Change portal URL to be oen which can be easy to remember

Dear Experts-
I am trying to change the portal URL
from htttp://sapdev.company.com:50000/irj/portal
htttp://ess.company.com
I followed the wiki below.
Here it suggest to change to default ports. I dont want to change the ports.

This will give users a more user friendly URL and this possible. We are already using this type of portal url (ex:) for Prod system.

Hello experts,
We are on EP 7.0 which is running on Solaris 5.10 and Oracle 10g.
Portal url is "http://hostname:50200/irj".
But we want to users to logon portal using "http://intranet" link.
How can we forwards portal default url to a different URL and port such as "http://intranet".
Steps should be followed in Visual Admin& Config Tool or in the Solaris system , in the network part?

The link pointed to how to change the default page of the Java engine to launch the portal. The example redirects to /irj/portal/anonymous - you just want to make it /irj/portal...
Setting up SAP Web Dispatcher is covered in SDN quite well - search for SAP Web Dispatcher in the search aree on the right. Basically it takes about 5 minutes to setup.

If you check SDN home page you´ll see that almost every link changes the url site but the content is display in content area ( do not change the page completly). I was wondering how that could be done as my EP has always the same URL.

We can also create a unique url for every page or iview.
There is a property called Quick Link which exists for every page/iview
Let us say open a page as object and set the Quick Link property as 'abc'
Then you can access that page directly from the url // http://<yourhostname>:<portno>/irj/portal/abc

Changing your URL...in a language I can understand.

Could someone please tell me what I need to do to change my URL feed. Currently I am using Podbean but have used up all the bandwidth allowed for 'free' users. I have now created a website using iweb which will support the podcast, yet no matter how many times I read 'Changing Your Feed' in the podcast help sheet, I am still as baffled as ever.

You have to have access to the feed file, and I'm not sure whether Podbean allows this.
The feed file is a text file, with an extension .xml, in a particular format which contains all the information about your podcast. It is this file which you submitted to iTunes.
If you don't know the URL of this file you can find it by subscribing to your podcast from the Store page, then in the 'Podcasts' section of iTunes clicking on the podcast (not an episode) and then on the 'i' button which appears at the right. The pane which pops up will show the URL of your feed; you will need to type it out.
You need to be able to access this feed and add the following line to it below the 'channel' tag:
<itunes:new-feed-url>URL OF YOUR NEW FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
The URL must be complete with the leading http://
When the feed is re-uploaded with this tag added, iTunes will (after a time) change to the new feed. You should leave the old feed in place for a couple of weeks to allow any subscribers to catch up with the change.
However, though I'm not familiar with Podbean I suspect that they create and host the feed file and don't allow you access to it. If this is the case you cannot redirect iTunes to your new feed.
This means you are rather stuck, and have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner back to this forum: however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck you you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

In the given example you just need to change the database URL and the JDBC driver. Just examine the code a little bit.

our portal runs on an windowshost. At the moment we access the portal through the windows hostname. but we need to change the url to an internet address.
My question where can i configure the url the portal uses in his links? Where can it be set up or does it just use the windows related hostname ?

Hi Francesco.
You will have to use a reverse proxy such as SAP IISProxy or Apache to use a different URL then the one the portal uses internally.
If you setup a DNS record that points to the Windows server, you could run into trouble with SSO and KM.
There are many threads about this in the SDN, try to search for "external facing portal" or "reverse proxy".

So over the year we had to create a website for our organisation, company, ...
But I failed in that so they gave me an other chance but now I have to use the same website but
it isn't for the same project. Now I have to make a website for an other company.
So I wanted to ask if I can change the url somehow?

If not, I'm afraid that we do not understand your question. Can you be specific as to which URL you want to change? If you are asking if you can reuse the code you created for one website and make another based on that, the answer is yes.

I have a case. I have made my service running on SOAP UI and generated a proxy after appending the endpoint URL of WSDL to SOAP URL. Now if my service deploys at any other location can i change my URL of proxy to that location without regenerating the proxy again??

You can do this it you use a wrapper around the original code and e.g. supply a new endpoint and use this.
Take a look into the class which implements the service. There you find the 'wsdlLocationURL' and how it is build (normally static). You can use this code as a template and build your own new endpoint.

I am trying to change or add the email address which is attached to my itunes account. I keep getting a notice saying email address is already verified for another Apple ID. Im sure its one of my devices. How can I get my current email address added?

My itunes account is attached to an email account that I no longer have and cannot retrieve. I have been having trouble with purchases made to my itunes account and want to view my purchases. The support center said that they would email me the purchase history. However, I don't have that email address. When I go to change my email address to my current one, I get a message in red saying that "the email address is already verified for another Apple I.D." I'm sure it is one of my devices as we have 4 ipods and 2 iphones. How can I get my account to use my current email address? If one of my devices was registered using my current email address as it apparently was, do I need to figure out which device that is and remove the email address from that account? I'm so confused. I just want ALL my devices to use my current email address. I need to replace the old email address with my current one. How do I do that?

Your best bet would be to try resetting the password to the account that you would like to use via iForgot
Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account.

You must add the itunes redirect tag within the <channel> element of your feed. Its doubtful that a 3rd party app would support this tag, but its possible. If you have access to the actual xml file, you can add the redirect feed manually using any text editor.

The itunes redirect tag simply tells iTunes users where your podcast has been moved to, and updates their local settings accordingly. The next time they visit your podcast, they will go directly to your new feed specified in the redirect tag.
For non-iTunes users, the itunes redirect tag doesn't help. Thats where the 301 redirect comes in, however it is a bit complicated depending on the type of host your podcast is on. If you don't want to tackle the 301 redirect, keep reading.
One method of updating non-iTunes users...if you can still post an episode to your old feed, then one option is to post a text file that directs people to your new feed. You could also post a brief audio clip stating the same thing. Leave this episode up for a couple of weeks and then kill your old feed.

Is this your machine or the company's? Machines that came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed come with system and software install disks that can be used to reisntall the iApps that came with the machine orignally.
If this is your machine and it came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed the disk will look slimialr to one of these:
If it is the company's machine see if they have the disks.
Do a custom install and then use Software Update to update iPhoto to the highest version that is available.

something like an options/configure button which opens another window and helps us to change tha parameters of that particular

Well, you will need to program your application that way. Maybe I am not understanding this correctly but what parameters do you want to change in your standalone application?
