Changing 2d image into 3d
I am using photoshop cs5 extended edition on a mac. I am trying to make a 2d image into a 3d image using repousse but the "repousse'" option in the 3d drop down menu on the status bar is grey and it keeps telling me that no layer is selected. I saw the instructor in this youtube video do something off camera to fix the problem but I dont know what he did. Can someone please give me insight as to wjat I do next? I got it! Just had to mask the layer.

Why does my image change when imported into Mac Captivate?
The image is a png and originally part of a Captivate 6 template created in Windows. When I import the image into Mac OS X Captivate 6 the quality literally changes before my eyes.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening? and how I can correct it?

Hi!
I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

Hey,
I am trying to make something that will have a list on the
left, and a tileList on the right. When a user clicks on a list
item, it changes the imageset lets call it, in the tileList. (eg.
list item 1 loads imageset1 into the tile list and so forth)
Now i have been having a few issues with this. First issue, I
am using arrays (i think) to hold the sets of images, then when the
list item passes the .data, the corosponding set is loaded. Well
for one...is that how i should be doing this?
Second issue, it seems that the images are being loaded in as
thumbnails or something...they are about 50% the size i would say
of the original, and thats just not on! i cant figure out why!,
eventually - i want 2 columns of images at full size (going to be
small banners)
I have just been trying to piece together bits from the help
file and such to make some hodge podge app, Im just learning!
so...it sort of works, the first two anyway - except as i said,
there somming through 50% the size
*sidenote* if any of you can tell from lookig at my code
(attached at the bottom) if i click on either the first or second
item it loads 4 images virtically, left aligned into the tileList
at about 50% size. and i can click back and forth between them and
it changed the images but keeps the size and the layout. if i click
the first or second one, then any of the others (with no code
attatched to them) then click back on the same one again (first or
second) 2 out of the 4 images go full sized, and they arrange
themselved 2x2...go figure? i think it may have soething to do with
the initCatalog being called twice? i dont know...help?

</mx:Application>With PSE off can you select and move the images, say to another folder or print them? If you can't , it may be some other program is interferring, such as your anti-virus. But, still why would some images select and others not? The images could be corrupt in some way. If you could move the folder to a memory card or CD and load them into another computer, running XP or something, and see if you could select them then.
I don't know how they would behave in PSE. I'm still trying to make sense out of the thing. I had to read the PDF manual before I could figure out how to move images from the Organizer to the Editor. Seems like there is too much emphasis on organization and not enough on editing.
I have found Win 7 to behave strangely, anyway.
Have you done a Google search for the problem? There seems to be a lot of people having trouble with PSE8
Scroll down and read the comments at JohnB1941 at Files not saved in organizer or version set. They are talking about PSE9, but the comments may apply to your problem. It seems as re-naming is creating some problems with working with the images. -
Unable to load TIF images into Photoshop.
CS4 (11.0.2) and Windows 7 Home Edition.
Have developed a problem trying to load some TIF images into Photoshop. I have a large number of images archived over a decade or more. At this point it may some of the older files that exhibit the problem. Now all these files were edited and stored using the Photoshop versions during the complete time period. The files are always saved with no compression. Have tried to load from Photoshop and clicking on the file in a file list. Photoshop just hangs and I get the message Program not responding. I can take these same files and load them into the ROXIO photo editor with no problem. Stranger yet is if I simply load the file into the ROXIO editor then "save as" back into the same folder (overwrite) the file can then be brought into Photoshop with no problem! Any ideas?Noel,
Will try to keep short.
I reinstalled Photoshop CS4 from the cd CS set. Did not uninstall first. Restarted PC and Photoshop. Still failed the same way with a 3001 image.
Did the following, changing one item in the Edit->Preference->GPU Setting. After each change, closed Photoshop, reopened, brought in 3001 image, restored original setting. 3001 failed each time.

* Advanced setup: Unchecked Color Matching
Next went to the Edit->Color Profile.
Scanned thru options and saw in the Convert Options: Engine. It was set to Adobe (ACE). ACE was the module name in the error detail!
Only other option for this is Microsoft ICM. Changed to that, close/open Photoshop and 3001 came in no problem. So did the Nikon 3000, srgb IEC 61922 2.1 and Untagged. However, when briging in an Adobe RGB(1998) image Photoshop notes Profile Mismatch. It allows me to decide what to do (use embedded profile instead of workspace; convert color to work space color; discard embedded profile. and I choose use the convert color and it loads ok. At least it loads the image! Will use this approach for now. I need to get educated on color profiles!!

Loading an image into an Applet from a JAR file
Hello everyone, hopefully a simple question for someone to help me with!
Im trying to load some images into an applet, currently it uses the JApplet.getImage(url) method just before registering with a media tracker, which works but for the sake of efficiency I would prefer the images all to be contained in the jar file as oppossed to being loaded individually from the server.
Say I have a class in a package eg, 'com.mydomain.myapplet.class.bin' and an images contained in the file structure 'com.mydomain.myapplet.images.img.gif' how do I load it (and waiting for it to be loaded before preceeding?
I've seen lots of info of the web for this but much of it is very old (pre 2000) and im sure things have changed a little since then.

How can I insert an image into a cell in Numbers for iPad?
Hi,
is there any way to insert an image inside a cell using Numbers for iPad? I tried doing it on desktop version and it works, then I shared it through iwork.com and downloaded into my iPad and it's showing fine on the iPad ( although there's no way to edit or change the image inside the cell ) but when I try to do the same task on iPad itself, the image always comes floating even if I place the cursor inside a cell before inserting.
any idea how to do it or if it's even possible?

JohnImages can be added to cells only as "image fill." Cell fill is an attribute of the cell, not content of the cell. Only cell content can be retrieved by a formula or by copying the content of the cell.
Copying the cell will also copy its format, including the image fill, but I've found no way to extract the image from the cell.

I'm sure this is something that's been covered in another post (or even in the help portal) but I think my wording in my search terms are not correct or... I don't know, because I just can't find what I'm looking for.

How do I turn an image into a transparency?
Hi,
There's a question I've seen asked dozens or hundreds of times, and I thought I found an answer a few years ago. I've since forgotten how to do it:
Turn an image into a transparency.
Now, the obvious solution is to set the layer to "multiply." Yes, this is the effect I want. However, I want the layer to be transparent instead.
Another solution is to draw an image on a transparent layer. This works great, but only applies if I create the image from scratch. I want to convert an existing image.
Another solution is multiple steps:
1) Copy image
2) Click "edit in quick mask mode."
3) Paste image
4) Exit quick mask mode.
5) Invert selection.
6) Ctrl+backspace to fill selection with black, on a blank transparent layer.
Result? The image is now transparent! However, this converts the image to greyscale! Great for linework and text, terrible for photos or art!
In an older version of Photoshop 7, I believe I got the following to work:
A) Follow the previous steps 1-6, creating a layer with transparency
B) Copy the original picture to a layer above the transparency
C) Group the layer with the transparency layer below. (Note, grouping doesn't work the same any more.)
D) The top layer provides the colors, but the bottom layer provides the transparency.
E) It is too light, so you take the top layer, and maximize "saturation" 100%.
F) Merge the two layers. It retains the transparency of the bottom layer, with the hue of the top layer.
This no longer works, because I don't know how grouping layers works anymore.
So, I need white pixels to be transparent. Black pixels to have zero transparency. Red pixels to have zero transparency. Etc.
Meanwhile, grey pixels are solid black, but partly transparent. Pink pixels are solid red, but partly transparent.
All pixels are 100% saturated, and the "lightness" is determined by how transparent they are.
So, an analogy would be printing a photo on a transparency. I need to convert an image to a transparency.
If the image/layer were overlaid on white, it would look exactly like the original photo.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Mathematically, it's easy. But I don't know about any filter, process, or method to make the conversion using CS5.

I hope that I understand what you need.
(One could just put the image on a layer, and lower its opacity, but you seem to be looking for an effect in wich the tranparency is not the same for all pixels.)
Try this:
1) Turn your image image as a layer (double-click it if it is a background layer) [In order to add a mask]
2) Select all, Copy (CTRL+a, CTRL+C)
3) add a layer mask (click the rectangle with a circle in the bottom of the layers panel) [to be able to change transparency]
4) target the mask [so that you can past an image in it] ALT+click the mask, paste the image.
5) Invert the colors of the mask (CTRL+I) [in order for the white to be transparent and the black opaque].
You now have a layer whose transparency is based on the lightness of the pixels.

Nothing changed because the CSS that has been written into DW is incorrectly written.
You want the following (exactly as written below)

You've inadvertently wrapped the rule inside a #main_image container rendering it meaningless.
It's easiest to go into Code View and change

The Property Inspector added a border exactly as I wanted it, other than the color I wanted the border to be. What is the use of this function in Property Inspector if it can add a border within Property Inspector but not let me change the COLOR of the black border that Property Inspector added, to another color?
That's a deceptively simple, yet valid, question with a long answer.
Back in the dark old days of web design web designers were restricted to inline HTML formatting which offered border properties but no colors.
CSS styling offers colors and more but has to be written differently.
These days. it's best to avoid HTML formatting. Unfortunately border="4px" in the PI still allows it. But does not permit color.

How do I manipulate color after changing an image to halftone with bitmap in Photoshop CS5 and CS6?

I'm just starting to play with turning into images into halftone image. So far I've learned how to do it 2 ways: 1) using the Pixelate>Halftone filter and 2)Converting the image to grayscale then bitmap>halftone. After either technique, I'm a little lost on how to best changel color - not as whole but to convert different section to different colors - kind of Andy Warhold look. I've tried the history brush. I've dragged it into illustrator (which I tried live trace). But I'm not quite getting the flexibility of just painting different areas different colors. Also, what angles work best to avoid strange grid effects?
Any techniques or inside advice would be greatly approciated! Thanks, AndreaWhy not apply the halftone to a duplicate layer, that way, you still retain the colors, you can then allow some or all of the colors to show through, using blend modes, masks or opacity changes.
