Changing the Naming convention of Log Files

Hi,
Is there a way to change the naming convention of log files. Instead of
00000000.jdb, 00000001.jdb, ... to
DB000000.jdb, DB000001.jdb etc
Thanks in advance.

No, there isn't a way to do that. We didn't anticipate a need to do that -- could you please explain the need?
Putting a prefix on the file name would unnecessarily limit the total size of the data set, if file names are limited to the 8.dot.3 format as you've shown.

    Edited by: user10243788 on Apr 25, 2010 6:12 AMPointing the archive log dest (and/or the FRA) to a new location, or enlarging them, will do no good if you are not performing regular housekeeping on the archivelogs. You will just keep knocking down the same problem over and over.
    If you simply delete the archivelogs at the OS level, the database will never know about it and it will continue to think the destination is full, based on records kept in the control file.
    For regular housekeeping, you need to be doing something similar to this in rman:
    run {
      backup archivelog all not backed up 1 times tag='bkup_vlnxora1_arch';
      delete noprompt archivelog all backed up 1 times to device type disk;
    run {
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    delete noprompt expired archivelog all;

  • Is it possible to control the naming convention used by Aperture when importing photos?  If so, how

    When I import photos from my camera, I have them placed into projects based on the date the photos were taken. However, I do not like the naming convention used by Aperture as it causes the projects to sort into a non-chronologial order. The convention is MMM-DD-YYYY and I want to change it to YYYY-MM-DD. Is it possible in Aperture 3.2.4 to do this?

    In the Import  panel you can edit the preset for the file name format to "Image year - image month - image day - index" for example; the preset for folder names seems to be gone in Aperture 3,3 - at least I cannot find it any longer. You only seem to be able to enter the folder name manually in the Import panel.

  • When using Creative Cloud Library assets created in Illustrator why are the naming conventions I use not being pulled over into the Photoshop layers?

    I create the Creative Cloud Library asset in illustrator and give it a name such as "camera-icon". It shows up in my Creative Cloud Library pane in Photoshop as "camera-icon". When I use that asset in Photoshop the layer is randomly named "a56bd81d-d81f-4815-82b3-5795d410b527". Why is this happening? Shouldn't that layer resolve the name back to "camera-icon" so that when I extract files for use in my application the naming convention is correct. Right now I have to manually rename that layer again. Is this a bug or have I just not done something correctly?

    I think you have pasted the entire crash log. In case of such issues in future, please paste the error screenshot.
    Seems to be a permission issue. Lets follow the below suggestions:
    Solution 1: Rename the following folders on your machine:
    '/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Profiles'
    '/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Recommended'
    Solution 2: Rename the following files:
    '/Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps/Media_db.db'
    '/Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps/pdb.db'
    Make sure you dont touch caps.db under the same folder. Now run the installer again. Let me know if you need more help.
    Solution 3:
    Please Run following commands on terminal on the machine (this will remove the corrupt fonts and should allow you to run the installer successfully) -
    sudo mv "/Library/Fonts/ACaslonPro-Bold.otf" /tmp/
    sudo mv "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SavedFonts/current/AdobeArabic-Bold.otf" /tmp/
    sudo mv "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/HelpCfg/de_DE/goURL_lr_photoshop_de.csv" /tmp/
    Please feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions about the steps listed within the document.  If you could also respond with the specific error message you receive, It would be appreciated.

  • How do I change the thumbnail for a video file?

    Can I change the thumbnail for a video file (ex. .mov) in Bridge CS4?

    Can I change the thumbnail for a video file (ex. .mov) in Bridge CS4?
    Not to my knowledge. It seems it takes a snapshot from about the 10th second of the movie and creates a thumbnail for it. On a Mac the finder thumbnail shows the first frame of a movie, both don't seem to be able in getting customized.
    It will be down to a good naming convention I'm afraid. Not having CS4 installed anymore but on Bridge CS6 .mov files play on an reasonable sized scale in good quality in the preview window, maybe that will help you?

    After we update the db from Release 10.2.0.1.0 to Release 10.2.0.4.0, the format of Audit log file had been changed to something likes below.
    Audit file /u03/oracle/admin/NIKKOU/adump/ora_1897.aud
    Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

    Because we have to rewrite the perl script, could anyone tell us where we can find the manual to describe the format of the Audit log file.

    Oracle publishes views of the audit trail data. You can find a list of the views for the 11.1 database here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28531/auditing.htm#BCGIICFE
    The audit trail does not really change between patchsets as that would constitute underlying structure changes and right now, the developers are not allowed to change the underlying structure of tables in patchsets. But, we can change what may be displayed in a column from patchset to patchset. For example, we are getting ready to update the comment$text field to display more information like dblinks and program names.
    I personally don't like overloading the comment$text field like that, but sometimes when you need the information, that is the only choice except to wait for the next major release :)
    As for the output of the audit log files, those can change between patchsets because of bugs that were found and some changes to support Audit Vault. My apologies out there for anyone that is reading the audit files written to the OS directly, I would recommend using the views.
    Hope that helps. Tammy

    u can check the below the material also
    what is BAPI?
    BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
    I have answered this question before..
    A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
    You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
    A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
    BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
    The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
    Reading instances of SAP business objects
    GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
    The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
    GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
    The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
    The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
    The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
    Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
    The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
    Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
    Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

  • The naming convention of the disk device name (/dev/dsk/cXdY)

    Hi All,
    Please let me know the naming convention of the disk device name (/dev/dsk/cXdY) recognized on OS of a guest domain.
    I found from the document of Oracle that the value specified as the id option of ldm add-vdisk command went into Y of cXdY.
    However, there is no telling by what kind of rule X portion of cXdY is decided.

    Hello
    I have found this in the man ldm but I don't know how to related the cN, I mean I don't know where the N comes from. Still checking and trying to get more info.
    vdisk
    Virtual disks are generic block devices backed by different types of physical devices, volumes, or files. A virtual disk is not synonymous with a SCSI disk and, therefore, excludes the target ID (tN) in the disk name. Virtual disks in a logical domain have the following format: cNdNsN, where cN is the virtual controller, dN is the virtual disk number, and sN is the slice.

  • Changing the order for printing portfolio files in adobe acrobat 9 pro

    Does anyone know how to change the order for printing pdf files that are part of a portfolio in adobe acrobat 9 pro?  The documentation seems to say that it prints files alphabetically by filename rather than by the internal sort order.  This won't work for me. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Question1: No.
    Question2: No.

  • Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture?

    Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture? We shoot with two photographers and so the img numbers are not in order but I would like to have the photos in chronological order on the disc when I give it to them. Does anyone know how to do this? I have them all in order ready to go in Aperture but when I move them to the disc to be burned they default back to the img number order. Thanks for your help!

    What do you mean by "image number"? The file names like "IMG_7822.CR2" or "IMG_7822.jpg"?
    You can create custom names with appended numbers, when you export your image files to be saved on a disk.
    Sort your images by date in the browser, select them, then use the command "File > Export > Version" to write the files to the disk. Set the name format to "Custem Name with Index" or "Custom Name with Counter" to create numbered names in your current sort order.

  • How do I change the name property of a file in a document library?

    I am trying to come up with an Event Receiver that will change the name property of an file when it is uploaded. For instance when a file is uploaded into a document Library, currently the Title is being generated (which is fine)...I want to be able to
    change the "Name" property from whatever it is, to match exactly what is in the "Title" property. Are there any sample codes/blogs out there that I can take a look at? Has anyone  had any experience doing this? It seems like something
    that should be straight forward, to change the "Name" property to match what is in the "Tilte" property.

    Hi,
    You can try the code below which use the SPFile.MoveTo() function to change the name of the file.
    EventFiringEnabled = false;
    SPFile f = properties.ListItem.File;
    string spfileExt = new FileInfo(f.Name).Extension;
    f.MoveTo(properties.ListItem.ParentList.RootFolder.Url +
    "/" + properties.ListItem["Title"]+ "_new" + spfileExt);
    f.Update();
    EventFiringEnabled = true;

  • How do you change the name of a folder/file on an expansion drive

    How do you change the name of a folder/file on an expansion drive or external hard drive?

    The same way you change it on the internal drive; click on the name and wait a second or two for the field to drop into editing mode, then just type the new name. Or Get Info on the file/folder and change the name there.
