Changing IP address of 10.6 Server connected to 10.5 OD Master...

I need to change the IP address of my 10.6 Server. I plan on running the changeip command, but because changeip under 10.6 no longer manipulates the directory, do I need to do anything else?
I know if this server was the OD Master, I'd have to run an additional script to deal with updating the directory information, but since I'm only connected to an OD Master (a 10.5 Server) I'm wondering if there's anything else I need to do on the 10.6 Server?
Thanks,
Kristin.

If it's not the OD Master, changeip should do everything you need it to as long as you're well aware of the network and it's subnet boundaries etc.
You can verify the changes in System Prefs...  Just go in there and ensure that the IP Address is correct along with the subnet mask, the router address, and the DNS Servers.
If you're moving the server to another subnet, then you should probably disconnect it from the Master first otherwise when it gets its new network address it'll probably throw up all kinds of nasty errors when it can't find it.

You can change that of Release 9.0.2.0.1 upwards. See whether this document helps.

  • Steps to change IP address for SAP B1 server

    Dear Guru
My company is going to change the IP address of SAP B1 server, because I am very new in this area, so pls clarify for me the following doubt
    1. May I change the IP address with the SAP B1 is running?
    2. If I need to stop the B1 services, how can I stop it? Stop at windows service level? or is there any console for me to stop the service like SAP R3?
    3. Do I need to stop the MSSQL service as well?
    4. Do I need to reboot the server before I startup the SAP B1 service?
    Regards
    Guodong

    Dear Guodong,
Just assuming you have only one question since that is the forum rule.
To change IP address for SAP B1 server, you need to Stop and restart the server to prevent the potential problem.  B1 is not the same as R/3, you have to stop all B1 related services.

  • Change IP Address in Snow Leopard Server

I have a client who has been operating naked on the Internet for years. Every machine in their office has its own public IP address. They have had some issues with former employees accessing their machines and are becoming a bit more security minded. I have purchased an Airport Extreme for them to use as their firewall and provide wireless for the growing number of laptops and iPhones.
    My question is as follows:
If I set up their AE to provide NAT for them and change the IP addresses from the public 67.xxx.xxx.xxx to a private network 192.168.xxx.xxx, how is this going to effect name resolution on the network? Will it cause any other issues that I should be aware of before making the change?
Thanks for any help and insight you can provide
    SK

It very much depends whether you plan to put the SLS within the Airport LAN or not. You could easily leave it parked on its current public IP, and simply put the rest of the computers in the Airport LAN.
If you do that, it probably won't make any difference at all to the users - they'll pick up DNS information from the Airport Extreme rather than the server, but still be looking at the same location for any server based services they use (e.g. iCal server, mail etc.).
If you move the server to be within the Airport LAN then you will have to make a number of changes to the configuration of the server. Which ones need updating depends on what the server is used for. If you look on pages 132 to 144 of the manual Mac OS X Server - Advanced Server Management - which you can download from the documentation section of the Apple Support web site (http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/ServerAdminv10.6.pdf) you get a clear discussion of what services are affected by a change in IP address, and how to update the server to reflect such changes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Integration Directory - Server Connection interrupted

    Hi,
after a system copy we have the following problem: If we start the "Integration Builder:Configuration" and want to view, create or change an object we lost the server connection. The error message in a popup is: "Connection Interrupted. Connection to sercer lost. You can log again once the server is available again. Do you want to log on again?" After the log on again and a new click of an object to view or change it, the same error pops up.
    What can i do?
    Kind regards, Norbert

    Hi,
the problem exists only in the integration directory. In "Integration Builder: Design (Integration repository)"  there are no problems with viewing and changing objects. Also my user login is not locked due to invalid login attempts.

  • Portal 3.0: changing ip address

    Dear All,
i need to change ip address for Oracle Portal server.
Can you give me some information to proceed ?
    Many thanks.

If this is for Oracle Portal (Oracles own old Portal), please post in Oracle Portal Forums. This forum is for Weblogic Portal (or Oracle Weblogic Portal).
BUT if this is for Oracle Weblogic Portal (Former BEA Weblogic Portal), then I guess you are looking to change the IP address of the Portal Server. In that case, stop the server. Open config.xml file. Search for the tag named <server> </server>. It should be something like above. NOW, if you use the default localhost and default port (7001), then you may not see the tags in your config.xml file like listen-port, listen-address etc. In that case, take backup of config.xml file, add the above tags carefully. If you just want to change listen address, add the tag <listen-address></listen-address> with appropriate value. NOTE that this means this Server will be running and installed on this machine (IP address that you mention here). Incase if your intention is to replace localhost with IP address of that machine, its fine. Same thing applies if you want to change default port number also.
    <server>
    <name>AdminServer</name>
    <ssl>
    <name>AdminServer</name>
    <enabled>true</enabled>
    <server-private-key-alias>demoidentity</server-private-key-alias>
    <server-private-key-pass-phrase-encrypted>{3DES}qxEhrfmANIITdpvPld0Uvk5i/rPNDAmZ</server-private-key-pass-phrase-encrypted>
    </ssl>
    <listen-port>7001</listen-port>
    <listen-port-enabled>true</listen-port-enabled>
    <listen-address></listen-address>
    <java-compiler>javac</java-compiler>
You can do this from Admin console also. Start domain. Login into Admin Console. click on your domain and servers. Then click on lock and edit and change listen address and port. Once you hit Submit and Activate, you will get Page Not Found. This is valid, Because the URL is still pointing to old listen address and port. Manaualy change the url to point to new listen address and port and refresh the page and you are good to go.
Incase if you want to deploy your app on a brand new server with diff IP address, then you need to crate a managed server on that machine and configure all the cluster stuff. Then deploy your app on that managed server.
    Thanks

  • Mac Server 10.6 How to change IP address

My server is on a private network 10.0.1.0 and is behind a Airport extreme router. Is there a way to safely change the ip address or do I have to re-install.

Changing private IP addresses on a Mac OS X Server is a pain in the neck but can be done. However if you make it in to a public IP address then it will not be usable in many ways internally for your LAN.
If your wanting to make services available to remote users or Internet users, e.g. running a website, then a better idea is to either tell your router to do port-forwarding of the required services, or you can use a second Ethernet interface and have the server connected both the the LAN (using the existing private IP address), and a suitable public IP address on the other interface. The Mac Pro and XServe come with two Ethernet interfaces as standard, but you can use a USB Ethernet interface on the Mac mini and iMac.
With regards to changing the private IP address of an Open Directory Master the most reliable method is as follows.
Do a full backup of the server (you should always have a backup)
Do an archive (backup) of your Open Directory Databases
Convert any other Open Directory Replicas to Standalone Servers
Demote this master to a standalone server
    Change the DNS records
    Change the servers IP address
    Reboot
Make a new Open Directory Master
Test the new Open Directory Master by creating a test account
Assuming it worked delete the test account
Restore the Open Directory backup and tell it to merge the backup
All your accounts should be restored
    Test it again

  • My ipad recognizes my home network but will not connect to the internet. When I click on AirPort/preferences at the top of the imac screen it says..."AirPort has a self-assigned ip address and may not connect to the internet".How can I change ip address?

My ipad recognizes my home network but will not connect to the internet. When I click on AirPort/preferences at the top of the imac screen it says..."AirPort has a self-assigned ip address and may not connect to the internet". If this is the root of the problem, how can I change ip address?
Ipad will connect no problem to other networks.

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

  • Changing IP Address and ports in Directory Server 5.1 SP 4 and 5.2 SP4

I have installed multiple instance of Sun Directory Server 5.1 and 5.2 on ports 389 and 390,now I want to change the IP Address and ports, I am able to change the directory server port from 389 by editing the dse.ldif file, now I want to change the port 390 and the IP address same as directory server, can someone expert from the forum guide me.
    Thanks in Advance.

    1) I don't know what you've typed in when installing... but I've never seen that message. Are you using any language specific characters ?
Do you get the error after this screen ?
    <b>
The suffix is the root of your directory tree. You may have more than
    one suffix.
    Suffix [dc=sun,dc=com]:
    </b>
If yes, then this means that the value you typed in is not a valid DN... and you must enter a valid one.
2)The Directory Server is installed under /usr/iplanet but the database is under /var/iplanet/ds5 and configuration is under /etc/iplanet/ds5 ...
You can use symbolic links if you want to move things around.
    3) You mean you downloaded the tar.gx file of iDS 5.1 and install it on Solaris 9... No problem, I do this every day. As long as you have right to create directories and files, you should be able to install as anyone. If not, you should install as root and then let the server run as a special user.
    4) Solaris 9 comes with iDS5.1 packages already installed. But the server is not configured at all.
Running directoryserver setup allows you to configure it and create the database, accounts...
Running directoryserver uninstall remove the instance of the installed database... It doesn't remove the packages. You can start again a setup...
By the way, I think that iDS 5.1 on Solaris 9 comes with the full documentation... May be you should start by reading it.
    Regards,
    Ludovic.

"You have to change your router's IP address to be able to access it. It will not give you the internet."
I'm not sure what that means Richard, but I did change the router's IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.5.1- isn't that what you meant in your first post. I know that isn't reflected in my screen capture that I took last night, but I did do that this morning after I read your post.
"Log on to your router and change two settings.
Change the setting in Setup from PPPoE to Automatic Configuration-DHCP and click on save.
Click on Advance Routing and change the setting from Gateway to Router then click on save."
I did this and still same results as far as I can tell. Can't get online through the router.
"Click on MAC address clone under setup tab ... click enable & click clone ...click save settings ... Check the IPaddress under WAN page ....
If getting IP in public range .... try going online ...."
I tried this- at least to the part about checking the IP address under WAN. I assume you mean the WAN page in the modem setup- nothing looked any different after trying what you suggested, and I'm not really sure where I would be "getting IP in public range" or what that means.
I'm about to give up and just buy a new router to see if I can get the same lack of results with a different one. My ISP maintains that everything is set up correctly on their end and really can't do anything more for me. The Modem works and is set up correctly and they can give tech support for a router.
Here's what my basic setup looks like now:

Here's what the advanced tab looks like now:

  • What effect on OEM when change IP address on server?

    Hi All,

    Thank you

trying to help Tom answer some of your questions. he may has better answer
    1. Hosts file that you told are keep in client or
server(and what path?)it's a file for your OS to resolve hostname into IP address.
in unix it's usually under /etc/hosts
    in windows it's under
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
    filename is lmhosts
You don't really need the file if you use DNS, this lead to second question
    2. What is the DNS ,Agent?DNS -> domain name server
It's a server help your resolve domain name, hostnames into IP address. So you can just type www.oracle.com to goto Oracle website instead of 141.146.8.66
DNS is not a single server on big network, especially internet. there are many servers and also DNS agent to help you get quick naming resolution. When server is updated the change need to be populated to other servers and agents.
    3. Why is the reinstall OEM?maybe Tom want to change his server's hostname?
Like he said, OEM identify server by hostname not ip address, so you are safe to change IP address only. No need to reinstall
    4. What is the OMS?typo?
    >
Sorry,if I ask the basic questions.you come to the right place.

  • Changing the internal IP address of a TMG server

Hi, I am moving our TMG 2010 server over to a new datacenter and while the IP subnet will be the same the internal IP address of the TMG server must change.
If I understand it right, all I would have to do it change the physical NIC properties to reflect the new address right? If for example I am changing the internal NIC address from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.2 and the 10.0.0.x network is already defined in TMG as
an internal network then there is nothing that needs to be done from the TMG point of view correct?  This is not being used as an outgoing web proxy but for server publishing rules.

  • How to change names in "favorite servers" list of Connect-to-Server

I've got a bunch of often-used servers saved in the list that shows up when I do "apple-K" (Finder's "Connect to Server"). but they're entered as IP addresses; I'd like to rename them so that I can actually recognize which one is which without having to look up the IP address in a list. Is there any way to customize this list to edit how the various frequently-used servers appear there?
    Mike

The simplest solution would be to remove the server connections you don't want, then just re-connect to them using the name.
The recent servers are stored in ~/Library/Recent Servers/ and you can selectively remove them from there.
