Cloning domains (WLS 7.0)

Is there an easy way to clone a domain, possibly to a different machine, in WLS 7.0?
In 6.1 I just copied the domain directory, edited config.xml and bob was my uncle.
But in 7.0 this doesn't work due to problems with encrypted entries in config.xml.
I have found a way around these problems but it leaves me with a domain with no users,
roles, policies, etc. so I have to manually recreate all security settings.

Thanks for your reply Gray
But can you explain more detaily ?
I have to add class path info as classes url not jar.
then how can I ?
for examaple ..
EAR root Directory
- ejb1.jar
- ejb2.jar
- WAR root Directory
- jsp root Directory
- META-INF
- WEB-INF
- classes
- com
- tobeway
- util
if ejb1.jar and ejb2.jar reference com.tobeway.util classes how can I make manifest
file ?
Current contenti are (in ejb jar file)
"Manifest-Version: 1.0
Created-By: Ant 1.4.1"
that's all
Thank for you kind reply.

When I use EAR I met some problem.
I packed all JSP into one .war file. fot that I had to inclde requredclasses
into .war because jsps use these classes. then I packed EAR file withWAR
and
some EJB jar files. After then I deployed EAR file to WLS. But If removeclasses
from classpth while EJB deploying Error occured. Because EJBs referencethese
classes. I thoght if I packed classes into .WAR .. there is no problem. But Error
occured. I have to include classes into classpth for that ? or Anymistakes in
my way.
thank you.

  • Cloning Domains/Servers

    Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has tried creating a domain on a weblogic server by copying
and pasting an entire domain directory. ie. Copying %bea_home%\config\DomainName
    to the new installation %bea_home%\config\DomainName.
When I do this I get the following error when starting up the weblogic server:
"The WebLogic Server did not start up properly. Exception raised:
    weblogic.security.internal.encryption.EncryptionServiceException:Error decrypting
    Secret Key" when loading config.xml
I assume this is because the weblogic system password is encrypted in the config.xml
file. Is there anyway I can get around this so I can easily clone weblogic servers?
    Thanks,

Yeah the security key is tied to the server, what exactly are you
trying to accomplish? Do you want seperate domains or servers? Are
    they on different physical servers?
Also what version of wls? 6 or 7?
Will try to help you if I can

  • Cloning Domains

    Hi everybody...
I'm new to it, so I'm not understanding very well some concepts.
    I have a Domain, that has 2 managed servers WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS.
I want to have another instance of forms and reports, to make development tests.
What is the best approch? To have 2 more managed servers, WLS_FORMS_TEST and WLS_REPORTS_TEST, or to clone entire domain.
I had been reading some forums and blogs, and I think it must be the second option.
If it is, how do I make it? Is there any wizard or utility to do it?
I'm using Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g.
    My best regards,
    Fernando Almeida

  • OSB 11.1.1.7 - CANNOT EXTEND WLS DOMAIN TO OSB USING WLST

    Hi ,
Need the help in creating the OSB clustered domain.
Followed the below documentation. But not getting the required results.

Domain that created after using the wlst by using the given templates IS configured with "osb_server1" managed server. The managed servers that we defined those are in cluster does not have any OSB product deployment.

  • Old method of cloning a domain broken in 10.3.0?

Up through 9.x, I "cloned" domains by copying the admin server's domain directory tree to the new machine, changing the directory paths, manually editing scripts and config.xml, etc. to reflect the new domain name, IP/ports, machine names, etc. Normally after that the admin would just boot right up.
    With 10.3.0, I'm getting:

I've tried different usernames/passwords, removing boot.properties to force interactive password questions (which still resulted in password failure!), restoring the LDAP files from the previous day's backup zip, etc.
Has something changed in 10.3 from 9.x that now prevents this method from working? Can someone suggest an alternate method? That is, other than using the template builder (which screws up too much JMS and other targetting and other fine details to make manual fixup more painful than the method I prefer).

    Hi Steve
By any chance is this a Portal Domain. If Yes, then you may need to do some additional stuff. For any Portal Domain, the username and password are stored in the database in the table named USERS. Also within the domain root folder/security, a .sql file is created "SQLAuthenticator.sql". And this .sql file is what executed in the Db schema that is connected to the Portal Domain. Now anytime you copy this domain and point to any other db schema, you need to run this .sql file in that new db schema also. Please note this is only for Portal Domain.

    Hi,
In order to manage OHS through em console, the weblogic domain must be extended by Enterprise Manager and JRF. After the extension, you can associate the OHS instance with the weblogic server and manage it with the help of em console.

    Hi,
you see that message: "The password must be at least 8 alphanumeric characters with at least one number or special character." ?
The password: The weblogic password you provide when prompted
must be at least: minimal condition for secure passwords enforced on WLS by default
at least 8 alphanumeric characters: no 7 but eight or more characters
with at least one number or special character: password should have a number in it or an "@" "-" or similar
    E.g.
    weblogic1
is one password option that would meet that requirement

  • JDev 11g update 1 base edition on windows: error building default domain

    Hi all,
(refer to [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3168105]here for original post)
I'm posting this again with some more information. When downloading the Studio Edition (Base - no JDK) version of JDeveloper 11g update 1, an error occurs upon first (and each subsequent) startup of JDeveloper (error details below).
    Tests that I have done:
1). Install using JDK 6 u 11 - JDK did not show up automatically in the installer, had to browse to find it and select it. Running using 6u11, 6u10, and 6u7 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs.
2). Install using JDK 6 u7 - JDK was automatically found by the installer. Running using 6u7, 6u11, and 6u10 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs
These errors do not occur when using the Windows installer. For information: my machine is Windows 2008 Server Standard 32-bit. An update - I just tried this on a Vista 64-bit laptop (running Sun 32-bit JDK 6u10) and did not have the problem. Ergo, this seems to be an issue with the JDK and detecting Windows 2008 as a Windows platform (or possibly with whatever mechanism JDev/WLS is using to detect the OS platform). I'll do more research on that and update if I find anything.
One more update: I didn't find any issues reported like this related to Windows 2008, but I did one more test: install and run JDeveloper using:
    java version "1.6.0_05"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_05-b13)
BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.0-50_o-100423-1.6.0_05-20080626-2105-windows-ia32, compiled mode)                                                                   The issue does not occur using this JDK. So to summarize, installing JDev 11g update 1 Studio edition, base installer using any of the SUN JDK's on Windows 2008 gives this problem. Using the windows installer or JRockit Mission Control JVM - no problems.
Finally, one last update - the error is related to the JVM that is used to install, not the one used to run JDeveloper (via editing jdev.conf) - the offending JDK is in wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd. Seems like a no-no to have one JDK running JDev and another running the integrated WLS, though. Quite a pity, as JDev starts up pretty slowly using JRockit Mission Control.
JRockit Realtime seems to be a bit faster... sigh - now to remove the 72 extra JDK's on my laptop ;)
My going forward plan: use the Windows installer. Wish I never installed Windows Server 2008.
Now for the error details; the log shows:
ERROR:  An error occurred while building the default domain.
Please see this log file for more details:

    Best,
    John

    Hi all,
(refer to [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3168105]here for original post)

  • An error occurred while building the default domain - New version of error

I have installed JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0. I used an temporary Admin account on the machine to install (organization security does not allow normal users to have admin accounts) and it runs perfectly well under that account.
When I logged in under my normal account though I get an error trying to run the Debugger on the application. The server appears to be the only area of JDeveloper that has issues under this account, and below is the Log:
[Waiting for the domain to finish building...]
[12:51:06 PM] Creating Integrated Weblogic domain...
The Server Instance cannot be started because the Integrated Weblogic domain was not built successfully.
[12:51:20 PM] ERROR: An error occurred while building the default domain.

Any one have any ideas??? Seems like security issue, but this account has full access to it's C:/User/Account folders.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Can you try the following steps and let us know if it works?
    1. Create a folder in your c: drive (say c:\myjdevhome)
    2. Invoke the command prompt, set JDEV_USER_HOME=c:\myjdevhome
    3. cd to JDEV_HOME\jdeveloper\jdev\bin
    4. Start the jdev (jdev.exe).
    5. Run/Debug your application.

    Marcus,
I can't answer your specific question but I suggest you browse some of the OAS and WebDB documentation. Click the documentation link on the left of this page. You could also take a look at some of the technical white papers available at www.oracle.com.

  • Domain and User Level Security

    Dear Friends
    Tuxedo Version : 8.0
    Weblogic Server: 7.0
    Operating System : Win 2000
I have successfully run the simpapp example with WTC as the connector between
the remote domain (tuxedo) and local domain (WLS).
Now, i want to perform authentication, the documents are not being of much help
so can anybody give me any suggestion to create domain level security and ACL.
Please note, i'm just using the services (import).
As per the documents and newsgroup,
i made changes to the TUXEDO ENVIRNMENT, ubbdomain, adding SECURITY , AUTHSERV
    parameters in it.
Also made respective changes in WTC, but when i run the example,
it throws an exception as TPENOENT.
    Thank you in anticipation.
    Please help me !

  • Is it possible to customize suffix for cloned DC's?

I'm wondering is there an option to customize suffix for cloned Domain Controllers.
By default we're getting 8 characters from the original machine and then is appended suffix
    -CLnnnn.
I wish to change the default suffix.

The behavior is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742959
"You can also use clone domain controller names that are auto-generated. Such names are created when you do not specify
a <ComputerName> element in the DcCloneConfig.xml. This automated process assigns a new computer name that is created by using first seven characters of the source computer, a hyphen, the letters "CL," and an incrementing number from 0001 to
    9999"
I am not aware about a way to change that but you can specify the name in DCCloneConfig.xml file to apply the one you want.

    Hi Satya,
I have another followup issue regarding domain creation in WLS90.
WLST complains on local registry file and jdbcdrivers.xml under /export/webapps/wls90 filesystem, which is true.
The way I installed WLS90 is I ran the installer bin file on one host under /export/webapps/wls90 directory and after removing some unnecessary files (line man, samples, examples etc), I tared up the remaining directories and untared on another host. I modified all scripts that refered to /export/webapps/wls90 to new location. But not sure why it is still refrering to OLD directory structure. The new location is /export/webapps/sbea.
Does installer caches the installation directory other than scripts under common/bin and server/bin ? Can you please let me know if I am missing anything. I verified all scripts under common/bin, server/bin which points to new location.
