Change the cardinality of a database diagram

Is it possible to change the cardinality in the database diagram. I tried double clicking the lines etc nothing worked. the default that comes up when i put a foreign key is not always right.

Hi
When you draw the FK between 2 tables the cardinality is semantically defined depending on the optionality of the foreign key columns in the FK constraint.
When the Create Foreign Key dialog appears it defaults to creating a new column in the FK table. By default this is set as optional so the FK is created as 0..1:M. If you wish you can check the 'Set new columns to Not Null' box and the cardinality is set as 1:M. You cannot use the diagram to change that cardinality.
It is not semantically possible to have a M:M in the database and therefore you cannot model this in the diagram (you are doing Physical modeling in the diagrammer)
It's not possible to change the cardinality in the diagram and have the underlying optionality of the FK columns change. But I have requested this as a result of your question.
Many thanks for the question

    I would like to change the nls_sort of a database, Is there a way to do it?
    If it is not possible, If I changed the nls_sort of the tables it would work too... But I do not know how to do this, neither.
    Thank you very much if you can help me,

  • How can I change the cardinality of Model Node?

    Hi everybody
    How can I change the cardinality of Model Node?
    Previous:
    I import a Model RFC, and some nodes has the cardinality 0..1, but with this configuration, when I bind to the text fields of my webdynpro and deploy, all my fields text are unables when I shows the webdynpro.
    I check RFC and all the fields and estructures are obligatories.

    Hi Jesus,
    You cannot change the cardinality of the model node. All  the properties of the Model node are derived from the Model object.
    Your input fields are disabled because you are not creating your model object properly.
    You can import the example project TutWD_FlightList, which is available in c:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse\examples.
    Import it in NWDS and you can see how to initialize model object properly.

  • How can I change the hostname after Oracle Database XE is installed?

    I currently have XE installed and working on my ubuntu machine.
    When I change the hostname of my machine, oracle database no longer connects and says "ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor".
    Can anyone tell me how I can change the hostname of my machine and keep oracle database working correctly?
    Thanks

    Stopping, reconfig, starting the instance is one way, although that is somewhat like using petrol to kill ants.
    The database instance pretty much does not care about the hostname setting. But the listener does- the installer finds the hostname and uses that in the setup bits.
    As posted somewhere here, when using the 1521 default listener port, the listener.ora config file can just be moved out of the way. Another potential fix is setting the HOST=0.0.0.0 for the IPv4 "any IP" address setting, or setting it to the correct hostname. Or HOST= can be set to IPv4 address. For IPv6, have to use HOST=<hostname> and it must resolve, can't HOST=... an IPv6 address.
    To move the listener file, stop the listener first. To change a HOST=... setting, also stop the listener first.
      lsnrctl stop
      mv $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.bk0
      # or
      vi $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora
      # change HOST=<whatever> to the correct value, or 0.0.0.0
      lsnrctl start
      sqlplus /nolog
      conn system
      ... password ... Connected.
      alter system register;
      exit
      # start the lsnr
      lsnrctl start
      # check the status, services
      lsnrctl stat
      lsnrctl serv

  • Change the default encoding in Database

    Hi everyone:
    Here is a big problem in our project and I think one of you can help us.
    Our new system will be a multi-language system. So the DBA set the db encoding into American_America.UTF8. But our business users just use the encoding type American_America.ZHS16GBK. That means we will insert GBK encoding character into the UTF8 database. But such setting will let my Report make some unreadable characters.
    Can anyone tell me how to solve such problem. Thanks.

    Thank you. But I think you misunderstand what I mean. I think if the Database is set to UTF8 and I insert the UTF8 encoding multi-language characters into it, my report will work well. That means the UTF8 database support any character but these character should be inserted in UTF8 format then the Report will work.
    But in my solution, the database is UTF8. If I insert the UTF8 character, my report will work well Oracle Report will translate it to GBK or JIS. If I insert the GBK character into such database, Oracle Report will do the SAME TRANSLATION and make the characters unreadable. What I want is to provent such translation.

  • How to create one to one relation in database diagram

    Hi!
    I'd like to create a database diagram in JDeveloper 10g. Is there any possibility to create a one-to-one relation between two tables?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    This seems to be the same problem that I am having. I was trying to create a database diagram with tables imported from the database. I have two tables having a 1 --> 0..1 relationship. However when I pulled these tables on to a database diagram , it displayed as a 1 --> * relationship. I also realized that JDeveloper does not allow you to change the cardinality in a database diagram.
    As a workaround, I created a class diagram and named the classes the same as the database tables. Then I used UML connectors to show the relationships with the correct cardinality. Since I did not need to show the column names on the diagram, it was sufficient for my purpose. I hope this bug is fixed soon, otherwise I will have to use some other tool to create database diagrams.

  • Database Diagram Cardinality in 11g

    I am creating a database diagram in jdev 11g, I can drop foreign key relationships between the table objects, but they always default to * to 0..1
    and I can't seem to see a way to change the cardinality. Anyone know how this is done.
    Orlando

    Hi,
    It depends which method you are using to create the FK and the makeup of the underlying columns of the key
    Also depends which is your 'source' and 'target' table (when drawing the FK or dragging columns) - source is the '1' side and target is the 'm'
    Using the diagrammer you cannot explicitly select the FK line and change the cardinality
    Try doing the following in the diagram and see the differences in cardinality:
    1. create 2 tables (a, b) with no PK defined
    select the FK object in the drawing palette -click on a and drag to b
    the Create FK dialog opens and you can create a PK based on any col in 'a' and the same col in 'b' will be used as the FK column (if it doesn't exist in 'b' it will be created.
    This is 0..1:M
    2. select the FK line and delete it
    mark what was the FK column in 'b' as 'connot be null'
    select the FK object - again drag from 'a' to 'b'
    same FK is created - but this time, as FK column in 'b' is not null - cardinality is 1:m
    3. delete the FK again
    select the PK reference in 'a' and drag it to 'b'
    FK is created in 'b' - 0..1:m and a new column is created for the FK
    but if you double click on the FK in 'b' and change the Local Column to the original FK column (that is not null) the cardinality will change to 1:m
    (note - click next to col name and a dropdown will appear to allow you to select another column)
    4. delete the FK and also delete the PK from 'a'
    select a column from 'a' and drag to 'b'
    UK is created in 'a' and a FK in 'b' with 0..1:m cardinality
    Hope this helps

  • OEM Can't get to database after changing the port on the database

    Hello OEM Gurus!
    I had to change the port on a database(11g) from 1521 to 1526. I adjusted the listeners to include the SID (finapp1t) in the listener listening on port 1526. I removed the SID from OEM (10g btw) and rediscovered it. It successfully rediscovered.
    Now I receive the following when I attempt to go into "tablespaces" or "tables" on the FINAPP1T database page:
    Listener refused the connection with the following error: ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor The Connection descriptor used by the client was: (description=(address=(host=urora2t.unioncentral.com)(protocol=tcp)(port=1521))(connect_data=(sid=finapp1t)(server=dedicated)))
    I then clean started the Agent on the server but I get the same results.
    OEM seems to think that that database FINAPP1T is still using port 1521. I can connect to the database on port 1526 from my Desktop so I know the listener sees this database.
    How do I tell OEM to update the port ?
    Thanks for you help!

  • Failed to open the connection after changing the connection in CMC

    Hi
    Below are our environment details:
    BOXI 3.1 SP3
    Solaris Sparc 10
    Crystal Reports 2008 Sp3
    Weblogic 11g
    Our team is facing the problem as described below:
    We have created Crystal Reports using JDBC connection and it works fine
    in an environment(SIT).
    When we migrate these reports to the another environment(UAT) we get
    the error "Failed to open the connection"
    After migrating we indeed change the connection to Custom Database
    Login Information in CMC.
    So to troubleshoot we installed Crystal Reports in UAT environment and
    had to perform Set DataLocation after which
    the reports starting working fine.
    Now when we are migrating reports to Production we have the same issue.
    We cannot install Crystal Reports on Production this time and hence we
    are stuck.
    Please let us know if any known workaround or solution for the same.
    Thanks

    Hi Meenal,
    I am not 100% sure I understood the workaround of having Crystal Designer on the server. Can you connect from UAT designer to production and perform the same operation?
    Check this KBA that describes this problem and a solution:

    <p>Justin,</p>

    Thank you for the reply. Time constraints have not allowed me to post back to this tread
    till now. I will try your suggestion. My assumption is that <i>Save the report back to the
    info store</i> refers to <span class="code">IInfoStore.commit(IInfoObjects)</span>.
    </p>
    <p>
    I'm afraid that I do not understand why I don't want to change the report client document,
    or why <i>successfully exporting the report with the new login/password</i> is not what I
    want to do. Any explanation on that statement would be appreciated.
    </p>
    <p>
    I did find a way to accomplish my goal. It involved adding the SSOKEY property to the
    logon property bag. Below you'll see my revised code which modifies the report logon and
    server. I have no idea what
    this does, and SAP support has not been able to tell me why it works. However, what I
    discovered is that if I changed the report option, <b>Database Configuration -> When
    viewing report:</b>, in the CMS to <span class="bi">Use same database logon as when report
    is run</span> from <span class="bi">Prompt the user for database logon</span>, then the
    SSOKEY property had been added to the logon property bag having an empty string as its
    value. This allowed me to successfullyupdate and save the modified logon back to the CMS.
    </p>
    <p>
    So I took a chance and added code to always add the SSOKEY property with an empty string
    as its value, and I could then successfully modify and save the report's logon info
    and server. Again, I don't know what this means, but it has worked so far. If anyone has
    some insight or comments, either are welcome. Thank you in advance.

  • How to set the cardinality property as 1..n for a dynamically created node

    Hi...everybody
        I am creating Dropdown by index UI element and the
    context atrributes dynamically.To bind multiple data to a dropdown
    the cardinality property of the node should be 0..n or 1..n,
    But i could not set the property of the dynamically created context node to 0..n ...
    can any body suggest me..
    I implemented the following code in WDDoModify View
    IWDTransparentContainer tc=(IWDTransparentContainer)view.getElement("RootUIElementContainer");
    IWDNodeInfo node = wdContext.getNodeInfo().addChild("DynamicNode",null,true,true,false,false,false,true,null,
              null,null);
    IWDAttributeInfo strinfo=node.addAttribute("Value","ddic:com.sap.dictionary.string");
    dbyindex.bindTexts(strinfo);
    tc.addChild(dbyindex);
    I could successfully display one value in the drop down,by adding the following code before the line tc.addchild(dbyindex);
    IWDNode node1=wdContext.getChildNode("DynamicNode",0);
    IWDNodeElement nodeElement=node1.createElement();
    nodeElement.setAttributeValue("Value","Hello");
    node1.addElement(nodeElement);
    but when
    i am trying to bind multiple values i am getting Exception ,,,,

    hi
    you are getting the exception because of cardinality property.
    i.e   true,false and
    you are trying to add morethan one element.
    so,if you want to add morethan one than one element you have to set the cardinality property to true,true (or) false,true.
    In your code do the following modification for changing the cardinality.
    For 0..n -->false,true
          1..n-->true,true
    IWDTransparentContainer tc=(IWDTransparentContainer)view.getElement("RootUIElementContainer");
    IWDNodeInfo node = wdContext.getNodeInfo().addChild("DynamicNode",null,true,true,false,false,false,true,null,
    null,null);
    IWDAttributeInfo strinfo=node.addAttribute("Value","ddic:com.sap.dictionary.string");
    dbyindex.bindTexts(strinfo);
    tc.addChild(dbyindex);
    hope this will solve your problem.
    In addchild(..) the parameters are
    addChild("Name ,
                    Element class for model node ,
                    Is singleton? ,
                    Cardinality ,
                    Selection cardinality ,
                    Initialise lead selection? ,
                    Datatype ,
                    Supplier function ,
                     Disposer function);

  • Can we change the DB character set at session level

    hi,
    Please help me
    when iam giving the alter session command iam getting the error:
    SQL> ALTER SESSION set NLS_CHARACTERSE
    T =WE8MSWIN1252;
    ALTER SESSION set NLS_CHARACTERSET =WE8MSWIN1252
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00922: missing or invalid
    i need to enter Arabic names in using the xml file.
    here i have two questions
    1)is it is possible to set character set at session level. because my client is not allowing to bounce the database. DB version is 10.2.0.4
    Right now my DB is in US7ascii
    2)is this "WE8MSWIN1252" set supports Arabic.
    Regards,
    Naresh

    You cannot change the characterset at the session level. If you want to store ARABIC characters in your database then you should change the characterset of your database to any other characterset that supports Arabic characters or to a Unicode characterset like UTF8 or AL32UTF8.
    If you try to insert Arabic characters with your present US7ASCII charancterset then the characters would be stored as junk.

  • Changing CMS and Audit Repository databases from Oracle to SQl server 2008

    Hi guys,
      We have a Business Objects Dev environment which was installed with Oracle 10g database for CMS and Audit Repository.
    Our database team now decided to change the CMS and Audit databases of Dev BOE from Oracle to  SQL server 2008.
    What is the ideal way to achieve this? I'm concerned because the old DB is Oracle and the new one would be SQL server.
    Earlier, I have changed CMS database from one to another by stopping SIA , taking the backup of old DB into new and changing it in the Update Databse option. But in that case both old and new CMS databses were on SQL server 2005.
    Thanks,
    Ganga

    Denise,
      Thanks for the solution.
    We have done Windows AD and SAP integration on the Dev BOE. Will there be any issue with those after the DB change. I am guessing there won't be, but just want to confirm. Please reply.
      Also, we need to stop the old SIA and start using the new SIA after the step two is done right?
