CMS Wizzard - Composite Application DC type missing in Dev studio

Hi,
I have created an application skeleton using the CMS wizzard, however when it comes to using the software component in Dev Studio, the Composite Application DC type is greyed out when I look at the component properties.
If I expand the greyed out DC type there is an odd red icon with a question mark next to the following imports:
bi/mmr/api
bi/mmr/mmrbuild
bi/mmr/mmrlib
caf/core/metadata
caf/metamodel/mmr
I presume this is because I'm missing a dependent sca file for the software component, has anyone had a similar problem and worked out what software dependency needs adding? Is there a way to create a Composite App through the wizzard?

We are currently experiencing the same problem. Did you find a solution to this?
I have tried adding dependent components MMR_SERVER and CAF amd CAF-MF, but this does not seem to work.
The import fails.

Partner application configuration is missing error on SSO login page

We have APEX 3.1.2 setup as a partner application and an application within APEX setup to use SSO for authentication. Following a link to the APEX application redirects to the Single Sign-On page, as it should, but it also shows "Error: The partner application configuration is missing or expired." I type in my password and username, click the Login button, and (if I entered my username and password correctly, of course!) then the APEX application is shown. So, I cannot figure out why we're getting the no_papp_err error and I have not found any solutions to that issue on Metalink or anywhere else on the Internet. Any ideas? I'm concerned that we have a misconfiguration somewhere that is causing this error and will affect any other partner application we setup in the future.
We're on Oracle Portal 10.1.4, SSO 10.1.2, and SSL is setup on both infra and mid tiers.

Did you try checking the partner application entries on the SSO-login server page?
please login as orcladmin or some other user with membership in, i beleive, iasadmins group. verify that for this partner application, what you see here corresponds to the application URL. it looks like your login page call may have issues. so check for login url too.
also check the ORASSO.WWSSO_LS_CONFIGURATION_INFO$ for entries corresponding to Apex application.

The versions of my NWDS and WAS are 7.0.Please help.

Exception in calling a web service from a composite application service

Hi,
I have created a composite application service with external service as a web service. My web service is deployed on localhost as well as I am running my composite application service in localhost. When i try to test the application service, I get the exception
com.sap.caf.mp.base.exception.InvocationException: Invalid parameters
The exception happens in MPConnector.java 'process' method where I am calling the execute operation on the service.
I have tried testing this through Service Browser as well as creating a callable object on the Application service and testing the callable object.
I am using the NWDS 7.0.06 version
and EP installed on my machine is the Sneak Preview 7.0 sp 7
Will appreciate all help in this regard.

I have verified the input/output parameters. They are simple types. All are Strings. Nothing really complex there.
I have the Service Exceptions added already.
And definitely the permissions are disabled but still this isn't working.
Any more clues might be helpful.

Using Composite Application Framework to deliver global HR applications

Hello,
I'm new to Composite applications but have experience with Web development and Web services.
Our business case is the following:
- Working on HR applications
- The customer is a group made of 3 companies.
- We have 2 separate back-end system, one global for the group and one dedicated the company
- Some HR business processes need to be performed on both the global and the company system. Exemple: Hire of an employee. Depending on the company the employee will work for, some data needs to be created on the company system and on the global system
I believe this can be achieved with Composite Application Framework. I guess, front-end application has to be build (using Composite Designer?). What I don't know is what type of technology is used to build the front-end application?
Finally, the idea behind this is to replace the current solution: multiple interfaces between the group system and the company system.

While I was searching the web for some answers, I found out you can create web based composite applications using web dynpros for Java.
Is it possible to do so with web dynpro for ABAP? I guess we can build an abap web dynpro application that connects to different web services from different back-ends to retrieve and update data. Can anyone confirm this?

How to use external libraries jar files in the composite application?

I have some external jars files (which consists of java classes) that I would like to use in my composite application.
I have created a DC with type as external library for the jars. However, I don't know how to specify the DC to be used in my caf application.

My jar files consists only java classes and a manifest.mf. The files are compiled using jdk 1.4.2-b28. Will this be any issue?
It seems that if I ignore the error and continue step 7 which is to do deployment of the ear, the error given is
Cannot update it.
Caused by: com.sap.engine.library.bytecode.cf.CFException: Invalid constant pool tag, 60 at index 41.
Does anyone know what that mean?
Is there any sample that teach how to deploy external libraries as bundled library?

Composite Application with a Task Flow and form created manually

Hi,
I'm using Oracle SOA Suite 11G and i'm trying to create a task form for a human task without using the auto generate wizards and i'm having trouble getting the form to show in BPM worklist.
I have followed instructions in the developers guide to create the form against the human task including the following
27 Designing Task Forms for Human Tasks
27.4.3 How To Create a Task Form Using the Complete Task with Payload Drop Handler
27.8 Deploying a Composite Application with a Task Flow
After i deploy and test, the task appears and works correctly in BPM worklist, but the form does not show. This is when i have the task form within a composite application or in a separate project. When i generate the form automatically using the wizards, this all works fine.
Updated: Noticed that when i create the task form manually and deploy it does not create entries as per instructions
20.3 Managing the URI of the Human Task Service Component Task Details Application
I have the details in hwtaskflow.xml, but for some reason, they are not automatically created... It is annoying to have this created each time...
Am i missing something? I don't see any errors in BPM worklist or on the server. Any advice would be appreciated.

The later option of not using Query_Only would involve massive custmizations, as there are so many forms apart from the absence forms.
There is just one taskflow that contains the person, assignment, Absence and SIT screen, how can we do like an standalone absence screen does not have tehe query only as Yes.
Please let me know in case you dint get me i will mention my development steps in points.

Parameter's name of Composite Application Service's operation

Hi All,
When we define a operation of Composite Application Service, we just simply add it from operation tag, and add the input & output parameters by choosing the attribute type and click the add-as-input button. The added parameter would be something like arg0, arg1, etc.
Is it possible possible to change these parameter's name into semantic word instead of these meaningless ones?

I am running Mosaic on Experience server .
But when deploying this tile, am getting following error. (show appliCompositeError.jpg)
(error deploying the catalog to experience server the required descriptor.xml is missing from catalog archive being imported)
any help or recommendation ?

You either need to install the released Experience Server yourself, or you need to identify a server that has the release build on it. The released build version should be 2.0.82.293848.
The error message says that "descriptor.xml" is missing, which indicates you are running against an older version of the composite application framework on the server.
The released server expects a descriptor with the extension ".cxml" (which is likely what you are deploying).
If it were the case you were deploying an old archive containing a descriptor.xml file to the released server, the CAT_40054 error message would say "The required catalog descriptor (".cxml") is missing from the catalog archive being imported."
There are several ways to identify the build version of Mosaic server, two of which are
1) launch a composite application in a browser (such as a sample),
      navigate to View > Source
      search for " Mosaic Version"
2) launch "<server address:port>/mosaic/about" in a browser
      get the "Build" number from the XML reply
      (depending on your browser and settings, might have to "View > Source" to see it)

i always get this message 'character types missing, replaced by the standard charactertype helvetica.
How can i get this message away, or maybe even put the missing charactertype back, whick is optional to me,

Not sure this will help but I'm wondering if you might have a duplicate font issue ....
try going into Macintosh HD >Applications > Font Book, then look for
fonts that have a black dot beside them. Highlight these fonts, then from the menu bar select > Edit > Resolve Duplicates to turn these fonts off. Hope this helps but if not come on back.

Hi,
The problem could be corrupted PLUGINS or missing plugins due to incomplete installation.
Ideally the plugins folder at "Program Files\SAP\IDE\CE\eclipse\plugins" location would have the necessary files for creating a particular project. You can always check for the right plugin in case of the problem.
As mentioned copying the folder structure is one such work around solution. One more notable thing is that when you manually add a plugin, do make sure you restart the NWDS and refesh the track.

Composite Applications(CAF) only on CE??

Hello Experts,
I need a little clarity on the CE. Below are the few silly questions that are I'm having. Could you please clarify them:
1. is CE a platform that can run composite applications?
2. can't we run the composite applications on NW 7.0?
3. imagining that we can't run composite applications on NW 7.0, how can we deploy GP(CAF Process layer) on to NW 7.0?
4. and the latest NW 7.3, does that come with the common usage type for EP and CE? or else do we have to continue maintaining CE as separate system and integrate that with our mail portal (in case 7.3)?
5. can we deploy CAF alone on NW 7.0? b'coz our environment is NW 7.0 EhP1 and we have CAF components in my NWDS.
please help me answering the above questions.

Wwc- 41653 The partner application configuration is missing or expired.

We have the following scenerio.
Application server 9iR1, apache server, login server, portal3.0.9.8.4 on 9iR2 database on host A. There is another database in 9iR2 where portal3.0.9.8.4 installed on host B. I want to use this database for another website configuring apache on host A as virtual host. I want to use same login server on host A.
The website on host A is working fine while the website on host B does not allow me to log into the login server.
I have run ssodatan script for associating portal schema on host B. I have created partner application on host A portal for accessing portal on host B and run ssodatax script for associating partner application.
when I try to log into the another web site created for host B, I get portal welcome page. when I click on login, I get sso page but i am unable to log into it, getting error The partner application configuration is missing or expired. Please contact the administrator. (WWC-41653)
How to resolve this?
