Based on Dimension' checkbox to fix the problem but that did not work for me. Still not sure what to do on this one .. but its not currently causing me a problem so I will ignore for now ;)

What is the syntax for a CASE statement in Crystal XI

I'm having difficulty locating documentation for the use of CASE statements in Crystal syntax. My database administrator does not allow me to write SQL expressions so I need to covert the SQL below to Crystal Syntax. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much!!

Let's assume column XYZ has both numbers (1), and letters (any alphabet).
I have a case statement on SQL to turn any value that's not 1 into 0, then I am getting a sum of that column.
I am also grouping by Row A, B etc to get aggregated sum of column XYZ for those group.
Now on Crystal Reports function, I need to sum up values under column XYZ for all the groups.
If I try using sum function like below, I get an error stating:
"A number field or currency amount field is required here"
(sum({Command.XYZ}))
So I thought if I can use a case statement to change the non-numbers to 0 prior to sum that will probably resolve it. But I could not get the below case statement to work either (Error: A string is required).

CASE is an expression, not a statement. It means you can not execute code. You need to change your code to IF statements, e.g.
IF @WAREHOUSE_ID = 'AAA'
UPDATE ....
IF
UPDATE ...
Also, what is the purpose of using cursor? Can you provide the whole picture of what you're trying to achieve?
