Change Field Width on portal

Hi
Can we change Field width on the portal even though the Character length is diferent  in ABAP.
Say, field length is defined 40 in backed. But the width of Field box should be 18 which can take 40 characters input.
Where is the customization done for that on portal

Hi,
There are 2 places you can do the customization to handle the issue:
1. Using NWDI - navigate to the DC in discussion  - Create the project and from Web Dynpro Perspective open the view which has the layout and go to the field and in the properties where there is field length change it there
2. Navigate in Portal to Content Admin - Role - iView/Page - preview the PCD object - CTRL + Right-Click the fields in discussion - Change the width over there the same is explained in detail in note 1234287
This will help to resolve the issue.

  • Changing field widths

    Hello
    I’m sure its simple, but I just don’t know.
    I recently had to increase the length of a database column. So now I also need to increase its width in several Reports. But the Reports Builder won’t let me change its width in the property inspector. It does let me change some other properties in the property inspector – but not the field’s width. Can someone please explain how one does this?
    Thanks.

    Thanks, but I'm still confused.
    As long as the "width" in the field's property inspector is set to 35, I am only seeing the first 35 of the 50 characters stored in the table. It's truncating off thee rest of the characters -- no matter how I adjust the layout. If I can't change that "width" property to match the Varchar2 length of the column, then how do I get to see all 50 characters?
    Thanks again for any help you might lend.

  • How can i change field width in ALV report

    hello,
    i have to modify vendor payment list. it is a ALv report
    proble is that when i gave vendor acc range for any month (range of posting date) it shows list,
    but for february it show run time error
    error description-  the resulting values are too large for the designated field.
    for posting dates 1.02.2009 to 25.02.09 it shows list. but when i gave posting date after 25 it doesnt show list.
    just i cant understand how to solve it.
    thanks in advance,
    Anuradha.

    Hi...
    Best option is first deside which format you want to put in that date field...
    then before filling internal table do one thing format that date field and then add into ur internal table which u later will use to show in ALV Grid Report...
    Example...Suppose you want DD.MM.YYYY
    then use
    concatenate Fieldname0(2) Fieldname2(2) Fieldname+4(4) into Fieldname...
    This way you can format the date in any format with proper logic. and ur problem getting solved

  • How do change the width of frameworkpage to 800px ?

    Hello experts,
    I want to change the width of Portal page to 800 px and display on center,
    like <a href="http://www.sinopec.com.cn/">http://www.sinopec.com.cn/</a> .
    Is there anyone had done this?
    Please give me some suggestion.

    Hi,
    You have to create your own layout and framework page using that layout and assign this layout to desktop page and assign this desktop page to an user.
    Steps to create new layout

  • How to change the width of a field?

    Hi all,
    I would like to decrease the width of a field on my report.
    But I can't do it in the Property palette. I am not able to change the width property. The width of the database column is varchar2(255). I do not want to decrease the length of the database column, but only the width property of the field.
    Any ideas?
    Regards

    As far as I knows, you can only increase the width of a
    character column. If you wish to decrease it, I would think
    you'd have to drop/delete the whole column and recreate it,
    loosing all your data in the process (unless you create a
    temporary table into which you copy the data first, and then
    copy it back into the "new" column - the oracle db will truncate
    the data automatically).
    SQL Plus is very well suited for the task, but requires you to
    write the appropriate SQL statements yourself. Other tools may
    simplify this for you (I use SQL Plus myself).
    Hope this helps.

    You can't change that from where you are trying because that info is coming from the database. To resize the field just open the layout editor and size the field to the size you want.

  • ALV Cannot change Column Width in Field Catalog

    Hi,
    I have an ALV report where I want to specifically set the field widths of the columns because some of the standard domain lengths are very large (e.g. 255 chars).
    I am building the field catalog like this:
      CLEAR gs_fieldcat.
      gs_fieldcat-col_pos      = 1.
      gs_fieldcat-fieldname    = 'NAME_ORG1'.
      gs_fieldcat-scrtext_m    = 'Employer Name'.
      gs_fieldcat-dd_outlen = 40.
      APPEND gs_fieldcat TO gt_fieldcat.
    then calling the ALV like this:
      CALL METHOD go_alv->set_table_for_first_display
        CHANGING
          it_outtab                     = gt_evm_pm_data
          it_fieldcatalog               = gt_fieldcat .
    gt_fieldcat is based on structure LVC_S_FCAT.
    However, this has no effect on the column widths.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Regards
    David

    Hi,
    please try with that.
    It will surely work.
    gs_fieldcat-outputlen = '25'.
    In quotation u can use any length whateveer u wish to display

  • It's possible to change the width of display of a field in report ?

    Hello,
    In my report , I want to increase or reduce the width of a field in Paper Design according to some values.
    I have used 'SRW.SET_BORDER_WIDTH(width)' function but it don't works.
    How can I process ?
    Regardly.

    Hello,
    The field width in the layout depends on its Horizontal elasticity and its content :
    http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/topics/htmlhelp_rwbuild_hs/rwcontxt/props/pi_lay_horizontal_elasticity.htm
    If the Horizontal elasticity is set to "Variable", the field width will be automatically adjusted to its content length.

  • How to change the width of the whole portlet layout?

    Dear all,
    As we know, now the width of portlet layout has set to 100%. But there is a new requirment from my customer that the width of the whole portlet layout view must be set to 750px.
    So I tried to edit the css file and I found a block:
    #pt-portal-content-view
         margin-top: 0px;
         width: 100%;
    I tried to change the width to 750px, but nothing happened.
    I want to know the way to change the width, thank you all!
    Regards,
    finall
    OK,I have found the place to do it:
    .portalContent          {
         display: block;
         width: 750px;
    I set to 750px,then it works.:-)
    But another question, how to make the content align to the center? I tried a stupid method, add margin-left:
    .portalContent          {
         display: block;
         width: 750px;
         margin-left: 120px;
    In 1024 X 768, it's ok, but it don't work well in 800 X 600.
    When I set the all content width to 750px, I tried the three columns view, the portlet still run over the border.If there is any way to control this? thank u in advance!
    Regards,
    finall
    Edited by finall1980 at 02/01/2007 10:09 PM

    Try this:
    .portalContent {
    display: block;
    width: 750px;
    margin: auto; /* for properly-implemented browsers */
    text-align: center; /* for IE 6 */
    As for running over the 750px, there's nothing you can do about that other than actually narrowing the columns AND making sure that your portlet authors don't produce content that's too wide.

  • Problem while changing the width of the Indesign document through inx.

    Hi Guys,
    I am facing a problem related to the width of InDesign documents. Description of the problem is as follows:-
    I have created an InDesign document with height = 700 and width = 500 and export this as an inx file (lets say Doc1.inx).
    As "Doc1.inx" is just an xml file I have made certain changes to the height and width fields of the dcoument in it. (Height =900 and Width = 600)
    For Height changes are made under following tags :- <docu>
                                                                                   <docp>
                                                                                     phgt = "U_900" ;
    For Width changes are made under tags :- <docu>
                                                                    <docp>
                                                                      pwdt = "U_600";
    Now when I opened the modified "Doc1.inx" file with InDesign the modifications for height are correctly reflected, but the width of the column doesn't gets changed. Please open the attachments to see the difference.
    Attachment contains the snap shots of documents created at step 1(Initial_Doc1.indd) and step 3(Modified_Doc1.indd).
    What should be the modifications we have to do in inx file to reflect the correct modified width of the document. Also is there any document or article which gives the correct understanding of the tags used in inx files.
    Any help will be appreciable.

    I'm having troubles getting any sensible values at all using CS -- on the other hand, you forgot to mention your version, so I figgered I could try.
    (Just as an example, setting width & height to 600 pt and 900 pt -- you don't mention your units of measure either, is it meters? inches? -- I get "phgt="u_408c2000~0" pwdt="u_4082c000~0"", which doesn't make sense. Cicero's!? [*])
    But further below, I can see some definitions for columns: count (colc="l_1") and some measurements in that same system, which I suspect to be the width and height you are looking for. You switch between describing you succesfully changed the width and height of the document, and complaining the column does not change. Apparently, the column width is defined in itself, rather than using the "document marges" you are used to in the interface itself.
    [*] On second look, I can see more hexadecimal digits in other 'numbers'. It must be hexadecimally encoded IEEE floating point numbers -- "408c2000" decodes to 4.378906, and 4082c000 to 4.085938 -- both valid floating point numbers, but still I wouldn't know in what system.
    I hope your version uses regular decimal notation!

  • How do I change the width of the "polygon splitter" line?

    I have Ultiboard v10 with all the updates.  I have been unable to find a way to shrink the size of the line that the polygon splitter function uses.  The split seems to be stuck at 0.1 inches.  Anyone know how to change this setting?  Thanks for any help.

    When you start drawing the line that will act as the polygon splitter, make the first click where you want to start... then --before you do the second click-- go to the toolbar and look for the numeric field where you can change the mils width of the trace you are drawing... change the number there and see how the splitter line changes its width... no go back to the workspace, you still have the line drawing utility on, make the second click where you want to drop it and you should see a different width split line.
    The other method is, after you make the first click to mark the beginning of the line, continue towards the place where you would like to finish that line, however, before you do a left-click to finish the line, first do a right-click and you will have an option to widen and an option to narrow.
    I prefer the first method is more precise...

  • Can't change column width

    Hi
    I'm working on an existing site (and learning as I go). I was
    just trying to get some boxes to line up in the navigation bar and
    pulled it too wide to see if my adjustements were appearing in the
    browser. Now I can't change it back to the proper size. I've tried
    changing it in the HTML, the properties, the CSS, by manually
    pulling on the box handle (it lets me go wider, but not narrower)
    and it always reverts back to the wide size.
    You can see from the screen shot that the proper width is
    showing, but the actual column width is in parenthesis. This is the
    width that I can't seem to get rid of. OK, never mind about the
    screen shot - I can't post one here, crap.
    This is what the column width looks like 147 (196). I cannot
    get rid of the 196 and when I pull the image narrower, all my code
    bounces back to 196 even though I've changed it to 147.
    I've attached the code, but I don't see what anyone can do -
    code says 147 - column width remains 196. Please help me change it!
    Also, I just saw the posting that appeared right before me on
    the same topic. My site is not live yet so I'm sorry that you can't
    look directly at the source - the old site is www.breadandlife.org
    if that helps - at least it's showing the correct navbar width.
    And padding is not the problem, already looked at that.
    Just looked at the existing site in Dreamweaver and the
    navbar is also stretching out to 196! Did I do something to change
    defaults in the navbar that is applying to all files I open? I'm
    going to close it and make sure I don't save it...
    I hope this will be a quick and easy answer for someone...

    can you try edit view--> view properties --> Text and Align tab--> select field you want to change --> check width and give number of pixels.
    HTH,
    Suma

  • Change HOME page in portal

    hello forum,
    Here is quite a newbe question I suppose..
    Is there a fairly easy method to change the content of the iViews on the HOME page in the portal?
    We wish only to change the text in the 'SAP Enterprise Portal' iView (com.sap.portal.welcome.iView) in the 'Portal Information' page. I already copied the original page and iView to a separate folder.
    Since we only need to show a simple text on this page, I think there is no need to develop a completely new iView, but instead want to change the existing iView (at least a copy of it).
    Thanks!
    Walter

    Hello M Peter,
    I was able to download the com.sap.portal.ivs.iviewservice.par.bak from the PCD; I imported it in NDS by means of 'import Portal Application Project from PAR file'; I was then able to see the contents of this file and make changes to the welcome.properties file in dist/PORTAL-INF/private/classes/. After changing the text for the 'WELCOME' field I used Create/Export PAR file to upload the changes back to the portal. One restart later leaves me with the following error after logon:
    Error occurred while trying to access desktop: "portal_content/every_user/general/defaultDesktop". The object does not exist or you are not authorized to access it. If this problem persists, contact your system administrator.
    I checked SAP note 869690 that describes this symptom; but I cannot request the default desktop by the stated URL. I created copies of the desktop and login pages in order to be able to change them, which might explain this behaviour.
    Because the only change is in the com.sap.portal.ivs.iviewservice.par service; how can I replace this file? I tried opening the original .PAR file in NDS and exporting it to the portal; but this does not change anything.
    This is a serious error; how can we restore original behaviour?
    Regards,
    Walter
