Cfserver.log Purpose

I working with CF8 on a Linux box, and I'm using cflog,
specifying a file file name to use. After running a page like this
I'm finding that the log entries are in the file I specified, but
are also in the cfserver.log.
I would like to stop this duplication of log messages. I was
hoping someone could shed some light on why this is happening,
whether I am doing something wrong, etc. Generally speaking, I
would also like to know what cfserver.log is for, as I could find
no descripton on Google or in my numerous Forta/Camden
books.

Hi Ken,
There is nothing in runtime/logs all we are getting is
"[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file." in the cfserver.log
file over and over, for example:
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
[Fatal Error] :-1:-1: Premature end of file.
There are pages and pages of it. We process XML from three
different web services, however we are not getting any errors on
the site or in the application.log or exception.log.
From what you are saying we would expect to get a parse error
either on the page and/or in the exception.log. I'm not even sure
if this is even causing us any kind of problem, but I don't like
seeing unexplainable error messages in the logs.

Is there any way to make these log files CF Admin viewer
friendly in Linux? The CF Admin log viewer doesn't have any sorting
or filtering capabilities for these files and they start at the
beginning of the log file. So it'll show me for example, 1 - 40 of
54376 and I have to hit next, next, next, next, etc... to see the
most recent activity. There's no last page button, which makes it
impossible to use. I know I can cat the dang thing to the screen or
use another linux utility but shouldn't this work in the CF Admin?
Anyone have a tweak that does this? I'm sure there's an xml
    file somewhere I can change < log-usability
    logfile="exception.log" value="unusable" /> to <
    log-usability logfile="exception.log" value="admin-friendly" />.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Raw video for logging purposes

Does anybody have a quick and easy way to deliver raw video to producers so they can log it?
I'm constantly creating dvd's for producers that have hours of footage on it... and it takes forever! I'm hoping there's a way to deliver it to them on line. The quality doesn't have to be great. Just good enough so they can see the timecode of soundbites and b-roll.
    Thank you.

    Hi -
Like Mr. Harbsmeier suggest above, I keep a cheap DVD recorder in my edit bay.
I can quickly drag the clips to the timeline in order, slap a timecode reader filter on them and then play the output out to my Panasonic DVD recorder - I don't care if it drops an occasional frame or so as this is only for viewing. And it will even record up to 6 hours on a single DVD in super-duper compressed mode, which is certainly good enough for the clients to view and select takes from.
This is the fastest way that I know of - make the DVD and FedEx or courier it off to the client.
Making a real DVD, or compressing for use on and uploading to the web will all take much more time, IMHO.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem with logging in webservices

I need one tech help for the team.
We are using log4j for logging purpose.
Actually we have one web application which is already developed and using log4j for logging purpose.
And as an enhancement , we are having Webservices project on the application.
We are using same log4j for logging the webservices details also. But we use different properties file to include different file names.
The application is developed using j2ee technologies and the server used is JBOSS-Apache tomcat server
The problem we are facing is the writing to log file by the main application and webservices application becoming inconsistent, for eg: sometimes both are writing properly ,sometimes, webservices writes and not the main application...it stops logging and viceversa..but if we repeat the same,we are able to get the same kind of inconsistencies without any change...
if u know about log4j please let me know.

What do you mean main application and webservice? I guess your main application is webservice client and both of them have different process and try to share to use same log file. In this case, the client can waiting for webservice method call, set enough timeout for that.
or translate Exception from webservice to your main aplication, and let main application to control the log file.
Or for Log4j in XML it can define different output at same time, just define one for main application and one for main application

  • Reading the data from table control and write log.

    Hi all,
In va01 trasaction i have table control 'All item'.
I want to write value of some columns,( Article no, Order, plant ) so on into ecatt Log file after saving the trasction, for all rows which is having article no.
Is there any possibility in eCATT with going to GETGUI function which is static to spacefic field.
    Regards,
    Sree

    Hi Sreedhar,
There are two types of variable values you find in transactions, one system generated(generally the unique values) and then the static field values..
When you want to go for the static field values you can use GETGUI. You can use the same GETGUI n number of times according to the situation(like in loops etc) and for the system generated messages we can handle them from the message blocks.
    MESSAGE.
    ENDMESSAGE.
In the message block make a rule for the message that you are expecting like
'E' MSGNR(the message number) and give a variable in the fields MSGV1/MSGV2 where ever you are getting the unique generated value(according to the log) and you can use that variable for LOG purpose..
Confirm me whether you were looking for this or something else.
    Best regards,
    Harsha

  • Logging File Settings Don't Work

Well, the Topic Summary above seems to explain the problem.
We are trying to limit the size of the log files to 1000 KB (1 MB).
We also want to keep 10 archived copies. Here are the settings that
    are being used:
    Maximum File Size (kb) 1000
    Maximum Number of Archives: 10
For some reason the cfserver log file does not stop at 1 MB
    has reached over 6 MB.
Any ideas? And as always, Thanks in Advance!!
PS: And yes we are saving the settings before closing the
    Administrator.

Thanks Grizz, but we are running 6.1 with all of the latest
updates and Hot Fixes. I work for a state orgainization for their
unemployment web site, and they upgrade not when a new release is
issued, but when they can financially justify the expense.

  • Final Cut crash on 'Log and Capture' selection

    Hi guys,
So I have a BlackMagic Decklink Extreme card installed, and hooked up to a Sony J-3 DigiBeta Deck.
When I attempt to 'log and capture' final cut crashes before the capture window pops up. This happens on all setup's (10-bit/8-bit/JPEG) when I have device control turned on (RS-422). If I turn off device control, the capture window opens normally, and I can do a capture now, which is no good to me for logging purposes, or doing offline edits.
So, my question: Is the device control crashing Final Cut due to the fact that Im using an intel mac with Final Cut 5.0.4? Can anyone confirm this for me? Or is there something I can do to fix this? Has anyone experienced this problem?
Device control works outside Final Cut, in BlackMagic Deck Control, so I know its not a card issue.
Im still waiting on a copy of Final Cut 2, its in the pipelines... but in the meantime if there is a quickfix to this, help would be much appreciated, as Final Cut 5.0.4 is otherwise extremely stable for me...
    Thanks,

    Some background:
720x480 is a non-square format. It can either be the equal of 640 x 480 (4:3) or 954 x 480 (16:9) depending on what you tell your editing software the incoming stream will be.
If you told FCP the incoming stream is DV/NTSC 4:3 and you are getting a pillarboxed image, FCP is thinking you are sending it a 16:9 version and is filling the the sides to keep the aspect ratio correct.
It would help to know a whole lot more about settings within FCP and what your mixer is putting out.

    ============================
    PURPOSE
    Explanation
AR Forms:
    Transactions workbench (ARXTWMAI)
    Receipts workbench (ARXRWMAI)
    Collections (ARXCWMAI)
    Debug Setup
    To turn on the debugging:
    Set the following profiles:
FND: Debug Log Enabled = YES
FND: Debug Log Filename = NULL
FND: Debug Log Level = STATEMENT (most detailed log)
FND: Debug Log Module = % or ar% or even ar.arp_auto_rule%
    2. menu에서 help/diagnostic/examine 을 Click 한다.
    5. Value
    FS <path> <file>
    a)
    FS
FS creates a file, displaying Forms and Server debug messages.
    b)
    <path>
This is where the AR Debug Log file will be written to.
To find out where the log file must be saved, type the following in
    SQL*Plus:
    select value from v$parameter
    where upper(name) = 'UTL_FILE_DIR';
    c) Decide what to call the debug log file. For example, debug2.dbg
If the file specified already exists, the new debug messages will be
appended to it. In general, it is recommended to define a new debug file for each problem reported.
    d)
    Full example:
    Block: PARAMETER
    Field: AR_DEBUG_FLAG
    Value: FS /sqlcom/log debug2.dbg

  • Audit Log persistence

    Hi Everybody,
I am using Message monitoring to see the processing of the messages.
When I click on the details of the message I see Audit Log is deleted but I can see the message payload. However I could see the audit log for new messages trigerred now.
Is there any setting to retain the audit log or anything to do with archiving and deletion?
Can somebody help me out on this?
Helpful answers will be rewarded points.
    Thanks,
    Zabiulla

    Hi,
You have not mentioned the nature of your interfaces but then giving you the answer for both type of sync and asysn interfaces.
Asynchronous messages are always persisted in the runtime persistence layer, whereas synchronous messages can only be persisted if errors occurred or for logging purposes in the Integration Engine. Only successfully processed asynchronous messages in the persistence layer can be archived or deleted. Messages with errors are never automatically deleted, but only manually by administrators.

  • Log SQL before query is sent to the database

I have a query that hangs once it has been sent to the database. I'm looking for a way to log the SQL before it is sent to the DB. The SQL logging channel only logs the sql once the query has returned from the database. While the QUERY logging channel will log the QL before the query is executed, I still need the generated SQL to determine what is wrong.
Is there a way to force SQL logging before the query is sent to the database. Alternatively is there a way to generate the sql from the current PersistenceManager or Query objects? I have tried using KodoQuery.getQueryString() but this returns the same output as the QUERY logging channel, i.e. the JDO QL.
Kodo version 3.2.3 with SQL Server 2000
    Regards
    Nathan

    hi ,
I am not sure of the answer , but i can explain what we will do to check the SQL that is being fired by the KODO to the database.
We use log4j for logging purpose in our application. To generate SQL log file , we will keep an appender for the
"com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.SQL" with threshold value "ALL" . We get the skeleton prepaid statement as well as the query with values also.

  • Sensor as logging mechanism..

I'm considering using sensor for general logging purpose, since it seems to be a very elegant way of collecting data.
Though I've a question; To have a usefull log, I need some additional info besides what the sensor can provide. eg. which program did the logging - and possibly a logical key.
Is it possible to provide this info along with the sensor data?
    Rgds, Henrik

    Hello Henrik,
if you store the desired information in BPEL variables, you can log these variables by creating Activity Variable Sensors
The sensors.xml then should hold something like this:
       <sensor sensorName="Receive_EDI" classname="oracle.tip.pc.services.reports.dca.agents.BpelActivitySensorAgent" kind="activity" target="receiveInput">
          <activityConfig evalTime="activation">
             <variable outputDataType="long" outputNamespace="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" target="$inputVariable/payload/ns2:TblEdifactNachrichtCollection/ns2:TblEdifactNachricht/ns2:sid"/>
          </activityConfig>
       </sensor>HTH,

  • Logging OWB mapping execution in Shell script

    Hi,
I am executing a OWB mapping from a shell script like this
    $OWB_SQLPLUS MY_WAREHOUSE plsql MY_MAPPING "," ","
I want to log this mapping execution process into a file.
Please let me know if this will work:
    $OWB_SQLPLUS MY_WAREHOUSE plsql MY_MAPPING "," "," >> LOGFIL.log
I will just be using this log file to track all the execution and use it for logging purpose.
If this wont work, please tell me the proper way to do this...
    Thanks.

    Avatar,
">>" is the Unix operator that will redirect output and append to a particular file, so what you have should work if you're executing it from the shell prompt. Although I don't know specifically what OWB_SQLPLUS and MY_WAREHOUSE are.
In my company, we have the call to the owb script inside another script. For example, file x contains the following line:
    sqlplus repository_user/pwd@database @sqlplus_exec_template.sql repository_owner location task_type task_name custom_params system_params
Then at the prompt, we enter:
    nohup x > x.log &
And the mapping or workflow executes.
    Jakdwh,
Are you redirecting your output to a file so you can see why it's returning a '3'? The log file will usually tell you where the error occurred. I don't know what your input parameters for your mapping is, but the script is pretty picky about the date format. Also, even if you don't have any input parameters, the "," still has to be sent into the script.
    Hope this helps,
    Heather

  • Print job logging

Does anyone know of a workable low-cost solution to allow logging of printed docs for billing purposes? My clients are architects wanting to accumulate print history by job/user for billing purposes.
As far as I can see the built-in print service logs don't show the document name.
    Thanks

As I said in a previous post, I've written a simple script for print quota, but you can use it for logging purposes only.
However, it doesn't log the name of the job (it logs only job id). For ex:
    (2007/08/20 - 09:11:22) username printqueue (job 20641 from @IP) 1 copies of 6 pages - ACCEPTED (no quota set)

    ========================================================
    PURPOSE
    Explanation
    1. Logging 시작
    SQL> EXEC CTX_OUTPUT.START_LOG('ctx_log');
    2. Table의 Row level 로 logging을 남기기 위해 아래의 event를 추가한다.
    SQL> EXEC CTX_OUTPUT.ADD_EVENT(CTX_OUTPUT.EVENT_INDEX_PRINT_ROWID);
    3. Text index를 생성한다.
    4. Index생성이 끝난 후에 Logging기능을 끝낸다.
    SQL> EXEC CTX_OUTPUT.END_LOG;
