Changing iCloud to match new Apple ID?

My apple ID is a very old email address that I no longer use. When I got my new iphone, and ios 5, i put my iCloud account as my apple ID account. Now, however, I would like to change my Apple ID account to a different email address and then use that new email address (my old mobile me address) as the email address associated with iCloud? I have seen things online that you just delete your iCloud account and start all over. That scares me to death, because all of my contacts and calendar and reminders and synced with my iCould, and i really do not want to loose those. So how can I change my Apple ID account email address and then change the iCloud to match that. Bear in mind, however, that the email address I would be changing those to would be a mobile me email address, that is already in existence (which I have heard can cause problems)? All of this, without loosing all of my contacts and such?

Question for Mr Churchill who so kindly helped me a few months agao with my ATV questions.
I have a simular question
Years ago I register on iTunes with a @gmail address. I was a Windows user then. Over the years I have spent many $ on iTunes with my ATV. Still stored on the ATV only
I recently got a Mac (along with all the other iApple goodies) and want to use the full power of the iCloud, but to do that I need a @me address, which I now have. But I don't want to lose all those purchases made with my @gmail.
Is there a way to change my Apple ID to @me and not lose my purchases. Evertyhting else will stay the same. Credit card billing address everything.
As I already own the purchases, this should not be that bigger deal.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Marc

How do I change icloud email when my apple ID has been updated to new email? When I try to delete icloud account (in settings-icloud-delete account) I have to put in the password for the apple ID of my old email address, which is no longer my apple ID, and it says username or password is invalid (I'm guessing because that is no longer my apple ID).

You will wait for the rest of your life. You need to fix it; no one else will. To turn off "Find my iPhone" and its associated Activation Lock you need the Apple ID and password that were used to turn it on. If you know the Apple ID you can contact Apple Account Security and have them reset the password (after you prove you are the rightful owner of that Apple ID). see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.
If you don't know the Apple ID the phone is permanently unusable.

If you renamed your iCloud ID and need to change it on your device, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

as there was some problem with the first one. Now at some places still my old apple Id is appearing.  Pls adv how I change this to my new apple Id.

Anything you downloaded with the first Apple Id will forever be tied to it, and will always require it to update.
The question here is, why did you think you needed to create a new Apple ID? What was the problem with the first one?
To get rid of th old one, you'll need to delete everything you downloaded with it, and then sign out of the ID in several places around the iPad.
    Go to Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID->Sign out.
Repeat the process, for Facetime, Messages, Mail and any other App you need to sign out of.

  • Changing iCloud ID to match new Apple iD

    Hello,
I recently changed my name and made a new email account, so I've been slowly trying to change my IDs to match. I changed my Apple ID to my new email, but when I attempted to switch my iCloud information to match the new Apple ID in "settings" on my iPhone and ipad, I was not able to select the iCloud ID bar to change it.
    Any suggestions?

    Hey Jessicaspitters,
Thanks for the question. After you change your Apple ID, you’ll want to follow these directions for updating the iCloud account on iOS devices:
Apple ID: What to do after you change your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5796
    iCloud
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
    - If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
    - If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
    1. Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
    2. Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How can I change my e-mail on icloud to match my Apple id?

I have recently changed my phone and got a new Apple ID, unfortunately it keeps popping up to enter the password on i cloud for my old Apple id which I cant remeber..... how can i change it so its the same??

This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • HT204053 My old email address is used for my iCloud and I can't change it to my new apple ID

I can't change my iCloud ID to my new apple ID. My iCloud ID is my old email address which is no longer in use.

If the old ID is yours, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID.

  • I have the old ipod touch with no camera and I changed my apple ID account, which shows on my ipod. but when i try to download a song or update my apps my old apple ID comes up, how do I change it for my new Apple ID to come up?

I have an older Ipod Touch that is (I believe) the third generation because I have no camera on my ipod. I recently changed my Apple ID and password on my Itunes account. But when I try to update my apps or download new software/music my old apple ID comes up and I can't change it. On the itunes store and my settings it shows my new Apple account. How do I stop from my old account from coming up and my new account appearing when I try to download something new?

    - To change ID go to Settings>Store and sign out and sign in with the one you want. If you iPod has iOS 5 you may have to also go to Settings>iCloud and sign into the second account.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Can't change iCloud to a different Apple ID on iphone

My daughter's iPhone 4 have my Apple ID entered as the Apple ID for her iCloud account information.  We want to change this to her own Apple ID, but the ID is "grayed out" and cannot be changed.  I have turned off all iCloud services, rebooted the phone, and still can't change this.
As to how it got this way...  my daughter tried to enter her own Apple ID after installing iOS 5, but the phone then stated that iCloud set-up failed; try again later.  She then found that my ID had been entered for her.  I am assuming it picked up my ID from the "Find my iphone" app - the entire family used my ID for find my iphone, so we could see each other. We turned off Find my iPhone on her phone, and still can't change the ID.  She succesfully entered her own ID in the Store settings on her phone, and later upgraded to 10.7.2 and set up iCloud with her Apple ID on her computer.
I'm thinking we should do a backup and restore of her phone to see if that resets the iCloud Apple ID setting, but don't want to go through that unless someone knows it works.
Suggested new feature: the iCloud web site should have a way to monitor which devices are using an account, and provide a way to kick a device off an account.
    Thanks
(apologies - I just found another thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/16365618 with very similar question but not sure how to delete this post entirely)

Duh-o, found the answer to my own question.  Just scroll to the bottom of the prefs pane for iCloud (Settings-iCloud) and select "Delete Account". You can then enter the correct information.
What can't be answered is why entering the correct account info at set-up failed on 3 phones so far in our family.  For all 3 of these I'm having to take the "delete account" route.

  • How do I set up iCloud with my new Apple ID?

I have changed my Apple ID, but my old one keeps appearing as a prompt for iCloud. I can't remember the password to log out of the old one, and the email isn't valid anymore? How can I change ids so my new one is attached to iCloud?

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do.

  • Apple ID for app updates does not match new Apple ID cannot get updates

Can someone tell me how to get the Apple ID for app updates to match new changed Apple ID?
I can get new apps with new ID but not updates....old ID shows up and will not accept password.

Your advice is to change my Apple ID again?
No I gave you a link to try to get a new password to work with the old Apple ID.
And are you saying that I will not be able to access any updates for apps that were acquired under the original Apple ID and password?
I am saying that the only way to update apps acquired with the old Apple ID is with the old Apple ID. You cannot update them with a new Apple ID.
