Hi all,
At present our database has characterset as TH8TISASCII. So it supports to store & view THAI characters.Now we got the requirement to store & view CHINESE characters.How to implement this please help me.

Given the difference in the binary representation of Thai and Unicode data, you are probably going to have to end up building a new database using the Unicode character set (AL32UTF8), export the existing database, and import the data into the new database.
There is a chapter in the Globalization guide on [changing the character set of an existing database|http://68.142.116.70/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch2charset.htm#sthref157] which goes through all the options and wrinkles, but it most likely comes down to a full export and import.

Your device OS does not support chinese symbols.
Ask your wireless provider for a multi-language device OS that supports chinese characters.
Otherwise - check a chinese wireless provider for device OS. But note that your wireless provider disfavor use of device os from another wireless providers.
If you decide to use OS from another wireless provider - use OS exactly for your device model.
Install OS package on your desktop computer. After that delete Vendor.xml file from installed files on your desktop PC.
Connect your device to the computer and update device OS via Blackberry Desktop Manager/Application Loader.

Not a complete solution but if you only care about reading chinese characters on web pages only, and does not need to input chinese characters, Opera Mobile 10 does have one international version that comes with Asian languages support. It render Asian language beautifully even though the phone itself does not support.

The request being sent to the akamai server, (even when the Reader updater setting is turned OFF) is for updating the Adobe Approved Trust List (http://www.adobe.com/security/approved-trust-list.html).

If you want you can specifically turn off the auto update functionality for the same by navigating to Edit > Preferences > Trust Manager from within the Reader application. Look under the "Automatic Updates" section and you can change the setting as required or chose for the application to ask before updating the root certificates.

After updated the software, there is no Chinese for phone and written language. Is there any way that I can install the language instead of going to Nokia Care Centre? In spite of that, the Nokia phone browser prompt error message “The operation could not be completed” when I tried to access it. What is the problem?

Can you give more details, especially your productcode? (You can find it by tapping *#0000# and it starts with 05**.)
The question if you lose your Chinese language support depends on what exactly the dealer did with your phone, ie. which tools he used to flash it. So, I can't unfortunately this one without having the exact information. If he didn't fully change the productcode (and your phone is still on a supposedly Australian productcode), the update will set your phone back to the state in which it was when it left the factory. Meaning, your language pack will be back to default - without any Chinese characters.

Chinese Language Support Package ?

When users try to open my distributed forms using Adobe Reader 9 they get an alert box which states:
'You need to install the Traditional Chinese Language Support Package to view or fill in this form. If you continue without installing this package the form will not work correctly'
Is there anything within LiveCycle Designer which can be changed to prevent this message from appearing when users try to open the form ?
Here is the script of my form, I have very little experience of Java Script but I cannot see any ref. to Chinese ?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated......

How do we get Chinese character support in Lion using American keyboard?

As with any other language, you go to system prefs/language & text/input sources and check the boxes for the languages you want, plus the box for Show Input Menu in Menubar. Then you select the language you want from the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen and type away. There is Help available right on the machine plus a whole website here:

When I open about this mac - more info and I switch through the tabs (display,memory,storage,support,service) it lags (fps drops, animation looks choppy not smooth). Why does this happen? (over 300 gb free,same programs installed,free desk-downloads)

Only there it the animations goes like 2 fps and is not smooth. I do not understand why because the programs are the same so its the usage. Nothing is changed, yet i experience this little issue for a couple of days.

 I do not know 4.5.1, but this works for 5.1: Did you set the proper
 content type? Try to add something like <jsp:directive.page
 contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>, adjusted to the encoding you
 actually use.

Where is the Simplified Chinese Language Support package for Acrobat?

Hi, everyone. I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro in Chinese version of Windows 7. When I try to input in an English PDF, a message showed "An error has occurred that may be fixed by installing the latest version of the Simplified Chinese Language Support package." But I can not find this "package" anywhere? Does anyone has any clue? Thanks in advance.

Actually the windows is Ultimate version and I installed the English language package to convert it into English version Windows. The symptom was improved a little that I can add and delete characters in PDF but still can not "add or edit text box". In addition, every time I try to click the tool "add or edit text box", a message displays "There was a problem reading this document (14)." What does this mean?

Forms/Reports Chinese character support

We have an existing db (10.2.0.4.0) and forms (11.1.2.1.0) application, that we're trying to extend to support Chinese characters.
We're looking to add some unicode (nvarchar2) columns to existing tables, rather than converting the whole db charset.
I've pasted my environment settings below. What I've found so far in trying to create a local (ie. running the form in Builder with local weblogic running) test form, is that I can insert the chars ok (using plsql developer) and the test form can display them correctly, but cannot write them back to the database. They appear as upside down question marks in any records the form has created.
Env variables:
NLS_LANG = .UTF8
Database:
NLS_CHARACTERSET = WE8MSWIN1252
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16
1) So, can anyone give me any pointers on how to get the form to write the characters back into the database correctly?
2) The chinese chars will only be relevant to a few forms inside the app, are there any settings local to the form that will enable unicode support, rather than setting at OS level. ie, an alter session, or equivalent?
3) Oracle Reprts doesn't appear to have an nchar datatype unlike Forms, is there anyway to get Reports (generating PDFs), to include Chinese, or is it not possible?

I now have the chars writing back to the db ok. If you do it via an INSERT statement from inside the form, it doesn't work. It appears the value is sent to the db in the normal charset rather than the national charset, and it's written as a question mark. If you pass the value from the form into a back end stored proc though (which does the insert) it works okay.

I have not worked with Forms for a long time. Are use sure they actually support the NVARCHAR2 data type? My memory tells me that they do not.
I recommend migrating the database to AL32UTF8. You can support NVARCHAR2 in Forms using workarounds with stored procedures to move data as you described (you should be able to do this while reading as well.) but NVARCHAR2 data type is discouraged as it is not necessarily supported by all database features. For example, you cannot built an Oracle Text index on an NVARCHAR2 column. I am also not surprised that Reports cannot support NVARCHAR2.

E72 Chinese character support available?

Hi all,
I recently bought a E72 with English/Spanish/French/Portuguese languages available and noticed that it cannot display Chinese characters in texts and the internet browser. Is there any way to change the OS to one supporting Chinese characters (e.g. Hong Kong version)? Are there any other ways I can view Chinese or other Asian text in applications or websites?

I've written a solution of how to read chinese characters on the E72 here:

Simply installing font with unicode does not work because the font properties have to be named in a special way and also make sure you do not include Korean glyphs in the font.
