Caution: Possible 7.2.1 Bug

Here's the scenario:
During playback, adjust your tempo while an audio (not instrument) track is selected. In my case, I invariably get a LOUD crackle/pop and the waveform is (drumroll here...) OVERWRITTEN by the corrupted wav. It's as though during the tempo shift (even if follow tempo is not checked), it is overwriting the files.
Do not try to duplicate with any files you haven't backed up. I have had every attempt to duplicate this problem result in a permanently overwritten file.
Someone please verify this. Am I losing it?

You misunderstood me, it's intentional.
I just wanted to report why I could not answer the question
for the look of the waveforms hours after the test.
I know how to zoom and so on

    Possible AMT8 midi driver bug.....
    Hi All,
    I have a slave computer hooked up to my AMT8 ports 6 and 7
    When I launch my project from Logic 7 it plays / triggers.....When I launch same project in Logic 8 it doesn't play / trigger...
    OF NOTE: I also have 2 other slave computers that are hooked up to AMT8 ports 4 and 8.....those trigger just fine...

    Could some kind soul please confirm that Logic8 does not send midi to ports 6 and 7 .....
    Hi Steven,
    My setup is identical to iS's. Unitor8 with AMT8 daisychained.
    I have port 6 I/O of the U8 going to a CM Motormix. Working great.
    I have port 14 I/O (port 6 of the AMT8) going to my old G3 Soundiver-Kurzweil K2500 rig. Also working great.
    Ports 7 and 15 at the moment aren't connected to anything, but I can test them later if you like. The LEDs for those ports are lighting when I send MIDI to them from L8 though.
    Note that when I installed Logic 8, there's an option to install the Unitor8 family drivers. I checked that. (Just in case). Try running the installer again with everything unchecked except that. Maybe there's a new version?
    Sorry I can't confirm your bug!

  • Possible CVI13 Debug Mode Bug

    I have found a possible bug in Debug mode in CVI13.  The issue is a bit complicated.  It has to do with returning a struct from a function, then referencing a char pointer in that struct in a call to sprintf.  The basic code is:
    struct TEST_STRUCT
    char *StructString;
    } TestStruct =
    "Struct String"
    struct TEST_STRUCT TestFunction(void)
    return TestStruct;
    // somewhere in the code...
    sprintf(Buff, "%s", TestFunction().StructString);
    When executed in Debug mode, the sprintf line generates the runtime warning, "Attempt to read beyond end of string".  If you select Continue the string in Buff is incorrect.  If you run the same program in Release mode it works as expected.  I found this when trying to debug a project previously built in CVI 12.  CVI 12 does not generate this warning.  I also tried refercing the string directly in CVI 13:
    sprintf(Buff, "%s", TestStruct.StructString);
     This works correctly.  I also tried using an array in the struct instead of a pointer:
    struct TEST_STRUCT
    char StructString[50];
    } TestStruct =
    "Struct String"
    This also works correctly.  I also tried using strcpy instead of sprintf:
    strcpy(Buff, TestFunction().StructString);
    This also works correctly.  The issue appears to be specific to returning a struct and then referecing a char pointer in that struct as a parameter to sprintf.
    A sample project is attached.

  • LT41 - Group TR - Not possible to mark items (bug?)

    Hi,
    transaction LT41 can be used to group together TR under one group number. This can later be used to create TOs, print TOs and confirm TOs for this group number.
    When calling LT41 I can see the open TRs sorted by movement type. But I cannot select any items, "Select all" does not work and the column "Selectd" is not ready for input.
    Transaction LT43 (group deliveries) works fine. I have the same problem while testing on the IDES system (ECC5).
    I could not find any notes related to this topic.
    Cheers
    Mathias

    Not a bug, it is just not possible to select TR if transfer type is "*". This makes sense as it is only possible to create TO for a specific transfer type.
    If only one of the following is selected for the transfer type everything works fine.

  • Possibly one or two bugs in Firefox v4.01

    When attempting to forward multiple non-consecutive E-mails by holding the CTRL key down and left-clicking the E-mails to forward, the receiver sometimes receives garbled text instead of multiple E-mails.
    I's never happened with multiple consecutive blocked E-mail forwarding (block select [using SHIFT key] the first and last E-mail to forward with all in between selected) and has only shown up corrupted twice out of about 20 attempts to send multiple non-consecutive E-mails.
    Second bug is similar to above.
    After forwarding multiple consecutive E-mails, all are marked with an icon as having been forwarded, but for multiple non-consecutive E-mails, some get marked with an icon and others don't!

  • How to DELETE WIN XP Partition? ? Possible? Repair Permissions bug...

    Apple store has a program that at the end of the day it restores the computer back to how it was fresh from the start, simply by rebooting. What program is that. That would be dope to have.
    Anyway, how do you delete a WIN XP partition? I haven't installed windows yet, but just want to be sure that I can if I want to. Thanks.
    PS> Has there been a fix to repair permissions taking so long bug?

    The repair disk permissions in Leopard is not hanging or frozen, it just takes longer to finish repair disk permissions than in Tiger. Here's more info on this one:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6593656&#6593656
    As for the merging and partitioning HD, I'm not certain if Boot Camp can create 3 partitions. So far I've only created 2. You can use the Disk Utility to create and merge multiple partitions but that will also erase the contents of the drive as well.

  • Can someone try to repeat a possible 5.1.1 bug with audio?

    I don't want to say it's a bug yet, but it's an issue that popped up after i updated to 10.4.7 and 5.1.1 from 10.4.6 and 5.1.
    The issue is with the audio mixer. I mix my audio on the fly, meaning I lay all my tracks, sots and VO's and then play through the TL with the mixer window open. I adjust the levels of the track while it's playing (non keyframing, entire clip level is adjusted).
    So I'll put my mouse on the fader, adjust the track while it's playing and let go. it'll hit the next clip and hold that level into that clip. if I hit stop and then play again, the level snaps back on #2 to where it is supposed to be (visual level and audiable level)
    Proper behavior is when FCP hits the second clip, the fader should pop to the proper level and be heard as such.
    In prior versions (4.5 and 5/5.1) this issue would only happen if I held the fader level in place past the end of the track.
    Steps taken to trouble shoot. FCP resuce, no diff. I tried this experiment with bars and tone, no difference. Also happens with imported music (48k). Stereo, mono, Linked, Unlinked all the same. Problem does seem to be slightly intermittant in working properly, the rest of the time it's not.
    If someone could try this out and let me know if they have the same behavior, that'd be awesome!

    Okay, Let's say I'm playing through the timeline. Clips 1, and 2 are both at 0db to start. While playing, I pull the level on clip 1 down to -20db and release the mouse. When it hits clip 2, the system will make the level on clip #2 also -20db which is incorrect, it should be 0db. When i stop and hit play again, the level jumps back to the proper 0db level.
    Does that makes sense.

  • Possible Undocumented 10.5 Bug

    I'm having a reoccurring and severely agitating problem with OS 10.5.x where my system will not allow me to return from an active screensaver. When this problem occurs, if I where to move my cursor my screensaver quickly dims as if it were about to show the popup dialog box challenging me for my password, but then quickly returns to an active screensaver. Also, if I where to hold down the the power button to trigger the power dialog, it behaves in the same manner. Dims out the screensaver for a split second then returns to the active screensaver. No matter how many times I do this, it always returns to the screensaver.
    The only option I have to force shut down my system by holding the power button till it kills the power. Upon rebooting, my system hangs at the gray Apple logo splash screen with the spinning gear and remains there no matter how long I leave it running. So I boot up using the Installation Discs and attempt an Archive & Install. Takes a couple of minutes in the Preparing Installation step and then within seconds of starting the actual installation step it reports back that it failed to install software on the hard disk. So I have no choice but to boot into Target Disc mode, backup my User Folder, Application Folder, and Library folder and then perform an Erase & Install on my system.
    This problem has happened once on my PowerMac G5 Dual Core 2.3, Once to my MacBook 2.2GHz, and four times on MacBook Pro. On all six instances, all three machines performed like clockwork as I describe above.
    In terms of usage,
    PowerMac G5 Dual Core 2.3GHz: is usually on 24/7 running as a file server and also acts as a studio machine for music production.
    MacBook 2.2GHz: is new and was only used as a backup machine while my MacBook Pro was undergoing a system reinstall and reconfiguration.
    MacBook Pro 2.2GHz: is my main machine that I use in office everyday.
    In terms of crash occurrences,
    PowerMac G5 Dual Core 2.3GHz: was running Leopard since its launch date and now is going on two weeks since its one and so far only crash.
    MacBook 2.2GHz: was purchased less than a month ago and wasn't taken out of its retail box till my MacBook Pro was under repair. Used it for about a week before it crashed, restored the system and haven't used it since.
    MacBook Pro 2.2GHz: was purchased in January, worked fine for about 3 months then had it's first crash. I had the machine sent to depot thinking it was an issue with my logic board only to have it returned to me with a fresh install of Leopard. Two weeks after receiving my MacBook Pro, the same crash happened again. This time, knowing that Apple would just perform an Erase & Install, I just saved myself the time and hassle and did it myself. Five days later crashes a third time, rinse and repeat and now just 4 days after it crashes again. I am currently reinstalling my system again.
    (All my systems are configured with Arabesque with "Show With Clock" checked off and require password to resume usage. Activation timer is set to 5 minutes with the bottom left active screen corner set to activate my screensaver when I place my cursor in that corner)
    In terms of hardware specs
    PowerMac G5 Dual 2.3GHz has 8GB of Apple RAM
    MacBook 2.2Ghz has 1GB of Apple RAM (Pre-built Factory Spec)
    MacBook Pro 2.2GHz has 4GB of Apple RAM
    I have run ASD looping for 8 hours on my MacBook Pro and all Test pass without any issues. Therefore approaching Apple with this issue and expecting hardware replacement is pointless.
    Has anyone heard of or has experienced this same issue? This is extremely frustrating for obvious reasons but also extremely nerve wrecking because I just recently got the company i work for to switch over to Mac and instead of focusing my time on configuring our new xserve and Apple notebooks, I have been stuck constantly reinstalling my MacBook Pro and coming up with excuses for the CEO of my company.
    On a side note, I am Apple certified and used to work for Apple as a Genius, so I have gone through the troubleshooting checklist and still with no solution to my issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Send bug reports and enhancement requests to Apple via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. If you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. • Possible Media Encoder CS5 BUG???

    Since the Media Encoder has no "official" home that I could find on the forum I thought this would be the best place to post this since my videos are exported from After Effects.  If it isn't the correct location I apologize.
    Here's the issue:
    When I encode an H.264 (.MP4) video from a .mov file with Media Encoder CS5 the Data Size and Data Rate attributes do not show up in the Apple QuickTime Movie Inspector.  I can convert the exact same video with the CS4 version and it shows up.  I've made sure I have all the same settings selected on both versions.  I have noticed on the CS5 version there is a new Metadata button next to the "OK" button.  I looked at all the properties in there and did not see any feature to enable data rate and data size as if those were metadata features rather than something QuickTime calculates.  It must be something that the encoder includes onto the file after compression is complete.  Otherwise, why would the Movie Inspector not display that information for only MP4's created with Media Encoder CS5?  This is important to me because I put a lot of videos on the web and data rate is extremely important in this process.  I've noticed the data rate I specify in the encoder is slightly off from the number I see in QuickTime so I consider QuickTime's number to be more accurate.  It would be nice if you could view video properties with the Media Encoder like you can with QuickTime.
    This is the setup I've tested on:
    Worked
    Windows XP AND Windows 7
    Adobe Media Encoder CS4
    QuickTime Player v7.6.7(1675)
    Does Not Work
    Windows XP AND Windows 7
    Adobe Media Encoder CS5
    QuickTime Player v7.6.7(1675)
    The process I use each time I compress a video:
    A .mov file is handed off to me by one of our "video guys" who uses After Effects
    I import the video into Adobe Media Encoder CS4 or CS5
    Apply my settings and compress the video
    After compression has completed, I play video in QuickTime and view Movie Inspector.
    Maybe I'm over looking the setting on CS5 to enable those two features.  There's not a whole lot of documentation on this product.  Any assistants would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Eric

    Tim,
    Thanks for logging the issue and giving more insight!  I tried to research what version of QuickTime I have but couldn't really find a definite answer.  I'll take your word for it that I have the 32-bit version.  It looks like there is a 64-bit version out there but only for Snow Leopard I think (QuickTime X).  Not sure when that will make it to the Windows world if it is true.
    If there was some type of "movie inspector" built into AME that would completely eliminate my need for QuickTime.  But, I'm sure it would be much easier for you guys at this point to add those two changes to the process already in place that talks to QuickTime.  I will definitely put in a request or two for features.  I think AME is a great tool now and could also become much more.
    If you ever need a tester for newer versions of AME, just give me a shout.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Nokia N8: Possible Power Saving Mode Bug

    Dear All,
    For the past week, I've change the way I use my Nokia N8. I decided to set it up in power saving mode during the evening. There is no point for it to be on 3.5G if nobody is using it. Unfortunately, I seem to have hit a problem. At the moment, my N8 is using a pay as you go sim card from O2 and this card is in the phone 24/7.
    When I activate power saving mode, the phone re-registers with the network and the maximum speed it will have will be EDGE. In the morning, when I take my phone I disable power saving mode and the phone re-registers again with the network.
    Having said that, on multiple ocassions, my phone showed some worrying symptoms. For example, a few das ago, when I disabled power saving mode, the phone did not show the 3.5G icon and I could not make any phone calls. The coverage was up and down. You might say that, it did not show 3.5G because you had no 3.5G you idiot. That is not true, where I live, there is 3.5G everywhere.
    I was shocked that I could not make any phone calls. After a few reboots and taking SIM card out, I managed to get the phone in working order.
    Today, the same thing happened. I managed to fix it just a few moments ago. It seems that the power saving mode option has an implementation problem or O2 does not like the way the N8 registers to the network when you enable and disable the said feature.  Has anyone encountered this???

    @m80116, this may well be a solution, but could be problematic if in a weak reception area where only Edge is available ? You could lose data connection completely ! I tend to use Dual mode, and generally don't have an issue, but certainly for anyone living and working in a very strong 3 or 3.5G area it may work very well, wish I had the luxury of being able to use 3G Only

  • Is it possible I found a bug in Java Pattern (JDK 1.5)???

    It is hard to believe that I should have found an error in the java.util.regex.Pattern class - and I hope you can tell me I'm wrong. Look at this example:
    Let's say the pattern is "%\d+". I can then easily match against, let's say "%20". If I however changes the string to "%20 ", then no match, not complete or partial! The oddest thing is that it seems to be connected to the usage of "%". To really nail the point..if you change the string to "%20 %20 ", then you will find two partial matches (which is correct). I have tried to debug the Pattern-class myself - but my debugger wouldn't show me the local variables in the Pattern class, so I gave up. Try to run the program below with JRE 1.5 (update 18) and exchange the "s" var to test it.
    public class RegExp {
    private static Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("%\\d+");
    public static void main(String[] args) {
              String s = "%20";
              Matcher m = pattern.matcher(s);
              if (m.matches()) {
                   System.out.println("Complete match:");
                   for (int i = 0; i <= m.groupCount(); i++) {
                        System.out.println("Group " + i + " : " + m.group(i));
              } else if (m.find()) {
                   int pos = 0;
                   while (m.find(pos)) {
                        System.out.println("Partial match:");
                        pos = m.end();
                        for (int i = 0; i <= m.groupCount(); i++) {
                             System.out.println("Group " + i + " : " + m.group(i));
              } else {
                   System.out.println("NO MATCH");

    Sorry about the code. It truly compiled and worked..but I didn't know about the code-tag thing. Here is an version that should work well...or at least I hope so
    import java.util.regex.Matcher;
    import java.util.regex.Pattern;
    public class RegExp {
         private static Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("%\\d+");

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful.

  • How It Was Fixed (Possible Software Bug Not Hardware): Getting the iMac Screen/Menus Garbled and/or Yellow Circle Before Getting Into Finder Issues?

    Hi. Possible fix done to my late- 2009 iMac's screen/graphics issue that may work God willing, hopefully for most [In my case it sometimes had that yellow circle that appears before it goes to the Finder but mostly it was a messed up desktop and menus (unreadable mostly) after months, prayers and weeks of fixing it; recommended to be read entirely first coz' it's a bit complicated (like a lot of subplots). If uncomfortable to try coz' it involved a GPU stress test, contact your authorized Apple service center for their advice]. I had an iMac (late 2009) screen garbling a few hours ago (was weeks ago when it resurfaced until it got worse that it's at every boot on Mavericks):
    †        I booted to Snow Leopard USB external (my back-up OS) drive then run the first    person shooter at redeclipse.net. I set everything to max, including the display, resolution and graphics setting with fullscreen and v-sync on. I then refreshed it which brought it back to normal (I then tested it's stability with GPUTest 0.7 with Furmark for 15 minutes). * if the display options have been set to max before, bring it back to the default then refresh and then max it again Possibly any games that's has the graphic settings (or more advanced) of Red Eclipse could work (other free ones are Xonotic and Open Arena which are based on Quake 1 or 3s engine I believe).
    Optional but not recommended (have warrantied if that's still available or have it repaired at authorized service centers):
    If that doesn't work, review articles and videos on how to open an Intel iMac and get an iPhone/iPad/another way to get to the 'net ready for research (I opened mine very carefully on the right side with a cutter with blade extended far prying it carefully then I inserted a flat end, sturdy plastic used for mixing epoxy then removed the cutter carefully to let the plastic mixing tool do the prying) to see if the cable connected to the logicboard which is on top of, is connected (mine was detached but I'm not sure if the adjusting and tilting of the screen overtime for 2 & 1/2 years, detached it) then do † above again.
    It could to be a software problem, a possible Apple ATI driver bug that takes overtime to surface (2 1/2 years it resurfaced because this started in my case after upgrading to Lion when Apple coded things mostly from the ground up. Snow Leopard didn't have this problem).
    Thank you for your time. Have a great upcoming sunday mass/great upcoming weekend. I hope this helps.
    God bless, Rev. 21:4, Matt. 16:18

    Does an external display also act in a similar manner as the internal one?
    Some earlier Intel-based iMacs had graphic processor card issues; not sure what
    the symptoms of the majority of them were, but some had odd patterns, others
    went black, and some would range from OK to totally unusable. Among others.
    So there is a chance the graphic processor may be going out; or just the circuitry
    that controls the backlight. An inverter may be weak or other circuit to the display
    could be wearing out.
    http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
    If you have access to an Apple Store with Genius bar, they can perform some kinds
    of diagnostic tests there even though the computer is out-of-warranty; that may be
    of help to narrow down the cause of the symptoms you've noticed. They may not be
    able to repair it, however, at an Apple Store; as it is rather old by today's standard.
    An Apple Authorized Service Provider could do repairs and testing on older models
    the Apple Store's Genius and other may not be set up to handle due to vintage.
    Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider
    Visit an Apple Retail Store
    There is a country locator page to help find either of the above in regions outside

    You may be able to get an idea about what kinds of parts support the display
    function by name by looking into an iFixit.com repair guide for your iMac series.
    Hopefully the parts supporting the display are the reason it is dimming down, as
    a graphic processor failure likely would exhibit other behaviors than just dimming.

    and you seem to have at least one other thread on the same topic....
    Good luck & happy computing!
