Clearing Spry Menu Bars within the website

How do I clear the spry menu bar values within a website. I am trying to create a horizontal spry menu bar on one page and then another horizontal one on another page. It keeps the same values everytime I create a new page. How do I clear the values for each page?
Thanks!

I am redesigning the website in the test environment using a new page. While doing so I am redoing the spry menu bar. It changed the spry menu bar in the original website (production environment). I would like to have the spry menu's be separate. How do you create separate spry menu bars for a situation as such?
Thanks!
If you are editing locally it should not overwrite your remote file unless you have the option "Automatically upload files to server on save" checked off.  If that is the case you should uncheck that box.
If you want to further separate the old version from the new version, the only other method is to just create a new site.  Even if you start with a duplicate of the existing site.  Then you don't risk the chance of overwriting the existing files on the server.

  • Spry Menu Bar - Freezing the Menu item in hover when clicking a submenu item

    Hi,
    I am trying to add a feature to a verticle spry menu bar that freezes the menu item or "parent" (to apear to be hovered) when clicking one of the parents sub-menu items. I want to do this so that users can know how they arrived at the page they're on.
    Thanks for your help,
    -Shiva

    To look at your intention in a different way,
    Hover over a submenu item
    Parent item is colored/indicated
    Submenu item is colored/indicated
    Click on the submenu item
    New page opens
    Parent item "remains" colored/indicated on the new page
    There are three or four ways to do this, depending on your site setup, but one basic concept to understand. The emphasis on the Parent menu item is totally independent of whether you got to the new page via the menu or by some other means. The emphasis will always be there, though it will appear to be connected to your clicking on the menu!
    Say you have a menu with two Parent menu items, flowers and trees.
    On the Flowers menu are submenus: Tulips, Roses, and Gardenias, On all three different Flowers pages (Tulips, Roses, Gardenias), the Flowers parent item will be emphasized.
    On the Trees menu are submenus: Oak, Maple, Spruce. On all three different Trees pages (Oak, Maple, Spruce), the Trees parent item will be emphasized.
    If you want to go in to each page individually, you can use a general indicator like id="localemphasis". (To emphasize more than one thing on a page, use a class instead of an id)
    Using this method, on the Tulips, Roses, and Gardenias pages, put id="localemphasis" on the Flowers parent menu item.
    On the Oak, Maple, and Spruce pages, put id="localemphasis" on the Trees parent menu item.
    To control the emphasis from the CSS stylesheet, you won't need to go into each page, but you will ID each parent menu item.
    Give each 'category' (Flowers, Trees) page a body ID to match the category
    Every Flower page wants the Flower parent menu item emphasized, give all three Flower pages a body tag like this: <body id="flowers">
    LIkewise, every Tree page wants the Tree parent menu item emphasized, as <body id="trees">
    Within the menu itself and on ALL pages, give each parent menu item an id to correspond to its category
    <li id="flowers_m">Flowers</li>
    <li id="trees_m">Trees</li>
              I have added a "_m" to remind myself that it is the menu item's id. You might need to put the id on the <a> link if you have not used a list for your menu.
    In your CSS stylesheet,
         #flowers #flowers_m,
         #trees #trees_m  {background-color: red; color: white;}
    Please use your own code! White on red might not be your cup of tea...use the same styling as the "hover" styling you mention in your query.
    To interpret what we have just done, we have said
         make the background-color red and the text white
    for the parent menu item Flowers (id="flowers_m") when you are on a Flowers page (body id="flowers")
    and for the parent item Trees (id="trees_m") when you are on a Trees page (body id="trees").
    This emphasis is good feedback for your user...remember that for SEO purposes, you will also want to use actual HTML text to reinforce the page environment, that is, h1 titles like FLOWERS and TREES. That will provide more feedback for your user.

  • Spry Menu Bar not loading on website

    Hey guys,
    I am currently editing a website so that it has a large horizontal spry menu bar on the homepage and once you go to other pages it has a smaller spry menu bar as a header. To do this I have created to .css files, for the larger one the CSS file is called SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css and the css file of the smaller header is called SpryMenuBar1.css. I have uploaded the Spry Assets folder to my remote server and a test html just to see whether it works. For some reason though it doesn't work? In DW on Live View and Previewing in Chrome and IE work perfectly fine for both the larger and smaller Spry Menu Bar. Bear in mind I work on a local server in DW. The test html is http://www.soccerexperience.com/cover_flow_test.html. On this page I have included the smaller Spry Menu Bar. I haven't actually tested out my homepage yet. Could you please help me shed some light on this problem? I am fairly new to website editing so if your answer could be clear that would be great.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your reply David Powers. I have now uploaded the Js file and all is well! Thanks again

  • Spry menu bar not working on website

    I try to load the spry menu bar on my website and it keeps coming up as an order list instead of the style. Then these two errors pop up.
    SpryMenu.js requires SpryWidget.js!
    SpryMenuBarKeyNavigationPlugin.js requires SpryMenu.js!
    my website is:
    countryclublandscapesct.net
    let me know if you need anything else. thanks!

    A couple of your Spry supporting files look corrupted to me.
    Try using Filezilla or another 3rd party FTP app to upload them.
    FYI: Spry is dead.  Adobe abandoned the framework last year with no plans to keep supporting it.  You might want to take this opportunity to find a better menu system.

  • Spry Menu Bar CS4

    I have used the horizontal Spry Menu Bar for the navigation for my website.  I used a tiered system because I needed two levels of drop downs for the menu.  When we loaded the site to the web yesterday it worked fine on Mozilla but there was a glitch on IE.  Instead of dropping down in a stacking order, the submenus would be lined up horizontally along the screen in a long line.  I'm not sure if I need to edit the .css file for the spry menu bar, or the .js file.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Note:  I've attached the javascript code AND the css code for reference.

    I was just struggling with this, too. I think I have it fixed -- it's looking good in IE7 and IE8 (my standalone of IE6 has conflicts and refuses to open this morning).
    You need to update the CSS. Give this a try.
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li
        clear:left;
        float: none;
        background-color: transparent;
         color: #878189;
    Take a look -- the menus should be displaying vertically in a list in IE, but you'll see the background color isn't extending to fill the entire list box.
    So add the background-color property with the correct color to the ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul entry.
    I haven't gone through your code line by line, but those two changes fixed it for me. Let me know if it works.

  • Spry Menu Bar 1.7 Rendering Variable background height based presence/absense of sub-menus

    First, let me thank those who have offered help on previous posts on this issue -- the suggestions have pointed me in new directions.
    However I am still having problems with the first menu item on the top level of a horizontal menu bar which (because it has no sub-menu) renders the background differently from the other main level items.  I have implemented suggestions, as you will see, by setting a class for menu items with sub-menus as per the suggestion, and then proceeding working with line height to make specific changes within that class.  However any changes appeared universally through the menu bar at all levels.
    Working from that suggestion, I tried establishing a class of "menubarhorizontal_no-sub-menu" and then adjusted the line height for that item.  Unfortunately it applied this change again to all items leaving a displeasing white gap between menu items in the drop down menus.
    I wanted to put out a call once more.  I realize that the problem is in determining which of the rules to style, but I seem to have exhausted the possibilities.  The latest version can be seen at www.aclco.org/testing/index.html which will provide a visual of the problem.  You can see it doesn't look much different than the original which is http://www.aclco.org/index.html.
    I am also including the code for the nav bar which is inserted as a library item into all the pages:

    This is done with a div tag called Main Nav Contents.

  • How do I get banner & Spry Menu Bar to appear on every page?

    Hi,
    I am a new user of Dreamweaver CS6 an a relatively new user to website development in general.
    I just followed along through Davide Powers "Creating your first website" tutorial series and found it to be very helpful.  I made it through all six parts and managed to get the Check Magazine sample website up and running.  I now want to use what I learned to creat my own site, and I am stuck already.
    The tutorial does a great job of explaining how to setup a Spry Menu Bar to use for navigation.  The tutorial, however, only shows how to put this Spry Menu Bar on the main index.html page.  For my actual site, I would like my navigation bar (and my banner) to appear on every one of my pages.
    Can anyone here tell me where I can find instructions on the best way to do this?
    My navigation requirements are very simple.  I just want a common banner with navigation buttons to appear at the top of every one of my pages.  The Spry Menu Bar that was created in the tutorial would work great for me assuming I can find a relatively simple way to get it (along with my banner) to appear at the top of every one of my pages.
    If it is very complicated to get it to appear on every page (or would require a large time investment in learning advanced techniques), then I would consider passing on the Spry Menu Bar and trying to setup my navigation in a simpler (if more old-fashioned) way.
    Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    If a small, 4-5 page site,  make a prototype page with all your columns, headers, footers, menus, etc...  and go to  File > SaveAs index.html,  and then File > SaveAs > page1.html,  and then File > SaveAs page2.html, etc...
    Or you can save your prototype page as a Dreamweaver Template (.dwt file).  Add editable regions for stuff that will change from page to page.  Everything outside editable regions is common to all site pages. Then use your Template to spawn site pages.  File > New > Page from Template, index.html, page1.html, page2.html, etc....    DW Templates are nice site management tool.  But before you use them, read all you can about them in F1 Help as they can be a little tricky to master.
    Last but not least, look at Server-Side Includes. They're a huge time saving feature. I use them on every site I build.

  • Need help with Spry Menu Bar

    Hello,  I have two templates that I am using.  Both have a horizontal menu bar across the top of the page and then two Vertical Spry Menu Bars down the left hand side of the page - one above the other.  On one template, all menu bars are working correctly.  On the other template, 2 out of three are working correctly.  Not sure what's happening here.  The spry menu bar that is not working correctly is under "Books & Materials" heading.  The menu bar is supposed to turn green when you mouse over it, but instead everything turns white and looks like it "disappears".  I have no idea why it would work on one template and not the other.  Or for that matter, why it is working on one vertical spry menu bar, but not the other on the same page.  Can anyone help me?   www.springerlejoy.com/proanimals4.html  This is a page that shows where it is not working.  Basically, all of the products pages are having this problem.  If you go to the home page:  www.springerlejoy.com you will see that this page is working - using a different template.  Can anyone help me?  I'm at a loss!  Thanks!

  • Spry Menu Bar Difficulties

    I am just learning Dreamweaver CS4. I have a Spry menu bar on
    the index page. I had trouble getting the text to center up in the
    individual buttons. Somehow that was cured and subsequently the
    other submenu items (under "Home", "Services" and "Examples") are
    not visible on the website though they show up fine in Dreamweaver.
    If you want to see what the output is the website is:
    http://www.caddyshackproductions.com
    Can anyone correct this css file?
    Thank you, once again.

    Abraham Chaffin over at Creative Cow had the solution:
    The main issue that I see is in your CSS file under
    <code>ul.MenuBarHorizontal li{</code>
    You have this setting:
    <code>position: inherit;</code>
    it should be
    <code>position: relative;</code>

  • Spry Menu Bar Javascript Error - items[i].getElements..."a")[0] is undefined

    I have used a spry menu bar on several websites now, and It works very well.
    However, I get a javascript error everytime a page loads. Like I said the menu bar works, but i would like my page to run error free.
    The error is this  items[i].getElements..."a")[0] is undefined
    and it occurs in the following block of code from the spry js file.
    // safari doesn't support tabindex
        if (Spry.is.safari)
            this.enableKeyboardNavigation = false;
        if(this.element)
            this.currMenu = this.element;
            var items = this.element.getElementsByTagName('li');
            for(var i=0; i<items.length; i++)
                if (i > 0 && this.enableKeyboardNavigation)
                    items[i].getElementsByTagName('a')[0].tabIndex='-1';
                this.initialize(items[i], element);
                if(Spry.is.ie)
                    this.addClassName(items[i], this.isieClass);
                    items[i].style.position = "static";

    Hi,
    The problem could be in your HTML-code or even in your modified style sheet.
    So that we do not have to guess, please give us these code, preferably by supplying an online URL.

  • Spry Menu Bar Advanced Styling Question

    Hello all,
    I am using Spry Menu Bars for the first time and have checked
    out most of the online documentation. I have gone into the CSS file
    to customize much of the look of my first menu using the
    documentation I could find.
    I would like to do the following, but can't seem to find the
    CSS code bits to do it:
    1. Change the height (not width) of my top menu trigger item
    -- it has created some unwanted padding.
    2. Change the width of my submenu independently of the top
    menu item -- eliminate cramping and allow for longer text than the
    top menu trigger.
    3. Change the submenu text color and size independently of
    the top menu item text.
    Here is a link to my sample navigation bar (only the first
    item "Latest News" has a menu):
    http://stage.ecdi.com/includes/nav_bar.html
    Sorry for the extent of my request, but I have gotten
    blurry-eyed looking for posted material that answers my inquiry. I
    wish there were an easier way to accomplish complete styling,
    considering how popular these menus are.
    You guys are the best...

    The reason you don't see a lot here in this forum is because
    Adobe created a Spry forum. The first thing I would recommend doing
    is updating Spry if you have not done so before:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/
    Then you can head over to the Spry forums here:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/labs_spry_pr1_forum
    To answer your question though, everything you want to edit
    is in the CSS document in the SpryAssets folder. All of the
    attributes are defined in there.

  • Spry Menu Bar using CSS background image without losing submenu ( V) indicators

    Spry menu bar sets the down and side submenu indicators using
    a positioned background image. I have a requirement to use a
    specific background image yet must retain the > and v submenu
    indicators. Without having to generate full width custom background
    images for each of the menu item types to include the side and down
    menu indicators, is there anyway to use a generic background image
    and show the indicators using just CSS?

    Don't use reserved words in JS
    var event = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("events.xml", "catalog/event", {sortOnLoad: "date", sortOrderOnLoad: "descending"});
    event is such a reserved word. If you change this to event1 then all is well.
    I hope this helps.

  • Spry Menu Bar vs Properties Window

    Dreamweaver CS4, Mac OSX 10.6.4
    Not sure how I did it, but when I add a Spry Menu Bar from the Insert>Spry>Spry Menu Bar, I first get the correct dialog, asking Horizontal or Vertical (I choose Horizontal), but it comes up with a Menu Bar with Item 1, Item 2, Item 3, and Item 4. (No further dialog shows up, and Properties Window does NOT change)
    How does one add a Item 5, or sub-menus???
    Every video/help doc refers going to Window>Properties and adding it there. The only problem is, my Properties window looks nothing like the tutorials!!!
    Again, once I choose Horizontal or Vertical, the menu appears, but the Properties window does not change.
    If I click in the same Frameset pane as the menu I just created, it looks like:
    And if I click on a Menu item it looks like:
    It is supposed to look something like:
    Where the Properties window shows the Menu Bar. How do you get to that?
    I've tried reseting Dreamweaver by following the support docs, even resetting the site, and still no luck. The very first time I tried this, the Properties window did show the correct window, but I messed that doc up and trashed it. I tried starting over, and now I have the problem listed above.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    I assume that you are working in design view in which case you should click the blue part of the menu to get the correct properties window

    Ben, I would be fine if I just could see that blue area! For some reason it will not come up, and that is my problem!  -Bill
