Change image to 2500 pixels on the longest side

I posted earlier but just found out how to change my dpi in an image from 300 to 72 dpi. (Can't find my earlier post.)
Now I'd like to, if possible,, In order to publish this is as a book cover on Kindle, change the number of pixels on the longest side of the image to the recommended 2500 Pixels.(Right now the image I'm interested in Is a bit more than that  on the longest side.).

Go to image>resize>image resize. It would launch a image resize dialog.
From the bottom of the dialog, choose "Resample Image". in the drop-down below, you can choose the algorithm for resampling. Since you said the image you are interested in is a bit larger than 2500, you should choose Bicubic Sharper. To know more about resampling algorithms, check the link https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/resizing.html#resample_an_image
As soon as you choose the "resample image" option, it would enable the pixel dimension area of the dialog.
change height(or width) to 2500 depending upon which side is the longest side.
click ok

  • Calculating the length of the longest side of a polygon

If you want to calculate the length of the longest side of a polygon -- for example a rectangle -- how can that be done using the standard geometrical functions of spatial in an oracle 10g2 database?
SDO_LENGHT delivers the outline of the polygon. If have looked at the LRS functions, but could not come up with a combination that delivers me what I am looking for. Any suggestion is appreciated.

What do you see as the longest side?
Is that the longest stretch between 2 consecutive vertices?
If this is the case, this sql could be of help, which could need maybe some optimisation and extension (calculates straigth distance between 2 consecutive vertices).

Everyone who logs into Facebook on my Firefox has this problem however if we use Internet Explorer - facebook looks normal.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.

  • How  do I change image resolution to 72 ppi the length pixels going lower than 1920 pixels

    Hello,
I have an image that is 2550px x 3300px with a resolution of 300.  I would like to change this to a web jpeg with a resolution of 72ppi without  changed the length resolution to less than 1920. Everytime I try changing the resolution to 72 ppi it changes the size to less than the 1920 px size needed.
    Thank you,Jan

An image has some pixels real information these make up the bulk of any image format file size.   DPI is a resolution setting that defines what the size of a pixel is. Pixels have no size till there is a resolution specified. your  2550px x 3300px resolution can be set to 72 not a single pixel will change only the size of the image will.  A device that honors resolution will now render the image 35.4" x 45.8" instead of the old 300 setting which would render the image 8.5" x 11"  This is how Image size works when resample is not checked.  If you check Resampel the number of pixels an image has will change. You will wind up with a new  image with a different number of pixels interpolated the the old image that will no longer exist not a single pixel remains of the old image.  So if you open image size on your image you will see 8.5"x11" at 300DPI.
Check resample change to pixels and change 3300 to 1920  you will see Photoshop set the width to 1484 px. and the resolution be 300DPI.
Open the image dialog again. Un-check resample and you will see Photoshop change the width and height to  4.947"x6.4" now change the 300 DPI to 72 DPI you will see Photoshop change the width and height to 20.611" x 26.667" the pixesl will remain 1484px x 1920px. This is how image size works.

  • Selection Tool off by 1 pixel on the left side in CS4?

Having a bit of an annoying problem with the selection tool in CS4. If I open a document, say 500px x 500px, and "select all", the marquee tool will appear to leave 1 pixel of space on the left side of the composition. If I manually select an area, it will appear to be offset by 1 pixel. If I hit delete, the entire 500px x 500px canvas will be deleted and will not leave the remaining 1px on the left side even though it appears as if it would. If I zoom in as close as I can, the selection tool appears to cover the entire canvas. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Master Collection and the problem is still there. I do a lot of web design where being pixel perfect is important and I could forsee this being a quite a pain. Anyone else experincing this? Really happy with the new CS4 this is the only real problem I've encountered.

Hi, I'm going to open this up again... I was hoping for a "it was a bug that was fixed - going to be fixed" kind of thing. This is the second time on 2 different Mac's that this has happened to me.
I too get the 1 pixel shift in the Marching ants, and as it may not be detrimental, it is - as most designers will agree - incredibly bothersome and ruins the flow of a project.
I've attached my system specs in hopes that someone from Adobe can say, "Oh, it's because of this, and we're working on it" Until then, maybe someone can tell me that the OpenGL options aren't really necessary, or needed for anything other than 3D.
    Other Specs: Photoshop CS4 11.0.1
    Thanks in advance!

  • How do you format image to 3600px on longest side and...?

I'm new to photoshop and am trying to format an image so that it is 3600px on the longest side and has a formate of 3:2, 2:3 or 1:1. But I have no idea how to do any of this!
    Help Please!

So, you've never used a graphics program of any kind, I gather…
Do you understand that in order to fit your image to the three different aspect ratios you mention you're going to have to crop and discard part of your image in at least two of your three cases, possibly all three?
Either that or you're going to have to distort your image by either stretching it or squeezing it.
What are the pixel dimensions of the image you're starting out with (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high) ?
What are you going to do with it?  If you're going to print it, at what size?  Or is it just to be watched on a screen?  It makes a difference as to whether you'll have to resample it.
In any case, this will involve opening your image in Photoshop, going to the Image menu and selecting the Image Size… menu item, which will bring up a dialog box into which you can input your desired values:

This thoesnt happen with other browsers like Explorer, Opera, Safari.

I suppose is not a CSS matter but in the SWF player becouse since some time ago it worked good in Firefox too and i didnt modify anything in the code!

  • I am using windows vista on a pc.  how do i use photoshop elements to increase resolution to 1920 on longest side without getting distortion

using windows vista how to use photoshop elements to increase resolution to 1920 on the longest side without distortion?

When I have the photo onscreen, the only options presented to me under File are Delete, Rename, Make copy, Copy and Properties.  It does not give Save as an option.  Not sure how to save for web.  When I go to Properties, it will not let me change the values at all.  I have tried free downloads for image resizing, but so far I have only found where they would allow me to enter lower pixel values, but not increase them.  For example, one image is now 960 pi/in X 640 pi/in.  I need to double the 960 to be 1920, and so I assume I need to also double the 640 to 1280.  But I have not found how to do that.  I am very inexperienced in any type of photoshopping, so I'm not terribly surprised to be running into problems, or even understanding what the problems are that I'm having.  Any other advice?

  • Why are my pictures from my Powershot SX130IS blurry on the left side only?

I have had my Powershot SX130Is for less than a year.  Initially it took lovely pictures.  Now all of the pictures are blurry on the left of each image.  I use the easy or auto setting.  I am very dissappointed with the picture quality.  Any suggestions?

    LibbiePayne,
I agree that making sure the lens is clean may be all that is needed here.  You can clean the lens by gently wiping it down with a soft, lint free cleaning cloth, similar to what you would typically use to clean eyeglasses.
If the images are still blurry on the left side, this may require more in-depth troubleshooting. Feel free use this Contact Us link to contact us directly if you continue to experience this issue.

  • Adobe recently downgraded the "Image Size" function in Photoshop.  How do I get back to the old utility in which I could directly input the image dimensions in pixels?

How do I undo the damage Adobe did to the Photoshop Image Size function?

    No, it's not downgraded.
You can still enter the dimensions in pixels with the current dialog.  Just check [ ] Resample and change the units to Pixels before entering the number.  Voila.
The difference in the layout just takes a little getting used to, after which it becomes very natural to use.  To me it seems more logical now than one in the old versions of Photoshop, and of course the new Preserve Details (enlargement) resampling setting is WELL worth having.

    What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

  • How can I substract 2 pixels form the same image

I would like to know which library should I use from labview 7 and/or imaq vision so that I can substract the COORDINATES of 2 PIXELS from the SAME image.
    THANKS !!!

    Hello nobuto,
never worked with IMAQ by myself, but a collegue did...
He used a function "IMAQ Select Rectangle" to select a ROI (region of interest). You could do so for your 2 pixels. This functions gives you an "IMAQ Rectangle" (a cluster of 5 elements: top, left, right, bottom, rotation). You could uncluster the needed elements and do your subtraction.
    Hope this helps.

  • This is about the still image size changing from what I see on the computer monitor and what the burned DVD shows on the TV

I have Prem.El 12 and have used PE4 for years.  I have a new PC that runs Win7Pro.  The still images on the computer monitor are within the "safe margins".  The still images after the movie has been burned to a disk are MUCH smaller on the TV screen.  Is this an issue of 16:9 vs 4:3 ratios?  My TV is 4:3.  Can I tell PE12 to make the movie a 4:3?

Although I have seen your post of today in my Inbox Email Notifications, that post has not yet appears in this thread. It will probably will sooner or later. But, to keep things moving along....this is a copy of what I am seeing as your message of today in my Indox Email Notifications
Thank you for your patience in the time it is taking me to get back to you.
I am still trying to buy some DVD-RW discs and will hopefully do that in a
bit.  Meanwhile, I have more info for you and some simple (I hope)
questions.  If you want to insert your answers, that would be fine.
My camera (for stills and video) is set to the 4:3 ratio.  It is capable of
being set to a 16:9 ratio if I wanted to do that.  I looked in its TOOLS
    menu and saw this info.
My TV is definitely a 4:3 TV.  (I measured it with my tape measure and
divided W/L to get 1.33)  The TV can show a 16:9 movie and just adds the
black bars on the top and bottom.  Question: What will my old 4:3 movies
look like on a 16:9 TV whenever we buy one of those?
It seems to me that I want to set PE12 to the NTSC DV Standard you
    mentioned.
I do NOT know how to “size your photos so that each has a 4:3 aspect”,
unless you mean doing that in Photoshop Elements, which I know how to do
    (*see below)
I had NOT considered that I would need to watch the preset for the
‘Publish+Share’ step; so that’s good to know (I copied and pasted your info
    for later use).
BTW, years ago when I had difficulties with my XP computer working on PE4
(had only 2 GB RAM), an Adobe tech told me to resize my photos * to have a
720 pixel width (the height would be automatically adjusted) to lower the
file size to something my computer could handle without crashing.  (That
was back in the good ol’ days when Adobe support would actually talk with
their customers and try to help them in the first month)
My new computer has 16GB RAM.  Do you think I still need to reduce file
size?  One does lose some sharpness in the resizing process…..however,
these videos I’m making are travelogues and are for a fun way to view pics
and videos of a trip…nothing Earth shattering….and just a hobby to keep me
    off the streets.
I truly appreciate the time you take to help me (and others).  I was even
tempted to try to install my old PE4 on my new computer just to be able to
    enjoy my hobby again.
    My reply to the above....
    1. If you camera is giving you 4:3 photos and your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, then leave
the photos as is unless you have a lot of photos and each has pixel dimensions sizes way over 1920 x 1080 pixels that are giving your computer resource issues. If you have to down size them because of computer resources, then copy the photos to a computer desktop folder and also create an empty folder on the computer desktop.
    a. Photoshop Elements Editor, File Menu/Process Multiple Files.
    Process Files form Folder
Source - browse to and select the computer desktop folder with photos to be resized
Destination - browse to and select the empty computer desktop folder
    Image Size
Check Mark Next To Resize Images
(no check mark next to Constrain Proportions)
Type in Width = 1000  (set units for pixels)
Type in Height = 750 (set unites for pixels)
    File Size
Check Mark Next to Convert Files To
               Set for JPEG High Quality
The above should work fine for a NTSC DV Standard project with a burn to DVD disc with preset NTSC_Dolby DVD (4:3 video).
    2. With regard to the TV Set and 16:9 video....when you have the DVD-player attached to the TV, do you have the opportunity to bring up a display of menus with
controls for Picture and Aspect Ratio? From what you have written so far, it looks like the answer is no. I am not sure how your TV DVD
    player will handle 16:9.
Best do a mini test run
    1. Project preset set manually to NTSC DV Widescreen (please refer to post 1 link)
    A few photos sized for 1600 x 1200
In the Premiere Elements project, use the Safety Margins inner rectangle for text placement
    Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
See what that looks like on your TV DVD player.
If you discovered that your current TV DVD player can be set for a 16:9 display, then I have a preferred workflow for
NTSC DV Widescreen which typically gives best possible results. Hints of things to come.
Please review and consider. Thanks for the follow ups.
