DECLARE @dt AS VARCHAR(10)='201401'
SELECT CAST(@dt+'01' AS DATE) dt1, EOMONTH(CAST(@dt+'01' AS DATE)) dt2,
       CAST(@d AS DATE)
Regarding the first one, you need to use SUBSTRING function to put the year as first four characters , case expression for NOV =11 and so on,,

  • Change string into Date?

    Hi guys
    I am writing a voice web application. My problem is when i speak the date it gets inserted into the textbox as a number e.g. 01012005 however when i pass this to my jsp then i get an error cause this not a valid date format.
    Can you help me change the number into a date e.g. insert / to split the day month and year up? so i can insert it into my database.
    Thanks

    You could use java.text.SimpleDateFormat to convert Strings to Date and back.
            SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("ddMMyyyy");
            Date d = sdf.parse("01012005");ram.

  • How to convert string into date datatype

    hi! there
    i've a date in string format like MM/dd/yyyy
    eg:String sDate = "01/30/2002";
    and i want to convert this string format into java date format
    same as 01/30/2002 only
    when i write like this
    SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat ("MM/dd/yyyy");
              String sDate = "1/11/2002";
              java.util.Date oDate = formatter.parse(sDate);
    i'm getting the output
    Fri Jan 11 00:00:00 GMT+05:30 2002
    i just want the out put like 01/30/2002
    plz,help me

    Hi,
    Just use back the SimpleDateFormat object you defined.
    String myDateInStr = formatter.format(oDate);
    this will format a java.util.Date object to a string representation according to the format you specified in the instantiation of SimpleDateFormat object.

  • Change "String" into data type "Date"

    Hi,
    I have created a report containing several date fields for a plan/actual comparison. The connection is built up by using the jdbc connector.
    My problem is that the date fields are only displayed as String, but I actually want them to be displayed as Date type.
    Here an example:
    Right now the date fields are displayed like this "20060411"
    but I want them to be displayed like this ("11/04/2006", or similar).
    I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this problem!
    Cheers
    Thomas

  • Can I change String`s colour?

    Is it possible to change colour of the string displayed on the console?
    Like
    System.out.println(str);
    newColouredStr = <change colour to str>
    System.out.println(newColouredStr)
    thnx,
    Dragan

    Actually I dont know. It is made in Java (maybe just one part, maybe whole program), and I can use 2 methods to sent string(or data) to user`s chat window:
    public void sendText(boolean encrypted,
    java.lang.String text)
    Sends text to the other party.
    Parameters:
    encrypted - Whether or not the text should be encrypted. True if encrypted; false otherwise. Not relevant if the IM session was not set to be encrypted.
    text - The text to be sent.
    See Also:
    ImListener.textReceived(com.lotus.sametime.im.ImEvent)
    public void sendData(boolean encrypted,
    int dataType,
    int dataSubType,
    byte[] data)
    Sends data to the other party.
    Parameters:
    encrypted - Whether or not the text should be encrypted. True if encrypted; false otherwise. Not relevant if the IM session was not set to be encrypted.
    dataType - The type of the data.
    dataSubType - The subtype of the data.
    data - The message data.
    See Also:
    ImListener.dataReceived(com.lotus.sametime.im.ImEvent)
    And I used first one.

    i am receiving the data through the rs232 in labview and i have to store the data in to the word or text file only if there is a change in the data. I have to scan the data continuasly. how can i do that. I was able to store the data into the text or word file but could not be able to do it.  I am gettting the data from rs232 interms of 0 or 1.  and i have to print it only if thereis a change in data from 0 to 1. if i use if-loop , each as much time there is 0 or 1 is there that much time the data gets printed. i dont know how to do this program please help me if anybody knows the answer

    I have attatched the vi.  Here in this it receives the data from rs232 as string and converted into binery. and indicated in led also normally if the data 1 comes then the led's will be off.  suppose if 0 comes the corresponding data status is wrtten into the text file.  But here the problem is the same data will be printed many number of times.  so i have to make it like if there is a transition from 1 to o then only print it once.  how to do it.  I am doing this from few weeks please reply if you know the answer immediatly

  • How do I use AppleScript to Change the Creation Date to the Current Date?

    I sorted my downloads folder by creation date and found that the items were sorted seemingly randomly. On closer inspection, I saw that the creation dates were not the same as the dates that I downloaded the items, so I figures that Snow Leopard was using the date given to it by the server.
    In order to get the items sorted by download date, I figured I'd use Hazel, but it doesn't have a “change creation date” item. It does, however, have an “run AppleScript” item.
    So my question is this: how do I use AppleScript to change the creation date of an item to the current date?

    TC (Techno Cat) wrote:
    Okay, I tried changing the creation date with SetFile, but it kept giving me an error:
    What am I doing wrong?
    Looks like the date and time was not quoted
    Try this Applescript. It will change the creation date of every file in the Downloads folder to the current date and time:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #E6E6EE;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the AppleScript Editor">
    set current_date_and_time to do shell script "date \"+%m/%d/%Y %H:%M\""
    tell application "Finder"
    set filelist to every file of the alias (the path to downloads folder as text)
    repeat with currentFile in filelist
    do shell script "/usr/bin/SetFile -d " & quoted form of current_date_and_time & space & quoted form of POSIX path of (currentFile as string)
    end repeat
    end tell</pre>

  • How to compare the date value with the date datatype column?

    Hi,
    I am executed a query to get output for the particular date in two different database.
    I got output in one db environment, but in the another environment i didnt get the output.
    APP_DECISION_DATE column contains date datatype
    ex:
    SQL> select DECISIONED_STAGE_ID,DECISIONED_STAGE_USER_ID from naap10_application where APP_DECISION_DATE = TO_DATE('23-JAN-07',
    'DD-MON-YY'); 2
    DECISIONED_STAGE_ID DECISIONED_STAG
    2006060106 SYSTEM
    DATABASE - II
    SQL> select DECISIONED_STAGE_ID,DECISIONED_STAGE_USER_ID from naap10_application where APP_DECISION_DATE=
    TO_DATE('31-JAN-2007','DD-MON-RRRR') and application_id=2007010028552;
    no rows selected
    in the same db i got the output while i used the TO_DATE(APP_DECISION_DATE)
    SQL> select DECISIONED_STAGE_ID,DECISIONED_STAGE_USER_ID from naap10_application where TO_DATE(APP_DECISION_DATE)=
    TO_DATE('31-JAN-2007','DD-MON-YYYY') and application_id=2007010028552; 2
    DECISIONED_STAGE_ID DECISIONED_STAG
    2006060113 SYSTEM
    is it necessary to use TO_DATE function while i am using the data datatype column in the WHERE CLAUSE?
    Thanks in advance.
    siva

    Sorry & thanks sathish,
    Now i got the result.
    SQL> select DECISIONED_STAGE_ID,DECISIONED_STAGE_USER_ID from naap10_application where APP_DECISION_DATE BETWEEN TO_DATE ('31.01.2007 00:00:00', 'DD.MM.YYYY HH24:MI:SS') AND TO_DATE ('31.01.2007 23:59:59', 'DD.MM.YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    2 and application_id=2007010028552;
    DECISIONED_STAGE_ID DECISIONED_STAG
    2006060113 SYSTEM
    ================================
    But one doubt,
    When i created the column with the date datatype how it gets the time value,
    And in one environment db i got the result but in another environment i dont get,
    Shall i want to change any session status of date?

  • Database Variant to Data.vi not working for the Date datatype with LV 8.2?

    I'm moving a large body of LV database code from LV 7.1 to 8.2 and find that the Database Variant to Data.vi is not working correctly when used with the Date datatype. It works fine with 8.0, and the common Variant to Data works also. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Wes

    Thanks for the prompt reply Crystal,
    The data is stored in an Oracle database using the DATE type. I'm querying many rows along with other columns and converting each of the values as necessary for each column with the 'Database Variant to Data' vi. Only conversion to Timestamp is no longer working as of version 8.2. I recognize that plain Variant to Data works but I have many (100's) of VIs to change if that is the only solution (not the end of the world). Most often the dates are originally generated in the database using PL/SQL procedures calling SYSDATE which look like: 5/1/2006 11:56:26 AM (in TOAD anyway) which I then need to read into LV as type Timestamp.

    This seems to be your specific network configuration.  It seems that your corporate network is blocking HTTPS requests which don't use port 443. Your ABAP system is configured to use a port other than 443. Either talk to your basis admins about changing your ABAP system configuration to use port 443 or talk to your network administrators to allow whichever port the ABAP system is running on.

  • Formatting incoming string with date/time classes?

    Hello,
    In the software I am writing currently I am @ a certain point talking to an external device. sending requests, receiving responses.
    One of the things I find in the response is "20090429094222", as a string.
    I cannot change anything to that, thats the way I get it from the device, so thats where I'll have to start with.
    As you could probably guess this is a date and a time. Now my question. Is there a good way to format this from 20090429094222
    to
    2009-04-29 09:42:22
    using date and or time classes, not using String operations?
    Thanks in advance.

    I found a class containing 2 functions who do exactly what I need, for those intrested:
    public static Date convertStringToDate(String txtFormat, String txtDate) {
            DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat(txtFormat);
            Date date =  dateFormat.parse(txtDate);
            return date;
    public static String formatDate(Date date, String txtFormat) {
            DateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat(txtFormat);
            String txtDate = dateFormat.format(date);
            return txtDate;
        }Using them this way gives me exactly what I want:
    Date dt = DateUtil.convertStringToDate("yyyyMMddHHmmss", incomingDateSTring);
    String newDateString = DateUtil.formatDate(dt, "yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss");Problem solved, thanks alot to those who gave me some explanation on the problem.

  • Enforce date datatype in oracle 11g

    Can I restrict database so that application can not enter date data in certain format.
    E.g. If I want that date enter should be registered in [year to minute] 'MM-DD-YYYY' hh:mm' only format and not in [year to second format]'MM-DD-YYYY' hh:mm:ss' then how I can do it in Oracle 11g.
    Currently I am using oracle sql developer to create data model and then I want to generate DDL from that to generate database. Is there is any facility in Oracle SQL developer to enforce format specification.
    thanks!

    This is not really related to SQLDeveloper, so you may find better answers in another forum but I'll try to give you an idea anyway.
    Actually the DATE datatype has no format, you use a format when you convert it to a string or vice versa, but the DATE itself is just a DATE.
    You could probably create a trigger to truncate your data as you see fit, but IMHO your best option would be to remove the seconds from your output queries using something like
    TO_CHAR(YOUR_DATE_FIELD,'MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI')you can also set this output format for SQLDeveloper in
    Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> NLSbut this will work only for SQLDeveloper, it's up to you to determine the best way of setting the output/input date format in your specific application.

    Red Line? Sounds ominous. I wonder what it means.
    So...what does the error say?
