Check in files stored on http-addresses

Hi All,
I am working with Document Info Records (DIR).
We first wanted to create orignals which just contained a link to a http-address a with jpg file. Since it was a link to a file that might got updated we didn't check in the original.
But now we might need to check in the files and therfore I have some questions.
Is there any problems in checking files from http-addresses?
Is there anything I need to think about when choosing/defining storage catergory?
Can I use default storage DMS, DMS_C1_ST?
What is the capacity of this storage? What maintenance is needed?
Is there anything else that need to be considered when storing a large number of files?
Please let me know if you have any useful information about this matter
Kind regards
Mikael

1. Is there any problems in checking files from http-addresses?
It won't work standard, you may have to use an enhancement to download the file to a temp directory before it checks in
2.Is there anything I need to think about when choosing/defining storage catergory? Can I use default storage DMS, DMS_C1_ST?
No, not recommended if volumes are high. Create a new storage category and use an external content server if your volumes will be high.
3. What is the capacity of this storage? What maintenance is needed?
Internal database is not recommended for production environments, but you could probably put up to 60000 docs in there if they were small docs. I.e. not Drawings. If you use an external content server, the capacity is up to 1000000/server if I remember correctly.
4 Is there anything else that need to be considered when storing a large number of files?
Caching if you intend using them at a number of locations and the individual files sizes are large.
Can you give more detail on exactly what the application is? I.e. what types of documents do you intend storing?

  • Editing XMP metadata in Bridge for checked-out files?

Our custom connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability because we do not want to change the XMP of a file in our DAM system without checking in a new file version.
However, when a file is checked out through Adobe Drive, we would expect to be able to edit its XMP metadata in Bridge just like we can for local files.
It looks like this is still not possible with Adobe Drive 3, i.e. if your connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability you cannot edit XMP for checked out files either.
It seems weird that you can edit XMP metadata for checked out files with regular CS applications but not with Bridge. Is this something that is expected to be fixed in a future version?
    Thanks

In our design, editing XMP data in Bridge and in regular CS applications is different, the former one will be routed to SetXMPHandler in you connector, in the latter case, CS applications take the normal file writting ways to embed XMP data in the file content.
The purpose of this design is to offer similar user experience for normal users when they edit XMP data for AD assets and local file assets, they don't need to check-out files first.
To address your issue, I think you can add some codes in SetXMPHandler to auto check-out files before real XMP operation, and check-in them before exiting the handler
We will consider to make some enhancements for this part, that's, to allow editng XMP data for the checked-out files in Br, in the next release, thanks for this advice.

  • E26 253 Error while checking in and storing: \\sapserver\file.tif

    Hi Experts,
I have now been fighting with this problem for a couple of weeks, and not been able to solve the issue.
My problem is to upload/check-in documents from the application serve in background.
I have a program to create DIF and attach files using BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2.
When I'm running the program in foreground there is no problem.
When I run it in background I get the error message E26 254 Error while checking in and storing:
    sapserver\file.tif
I have checked that the background process can see the document on the server and that is OK, so the problem must be within the actual storing of the document in DMS in the BAPI.
Any input to how I can solve this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    Hi All,
We have now done some testing.
We got it to work on one of our systems but not on the other
I ran report RSCMST on both systems with the same backend directory. (A directory on the application server of the one that fails).
Running this report I get this result on the system that does not work.

  • How to check the file size before loading it to the context

    Hello,
I have an application to upload a file and write it to the server using the FileUpload UI and IWDResource Interface.
I would like to limit the size of the file the user is uploading to, say, 2MB.
The problem is that the current API doesn't allow me to check the file size before I store it in IWDResource. The API available for IWDResource:
    IWDResource resource = ...
    InputStream stream = resource.read(false);
    size = stream.available();
Is working on the file only AFTER storing it in the context and the server's memory. This way, if a user decides to upload 1GB file for example, he can easily crash the server.
I am already familiar with <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00062266-3aa9-2910-d485-f1088c3a4d71">this</a> arcticle but it doesn't answer this question as well, all it does is calculating the file size only after storing it in the context.
    Any ideas...?

    Hi, Nithin,
    Check this also in development
    In your local machine Goto
    C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
There will be file called "hosts"
in that file plz specify the IP of the content server.
    Eg;
    <IP address> <Content server name>
    102.210.23.186 My Content server
    Save the file.
Restart the machine and then try check-in the file in content server.

    Dear
Whille saving then document in dms , i am getting this error.....
Error message is : "Error while checking in and storing: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documen...."
    Message Number is 26253
    R Karthikeyan

    Hi all,
Similar kind of issue occurred in one of our webdynpro applications of SAP NetWeaver Portal-
The error message "Error while checking in and storing" was returned by the BAPI while trying to replace documents in the DMS Server via portal.
But the documents were getting stored in the back end by the use of standard T-Codes.
Later it was found that ABAP tables COMPONENTS & COMPONENT_DATA are inconsistent by looking into the HTTP trace file.
The HTTP patch "http.c#21" was being used in our server.
SAP suggested the below mentioned steps-
-->Download the most recent SAPHTTP version & install it.
-->Then delete the RFC connections SAPHTTP & SAPHTTPA through T-Code SM59
-->Regenerate them again with report RSHTTP05
They were carried out in our ECC server & the issue was resolved.
Please try them out if applicable in your case & let us know.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Shreyashri Kar

  • Create a Document with an original file stored on application server

    Hello,
I start with document managment system : i am able to create new document (CV01N) manually, add a local file and check-in this file.
Now we need to store file which are stored on the SAP Application Server.
Firstly, in the GUI of transaction CV01N, i don't know how to browse file on application server. All files i can't attach as original, are files i can access from my computer.
Is it possible to access also on application server files ?
Moreover, i have to define function module which have to
    - Create a document (DMS)
    - Attach an orginial file which is stored on application server
    - Check-in the file
This function module will be called from a web application
I define this kind of function and run it correctly with a local file (stored on my computer) : i call BAPI "BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2" and "BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN2"
But i don't how to do with a file stored on application server. I see also note 504692 and try a program like ZZUZTEST_TEST_CHECKIN which use FM CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN but it return an error Error uploading  E:\usr\sap\TD1\DVEBMGS00\data\FACTURE.txt" (this path and file exist on application server and is really the file i want to checkin)
Please could you confirm what i search, is possible or not.
If possible, could help me with some explanations and guidelines and perhaps a sample ?
    Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Eric

This is a bit tricky. I spent lots of hours about this .
You have to set PF_HOSTNAME with your name of your AS and gives the path to the file on the server.
    You wrote
    *PF_HOSTNAME = w_host
But beware: if you have more thän one AS you have to fix one AS for upload or you have to find the servers name of the file. A better way can be to share one folder by each AS.
You also have to decide between HTTP or FTP.
    You wrote:
      PF_FTP_DEST = 'SAPFTPA'
      PF_HTTP_DEST = 'SAPHTTPA'
You must define only one ! Then you have to check your settings in SM59 about working right.
Pls rate, if this was helpful.

  • On Safari https addresses would not work, while on Firefox this is no problem? What happened and what can I do to fix this?, On Safari https addresses would not work, while on Firefox this is no problem? What happened and what can I do to fix this?

On Safari all https addresses would not show up while on Firefox they just work fine. For example Facebook or the Appstore are not possible for me to see on Safari? How can I solve the problem?

    Hey juliane1205,
    First, try these steps:
Open Keychain Access, located in the Utilites folder in the Applications folder.
Choose Keychain Access > Keychain First Aid.
Enter your user name and password.
Select Verify and click Start. Any problems found will be displayed.
If there are problems, select Repair, and then click Start.
To change the Keychain First Aid settings, choose Keychain Access > Preferences, and then click First Aid.
Then I would repair disk permissions:
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X.
Software updates sometimes change a file’s permissions to improve security, so updating your software can solve some permissions problems.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.
Select the disk you want to check.
You can verify or repair permissions only on a disk with Mac OS X v10.7 Lion installed.
    Click First Aid.
    Do one of the following:
Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions.
Click Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions.
And lastly, restart your computer, and see if that helps. If it doesn't, report back.

  • Some emails display images as http address

I have a new Macbook Air. I get regular emails from eBay, etc and they contain images. Lately some emails, not all, do not display the images. Instead there is an HTTP address that if I open takes me to the images in Safari. I have all the settings to display HTM images. If I check the same email message on my iPad or iPhone it does show the images. The problem is only on the MacBook Air. Any thought on fixing this??

This seems a rather minor problem to me, but if you really want to pursue it, you can try the following.
Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Can't Load Pages - Proxy PAC file stored locally

    Hi folks,
I was using last Safari 2 version and recently updated to Safari 3.0.4 and 3.1 and then it was impossible to connect using my corporate VPN solution. We use Juniper Network Connect 5.5.0 solution and during connection, this software changes IE7 proxy configuration by editing PAC URL (proto=http://, when connected on corporate network) to a PAC path of a file stored locally in "...\Application Data\Juniper Networks\Network Connect 5.5.0\instantproxy.pac" (proto=file://, when abroad). When I disconnect it, it reverts the changes back to an URL address.
When I found out this, I tried to copy and paste the proxy path stored in IE7 to the Safari address bar and tried to load the file.
    IE7:
    +file://C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Application Data\Juniper Networks\Network Connect 5.5.0\instantproxy.pac+
Safari transform the pasted address to:
    +file:///C:/Documents%2520and%2520Settings/MyName/Application%2520Data/Juniper%25 20Networks/Network%2520Connect%25205.5.0/instantproxy.pac+
And tries to load but then I have a "Safari Can't find the file." error.
Looking back to Safari transformed address, I saw that there is "%2520" code that represents the spaces. But wait..."%20" isn't the space representative code? I think, we have a small bug here...
So I replaced "%2520" codes by "%20" and tried to load the file. As expected the file loads!!!
I reported this as a bug but I hope that someone can share some experience with Safari and|or Juniper Network Connect in order to find a workaround!!

Well without any explanation from Apple, it appears that this bug was fixed. I tested it again on Safari 5.0.4 and it's working great now.

Any webspace that provides enough data transfer to cope with your podcasts will do fine. Although check the terms & conditions of whichever webhost you go for, as some may have restrictions on just using their webspace for externally linked files, rather than a website as well.
How much data transfer your podcasts use will depend on how popular they are. MobileMe webhosting allowed 200GB of data transfer per month. If you never went over that, then as long as the new host matches or exceeds that you'll be ok.

  • Why are .mp4 files stored in "Photos," rather than GoodPlayer?

I e-mail .mp4 videos to myself, open "Mail" on my iPad2, tap on the attachment, and it downloads.
Then I press on the attachment and am given only one option: "Save video?"
I tap on it and it is saved in "Photos." I am not given the option of "Open with," so that I can file it with GoodPlayer, which plays such files..
    Can anyone tell me why?
How can I store it from e-mail in the app that plays it (without messing with iTunes on my computer)??
I tried to "Copy" and "Paste" it into GoodPlayer, but the "Paste" command does not work in GoodPlayer.
    Thanks.

I'm curious, too. At the moment, clicking on a link to an MP3 file like "http://mydomain.com/mp3/file1.mp3" gives me a message like this:
Safari can’t open “http://mydomain.com/mp3/file1.mp3” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “http:”.
Safari doesn't recognize an http: address?? What' up with that?
