Charset conversion of incoming XML documents

XML documents may contain data in other charsets than SAP's UTF-8. I'm using the ixml lib in ABAP.  Using 'get_encoding', I can determine the incoming document's charset, but it seems only after having parsed it. I'd like to convert the entire document to the current SAP charset before processing.  I didn't find a way in the ixml methods to do this, so I imagine I'll have to use CL_ABAP_CONV_IN_CE somehow.
What's the best way to handle non-SAP charsets in incoming XML documents?

ha that was just a joke. check the link below

  • Identifying an XML document type

    I am reading XML message off a queue using JMS and I want to determine the XML document type so I can use the proper schema for validation. Since different XML documents will be coming in off the same queue I need to determine the document type so I can use the proper schema for validation.
    Is there a good way to do this? So far I have been doing the following but I am looking for a better solution:
    *Use the JMS headers to store the XML message type.  Not always possible.
    *Read the first few lines of the XML as a file and parse for the root node or .xsd.

    What I am refering to is a situation where I have one queue that has multiple incoming XML documents.
    For example:
    PurchaseOrder.xml needs to be read off a queue validated via PurchaseOrder.xsd
    PartsOrder.xml needs to be read off the same queue and validated with PartsOrder.xsd. I am trying to find and eloquent solution to identify if I have a PartsOrder or a PurchaseOrder, so I can set the proper schema for validation when parsing the XML doc.

    Hi folks
    I am writing this mail in the hope of getting a help.Please
    give me a shoulder to keep me going.
    The task is to parse a XML document for a specific Tag and
    read the Tag content in CLOB to return CLOB.
    I know that the writetoclob will do the job as
    per oracle documentation.
    I am giving the code where i got stuck.
    Please help me complete my rest of coding.
    Thanks
    Input variables are
    XMLin in CLOB, -- Incoming XML Document Structure
    Partype in varchar2, -- Tagname
    Result out CLOB -- Return Tag value CLOB data type.
    My Code : -
    Declare
    p xmlparser.parser;
    d xmldom.DOMDocument;
    e xmldom.DOMElement;
    nl xmldom.DOMNodeList;
    n xmldom.DOMNode;

    First, you have 2 variables with the same name,
    Second, let me show you what is that you need to do:
    PROCEDURE WriteDataToClob(XMLin in CLOB, Partype in varchar2, Result out CLOB) IS
    Declare
    p xmlparser.parser;
    d xmldom.DOMDocument;
    e xmldom.DOMElement;
    nl xmldom.DOMNodeList;
    n xmldom.DOMNode;
    tagvalue varchar2(255);
    TempClob Clob;
    BEGIN
    --Create a temporary clob
    dbms_lob.createtemporary(TempClob,true);
    --loading SecXML
    --defining parser
    p := xmlparser.newparser;
    xmlparser.parseClob(p,XMLin);
    d := xmlparser.getDocument(p);
    --get tagvalue
    nl := xmldom.getElementsByTagName(d,partype);
    n := xmldom.item(nl,0);
    IF xmldom.getlength (nl) > 0 THEN
    n := xmldom.item (nl, 0);
    xmldom.writetoclob (n, TempClob );
    END IF;
    Result := TempClob;
    dbms_lob.FreeTemporary(TempClob);
    END;

  • How to ftp XML document into a XML type which is not created by itself.

    Hi,
    1.
    I have a table call SNPLEX_DESIGN which is created automaticly when I register a snplex_design.xsd XML schema.( Oracle creates it through the xdb:defaultTable="SNPLEX_DESIGN attribute). and it is created using SNPLEX user account.
    2.
    I also created a folder (resource) call /home/SNPLEX/Orders. which is used to hold all the incoming XML document.
    3.
    I created another user account call SNPLEX_APP, which is the only user account allowed to FTP XML document into /home/SNPLEX/Orders folder.
    Isuues,
    If I login as SNPLEX user, I can ftp XML document into the folder and TABLE (the file size = 0). But If I login as SNPLEX_APP user account, I can only ftp XML document into the folder, but Oracle doesn't store the document into the table( becuase the files size shows a number).
    I have granted all the ACL privileges on the /home/SNPEX/Orders folder to SNPLEX_APP hrough OEM.
    DO I miss anything. Any helps will be great appreciated. Resolve this issues is very import to us, sicne we are on a stage to roll system into production.
    Regards,
    Jinsen

    IN order for a registered schema to be available to other users the schema must be registered as a GLOBAL, rather than a LOCAL Schema. This is controlled by the third agument passed to registerSChema, and the default is local. Note that you will also need to explicity grant appropriate permissions on any tables created by the schema registration process to other users who will be loading or reading data from these tables.

  • XML document conversion to Plain document in XI using JMS Adapter?

    Hi,
    We are trying to send an soap based XML document from ECC to MQSeries 6.0 using PI 7.0. I created receiver communicaiton channel to MQ with the below modules
    1. AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean - Module Key XML2Plain
    2. SAP XI JMS Adapter/ConvertMessageToBinary - Module Key CallJMSService
    3. SAP XI JMS Adapter/SendBinarytoXIJMSService - Module Key Exit
    Module configuration parameters I provided are
    XML2Plain-  Transform.Class com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.Conversion
                       TransformContentType text/plain;charset=utf-8
                       xml.addHeaderLine 0
                       xml.conversionType SimpleXML2Plain
                       xml.fieldSeparator ,
                       xml.fixedLengthTooShortHandling Cut
    The payload I am using is

    <ns0:MT_Company xmlns:ns0="http://bnsf.com/hr/tm">
       <Row CCODE="1001" DESC="test company"/>
    </ns0:MT_Company>
    When I test in RWB
    1. The channel monitoring shows green and the below message
    "Successfully connected to destination 'queue:///QL_DAVEOUT?targetClient=1"
    2. RWB shows error message "Error while sending message:invalid content type  for SOAP:TEXT/HTML;HTTP 500 Timeout"
    3. when I look at the message, I see the last message shows as
    "2008-06-16 15:16:44 Success Transform: transforming the payload ..." and I do not see any more messages.
    Can anyone help me here? Thanks in advance

    </html> Below is the code snippets that illustrates how I tried to retrieve the attribute title of <a>:
    1. BufferedReader incomingbrXml = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("C:\City.xml"));
    2. SAXBuilder saxBuilder = new SAXBuilder(false);
    3. Document jdomXmlDocument = saxBuilder.build(incomingbrXml);4. String city_content = null;
    5. XPath cityXPath = XPath.newInstance("/ns:html/ns:body/ns:div[@id='content']/ns:table[@class='sresults']/ns:tr/ns:td/ns:a/@title");
    6. java.util.List cityList = cityXPath.selectNodes(jdomXmlDocument);
    7. Iterator city_iterator = cityList.iterator();
    8. while (city_iterator.hasNext()) {
    9.     city_content = ((org.jdom.Attribute)city_iterator.next()).getValue();
    10.   if (city_content.length() != 0) {
    11.       System.out.println("Area Url:" + area_content.toString()); }
    12. } I would like to get the following output:
    Hollywood , CA
    San Jose , CA
    San Francisco , CA
    San Diego , CA
    Instead, the jdomXmlDocument is made up of only the first few lines of City.xml and nothing on the body when debugging in Netbeans and nothing in cityList. I am running this program online so there would not be an issue with entity resolver that took place on line 2.
    I am running JDK 1.6.0_17, Netbeans 6.7, JDOM 1.1, Saxon9.1 on Windows XP platform.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jack.

    Hi,
    Correction to line 11 - System.out.println("City title:" + city_content.toString()); instead.
    Thanks,
    Jack

  • Problem with encoding of xml document

    while parsing an xml document with SAX parser, i found that encoding of the xml document received as input stream is "ISO-8859-1" . After parsing certain fields has to be stored in the mysql table where table character set is "utf8" . Now what i found that ceratin characters in the original XML document are stored as question mark (?) in the database.
    1. I am using mysql 4.1.7 with system variable character_set_database as "utf8". So all my tables have charset as "utf8".
    2. I am parsing some xml file as inputsream using SAX parser api (org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser ) with encoding "iso-8859-1". After parsing certain fields have to be stored in mysql database.
    3. Some XML files contain a "iso-8859-1" character with character code 146 which appears like apostrophes but actually it is : - and the problem is that words like cant are shown as can?t by database.
    4. I notiicied that parsing is going on well and character code is 146 while parsing. But when i reterive it from the database using jdbc it shows character code as 63.
    5. I am using jdbc to prepared statement to insert parsed xml in the database. It seems that while inserting some problem occurs what is this i don't know.
    6. I tried to convert iso-8859-1 to utf-8 before storing into database, by using
    utfString = new String(isoString.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"),"UTF-8");
    But still when i retreive it from the databse it shows caharcter code as 63.
    7. I also tried to retrieve it using , description = new String(rs.getBytes(1),"UTF-8");
    But it also shows that description contains character with code 63 instead of 146 and it is also showing cant as can?t
    help me out where is the problem in parsing or while storing and retreiving from database. Sorry for any spelling mistakes if any.

    Scroll down in that page and you'll see that the character code 146 -- which would be 92 in hexadecimal -- is in the "unused" area of ISO8859-1. I don't know where you got the idea that it represents some kind of apostrophe-like character but it doesn't.
    Edit: Actually, I do know where you got that idea. You got it from Windows-1252:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows-1252
    Not the same charset at all.

  • How to map an large XML document to the XMLType with TopLink in JDev

    Hello!
    We need to map an XML document in the Java String to an XMLType column. If the XML document has less than 4000 characters, we have no problems by using the DirectToField mapping. However, once the XML document has more than 4000 characters, using the DirectToField mapping, we got the error: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink - 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) (Build 060118)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DatabaseException
    Internal Exception: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
    Then we have tried to use the "Type Conversion" mapping, to map it to the database type (Clob or NClob --oracle.toplink.oraclespecific). we got:
    Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink - 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0.0) (Build 060118)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DatabaseException
    Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got CLOB
    Error Code: 932
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks Matt! It works fine by using DirectToXMLTypeMapping.
    However, to get it work is not smooth. In particularly, we use Jdev in our project and Jdev has not included this feature yet. Therefore, I had to use the TopLink Workbench to create the descriptor file and cut&paste to the description file that generated by JDev. And also xdb.jar has to be part of the classpath.
    Then I come to an question -- how can we take some features that only provided by the TopLink Workbench into the Jdev environment without having to hack around?
    Thanks,

  • Problem in digitally signing a particular element of an XML Document

    hi all!!
    I was trying to sign a particular element of an XML document using JSR105 (XML Digital Signatures) API.
    For which i used +#xpointer(id('idvalue'))+ and +#idvalue+ as the URI for the reference i create as below :
    Reference ref = fac.newReference("#xpointer(id('123')) ", fac.newDigestMethod(DigestMethod.SHA1, null), Collections.singletonList(fac.newTransform(Transform.ENVELOPED,(TransformParameterSpec) null)), null, null);
    NOTE: Here 123 is the value of the attribute 'id' of the element i wish to sign in the input XML document.
    But when i try to digest and sign the the above created reference, i get the following exception (which is strange! atleast for me!)

    The parser is returning the correct rootNodeName i.e ns1:abcd. rootNodeName always goes with the given input and returns the root element as is.

  • Invalid XML Document in BPEL Human Task - TaskService

    Hi Experts
    I am getting the following run time error in BPEL console in my bpel process which has got a human task.
    ==================================================================
    Invalid xml document.*
    According to the xml schemas, the xml document is invalid. The reason is: Error::cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: '' is not a valid value for 'dateTime'.*
    Error::cvc-type.3.1.3: The value '' of element 'expirationDate' is not valid.*
    Please make sure that the xml document is valid against your schemas.*
    ==================================================================
    BPEL console is validating all incoming and outgoing XML document against the relevant schema since the configuration property, validateXML has
    set to strict in the BPE console domain, which it has to be.
    This complain is regarding the element expirationDate in the response message of the human task, which cannot be explicitly set in the bpel process.
    Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks

    Hi
    This has been escalated to Oracle and has been identified as a bug.
    Anyway, can you please explain bit more about you workaround?

  • Does income xml request get validated against wsdl?

    Hi, there:
    I'm using document/literal web service. My question is: Does income xml request get validated automatically against wsdl complex type xml schema? If not is there any configuration way we can set to validate income xml request automatically?
    I searched posts in this forum, it seems the same question was asked long long time ago already, but no answer. So, I want to check that question again.
    I simply tested my web service by using soapUI, it seems no xml validation implemented on any request at all.
    Highly appreciated if any help or comment, thanks a lot in advance.
    David

    Thank you very much jwenting for the reply. We are using jbossWs.
    Yes, I definately agree that it's very cool that wsdl is generated on the fly, and all xml message is parsed to java bean automatically by jaxb. However, my 2 cents is:
    1. How can I generate other xml schema restrictions in wsdl on the fly except "enum" (ex. pattern, minInclusive, maxInclusive etc.)? Currently, it seems only @XmlEnum can generate "enum" restriction in wsdl automatically, no other restrictions could be generated automatically in wsdl.
    2. Even if I have those restrictions defined manually in wsdl, as it doesn't implement validation on income xml request, and I should do the validation inside my webservice logic, which means that even if I have those xml schema restrictions defined in wsdl, they are useless.
    That's the reason I want to check if anyway the validation can be implemented automatically on income xml request.
    Again, highly appreciated any further helps or comments. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Referencing incoming XML in start node

    Hi,
    (Using WLI 2.1, WLS 6.1)
    Just wanted to clarify an issue that is at the root of an earlier thread.
    When configuring my workflow in Studio I seem unable to use an Xpath function
    as part of the key expression in my start node.
    The following generates an exception when I try to save it
    ToString(XPath("/Trade/tradeid/text()"))
    The exception is
    "The server was unable to complete your request.
    Workflow error: The XPath function requires an XML document.
    Workflow error: com.bea.wlpi.evaluator.EvaluatorException: The XPath function
    requires an XML document.
         <<no stack trace available>>"
    I've defined the event expression for Trade, have specified Trade as my root element
    in tthe start node, and have successfully used the same Xpath expression in the
    key expressions of subsequent event nodes without trouble.
    According to the Xpath documentation if I don't specify the XML document as a
    parameter it will assume its the incoming message. This is exactly what I want.
    any ideas ?
    Cheers,
    mairt

  • How to convert XML document to xml variable?

    Hi,
    I have taken an xml variable in my process and reading a xml document file. Can anyone tell me how can i convert this xml document to xml variable so that i can parse the xml variable.
    I am able to convert xml variable to xml document variable by using set value activity. But how do I perform reverse process.
    I want to perform this conversion because i want to keep xml data in document format on storage drive and then parse this xml data so that i can read the nodes.
    Any help will be appreciated..
    Regards
    Sunil

    we can use set value activity to reach these xml docs and assign it to xml variable.
    Then parsing of this xml can be browsed to find the nodes.
