Checking the file content in application server

Hi,
I am writing an XML file from the raw XSF data from a smartform auto generated function module through OPEN DATASET command in BINARY MODE. When I go to tcode AL11 to check the content of the XML file, I can see only the first few bytes of it as it looks like one single line in AL11. Is there any way so that I can read the whole content of the file in the application server itself without downloading it into my local machine.
Thanks in advance
Nilay Ghosh

You may try eigther transaction AL11 with allows you to browse files and display their content(as long they are textfiles).
If you need specific conversion an own report may help:
first read the file via dataset commands
if content is non readable convert it to chars
split the string into a char or string table
use the command 'editor-call' (check online help) to display this table.
Kind Regards
Klaus

  • Logic to fetch the file name from Application Server

    Hi Friends
I have a requirement that : By giving the Directory name (eg:/tmp),I have to get the all file names stored under that Directory name.
Can anyone please provide me the logic / function modules related to this requirement.
Points are assured for useful answers.

    Hi,
    use these:
    function module "EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING"
FM RZL_DIR_READ instead. its easy and effective to use.
    Or
    FILE_GET_NAME_USING_PATH,
    EPS_GET_DIRECTORY_LISTING
    /SAPDMC/LSM_F4_FRONTEND_FILE
OPEN DATASET <Path / filename> FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE...
if sy-subrc eq 8, then the file does not exist on the application server.

  • Want to know the file path for application server in upload program

Iam doing upload program(i,e)uploading from application server, iam getting run time error while executing the following piece of code
    "OPEN DATASET '/usr/sap/SPE/DVEBMGS00/work/ZPSPAR35_PERS_UP.txt' FOR OUTPUT
                 IN TEXT MODE
                 ENCODING DEFAULT."
if the above code is wrong can u mention the correct one.

    hi,
    <b>Note: 699267</b>
    <b>Symptom</b>
    a) When downloading to the application server a short dump occurs with the error 'UC_OBJECTS_NOT_CHARLIKE'.
    b) When downloading to a presentation server from an SAP system running on Unicode, only half the data is actually transferred to the downloaded file.
    or
*)When downloading from an SAP system running on an application server with an EBCDIC-type code page, an incorrect code '0A' is written for the LINE FEED character
    <b>
    Pre-requisite</b>
    a) The output file is opened 'in text mode' which does not allow to write non-character-like structures to the file via the TRANSFER command.
    b) The file is downloaded in the internal representation which uses two bytes per character in a Unicode system. The number of bytes to download is determined from the number of characters in the SAP system, however.
    or
*)The code of the LINE FEED character is incorrectly programmed.
    <b>
    Solution:</b>
You need to put some support packs attached with this note. For that you definitely need to ask YOUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE AN S-USER id at your WORK PLACE.
    <b>Note: 879598</b>
    <b>Reason and Prerequisites</b>
The file is downloaded in the internal representation which uses two bytes per character in a Unicode system. The number of bytes to download is determined from the number of characters in the SAP system. Hence when the download happens the data has to be          converted to the required format.
    <b>Solution</b>
Apply the corresponding support package or manually implement the changes described in the correction instructions.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    ak.

You can create procedure to move file from application server to oracle server.
Code for list all files in directory

    Hi
need to create xml file in r3 application server (AL11) using PI.Can we achieve this using file adapter or we need to proceed with proxy.
To generate file at AL11 file directory use File adapter. Proxy is not required for this
Its giving the error as "Unable to create new pooled resource:FTPEx:Login incorrect".
    1. Check with the Login credentials for the FTP service.
    2. FTP User you use in communication channel must have 777 access to FTP location.

  • How to check the file size before loading it to the context

    Hello,
I have an application to upload a file and write it to the server using the FileUpload UI and IWDResource Interface.
I would like to limit the size of the file the user is uploading to, say, 2MB.
The problem is that the current API doesn't allow me to check the file size before I store it in IWDResource. The API available for IWDResource:
    IWDResource resource = ...
    InputStream stream = resource.read(false);
    size = stream.available();
Is working on the file only AFTER storing it in the context and the server's memory. This way, if a user decides to upload 1GB file for example, he can easily crash the server.
I am already familiar with <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00062266-3aa9-2910-d485-f1088c3a4d71">this</a> arcticle but it doesn't answer this question as well, all it does is calculating the file size only after storing it in the context.
    Any ideas...?

  • Create a Document with an original file stored on application server

    Hello,
I start with document managment system : i am able to create new document (CV01N) manually, add a local file and check-in this file.
Now we need to store file which are stored on the SAP Application Server.
Firstly, in the GUI of transaction CV01N, i don't know how to browse file on application server. All files i can't attach as original, are files i can access from my computer.
Is it possible to access also on application server files ?
Moreover, i have to define function module which have to
    - Create a document (DMS)
    - Attach an orginial file which is stored on application server
    - Check-in the file
This function module will be called from a web application
I define this kind of function and run it correctly with a local file (stored on my computer) : i call BAPI "BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2" and "BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKIN2"
But i don't how to do with a file stored on application server. I see also note 504692 and try a program like ZZUZTEST_TEST_CHECKIN which use FM CVAPI_DOC_CHECKIN but it return an error Error uploading  E:\usr\sap\TD1\DVEBMGS00\data\FACTURE.txt" (this path and file exist on application server and is really the file i want to checkin)
Please could you confirm what i search, is possible or not.
If possible, could help me with some explanations and guidelines and perhaps a sample ?
    Thank you very much.

This is a bit tricky. I spent lots of hours about this .
You have to set PF_HOSTNAME with your name of your AS and gives the path to the file on the server.
    You wrote
    *PF_HOSTNAME = w_host
But beware: if you have more thän one AS you have to fix one AS for upload or you have to find the servers name of the file. A better way can be to share one folder by each AS.
You also have to decide between HTTP or FTP.
    You wrote:
      PF_FTP_DEST = 'SAPFTPA'
      PF_HTTP_DEST = 'SAPHTTPA'
You must define only one ! Then you have to check your settings in SM59 about working right.
Pls rate, if this was helpful.

After transfer workarea information or all records into dataset(unix file). When I see the file in application server automatically the last line is shown a blank line. I am not passing any blank line.
I have tried for single record than also the file generates the last line(2nd line) also a blank line.

    2. web.show_document('//EMS/MANUALS/ACC001.PDF/','_blank');
This give HTTP 404 NOT FOUND error
I think the problem is in path, how to mention the path of my Application Server file?
    Regards:
    Muhammad Nadeem

    Hi,
Did you find a solution to this?
We are running into the same problem where we need to open a file present on the application server (path /opt/webapps/applications/ISL/)
When we try this from the local machine it works (path D:/forms) however it does not work while trying to open it from the application server.
    Regards,
    Pooja

    ODBC driver software.
o Part III: Exploding the kit onto your system
Describes how to explode the kit onto your system hard drive.
    o Part IV: Installation Instructions
Describes how to install the Oracle8 ODBC driver.
Part I: Systems supported by the Oracle8 client software
You can install the ODBC client software on any of the following systems:
    o Windows 2000
    o Windows NT X86
    o Windows 95
    o Windows 98
The Oracle8 ODBC Driver provides support for ODBC connections
from Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 98 systems
    to Oracle databases.
o Part II: Oracle8 ODBC Driver software.
Refer to the following files for information about the Oracle8 ODBC Driver:
LICENSE.TXT - Oracle8 ODBC Driver License Agreement. Read carefully
before installing and/or using this product. Enclosed in
    your software distribution kit.
SQORA.HLP - A Window's Help file which is the primary reference
manual for the Oracle8 ODBC Driver.
ODBCRelnotes.WRI - The release notes for the Oracle8 ODBC Driver
which contains information which may have not been
    included in the Help file.
    Installation Prerequisites
See the Oracle8 ODBC Driver release notes (ODBCRelnotes.WRI),
for a complete list of software products required and their versions.
    Time Required
The installation of the Oracle8 ODBC Driver takes approximately 5
minutes. The actual time may be shorter or longer, depending upon
    your hardware configuration.
    Disk Space Required
The Oracle8 ODBC driver installation requires approximately 2
megabytes of available storage space. The space required depends upon
what files you already have installed. The installation procedure
checks to see if you have enough available disk space. If you do not,
    the installation fails.
Part III: Exploding the Kit onto your system
Expand the self-extracting archive file onto your hard drive.
    C:\> ORA8174.EXE
    Part IV: Installation Instructions
    Oracle8 ODBC Driver 8.1.7.4.0
    This section assumes the following:
    1. MS Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 95 or Windows 98 is running.
    2. Oracle Universal Installer shipping with 8.1.7 has already been
    installed on your system.
    3. Part III has been completed.
    Software fixes:
Refer to release notes (ODBCRelnotes.wri) for a complete list of
    Software fixes.
    Installation Instructions
Once the self-extracting archive file ORA8174.EXE has been
exploded it will create an installable directory structure
onto your hard drive. Run the Oracle Universal Installer from
    your local drive.
    1. On the screen "File Locations" use the "Browse" button of
the source path to choose the file 'products.jar' from the
folder that ORA8174.EXE was extracted to. Choose 'Next'.
    2. You will receive a warning that some of the dependencies of
this product are not found in the staging area. This warning
is OK. The ODBC driver depends on the Net8 Client being already
installed on the system. Answer 'Yes' to continue.

  • Urgent :- Unable to deploy EAR file in Oracle application server

    Hello folks,
I am trying to deploy an application containing jsps and servlets
packaged into EAR using ant. However when am trying to do so by using
the Deploy EAR option in the Enterprise manager, it throws the
    following error -
"Invalid J2EE application file specified - Jar file:
/var/tmp/jar47241.tmp is missing its standard xml descriptor located at
    META-INF/ejb-jar.xml"
I suspect that something could be wrong with regards to the way the ear
    file has been created.
Please if someone could pin point the problem and help me understand
the the above error message , it will be of great help to me and I d
    really appreciate this.
    Many Thanks,
    Ramn.

3.i m created war file(in the form of jsp)

    You must create :
    1.Jar file
    2.War file
And then put them into an ear file
    Exemple : myapp.ear contains
    myappEJB.jar
    myappWEB.war
    META-INF/application.xml
and application.xml looks like this :
    <application xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee" version="1.4"
        xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
        xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com /xml/ns/j2ee
