Catalog functions and wildcards

I'm having a problem with Oracle ODBC drivers version 8.1.7.3 and newer including the 9i drivers.
Specifically I'm calling the SQLTables catalog function and passing CD_AIRE% for the table name and getting O rows returned. There is a table named CD_AIRE0 in the database. I do get one row if I specify CD_AIRE0 for the tablename. The wildcard code worked correctly and returned one row with the 8.1.7.2 driver. The wild card issue may apply to other catalog functions as well.
Is this the way you'd expect it to operate? If not, is a fix planned?

More Info:
Using ODBC Test and simulating an ODBC 2.x application (because that's what I have to work with, I didn't write the app.) I can simulate the problem. The slightly reformatted output is included below. As you can see if I call SQLTables on the full name CD_AIRE0 it find the table. If however it is CD_AIRE% it does not find it. With the earlier driver mentioned in the previous message it found the table in both cases.

Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels.  Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer.  I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation.  I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC.  I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots.  Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes.  Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond.   In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces  (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images.  After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size  images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data.  (I have a screen shot to show this.)  CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong.  I could also send screen shots of this data.
At this point, the only way I can process my images is to work 30-40 minutes and then shut down everything, exit, and re-start LTR.  This is not normal.  I hope you can find the cause, and then the solution.  If you would like to see my screen shots, tell me how to submit them.

  • SQL Command - Paramater and wildcard

    Post Author: edy80y
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi All,
I have successfully dumped an SQL into a 'Add Command' function and it returns the data exactly how i want it.  But now i want to add a parameter so that i dont have to manually update the date which is referenced 8 times.
The TIME_KEY field is in this format YYYYMMDDHHMMWST (for 20/12/2007 2:30PM) = 200712201430WST
I have used LIKE '20071220%' so it returns all rows within that one date.
Now, i created a string parameter {?date) so i can enter '20071220' and i want to attach the wildcard (%) to the parameter.
If i do any of the following it doesn't work:
    LIKE {?date} + '%'
    LIKE {?date} || '%'
    LIKE {?date} & '%'
    Here is the code:
    SELECT    "T1"."OBJECT_ID", "T1"."TIME_KEY",                          (SELECT     SUM("N_ANSWERED") AS "ANSWERED_ROLLING"                            FROM      "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"             WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'),                           (SELECT     SUM("N_ABANDONED_RING") AS "ABANDONED_RING_ROLLING"                            FROM          "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"                            WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'),                           (SELECT     SUM("N_ABANDONED_QUEUE") AS "ABANDONED_QUEUE_ROLLING"                            FROM          "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"                            WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'),                           (SELECT     SUM("N_ENTERED") AS "ENTERED_ROLLING"                            FROM          "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"                            WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'),                           (SELECT     SUM("N_ABANDONED_SHORT") AS "ABANDONED_SHORT_ROLLING"                            FROM          "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"                            WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'),                           (SELECT     SUM("N_ANS_IN_THRESH") AS "ANS_IN_THRESH_ROLLING"                            FROM          "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"                            WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'),                           (SELECT     SUM("N_ABANDONED") AS "ABANDONED_ROLLING"                            FROM          "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T2"                            WHERE      "T1"."OBJECT_ID" = "T2"."OBJECT_ID" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" <= "T1"."TIME_KEY" AND "T2"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%')FROM        "GENESYSIINET"."R_WFM_GRO_Q_NO_AGG" "T1"WHERE  "T1"."TIME_KEY" LIKE '20071220%'GROUP BY "T1"."OBJECT_ID", "T1"."TIME_KEY"ORDER BY "T1"."OBJECT_ID", "T1"."TIME_KEY"

putting the parameter within a single quote is incorrect if it is a string as it will look for a litteral reference to {?date} instead of the valueLIKE {?date} || '%'that should work np as you are con catting a string to another string with 0 to infinite number of characters followingwhat db are you using?

  • [solved] three questions regardings functions and aliases in .bashrc

    Hi everyone,
i've been adding some useful functions and aliases i found at these forums to my .bashrc.
However, i have some problems with shell scripting i hope someone more knowledgable here can help me out with:
    1)
I've found a useful function here at the forum that detaches an application from the terminal and redirects the output to /dev/null.
The problem is, sudo doesn't recognize it.
    One example:
    alias sm="nh sudo medit" works.
alias sm="sudo nh medit" gives me nh: command not found
Can i make sudo recognize functions in my .bashrc?
    2)
I use the alias f="find | grep" which works very nice for me however it only searches the current working directory.
What i want to achieve is an alias or function that let's me specify the path "find" will look in so i can write: f path file.
Among others I've tried alias fs="{ find $1 -iname '*'$2'*'; }" and similar aliases and functions but either find  or grep (if used) are always complaining about something.
    3)
This is actually quite similar to 2).
I've added shopt -s extglob to my .bashrc which allows me to exclude files from removal via rm !(file).
So now i can type rm !(g*) and everything in the current directory except files starting with g get deleted.
This is great but since I'm very lazy i want to wrap it in an alias so i can type the following with wildcard support just like above:
    rme file1 file2 file3
I hoped alias rme="rm !($1) ($2) ($3)" would do the trick here but i guess i suck at shell scripting.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your help.

    Regarding issue 1)
    17:22 ~ > type nh
    nh is a function
    nh ()
    nohup "$@" &>/dev/null &
Could you explicate what you mean by adding nh to the path? I have a PATH variable defined for my own scripts and i actually thought of adding .bashrc somehow to it, but i don't really know how. I guess i would have to export the function into a file and add that directory containing that file to my PATH=$PATH:..."?
If switching to zsh would fix issue 1 i'd consider it. But wouldn't i have to rewrite most of my .bashrc? Because that'd probably be alot of work.
    Regarding issue 2)
Thanks, I'm using functions for finding files / content now and it works splendid.
    f () { find -iname $1 2>/dev/null; }
    fc ()
    { # find | grep
    if [ $# -eq 0 ]; then
echo "findcontent: No arguments entered."; return 1
    else
    # "{.[a-zA-Z],}*" instead of "." makes the output cleaner
    find {.[a-zA-Z],}* -type f 2>/dev/null | xargs grep --color=auto -n $* 2>/dev/null
    fi
    fcd ()
    { # find | grep
    if [ $# -eq 0 ]; then
echo "findcontent: No arguments entered."; return 1
    else
    # "{.[a-zA-Z],}*" instead of "." makes the output cleaner
    find $1 {.[a-zA-Z],}* -type f 2>/dev/null | xargs grep --color=auto -n $2 2>/dev/null
    fi
    fd () { find $1 -iname $2 2>/dev/null; }
    ff () { find / -iname $1 2>/dev/null; }
Do you by chance know how i can get the find output colorized? I tried it with grep but i had some trouble with wildcards.
Other than that, issue 2 is solved now, thanks guys .
    Regarding issue 3)
I couldn't make that work even with functions. I wonder if it's even possible using "shopt -s extglob".
Because if i run "rm !(g*)" in my terminal it works fine. Every file except those starting with g get deleted.
But if i fun "rm !(g*) !(7*)" to keep files starting with 7 too, everything get's deleted. Not even those starting with g remain.
I'd be glad for any input here.

Hi Jim Jutte and Colin Walls,
I was looking at this thread over on the PS Elements forum where the submitter seems to have some problems where he thinks that some photo files did not transfer from PSA3 SE to PSE 5.
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc1dc66
I suggest that you also look at this thread. I don't have PSA3 SE to know what functions it does or does not have. If PSA3 SE does have Catalog Recover and Reconnect Missing Files, can he go back to his PSA3 SE Catalog now and do the Reconnect Missing Files and Catalog Recover, then retry the catalog upgrade again in PSE5?

    Colin,
It's been a while since I'm used any bells and whistles in Access. What is

  • Difference between Catalog manager and Catalog in Answer (BIEE11g)

    Hi,
I found that the functionality of Catalog Manager and Catalog in Answer is very similar. They can both archive catalog and unarchive catalog.
Actually, what is the difference between them? so that I know when to use Catalog manager, when to use Catalog in Answer.
    Thanks

    User ...,
There are multiple differences here but the main dilineating factors I believe are administration and maintenance.
Although the Catalog page in OBIEE 11g allows you to see the objects in the catalog and even set some permissions all of the other features for patching, merging, and producing exported metadata about the catalog objects are in the Catalog Manager tool - that is the non-web-based applications.
The addition of the Catalog page to OBIEE is definitely helpful and eliminates several operations which in the past had to be conducted in the Catalog Manager but there are still many functions that don't and probably won't ever be incorporated into the catalog web-based page in OBIEE.
Let me know if that helps,
    Christian

    Hi there
I have version 5.7 and every time I opened it I was told that updates are available and to click on the icon to access these.  Instead it just took me to the
adobe page with nowhere visible to update.  I then  sought to download lightroom cc and this is when I could not access the 'develop' section due to reduced
functionality  It was apparent that my photos had been put in cc but no way to access them unless I wanted to subscribe.
I have since remedied the problem as  my original lightroom 5.7 icon is still available on the desktop and have gone back to that.  I do feel that this is a bit
of a rip off and an unnecessary waste of my time though.
Thank you for your prompt reply by the way.

    Hi,
We recently upgraded to OBIEE version 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 and installed Client tools from the same version (downloaded from Oracle Support). Once installed, ODBC connections are created to connect to the BI Server and we are able to connect to BI Server using Administration Tool. But Catalog Manager and Job Manager are not opening.
Is there any setup missing to make Catalog Manager and Job Manager work?
    Thanks in advance.

i did the add a computer function and it says that this computer is already associated with an apple id...if you use itunes match with your apple id etc for 90 days...please explain.  is this going to screw my wifes account up?

If you both have seperate iTunes Store accounts then basically, yes, it is going "screw up" your wife's account.
iTunes Match is designed as a single-user service which is associated with one and only one iTunes Store account ID. If you have subscribed on your account and want to activate the service on another computer that is already signed in with an account the present account must be signed out and then iTunes signed into your account. This means the other computer will have complete access to your account and will only be able to make purchases on your account. iTM is not designed to be signed in and out at will. If she has apps purchased with her iTunes Store account they will not be able to be updated.

    Hello Kumar,
Have you uploaded the SAP text and object files? Upload them first and then try to upload functions.
