Challenging one

Dear All,
First i am Wishing you a Very happy New Year. Herewith i am attaching the VI. This VI is occupying my total system time while execution. I need to collect around 400 texts from the user and store it in the file for future use. I need in tab format only-refer vi(users condition).
The text for each one should 5 char. I am using the subvis for each text box.
Plz anybody optimize this code for better and fast execution. loop delay is 1000 ms, but i need it in 200ms.
Expecting the Optimized code,

Dear All,
Really sorry, herewith i attached the sub vis.
i dont know how to simplyfy this , In h/w interface, user can select the modes by pressing the switches. There are 5 main modes. Each main mode has 8 sub mode. If user select the main mode 1 and sub mode 5 ( by selecting the h/w Switch interfaced with DIO lines), the corresponding 24 led names, 24 switch names and ROT,POTname ...etc has sent to LCD for display. If user changes the mode, the name of all controls of that particular mode will also sent to lcd for display.
So i need to collect the 24 led names, 24 switch names, 2 rot switch name. 4 pot name and sub mode name from the user for 40 modes(5 main mode * 8 sub mode). The name is restricted to 5 char.
I need to cluster all the names for each mode, and finally cluster the cluster of each mode and store into one file. Irrespective of loop time, my cpu time is fully allocated for LV only. For 200 ms, the CPU time for LV is 93, and For 1000ms , the CPU time for LV is 85.
Kindly help me

trying to video ichat (3.1.8 v445) with my wife. unsuccessful with error -8.
we both have macbook laptops, and we both can video chat with NO problem to everyone we have tried except to each other. we can video chat with the same people, although not as a conference. so both of us appear to have perfectly good functioning ichat, except when we try each other.
any ideas?? thanks, jeff

Otherwise it is not an issue
Yes Ralph,
A codec (compressor/decompressor) is an algorithm or scheme that is used to record digital video or audio. For example, when you transmit video over the Internet, the video must be compressed on the sending end and decompressed on the receiving end. A codec can be chosen based upon the user's audio or image quality and image size preferences. When you read a QuickTime movie, a Video for Windows decompressor decompresses the QuickTime files. If the decompressor does not support the compression method used by the QuickTime movie, the OP has a problem.
So if it won't fix the problem, it might be helpful anyway.
A Challenge so to speak, cause when that happens you can't get video from camera.

• Update query performance - Challenging one

Hi All,
Below is the procedure I have created to update the five columns of one table. I have to update almost 9673533 records.
With the below procedure for updating 500 records it took around 1.5 hrs.
What would be the best strategy to enhance the performance of the procedure.. Please throw your ideas to make it in less time.
create or replace procedure test is

Hello
First things first, you need to trace it to find out where it is spending it's time. Find out which statements are taking the longest and target them.
That said however, you are using the slowest possible method for processing this data by using a cursor for loop. You are then doing separate lookups over a database link - and you are doing the queries twice! You could reduce the time of the lookups by 50% just by combining the queries...for example
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE test
IS
CURSOR cur_web_prd
IS
SELECT rp_id
FROM dw_retl_prds t;

lc_long_brief          VARCHAR2 (2000);
ld_date_first_online   DATE;

lc_copos_ssl2 := NULL;
lc_qoslistid := NULL;
END LOOP;
COMMIT;
END;But this is still not an efficient implementation - you should try to put all of this into 1 or more Update statements without the loop. Something like...
UPDATE dw_retl_prds t
SET (   t.web_short_brief,
t.web_long_brief,
t.date_first_online,
t.date_sent
) =
(   SELECT
s.short_brief,
s.long_brief,
s.date_first_online,
s.date_sent
FROM
web_prds@nrstp s
WHERE
t.rp_id = s.rp_rp_id
WHERE
EXISTS( SELECT
NULL
FROM
web_prds@nrstp s
WHERE
t.rp_id = s.rp_rp_id
);That way you would have 1, 2 or 3 update statements each of which will run in a fraction of the time it takes for your process to run. You may need to do more work after this, such as materializing the results locally from the remote database rather than joining over the database link, but that's a bridge you can cross when you come to it.

• This could be a challenging one..

Hi,
I was wondering are there is anyways to "emulate" an external
website on a full-flash interface.
I know this sounds kinda weired... Here is what I mean by
"emulate:"
Imagine a html website that is bisected into two frames; one
can put an tag on either one of the frame and add
the <_target> parameter to display the linked website on the
other frame of the same window.
Is it possible to "emulate" (or display/load) another website
(whether it be flash/html/whatever) onto a full-flash interface???
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!

It would be neat if you have super fast internet as does your friend.. it could indeed be done.. a pair of TC can be made to do it.. but TC has no incremental backup built in..
You also pay for the bandwidth upload.. if your ISP is so inclined.. and then pay for the bandwidth download to the friends router.
Why not backup to an external drive.. and carry that drive to your friends house.. pick up your second spare and take that home for the next weeks worth of backups.. so you never lose more than the week.
Or just use the cloud for the weeks incremental.

• Challenging one Regarding layouts in Report

Dear all,
I am developing a report using function modules.Here in my report i want a feature of VA05.In VA05 if we goto SETTINGS->LAYOUT->CHOOSE.It will allow us to select a layout. If we select header level layout it will display all records without duplicates.Again if we select item level layout it will display records with duplicates.Can anybody tell me how can i implement this logic in my report.
Regards,
vineel

you can pass the parameter I_SAVE = 'A' when u call your FM, to display the report output. (REUSE_ALV_GRId or LIST or SET_TABLE_FOR .... whichever it is ).
also, you have to pass the VARIANT structure.
data:       LS_VARI           TYPE DISVARIANT.
ls_vari-report = sy-repid.

• How to notify one subprocess from another subprocess

Hi All
I have a situation in which I need to notify one sub process from another sub process.e.g
Let say Parent Process is - A
First Child Process of A - a1 (Subprocess)
Second Child Process of A - a2 (Subprocess)
I have created Correlation for both the sub process. Now when I try to find a1(Subprocess) from an activity which is in a2(Subprocess), I am not able to do this.
Code that I have used from a2(Subprocess) to notify a1(Subprocess) is as follows
instanceId = Correlation.findInstanceBy(name : "a1Subprocess", values : {"a"});
if(instanceId!=null){
Notification.send(instanceId : instanceId, activityName : "TerminateA1", parameters : null);
where "a1Subprocess" is Correlation name of a1(Subprocess) and "TerminateA1" is a NotificationWait activity in a1(Subprocess).
Question is how can I correctly notify a1(Subprocess) from a2(Subprocess).
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
There's another thread on this forum where I posted an answer to this today. Take a look at that.
I'll admit that this is challenging (one of my simple 8 step processes), so I posted a working Oracle 10g Studio project example that has a split with notifications going between the child siblings. In the example on [Notification between siblings inside a Split activity|http://www.4shared.com/file/95299867/e7705994/CorrelationNotificationBetweenSplitSiblings.html] you'll see that this example aborts the sibling's instance (in the Interactive after the Notification Wait (now called Message Wait). Change the logic in this to suit your needs.
Hope this helps,
Dan

• Complex Infrastructure Design Challenges

Hi
I need some advice on a infrastructure design. I am hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.
Requirements are as follows
- Sharepoint 2013 3-Tier Design
-> Front-End Cluster
-> App Tier
-> SQL Cluster
Aside from the requirements from a server perspective which provides it's own challenges there needs to be Single-Sign On, however multi-domain support will be challenging since there will be two AD Forests with no trust relationship being allowed.
I have the following challenges:
- One of the two domains there will be full control on the service accounts and the management environment, but using the servers on that domain as the initial domain will be very limiting in it's own sense. The other domain there will be limited or no control
- Single sign on nightmare is that these two domains have no trust relationship and never will. How could I manage that with the above point also holding true. I saw an article on ADFS that will be able to provide the transparent authentication level but
what would be required from access perspective to have ADFS tied in with the domain which there will be no control over
- The servers is currently joined on the domain with the limited control the possibility to intall cluster services, sql services and sharepoint services is a bit limited. This can be switched to the domain with the complete control but the Single sign on
nightmare will be the ultimate deciding factor
Help, advice or any resource documents with examples of such scenario's would be helpful
Can someone point me in the direction I need to be. I am happy to read up on any knowledge articles if there are any

Starting with ADFS, you will want to establish ADFS Federation. This means that the domain you have no control over also has an ADFS server. The only requirements for that implementation is opening TCP/443 to the ADFS server (or ADFS proxy) and it must be
a member of the domain (an ADFS proxy does not).
Alternatively, you could provide Active Directory accounts to all of the users for the other domain in the domain you do have control over, but this likely isn't desirable.
As for the servers, you won't be able to just disjoin them and join another domain. Instead, you're going to have to build a brand new implementation and copy content over (e.g. copy the databases from the first implementation to the second).

What are the Integration Challenges while working with SFDC?
As in market many CRMs are present specifically want to know what challenges one needs to face if he choose SFDC CRM with BODS.
Challenges may comes under data type, data model, security level, configuration, data structure, mapping structure...etc.

Hosted Apps are the last remaining hurdle that I'm aware of.

• I can't get it working.

This should be a no brainer, but it hasn''t turned out that way. I Have a MacBook pro and an airport extreme. I also have a cable modem. With the cable modem plugged in and responding, I followed the setup helper thing and was told I was connected. Great! Let's get a webpage, not connected. All bars are roaring. You are connected. No I am not. Reset the modem for 5 min. and rebooted modem like the assistent told me.
I try again, no. But LAN yes. I'm a bit tee'd now.
I reset the Extreme and reset the modem about 5 times total. Following all the correct stepsand on the last one I even read through the manual. Yes, all correct. No weird apple propriety. Even tried stripping down everytyhing and manually adding an 802.11 location. Nothing freakin' works.
All firmware is up to date.
Network pane shows connection through the ethernet and I get assigned an IP in the correct locations...10.0.0.blah. Disconect ethernet cable, authenticate my wireless password, and IP changes to generic 169.124.blah. Not router address. Not REALLY connected. Can't print either, meaning the connection never takes place as the nice assistant say's. So I go manual and add everything by myself: that does not work. Everything has been done to this thing with all the correct steps taken with regard to cable modems. I really don't think I am doing anything wrong .... Anyway, I could go on. It doesn't work with the MacBook card.
This may be a challenging one. Thanks in advance to all you people who respond and help out on the forums. Whenever I am here it always feels great that so many people are out there giving knowledge.
I guess I am looking more for some thoughts on known bugs with the Macbook airport and wireless systems.
It makes me laugh (and grimace) that I am a Mac sysadmin at 2 rather large companies. I am not saying that smuggly, just to ask that you try not to respond with basic networking protocol suggestions. I might need a little something more.

Are you using the access control list on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS)? If so, turn it off.
Open the Network preference pane. Drag AirPort to the top of the list. Better yet, disable Ethernet. Can it connect?
If that isn't it... the list of possibilities is short. The IP address starting with 169 indicates that it is not properly connecting with the DHCP server on the AEBS. Apparently, reading through your text, you have successfully established the wireless connection with the AEBS it is the communication with the DHCP server that is failing.
Have you been able to try the MacBook on other wireless networks?
Did you accidently configure this AEBS to use WDS? If so there is an option that prevents wireless clients from joining.
If you do have WDS enabled, you should disable it since you aren't wirelessly connecting any other base stations.

• How to make a page blind accessible

Hey Y'all, I run a website for a die-cast toy car
manufacturer (
Liberty Promotions - View
it here ), The way the page is designed primarily uses images,
of the cars, and of the descriptions (we do this so we can control
the font, for Pirates 2, we use a pirate font found online, so the
"look" is the same) and pretty much everything else. Yes I know its
a lot of images, its heavy on the download time, and its a pain to
edit. But my boss likes it that way, and so thats the way, at least
for now, that it is going to stay. We havent had many complaints
about it till now, and this one threw me for a loop:
One of our clients won a contest we are running to submit
possible suggestions to be made into our die-cast cars, this
client's suggestion was taken as this times winner and we are
starting to produce the cars. On the site when someone wins we
display a photo, and a synopsis about them and there collection.
While talking to this guy telling him what I needed, he infomed me
that his is blind., but still collects our products, (very much a
"seeing is believing" type of product") I was flabergasted, and
then he said he had a comment, that (go figure) our site being very
much image based does not translate well onto his page reader
(windows- eyes), So I talked to him a little more and decided that
especially for the car he "visualized" I would make an effort to
make it very Windows-Eyes friendly, so that he could get the full
description of the buses, the schedule, etc... using his reader,
and not have to call in someone else to read it for him. Of course
I would like to start building this into all my future pages, just
to make it easier for him and for anyone else in the same
situation. But, I dont know where to start. Can anyone give me some
good suggestions on how to do this? Can I use a <div
class"visibility: hidden;"> to hide the same text that is on the
graphics (i.e.- Take the text from the description in PS and
Copy/Paste into DW) and then have it be hidden from all Visual
readers, or should I do something different? Please help, I know I
would appreciate it, and so would he!
Thanks

I'm not suggesting using body text as graphics. Most
'decorative'
graphics that contain text are of sufficient size that anyone
with what
you call 'regular' eyesight will be able to read the text. If
they don't
fall into the 'regular' bracket then most likely they need a

How is saying that everyone has different opinions on what

You only have access to your own log files not every other

Thats complete rubbish....design and presentation are

That's because you cannot distinguish between general
information sites
and sites which need to sell. Once you do that we can hold a
sensible
debate.
You don't usually have to buy general information you do have

One needs to take everything into consideration and make the
right
decision. Of course whether one makes the correct decision is
very
personal to what they believe is important and not so
important.

• How to create a dynamic RTF report which creates dynamic columns based on dynamic column selection from a table?

Hi All,
Suppose I have table, whose structure changes frequently on daily basis.
For eg. desc my_table gives you following column name on Day 1
SQL > desc my_table;
Output
Name
Age
Phone
On Day 2, two more columns are added, viz, Address and Salary.
SQL > desc my_table;
Output
Name
Age
Phone
Address
Salary
Now I want to create an Dynnamic RTF report which would fetch data from ALL columns from my_table on daily basis. For that I have defined a concurrent program with XML as output type and have attached a data template/data definition to it which takes in XML as input and gives final output of conc program in EXCEL layout. I am able to do this for constant number of columns, but dont know how to do it when the number of columns to be displayed changes dynamically.
For Day 1 my XML file should be like this.

<dataTemplate name="XYZ" description="iExpenses Report" Version="1.0">
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q2">

SELECT Name
,Age
,Phone
FROM my_table

</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_my_table" source="Q2">
<element name="Name" value="Name" />
<element name="Age" value="Age" />
<element name="Phone" value="Phone" />
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
And my Day 1, EXCEL output from RTF template should be like this.
Name     Age     Phone
Swapnill     23     12345
For Day 2 my XML file should be like this. With 2 new columns selected in SELECT clause.

<dataTemplate name="XYZ" description="iExpenses Report" Version="1.0">
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q2">

SELECT Name
,Age
,Phone
,Address
,Salary
FROM my_table

</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataStructure>
<group name="G_my_table" source="Q2">
<element name="Name" value="Name" />
<element name="Age" value="Age" />
<element name="Phone" value="Phone" />
<element name="Address" value="Address" />
<element name="Salary" value="Salary" />
</group>
</dataStructure>
</dataTemplate>
And my Day 2, EXCEL output from RTF template should be like this.
Name     Age     Phone     Address     Salary
Swapnill     23     12345         Madrid     100000
Now, I dont know below things.
Make the XML dynamic as in on Day 1 there must be 3 columns in the SELECT statement and on Day 2, 5 columns. I want to create one dynamic XML which should not be required to be changed if new columns are added in my_table. I dont know how to create this query and also create their corresponding elements below.
Make the RTF template dyanamic as in Day1 there must 3 columns in EXCEL output and on Day 2, 5 columns. I want to create a Dynamic RTF template which would show all the columns selected in Dynamic XML.I dont know how the RTF will create new XML tags and how it will know where to place it in the report. Means, I can create RTF template on Day 1, by loading XML data for 3 columns and placing 3 XML tags in template. But how will it create and place tags for new columns on Day 2?
Hope, you got my requirement, its a challenging one. Please let me know how I can implement the required solution using RTF dynamically without any manual intervention.

Swapnil K.

Hi All,
I am able to fulfil above requirement. Now I am stuck at below point. Need your help!
Is there any way to UPDATE the XML file attached to a Data Definition (XML Publisher > Data Definition) using a standard package or procedure call or may be an API from backend? I am creating an XML dynamically and I want to attach it to its Data Definition programmatically using SQL.
Please let me know if there is any oracle functionality to do this.
If not, please let me know the standard directories on application/database server where the XML files attached to Data Definitions are stored.
For eg, /$APPL_TOP/ar/1.0/sql or something.

• Ipod freezes when playing video through dock

Okay, this is a challenging one. I will be surprised if someone can help me figure this one out, but I will be very grateful!!
Picked up a brand new 60gb 5th generation video ipod the other day. 1.1 update already installed. Everything worked great. Was able to play videos through the AV dock, no problem, and was able to hook it up to the JBL stereo for the ipod, no problem.
Here is where it gets interesting. I took an avi video from my digital camera, and used Quicktime Pro to convert it into a .mov Apple Quicktime movie. I am using Windows XP. I then imported that .mov movie into itunes. Then I right clicked on the file and told itunes to convert it into the ipod format. I then hooked the ipod up to the computer, and the video was transferred to the ipod with no problems.
Then I was able to play the video with no problem on the ipod screen (not hooked up to the AV dock). Then I inserted the ipod into the AV dock that is hooked up to my tv. I played videos this way without a problem, before I loaded this new home made video. When I played the new video, I answered Yes to Tv Out, and right after that point my ipod froze up. No video played at all. Then I had to reset my ipod.
I tried this again several times, with the same result. This was now happening with regular videos that I downloaded from itunes. Also now, when I hooked the ipod up to the JBL stereo, and just tried to play a song, the ipod would freeze up. However, songs and videos play fine when the ipod is not hooked up to a dock.
It seems to me like my home made video somehow corrupted the software drivers for the port on the ipod.
Then to fix the problem, I finally had to do the dreaded RESTORE. I could not update the ipod, because I was already at version 1.1. I tried rolling back to an earlier version, but the updater told me that the update was not compatible with my ipod.
The RESTORE did fix the problem. The ipod was completely back to normal. I could hook it up to the JBL and the AV dock with no problems. Until...yes, I tried playing the home made video again. I just wanted to see if it was a fluke. Same problem came back....arrghhh!
He is another weird observation. I can start the video playing on the ipod, without it hooked up to the dock, and answer Yes to tv out. The video starts playing, then I can insert the ipod into the dock, while it is still playing, and the video plays fine on the tv, through the dock! Until the video finishes. Once the video finishes, the ipod freezes up again.
I wonder if this is a hardware problem, and I should just return my ipod. It seems like a software problem to me. I think if it is my home made video that is corrupting my ipod, I think itunes should be smart enough to not copy something to my ipod that is going to corrupt it.
Ha..ha...wow, sorry that was very long-winded. Anyone have any suggestions?
Dell Dimension 2.8ghz P4 Windows XP 2.25GB of RAM

All I can suggest is to re-encode the video as m4v with QT Pro, there might've been a problem in encoding. Also, try sending this same video (setting TV Out to Yes) with the iPod not plugged into the dock and with an Apple RCA cable, if you have one, hooked up to a TV. If that works, the dock connector might be damaged (unlikely) but it's possible. So once you've re-encoded, see if the dock situation works then. Good luck.

• Re-running Payment run

Here is confusing and a challenging one for you.
We use the tcode F110 to pick up the to-be paid documents, create a proposal, and then run the payment for them.
We had 5 documents that were to be paid. Ran F110. Proposal worked fine. However 3 documents were cleared without corresponding checks, and the remaining two had checks against them.
We know why the checks were not created for 3 documents.
We used FBRA to reset the clearing documents( with no corresponding checks), and voided the other two checks using FCH8.
We then re-ran the same payment run, and this time it printed all the checks. But used the original clearing documents( ones that we had reset using either FBRA or FCH8). As a result, the original to-be paid 5 documents were not cleared against, and when we created a new payment run, these 5 documents were again picked up.
We had to do the same few months ago; the only difference was that we voided checks/reset the clearing documents, deleted the proposal from the original payment run and created a new payment run.
Any insight?

Hi Karthik,
The tables REGUH, REGUP and PAYR are only reflecting what we can see in the transactional screens .
My question is more business process issue. Clearing/voiding and then re-issuing should have triggered new clearing documents. And even if it uses the same old clearing documents, atleast the system should have cleared the open items.
So much so, although the checks have been issued, none of the accounts - G/L cash account and the subledger accounts have been posted to. So our cash account is overstated by the total check amount that has been issued.

• Signatures in Dynamic Forms

I created a disciplinary action form that requires multiple signatures without necessarily locking the form. While testing the form I developed two challenges; one is that Adobe X hangs up indefinately everytime I try to sign a document, the other is that I lose the ability to attach documents and toggle radio buttons.
System Config: Win7 Adobe X Pro  Reader/LiveCycle Designer ES2

What version of Acrobat and/or Reader is this? Reader-extending the document from Acrobat does not allow you to add attachments in the free Reader you'll need to use a server product to allow attachments in Reader.

• Pro Application Express book

hello,
I thought the book is even out until my brother told me after trying to order for it that it hasn't been released. To be honest, it saddened my heart. I need a real and practical oriented material urgently to help in my many projects. I hope when you finally bring it out it will answer all the questions and challenges one is facing with Apex. I wish it will address and do justice to Ajax extension and interMedia for text search implementation, apex_applications e.t.c inshort i hope your book will be really useful and helpful in developing enterprise-class applications.
I pray that Jesus and HolySpirit will help you bring it out soonest. I for one can't wait to lay my hands on this book.

Jes,
Do you have any idea when the book is likely to be published in the UK? I just looked on www.amazon.co.uk, and it simply says "Not Yet Published".
Whilst not wanting to add any more pressure, I think the book would be a welcome resource to the community.
