Checkbox and javascript onClick

I have defined an sql region with the following query:
SELECT HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(1,serviceid) " ",
servicedescription
FROM service
where coid = :P1_COID
ORDER BY 2
Although I read a few threads and Howtos about Javascript I didn't achieve my goal to redirect (submit) the page to itself everytime the checkbox is changed. I tried to manage this by setting
onClick="javascript:doSubmit('Submitted');"
in the element attribute of the serviceid column but with no success.
Besides this I would like to analyze which checkbox (service) is checked. According to the selected services different regions should be shown/hidden on the page. May be someone could point me to the right direction.
Thanks Tobias

I solved it by myself...

  • Refresh HTMLB checkbox by JavaScript

    Hi all, I have two HTMLB checkboxes on the browser(IE6.0).
    I would like to selecte one of thses and set the other one
    checked or unchecked. I can get the checkbox's ID on the client side. I can display the boolean value if the checkbox is checked or unchecked. But I can not set the checkbox checked or unchecked and let it displayed. The Javascript code on client side is shown as below:
    // ckid - id of the target checkbox,
    // myContent - objct of PageContext
    // test() is triggered by one of the two chechboxes
    //String ck_id=myContext.getParamIdForComponent(ckid);
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function test()
       var myval = document.getElementById('<%=ck_id%>');
       alert(myval.checked);
       myval.checked = true;
    Any hint will be appreciated.

    Hi Dagfinn, thanks for reply. My code is as follows, the missing 'e' is my typing error,
    String s2 = "<script>"

    +"document.forms[\'myForm\'].checkbox1.checked=!document.forms[\'myForm\'].checkbox1.checked"
    +"}"
    + "function toggle2(){"
    +"document.forms[\'myForm\'].checkbox2.checked=!document.forms[\'myForm\'].checkbox2.checked"

    getForm().addRawText(s2);
    The error message happens to both of them when they are clicked.

  • Error using java and javascript

    I have a jsp page that links to a bean and is working fine (getting data from the database).
    On a html form I have a button with a picture that fires off javascript when clicked:
    <BUTTON TYPE=reset onclick=showinfo('<%=index%>')>
    <IMG SRC="http://localhost:8080/Portal/Images/q2.bmp" ALT="Info">
    </BUTTON>
    The javascript function just opens a new window and displays the text sent in:
    <Script Language=JavaScript>
    function showinfo(arrayindex)
    InfoWin=window.open("","InfoWin","width=345,height=220");
    InfoWin.document.write(arrayindex);
    return false;
    </Script>
    Well in the above example index is a number (pulled from the database using a java bean and javascript converts it into a string then the function displays it correctly. If I replace <%=index%> with regular text it works fine as well(because java isn't used to pull data)! The problem occurs when I retrieve text data from the database and send it to the function. The web page gives errors about a nonterminating string. But I can move the code to somewhere else on the form(as long as I don't send it to java script) and it will print the text to the screen. I can also view the source of the web page and the html shows the text from the data base as if I hard coded the text into the javascript!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This must be a bug between java and javascript!
    -can pass numbers(from a database) between the two
    -can't pass text (from a database)between the two
    Any info would help!

    Found the problem myself!
    I am using an odbc connection to msaccess and the spaces in the text was messing things up!
    After taking out the spaces it worked again.

  • ADF UIX and Javascript

    Hello,
    I am new in ADF UIX...
    I have a table in ADF UIX and I would like to use some my javascript functions. I know I have to set: <table proxied="true">....</table> but where I can write my functions, in an included file ? I mean, how does the interaction between the XML configuration file and javascript work ?
    Thank in advance,
    Henry

    Hi Rade Todorovich,
    As mentioned previously, if you had placed the javascript as indexed child of head element it would be fine.
    <Head> is named child of <metaContainer> which inturn is named child of <document> element. The example below should make it clear.
    This is how the UIX document would be
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252"?>
    <page xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/controller"
    xmlns:ui="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui"
    xmlns:ctrl="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/controller"
    xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"
    expressionLanguage="el">
    <content>
    <dataScope xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui">
    <provider>
    <!-- Add DataProviders (<data> elements) here -->
    </provider>
    <contents>
    <document>
    <metaContainer>
    <!-- Set the page title -->
    <head title="test">
    <contents>
    <!-- case 1 -->
    <script source="./cabo/js/test.js"/>
    <script>
    <contents>
    function theFunction()
    alert('the function');
    </contents>
    </script>
    </contents>
    </head>
    </metaContainer>
    <contents>
    <body>
    <contents>
    <form name="form0">
    <!-- case 2 -->
    <contents>
    <script>
    <contents>
    function hi()
    alert('hi');
    </contents>
    </script>
    <button text="call-hi" name="fn" onClick="return hi();"/>
    <button text="call-theFunction" name="fn1" onClick="return theFunction();"/>
    </contents>
    </form>
    </contents>
    </body>
    </contents>
    </document>
    </contents>
    </dataScope>
    </content>
    <handlers>
    <!-- Add EventHandlers (<event> elements) here -->
    </handlers>
    </page>
    There are two usages:
    Case 1
    In your html it would just appear the way you would normally write a JS function with in the head
    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    <META>
    <script language="javascript" src="./cabo/js/test.js">
    <!-- case 1-->
    <scirpt language="javascript">
    theFunction()
    </script>
    </head>
    <!-- case 2 -->
    <form ....>
    </form>
    <script language="javascript">
    function hi()
    alert('hi');
    </script>
    </html>
    Case 2
    As such <script> element can occur in HTML document.
    as mentioned in http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/scripts.html#h-18.2.1
    In the same way UIX also allows the use of script element with in its <body> element.
    With case 2 you can see the way the script gets inlined in the HTML document. Please run the UIX and view source for the rendered page. It should become obvious.
    Thanks,

  • Execute Apply in checkbox in Javascript

    Good day,
    I have a WAD template that has an Analysis Item, a checkbox and a button. When the button is clicked an Javascript is executed that checks if any of the checkboxes are checked,  if none are checked then all are then checked via the Javascript, the only problem I now have is how do I simulate the executing of the apply button in the Javascript function.
    Regards
    Lucien
    Edited by: Lucien Barnes on Sep 18, 2008 7:10 AM
    What I need is the function that is executed when the button is clicked i.e. what is function the is executed by OnClick

    Good day,
    Solved the problem
    I used the following code.
    // Get the apply button
    var button_checkboxes = document.all(web_item_checkbox_group + "_BIBtnCBG");
    // Simulate click.
    button_checkboxes.click();

  • Css and javascript in text item

    I've read in other threads that you can add javascript and css into simple text items by clicking the 'View HTML Source' checkbox and adding the js and css.
    When I do this then apply it the code that I have added disappears and therefore has no effect on the item.
    Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
    Cheers,
    Steven.

  • Need help with taglib and javascript issue

    I have created two WebSphere portlets (using WebSphere Application Studio), which exchange information by using click-to-action. I have added the click-to-action functionality programatically.
    On my source portlet jsp page I took the java code which generates the click-to-action javascript and added it to a taglib I created. The problem is that now the click-to-action functionality doesn't work.
    When I look at the source code in the browser the javascript and the onClick code is there as it should be, but when I click on the hyperlink, the click-to-action menu is not displayed.
    If I take the java code out of the taglib and put it back into the jsp page it works no probs and on inspection of the generated code it is exactly the same as the code generated by the taglib version.
    I have noticed that when I click the hyperlink to fire the onClick event I get an error message in the browser but when I go to the line number given in the error message, there is no code on that line.
    Any ideas why it doesn't work when put in a taglib?
    Thanks in advance,
    A.

    There can be a million reasons
    1) What is the exact error line?
    2) Try debugging in Mozilla instead of IE. Mozilla's javascript debugger is much better. In IE you may have to look more at the error message then the line it gives you to id where the error occurs.

  • Checkbox value javascript

    I have a form with:  2 text fields (A and B) and a checkbox
          and criteria values X and Y (these values aren't explicitly entered but hidden in the eventual javascript)
    I can't figure out how to do this on Adobe Acrobat using the javascript.
    User enters a value for text field A (a numerical value)
    if the checkbox is checked then if the value of A is greater than X, text field B = 1
    if the checkbox isn't checked then if the value of A is greater than Y, text field B = 1
    I'm hoping to have this done real time (thus not waiting for the form to be submitted).

    A check box or group of check boxes with the same name and different export or optional values, exclusionary group, has the value of the field name when selected or the string value of "Off" when not selected. There is also a check box field method of "isBoxChecked" that can check the individual widget in an exclusionary group.
    You have not described all the possible conditions for the problem. What is the value of field B when A is less than or equal to X and the check box is checked or not checked.

  • How is the length of a string calculated in Java?  and JavaScript?

    Hi all,
    Do any of you know how the length of a string is being calculated in Java and JavaScript? For example, a regular char is just counted as 1 char, but sometimes other chars such as CR, LF, and CR LF are counted as two. I know there are differences in the way Java and JavaScript calculate the length of a string, but I can't find any sort of "rules" on those anywhere online.
    Thanks,
    Yim

    What's Unicode 4 got to do with it? 1 characteris 1
    character is 1 character.
    strings now contain (and Java chars also) is
    UTF-16 code units rather than Unicode characters
    or
    code points. Unicode characters outside the BMPare
    encoded in Java as two or more code units. So it would seem that in some cases, a single
    "character" on the screen, will require two charsto
    represent it.So... you're saying that String.length() doesn't
    account for that? That sux. I don't know. I'm just making infrerences (==WAGs) based on what DrClap said.
    I assume it would return the number of chars in the array, rather than the number of symbols (glyphs?) this translates into. But I might have it bass ackwards.

  • Closing the browser windows created by web.show_document and javascript

    From Forms I am issuing a http request using web.show_document and javascript:window.open(). The http request makes a remote procedure call to a coldfusion component on a JRun appserver. I want this rpc to fire in the background so that the current forms browser window remains as is.
    The logic is as follows
    l_rpcURL := 'http://....just a standard URL.....'; -- edited for this thread
    l_jsURL := 'javascript:window.open("' || l_rpcURL || '","","fullscreen=no,titlebar=no,location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,status=no,resizable=no");self.close();';
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT (l_jsURL,'_blank');
    The http request works fine but leaves a browser window behind. It's the one created by the javascript.window.open(). If I remove the self.close() from the javascript then I have two browser windows open, one from web.show_document and the other, as described previously, from the window.open().
    Any idea how I can force closure of the window opened by the window.open() ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    did this occured afer installing service pack 2?
    A work around is The only solution that is to create a close.html file and calling this file in the code: Web.show_document('http://server:port/close.html','_self');
    <html>
    <body onload="closeit()">
    <script>
    window.close();
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>

  • Using Quicken to manage a bank account, I get an error message from the bank that cookies and javascript must be enabled, but I don't get that message when I connect with Internet Explorer.

    Firefox allows me to get the bank home page through Quicken. But when I try to login, the error message appears saying "cookies and javascript" must be enabled. I have Java on my system, but in Firefox under "tools/options/ I don't find any way to "enable" javascript. I have enabled "cookies".
    I have no problem logging in at the bank site using Internet Explorer, but to use it, I have to designate it as the "default browser" before connecting through Quicken. I'd rather keep Firefox as the default.
    A bank tech representative was unable to find any commands in Firefox that would deal with this problem, although she clearly had manuals for both Internet Explorer and Firefox. So she concluded that I would have to use Explorer for this operation, since it allowed control of security level settings. She said that in Explorer, security level should be set to medium.
    Is there some similar control in Firefox?

    Firefox uses the same "security level" setting that is set in IE.

  • Problem with checkbox and drop down menu

    I am using DW8 with PHP/MySQL.
    I made a insertion form and a couple of the fields are
    checkboxes and another is a drop down menu. Everything works fine,
    however, when I create an update form and the recordset calls the
    data it doesn't retain its values on those items.
    For example, if I checked a box when inserting the record and
    then call the data up for the update form, the box is not checked,
    making the user believe it was never checked in the first place.
    The same thing goes for the drop down menu. If I have 3
    options in the menu and someone selects the third one, when the
    update form is used it defaults to the first option automatically
    instead of actually calling up the original value selected.

    The fact that two scripts do not work together does not mean
    there is a bug in the RH script. It is simply that they were not
    designed by their respective developers to work together. This
    happens with multiple scripts in any html file.
    Try creating a new project and then importing just this topic
    into it. Does it still have the problem?
