Change SQL Server User
Hello Everybody
We are implementing security over our SQL Servers (MS SQL Servers). Actually, we are using the "sa" user to connect SAP to the SQL Server and now we need to change it to use an exclusive user for SAP.
We have installed SAP Business One 8.81 (8.81.315) PL: 07. Anyone has an idea of where could I change the configuration of the SAP's connection to our SQL Server?

Replication stopp after change changing SQL Server Agent User
Hi,
I tryed to change the user for SQL Server Agent on my Distributor. We use pushed transaction replications. But after i changed the user, all replications stopped:
ERROR: (from SQL Monitor)
The job failed. The Job was invoked by Start Sequence 0. The last step to run was step 3 (Detect nonlogged agent shutdown.).
The new user is a domainusert too, and had administrative rights on the server. I changed the user to start SQL Server Agent on other servers without error.
Can anybody tell me, how to change the user on a distributor, without stopping all replications?

You are likely running into a permissions issue.
Verify the Log Reader Agent process account is db_owner in the distribution database and that the account used to connect to the Publisher is db_owner in the publication database.
Verify the Distribution Agent process account is db_owner in the distribution and subscription databases, is a member of the PAL, and has read permissions on the snapshot share.

After
sql server 2012 installation, I attached my production db. Because of some reasons, i
changed sql engine account from network service user to system user by means of sql server configuration manager.
Now , there isn’t
a problem at sql server running system. But
I have doubts that
this can produce problems later. Because sql server database engine account must have privileges that listed below;
Log on as a service (SeServiceLogonRight)
Replace a process-level token (SeAssignPrimaryTokenPrivilege)
Bypass traverse checking (SeChangeNotifyPrivilege)
Adjust memory quotas for a process
(SeIncreaseQuotaPrivilege)
Permission to start SQL Writer
Permission to read the Event Log service
Permission to read the Remote Procedure Call service
While sql server installation, setup gives these
privileges to network service user automatically, but changing user by means of sql confugarition manager does not give these
privileges.
Now, system user has privileges listed below. And sql server has been running for 1,5 months without any problems.
Log on as a service (SeServiceLogonRight)
Bypass traverse checking
(SeChangeNotifyPrivilege) (Everyone user has his privileges. So i think that system user has this privilege also)
What problems can occur because of this situation? Shall i give other privileges to system user and restart sql server or not? And how can i give these privileges to system user listed below;

Change SQL Server Agent service account
How can I change the SQL Server Agent service account from NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT to a domain user? and most importantly is what permissions I have to give that domain user?
I know that when SQL Server setup, the installer gives the domain user (that we choose to run a SQL Server service) the least privileges required, but my case is that I chose NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT and
now I want to change it to domain user so I can run successfully jobs that execute something on another SQL Servers.
If I JUST change the service account in the SQL Server Agent Properties window to a normal domain user, this is not enough and non of the jobs (even that execute local jobs) will work ...
So what privileges I should give that domain user to be able to run ALL jobs successfully?Thanks Andreas ... yes it seems that my problem is not what I was thinking.

please note that 'MYDOMAIN\JobOwnerUser'
is a sysadmin on both SQL Servers -

As I understand, you're basically interesting in the situation where users are connected to the database and they are using the database at the time you change the database recovery mode. It is highly recommended not to change the recovery mode while users
are using the database, especially do not use any bulk operation!

How to change SQL Server security groups name after server rename?
A Windows 2003 server has been renamed from LAMDAMIRROR1A to LAMDAMIRROR2A and the following
sql has been run in SQL Server 2008 R2 on the server :
exec sp_dropserver 'LAMDAMIRROR1A'
exec sp_addserver 'LAMDAMIRROR2A','local'
However, although everything appears ok, the 5 Windows 2003 Groups (automatically created by
the SQL 2008 R2 Install) still contain 'LAMDAMIRROR1A' in their name. Does this matter ? Can the Windows Groups be just renamed (right click , rename) or will this cause problems ?
The Windows Groups are :
SQLServer2005SQLBrowserUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
SQLServerDTSUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A
SQLServerMSSQLServerADHelperUser$LAMDAMIRROR1A

If you have executed the sp_dropserver and sp_addserver in SQL Server 2008 R2, we need to verify if you renamed the SQL Server instance successfully. You can select information from @@SERVERNAME or sys.servers to verify if the renaming operation is completely
successful in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). If yes, whether you change the registry entries containing the old 'LAMDAMIRROR1A' name or not, there’s no impact on SQL Server Services. For more details, please review this article:

i have a sharepoint deployment with one SQL Server (running on VM) hosting the config DB and another SQL Server (Physical Host because VM was running out of space) to host the huge Content DBs. I need to schedule automatic backups of the Content DBs to a
network share. For that i need to run the SQL Server Service with an account having permissions to the share as suggested in https://support.microsoft.com/kb/207187?wa=wsignin1.0
I tried changing the logon as a service account to a domain
account which has permissions to the Network Share and is also in local Administrators group of SQL Server and has "public and sysadmin" roles in SQL Server but that caused an issue. the SharePoint Web Application started showing a White Screen so
I had to revert back to the default accounts i.e. NT Service\SQLSERVERAGENT and NT Service\MSSQLSERVER. I viewed the event logs . These are the types of error i got after changing the logon as a service account to a domain account

According to your description, you get the above two errors when scheduling backups of Content DB. Right?
Based on those two error messages, they are related to the service principal name(SPN) for SQL Server service. Please verify the if the SPN is registered successfully. You can view it in ADSI Edit or use command line. Please see:

When installing SQL Server, those two services below should be registered:
MSSQLSvc/servername:1433
MSSQLSvc/servername
Please check if those SPNs or duplicated SPNs exist. You can use command to reset SPN or remove duplicated SPN and add new one. See:

We have also met this issue when this SPN is registered under Administrator. Please try to register it under Computer. You can add it in ADSI Edit.

Change SQL server instance collation after Sharepoint installation
Installed Sharepoint 2013 with the SQL Server 2012 db instance using the default collation Latin1_General_CI_AS. SQL is just used for Sharepoint 2013. the system is not released yet for production Run the installation and configurations and database
attach for all content databases. all content dbs were created by SP with proper collation Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS, as well as search, UP and all service applications.
Would like to change the SQL collation for the instance to Latin1_General_CI_AS_KS_WS(as

2. Script logins
3. recreate instance collation

5. since it is preproduction not need msdb also model can remain as recreated by setup

SharePoint - Changed SQL Server but DPM still References Old One
Hello
I have changed my SQL Server for SharePoint 2010 from Server1 to Server2. Everything is working OK. So I need to re-setup DPM as it is referencing the old instance.
I have uninstalled the protection agent for SharePoint on my Web Front End. I have re-installed it and when I go to set up the protection group it displays the SharePoint config as Server1 whereas it now sits on Server2.
Any ideas?!
I am using DPM 2012 SP1.

How to find who has changed SQL Server Agent 'Job History' settings.
Hi all,
I was searching from couple of days to know is there a way to find out who has changed the SQl agent property settings.
Like if someone unchecks the SQL Agent History settings how i can find who has done that change?
I searched for trace flags but there is nothing related to it, i searched for system tables and views of msdb but nothing which can give this information, even didn't find any audit setting that can monitor these activities.
My sql version is SQL Server 2008. Please throw your ides on how to track the sql agent history setting changes!!!

You might be able to AUDIT the execute on that SP but its not giving exactly what has been changed... i guess you are getting what i am looking for...
whatever the property might be changed it only shows the sp name thats it.... but not the exact sql statement executed on background

So please first clear up, what you really need.
Third: instead of Auditing I already gave the advise to use Tracing (be it SQLTrace or Extended Events). Both will give you the exact statement. SQLTrace may be easier on SQL2008
Please try all of the provided first before doing guesswork.

CR-11.5/ODBC-Changing SQL-Server Database in same instance
I'm using CR 11.5 against SQL-Server 2005. In the same SQL-Server default instance, I have both Demo and Production databases. I've used both the SQL-Server Native ODBC driver, and the OLE/ADO driver as a trial. Some of my reports have used the standard Table selection method to generate the SQL; others have needed a Command script due to embedded subqueries.
My problem is getting a Demo reports changed over to Production reports. If I make up an original Demo ODBC connection against the Demo database, and then make up a new Production ODBC connection against the same instance but against the Production database, the Data Source will change over to the newly named ODBC connection, but the Database remains pointed at the previous Demo database despite the new ODBC connection telling it to do otherwise.
This seems particularly troublesome with the standard Table reports as the the new connection Database properties have to be changed to Production as well as the Database properties for every single table.
Also, is it possible to use just one ODBC connection and force the change by changing the default database from Demo to Production and updating the data?
Am I missing something here?
