Change the descripcion of a field standard table

Hi guys,
I have an standard program type SAPMVXX, I need to change the description of a dynpro field for example akkp-MANDT have the follow description 'Mandatory' , I want to change it by 'It is an example mandt'.
but not for all users so I can't change it with CMOD. I think I could do it with code but I don't know how.

Changing the description of the standard SAP fields

Consider the following scenario:
When entering the customer master details, we have the provision for entering the telephone number with extension, fax and telebox. Assume that we also need to enter the mobile number of the customer for which there is no provision. Also assume that we do not use telebox for any of our customers and want to use that field for entering the mobile number. Though you can directly enter the mobile number in the field u201Cteleboxu201D , the description u2018teleboxu2019 always misguides us. See the screenshot below:
This tutorial focuses on changing the field descriptions for scenarios similar to above.
All the short-descriptions for the fields are retrieved from the data element level of the corresponding fields. So we need to change the descriptions at the data-element level.
So our first step is to know the data element used for the field u201CTeleboxu201D. Press F1 and then F9 to know the data element. See the screenshot below:
Make a note of the data element.
Now go to transaction CMOD
Click on Goto à Text enhancements à Keywords à Change
Enter the data element.
Click enter. The following screen would appear:
Now change the descriptions as per the requirement. See the screenshot below:
Click on save.
Now to verify the changes, go to SE11 and enter the table name ADDR1_DATA. Check the short description for the field EXTENSION2:
Also go to transaction XD01 / XD02 and check the field:
The description u201CTeleboxu201D is now changed to u201CMobile Nou201D

I have changed the primary key of a standard table DPR_LOCATION using the acces key.
Now I want to revert to the original version. When I use the Version Management and trying to retrieve the original version I am getting a message that Primary key change not permitted for value table DPR_LOCATION.
Please advise how can I return to the original version provided by SAP.

Apart from Thomas, Other thing is that if you are adding a key to primary keys of a table which already have data, will allow to add one. But if you want to reduce the number of primary keys from the database table, it will not allow you to do that.
Reason is - when you removing one field from the primary key, existing data will become inconsistent with the new primary key combinatiion, which is not true for the opposite case.
A possible solution for this is to take backup of data of the table and then delete all the data from the database table.
When table will not having any data then it will allow to change the primary key.
then again upload the data by writing a simple upload program or manually if data is very less.

Which field are you thinking of in particular? Are you wanting to increase or decrease the length?
Some fields are used so extensively that a change to their length will mean adjusting many tables, some of them potentially very large, and hence taking a long time to adjust.
Some standard SAP programs expect certain fields to be of specific lengths and won't work if the length is changed.
Some screens could cease to work.
If you decrease length, then you could lose data.

Change the Data Type of a Standard Required Field

Hello Experts,
Need to know if is it possible to change the data type of a standard field. The field is marked as a required field.
For example: If a standard field is an Object Picker and I would like to change it to a string field. Is it possible? How can I do it?!

Hi Igor,
Since you cannot hide a required field, what you can do is move the standard required field to someplace less noticable (like the bottom of the page) and then use a validation script to set it to some benign value.

I think you want to change the field label of the text field.
For ex in tcode MM01, you can change the field label of Material text field.
The description of the field label comes from the data element it is associated with. To change the text of the field label, you have to change the field label of the data element.
But it will effect all the fields associated with this data element.
To change the field label of the data element go to tcode CMOD. Then click on GOTO->TEXT ELEMENTS->KEYWORDS->CHANGE.
Then enter the data element which is to be changed. In the next screen, change the field label and save it.

Hi CONS SAP,
You can use se16n transaction. This is very user friendly trnasaction. You may use it like this:
1) Start transaction SE16n.
2) Type the table name and press ENTER.
3) Type the string "&sap_edit" into the command line and press Enter.
4) Enter your selection criteria and press F8.
Now you can easily change/delete/add the lines you want and then save.
All Changes are recorded in the tables SE16N_CD_DATA and SE16N_CD_KEY.
But I would request you to keep in mind the suggestions from Vijay Babu Dudla

Changing the label of a field in SAP GUI

Hello SAP Guys,
I would like to change the label of a field in SAP GUI.
I already did it internally because for that field the Shor Text of the label changed:
I went to SE11, and wrote down the appropriate data element, through Translation I changed the entries of SCRTEXT_L, SCRTEXT_M and SCRTEXT_S and activated this change after saving.
It is very strange that after making sure that the
Short Text of that field was changed, I went to trx BP and I could see that the label didn´t change.
I´ll appreciate any help you can give me,

Hi Efrain,
Can you tell me in which screen did you make the screen.
Moreover the changes are not reflected immediately.
What you can try is to create a new record of the transaction in which you changed the label and save the recore. After this try to close the session and reopen the transaction and this should work.
The reason is the label on the screen are not picked up from the data element everytime but from buffer. So when you create a record this updates the database table entry and can also refresh the buffer.
I had the same problem in BP transaction and the above solution worked.

The Field showing in the infotype 1 is FORPR.
Change the text of this Field in CMOD.
CMOD ->Go to ->tect Enhancements->keywords-> Change ->FORPR
Change the text and check again.

I am trying to create a custom function to change the timezone of a field in the report depending on the timezone selected by the user in the prompt
I wrote a SQL Expression to do this , but i ended up creating a bunch of expressions for each time zone ,
So i am thinking of custom fuction some thing like
TimeZoneConvertor:
Fuction(TimeStampField , Timezone)
Returns: Timestamp field with newtimezone as selected by user
Hope you get this and please give me some kind of ideas to acheive this

Have Different Radio Buttons for the purposes what you have and use AT Selection Screen Output, Under the event Use loop at screen and with continue with your requirement.

Can i change the description of a field in a SAP QUERY report in the output of the report.or only the standard descriptions can be displayed.

HI,
in query maintenance (sq01) you can change the text of the field at the selection screen (change the selection text in the screen where you choose the selection fields) and the header text in the output list (basiclist maintennace , go to "basic list header", double-click each header field to maintain the text). This change is only for the particular query. No ABAP-er required to do so.

I hope there will not be any note for this.
Please follow the procedure.
Go to the domain and Check the domain where it is used and meke sure that it will effect all the tables where it is embeded.
If you want to change this leangth you have to take the OSS key for that hope you have service.sap login id right.
There you have to give the details of that domain object and go for the generate key.
The domain details you have to provide while generating the key .
these details we will call it as object directry enties.
Take all those things and give while you are genereating the key.

.APPEND structures AND CUSTOMIZING INCLUDES.
these are the two methods.. but customizing includes we, as a developers do not use.
generally we use .APPEND structures to modify standard tables.
note that we need an access key to modify atandard tables.
we can create an apend structure and add that structure to the standard table at the end.
note that .append structures should only be added only at the end.
that is the reason we use .append structures to modify standard tables.as we should not include a field in the middle and disturb the original order of the standard table fields as it may effect many objects depending on the standard table.
but Some standard tables for which there is a LONG datatype field can never be modified.
the reason is the LONG datatype field should always be there at the end and also .APPEND strutures should always be there at the end. there will be a conflict. so, some standard tables can not be appended.

Is it possible to change the default meta data field property values in UCM server.
For example consider the meta data Revision field which property required is true, then how to change this property required into not required.

Hari,
in your case (if you don't want to use versioning) I'd rather recommend to change it to hidden than not required. You should be able to do it with standard profiles (the field name, I believe, is dRevision)
I don't think you can have the field empty (in case someone deletes the content).

i want to make a display iview where the data comes from a table, add image beside each data from the table,
1) if i display data in table i am not able to add image beside each row.
2)i have also tried using one form and one table displayed side by side where the table has data from data service and form has the images (static), but here again as the height of row can not be changed the image does not fit perfectly beside the rows.

I got the help given below but not able to understand the flow of what is done
First create a button to trigger an action (let's say the action is called "go").
Drag a line and create a signal out set go as the event, name the signal out as "sig".
Create 4 numeric fields in the signal out "num1",..,"num4".
Map num1 <- 1
Add a signal in to the model, name it "sig" and create 4 numeric field to it ("num1",..,"num4" as well).
Drag a line from the signal in and choose a form from the context menu.
4 recordsl will appear in the form. set them as visible and as spinner control.
drag a line from the form's out port and add a signal out named "go".
Map is as follows:
num1 <= @num1+1
num2 <= 1
num3 <= if(@num2==1,1,0)
num4 <= if@num3==1,1,0)
Add a gaurd condition to the line @num1<4 and name the event "Next_Event"
double click on num1 to open the properties popup.
For num1 define a custom action named "Next_Event"
For num2 define a custom action named "Pass1"
For num3 define a system action move row - move next
For num4 define a custom action named "pass2"
drag a line from the form and add data store. Create 2 field in it "first" and "second"
set the event to be pass1 and map the value you want from the table to "first".
Create another line from the form to the data store with event pass 2 that maps value to second.
Create a new form with 2 field which default vlaue is the value in the data store.
