Check if files exist using ABAP

Hi All,
I'm currently using FM: FILE_GET_NAME_USING_PATH, and I'd like to do a check to see if the filepath with file (i.e. /com/tmp/file.txt) I am getting back exists or not.
Very simple question, just not sure what to do.
Thanks,
John

There is a class that provides methods to check, if a file exist or if a certain directory does exist
  CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>directory_exist
    EXPORTING
      directory            = lv_path
    RECEIVING
      result               = lv_valid
    EXCEPTIONS
      cntl_error           = 1
      error_no_gui         = 2
      wrong_parameter      = 3
      not_supported_by_gui = 4
      OTHERS               = 5.
      CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>file_exist
        EXPORTING
          file                 = x_file_with_path
        RECEIVING
          result               = y_file_exists
        EXCEPTIONS
          cntl_error           = 1
          error_no_gui         = 2
          wrong_parameter      = 3
          not_supported_by_gui = 4
          OTHERS               = 5.
Hope that helps,
Michael

  • In ecatt - how to check at database level using ABAP

    Hi,
    How to check at database level using ABAP in Ecatt tool.
    say,for example I want to check a particular sales order is invoiced or not ,at the database level and if it is invoiced I have stop proceeding to invoicing of that sales order number.
    Could anybody suggest on this with an example?
    thanks.

    Hi,
    you can use the command GETTAB to access single db records.
    Full specified or partitial specified keys can be use at GETTAB. It will return always only one record, also if a couple could match your selection.
    For more advanced scenarios you can also use eCATTs Inline ABAP. In a block between the commands ABAP. ENDABAP. you can code ABAP statements, e.g. SELECT ... INTO TABLE ...
    eCATT script parameters of type 'V' defined in that script using ABAP/ENDABAP will be transfered into the ABAP block and back to script after ABAP perform.
    Best regards

  • Checking file exist using file exist operator

    Hi all,
    My environment is owb 9i. DB is oracle 9.2.0.8
    My business requirement is,
    If file exists in the landing directory the next instant my mapping should start execution other wise it should wait untill the file arrives there.
    How could i achive this functionality???
    For this i am utilizing the file exist operator in process flow.
    When the file exists in the specified directory i am able to execute the process flow quite fine but when the file doesnt exist in the specified directory the file exist operator is in wait state and even after when the file is placed into the directory, still the process flow remains in the wait state.
    please suggest me a way.
    thanks in advance.
    ram.

    Hi Ram,
    The problem you are hitting here is that there is no wait activity and no loop activity (yet) in the process flow editor. So it is hard to model this logically.
    Would it be a good idea to write shell script that does similar things? You could check for a file, pauze and check again. Then error out or succeed...
    In the 10gR2 release of OWB you can completely model this using waits and loops.
    Thanks,
    Jean-Pierre

  • Use thread to check for file exists. How?

    public class FileSearcher extends Thread
         String name = "Unknown";
         //RunFileSearcher rfs = new RunFileSearcher(name);
         //FileSearcher rfs = new FileSearcher(name);
         File f = new File();
         Thread t = new Thread(); // create  the thread
         t.start(); // start the thread running
         public void run(name)
              if( f.exists(name) )
                   System.out.println("*** File " + f + " has been created. ***");
              else
                   System.out.println("Searching for file " + f) ;
    }How do I use each thread to check for each file exists per sec??
    Please Help Thanks

    1) Why are you using Threads?
    2) It is preferrable to implement Runnable.
    3) This is all incredibly pointless (see point 1)

  • Problem Checking if File Exists When App is Launched

    I'm developing an app which checks a file "lastuser.txt" to determine which database to open, as sometimes people share phones. Anyway, I'm trying to call  TryGetItemAsync() in the OnLaunched() section in App.xaml.cs but I get the message
    "The name 'TryGetItemAsync' does not exist in the current context".  I am new to C# and phone app development. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is my code:

    It seems that TryGetItemAsync is a method on a StorageFolder, so you will need to do something like:
    myStorageFolder.TryGetItemAsync(LastUser);

  • Check if file exists returns false. File is in system32

    I'm having a problem detecting if a file exists which was simply copied to the system32 directory.  I tried moving the file to various other directories and simply using a vi with the "Check if file or folder exists" action.  I've narrowed it down to not being able to find the file if I copy it to either c:\windows or c:\windows\system32.
    I thought this could be a permissions issue, but did my best to assign the user name full control of the folders.
    Another interesting thing is if I make the file input a control and click on the "folder" icon to open a list of files, I cannot see the newly copied files in system32 directory either.  Very strange.
    This is on a Dell PC, Windows 7 professional/Labview 2010 SP1 (note I am running the vi. as an executable on this machine).  Could it be some setting in my project build?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    If you're using Windows 7 64-bit, it may be related to the problems the user was having here:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Problem-Using-quot-msg-quot-command-with-quot-System-Exec-vi/m-p/153...
    It may be that the LabVIEW functions are 32-bit and are getting redirected.

  • Applet checking if file exist and if no copy this file

    Halo, everyone,
    I'm new to java and I need an applet which is able to check if certain file exist on user's hard drive and if not to copy it.
    I read that this is possible in certain circumstances, that applet has to be trustes and so on, but that's not my problem. My request is the applet code that checks of existance of certain file.
    I'll lbe very thankful if someone could give me such applet or point me to place where I can see steps to creare it myself.
    Thank you in advace onse again.

    Thnaks a lot for your answers. I really ppreciate!
    How could I make the applet using such permissions i
    how than it would work?I don't understand, in your first post you said "I read that this is possible in certain circumstances, that applet has to be trustes and so on, but that's not my problem. ". I assumed from this that someone else was dealing with the security aspects.
    A starting point to signing Applets is - http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Security/Signed/ but Google willl find you a whole load of information.

  • Java script in HTMLDB to check if file exists in Unix file system

    How do I use javascript to check if file is exists in Unix file system. I would like to dispaly the columns only if file is exists.

    Hello,
    This is one of those features that the manuals do not cover.
    How to use and build AJAX features could be a whole book all by itself, and it's not really HTML DB specific feature even though we have built some hooks in application and javascript to make it easier.
    Take a look at this thread

  • Check if file exists in file receiver adapter

    hello,
      we have following scenario -> proxy to file
      before appending to the file, it should be copied/renamed to a "tmp" file
      xi should then append to that tmp file and copy/rename the file back to the normal name
    I tried it with "Run operating system command before message processing" but
    it's not working
    anybody has an example on how to use those settings before/after message processing ?
    regards,
    michel

    Hi Michel,
    little confused,
    1) before message processing do there any file exists?
    2) why should we change file name to 'tmp' and append data to that and again rename that file ?
    con't we directly proceed in append mode with file name?
    When we use single command say for example cp or mv (copy or move) the commands then
    eg: cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    when we club commands together or try to redirect the outputs of commands
    eg: cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt & mv %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
            or
          cp %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
          mv %F /var/opt/data/outbound/Test/Dummy.txt
    Include all ur command in one file and call that file in the OS parameter

    Hi,
      Where exactly you want to open the file?
    The most simple way  would be to upload the file under MIMES and provide the URL in the corresponding ITS service.

  • How to Check Images File Exist? in different server

    Hi,
    I have 10 different coldfusion server.
    for example 9 server is for the web application site - for
    example
    http://myserverone/studentweb
    the other one is for images website, just for displaying
    student picture - for example
    http://myserverimage/studentpicture.
    the purpose of this website is to display student picture
    that i store as gif files.
    from my studentweb website i will call the images from
    studentpicture website as source for my image placeholder.
    for example this is my code i'm calling form
    http://myserverone/studentweb
    website:
    <img src="
    http://myserverimage/studentpicture/#studentnumber#.gif"
    alt="" name="studentpicture" width="160" height="200">
    my problem is, if there is no specific student picture in my
    studentpicture website, then the placeholder will display an X (
    mean the images not found )
    how do i prevent the X to display?
    how do i using coldfusion or any kind of way to check if the
    images exist on that website ( different server ), so if the images
    is not found, i can display a default images? i can do this if i'm
    calling the website in the same server, but not using a different
    server.
    this is like using other website images for your own personal
    website and sometimes the owner delete the images from their
    website, and i want to display my own images if that images been
    removed from the source website.
    anyone have done this before?
    thanks for suggestion and guide...
    haire

    1. Use CFHTTP with method="HEAD".
    2. See, if the HTTP status code is 200.
    The head-method is of course more efficient, as it doesn't
    need to "get" the message body. However, a status code of 200 is
    possible even when the requested image file is no longer on the
    server.
